an unexpected treasure
Despite its generic title, this book has it all: depth of character, a moving plot, mystery, romance, sex, etc! I laughed and cried througout this novel.

Tells the story of a young (almost too young) scottish lass who is hidden in the Scottish Highlands. On the death of her adopted grandfather, she is given to Alex as his ward. She is wild and free, and can't understand society's rules. He is brutal at times, dealing with his own troubled bast. The mystery of her birth is uncovered, and they live happily every after.

A bit predictable, but still great!

Great relationship drama
Life dramatically changes for Tamsin Harte and her mother following the death of her wealthy father because their shipping company goes bankrupt. The Hartes fall from grace, or at least the upper echelon of society, when Tamsin realizes she no longer has the pick of any eligible males in her Cornish village. To bring in income, the financially scrapped Hartes open up a boarding house, which further alienates their so-called society friends. Tamsin actually takes to their new business as if she was born to manage a boarding house and soon dreams of opening up a new hotel.

Still, in spite of their new status, Tamsin decides that fellow blue blood Victor Thorne would make a suitable spouse even if he is spoiled and a bit of a snob. Likewise, her brain finds hotel owner Standish Coverley as the ideal husband. However, her heart chooses fisherman David Peters, who she believes would be the worst choice for her. Will her heart, her brain, or her upbringing choose her husband for Tamsin?

TAMSIN HARTE is a warm historical fiction that makes 1900 Victorian England feel as if the reader is observing its' activities first hand. The exciting story line centers on Tamsin and her new status and relationships with people and business. The wealth of detail adds to the texture of the tale as Malcolm MacDonald discerningly interweaves tidbits in the plot. The secondary cast enlivens the novel and in some ways, though their appearances are brief, is much more interesting than Tamsin's retinue of followers. Mr. MacDonald paints a charming novel that shows a strong woman overcoming the rigid chains of society.

A jolly little book
This delightful children's book follows the exploits of a young teacher Miss Cushy Butterpat. Everyone likes Miss Butterpat but everyone, from her grandmother to her pupils think she is as ordinary as they come and no one thinks she will do anything exciting during the summer holidays. How wrong they are! Miss Butterpat with her newly knitted blue jumper dresses up as a sailor and sails away to South America, she dances in the local carnival and then goes off to explore the jungle. She's almost squashed by a boa constrictor, has to sleep in a tent, and even ends up using her jumper to help her fly across a river. All in all Miss Butterpat has a wonderful time, spending time with local Indians and becoming an adept drum player, to playing poker where she wins a bag of gold which she uses to pay for a luxury cruise back home. However upon her return to school and her pupils, Miss Butterpat is unable to convince anyone what she has done so she pretends all she did for the holiday was stay with her grandmother, and help look after her garden. This is lovely book with colorful pictures, and just enough text for a new reader who wants something fun and different, which this book certainly is! Miss Butterpat is a wonderful creation, especially at the end of the book when she decides to knit a jumper that she will use when she eventually climbs Mount Everest.

Great for educators
As a student of American History and as a teacher of American History and Government I have found this book to be incredibly helpful, informative and inspiring. Malcolm X is a figure in American History that deserves more recognition and this book helps students and teachers re-evaluate his contributions. It also worth reading even if you are not a teacher or a student but just interested in malcolm X and African-American studies.

Great Book On Organic Gardening
Howard covers the essentials of Basic Organic Gardening as well as the how to's. I bought the book at Rohde's for about the same price before shipping. If you can't get to Garland; but it here. We just completed our 20'x20' raised bed garden. Our front yard is the lushest greenest yard in the neighborhood with NO CHEMICALS. We have been a fan of Howard for a few years now.

Excellent overview of theoretical physics

Finding faith without the boundaries of religion.
For many years, I have been reading aticles and books by and about Meher Baba-- a compelling spiritual figure who lived 1894-1969 in India. I specially like this book as it recounts, in simple and clear terms, the day-to-day experiences of several people over a three-week period when they stayed with Meher Baba (born Merwan S. Irani in Poona, MS, India). This book provides an insight into the life and work of a sadguru or "spiritual master" of remarkable sensitivity and compassion: one who possesses a truly delightful sense of humor! It helped me "come to peace" with what I once perceived as the world's "religio-political machines" and their grim depiction of God, and begin to see the purpose and harmony behind all faiths and all people. The books provides insights into Meher Baba's mind and heart which, along with his "Universal Message," helped me find my self.

A Quality comparison
The late Louis E. Lomax (1922-1970) wrote this book shortly after Dr. King's assassination. He traces the path of both leaders. He shows the forces that brought the 2 leaders together on many issues. He also show the opposition forces to these men that materialized into assassins. I recommend that you read this book.

Re-release of a classic
The Liaison was the first album from Abraxas, in 1993, and it was edited only in japan. Then in 1998, this classic of the heavy-progressive metal was re-released and remastered for Europe.
About the album, it's a must buy. Chris Klauke (ex-Mania) is on the vocals, and the faster songs with the melodic lines he plays makes this album a great choice and a classic.

How should TQM be implemented, read the examples!
he Baldrigde Quality System quantifies the quality of a company with a score from zero to a thousand points. Even the best companies are far behind the thousand point limit, but the writers found 53 examples that, at least for one aspect, owe almost the maximum of the available points. Ben&Jerry's, Ford, 3M and AT&T are just a few of the companies that have provided information for the book. Still the book is not a list of 'perfect case examples' but the writers managed to let the theory and practice explain solutions to daily problems and improved management techniques. Although none of the issues dealt with is explained in the smallest detail or with an extensive number of examples, but this books provides a broad view for new managers or managers new to TQM.
