This book by Malcolm Knopp and Robert Cormier is destined to be a fishing classic. The pair has provided research and usable information on maylfy identification, insect behavior during their life stages, imitative patterns and fishing technique pointers.

I have modified my fishing techniques to match the behaviours noted in the book.

I have also found it very useful in making flies that work on hard fished eastern waters.

The first book I know of that combines practical entemology (geared specifically to the angler) with up-to-date patterns, and methods of fishing them. The nearest thing to it in spirit is "Caddisflies". Should be in every serious flyfisher's collection!

I would give this book more stars if Amazon would let me. This book is quite the mystery! The historial mystery is one of the more interesting features in America, how did Meriwether Lewis die? Mr. Shuman takes us on a wonderful trip in his exploration of this mystery. Plus, the added bonus, there is the present day mystery and how they relate. Mr. Shuman does a great job of closing all the loose ends in a very believible ending. A long the way we learn more about Pepper and Alan, and their romance. What twist and turns our heroes go through! Very interesting thories about Meriwether Lewis. I look forward to more by you Mr. Shuman! END

People interested in the details of archeological research will find all of Shuman's books absorbing. With this novel, Shuman also reaches into one of the fascinating, true mysteries of American history---how did Meriwether Lewis die?---to deliver a witty, fast-paced love -and-lust story using his serial hero, Alan Graham, as the narrator. Whereas the typical detective story is focused on a private eye, Shuman's mysteries are solved by a Louisiana archeologist. It's hard not to get involved in Graham's workaday world of contracts, contour maps, surveying, and psychology, along with his current mystery, current infatuation, and current observations about his aging self. However, you don't have to be a weathered mystery buff or an experienced digger to find the Meriwether story completely enjoyable as well as informative. It is very well-written, a fast read, and an especially satisfying one for readers who have visited Baton Rouge and recognize the landmarks Shuman fondly describes. This is one of those rare, modest books that anybody can like.

This book is essential for anybody interested in learning about the nursing theory, Modeling and Role-Modeling. The content includes rationale for the theory, the underlying assumptions and conceptual bases for the theory, and guidelines for applying the theory. While the original printing was in 1985 and additional research and applications have further developed various parts of the theory, the basic elements of the theory have not changed since its inception. Because this theory is applicable across settings and client populations, it is highly recommended!

If one sums up Calinescu's book on modernity and this very complete anthology, one has probably the best combination to undertand this movement. Bradbury and McFarlane select some of the best examples I have seen for the topic and give a very clear perspective on the topic. Readers of some of the most important authors of the history of literature, like Joyce or Baudelaire, will find a clear contextualization based not on contemporary interpretations but by the critics of the time.

This collection of critical essays does much to clarify the readers understanding and enhance one's appreciation of the period that produced such great works as Ulysses and The Waste Land. By laying a ground work that focuses on historical and geographical scholarship and the individual movements that make up Modernism the editors have succeeded in portraying Modernism in all of its diversity. This book is essential to those who want a good, non-reductive introduction a great literary movement.

Senger was a professed Hitler secptic . Whilst there must be much post war revisionism, his analysis and commentary (he has a section at the end on why germany could never have won, ie it is too small a nation)and the fact that it was first published in 1960, gives authenticity to his views.

He starts with a brief account of his not eventfull part in the 1940 western campaign and his role as liaison to the italians. His first "active combat role" was in charge of the 17th Panzer in the attempted relief of stalingrad and aftermath. He then has a liaison role in Sicily, evacuates Corisica/ Sardinia followed by cassino and the retreat up Italy. His narrative is not only descriptive but also has insightful sections on tatical and operational considerations.

This is a book about how a just man fights an unjust war. General Frido Von Senger Und Etterlin details his triumphs, mistakes and thoughts in his very successful wartime career. In this books you will not find any of his ego, instead you will find the reflections of a bright, Christian man who did his best. He willingly tells of his failures as easily as his victories. This book is not only for the historian. It is for anyone who wants to understand what the mind and soul of a man endures as he undergoes long periods of trial. This often quoted book is a requirement for anyone who wants to understand the operational level of war while at the same time does not want to lose touch with the trenches. Don't pass this book up if you have the time to read it, you'll never put it done. It is a rare jewel known only to a precious few.

May I briefly urge music lovers to search out this book about Malcolm Arnold. The author, Piers Burton-Page, reminds us that as a player Arnold was Britain's finest young trumpeter. He then developed rapidly as a composer, reaching his widest audiences with many film scores (The Bridge on the River Kwai, Hobson's Choice, and Whistle down the Wind are among the favourites) and brilliant orchestral works.

Burton-Page paints a fascinating portrait of a composer who has worked in many fields, and whose complex personality gives his music a depth and range which are only hinted at in some of his more popular works.

Why is this valuable book no longer available? In late 2001, just when many concerts around the world are celebrating Arnold's 80th birthday, it seems perverse that the book is no longer in print. There must be some enterprising publisher out there who should seize the moment. Get the authoritative Piers Burton-Page to revise the book and bring it up to date. Burton-Page charts the extraordinary ups and downs of a leading musican's life with affection and honesty. Now let's have the revised edition.

I am biased of course! But I spent 10 years on and off writing about the life and music of Sir Malcolm Arnold - now 75 - and it was a labour of love. He is severely ill with a form of brain damage that has impaired his memory: even so, it was wonderful how he was able to recall incidents from his earliest years in remarkable detail. He was able to help me enormously with the events of his later life too. All this started with a love of his music, and I hope this is reflected in my biography, too. What a shame it is already out of print. Come on some of you publishers out there, how about asking me for an update, and then reprinting

It was all I could do to keep from laughing out loud when I was reading "The Picnic" story on the train. Larry returns to England after 10 years' absence and embarks on a picnic with Mother, Margo, Margo's husband Jack, Leslie and of course Gerry. The consequences are hilarious of course. Adult Durrell mayhem at its best - what a wonderfully wacky family! This is great if you can't get enough of them!

An absolute corker of a book! This short story collection has six enchanting short stories - from the warm,cozy atmosphere of Durrell's family on "Pudding Isle"(England) to the fast paced eerie short story about the mirrors . Written in typical Gerald Durrell narrative, the reader is exposed to a whole range of settings - from the british countryside, to the laid back mediterranean charm, from the French winegrowing district blossoming in the sun , to classic Gothic horror settings! A must have for durrell fans, and those new to Durrell alike!

This is a sober and informative work on pregnancy and childbirth. My wife rates it as the bible of pregnancy, because no matter what symptom she had it appeared in the book and gave her a clear and rational explanation of what was going on. On first glance this book probably loses out to competing publications which have lots of colour pictures and small amounts of text. But that's a bit like getting lots and lots of salad but finding that there's no main course.

If you are college educated, or if you can read competently, and if you demand real answers from you doctor, you will like this book. If on the other hand you do not really want to be given the gruesome details, if you are a hypochondriac who will imagine every symptom described or if you cannot follow my review because you think the sentences are too long and complicated, then this is not the book for you. Buy one with pretty pictures instead.

When buying "Pregnancy" don't expect a book full of 'colourful pictures'.

It is an excellent source of information for most of the questions you might have about pregnancy - what changes are happening to you and your body, and what is going on inside you during the nine months -including detailed information on any complaints or complications you might have.

It also gives detailed information about the different kinds of delivery and all the possible stages of labour, which I kept referring to especially as the delivery date grew closer!

I found it very informative and well written. I had a lot of questions about 'what was happening' since it was my first pregnancy and I got almost all of my answers from this book rather than any of the gynocologists I went to! It's a must as a reference book.
