Leo-Stage fright
Lydia Bradshaaw is a typical Leo ;she loves the stage and is very dramatic. At the end of performing one of the many plays she has appeared in at her local theatrics club She meets 2 people at the after show party-a rather old fashioned girl named page and a handsome, charming Arien called Eric. But her best friend A.J likes him too ,it all goes terribly wrong when she gets more then a pleasent suprise. Before she knows it Lydia realises that some one is out to hurt her, so read this exelent book to find out what happens to Lydia, will some one kill her? Who is her stalker?I think this book is well worth reading i give it a well deserved 9 out of ten

The Life and Music of Bela Bartok

A must-buy for every Bartok fan.
An excellent book on the great Twentieth-Century composer, being both a biography in the usual sense, but also providing definitive analyses of his major works. The detailed description of Bartok's six string quartets, leaves little more to be said of them -- unless you want to go to monographs like Prof. Leo Treitler's Ph.D dissertation on the Fourth Quartet alone. A must for any Bartok lover. [updated email address]

Life Beyond Life - A Picture of Heaven
This is a wonderful little book that packs a tremendous amount of comfort into its few pages. For those who are facing a battle with cancer, for those who fear death or for those who just want a deeper understanding of heaven, I highly recommend this book. You will want to read it, meditate on it and share it with many others.

it deserves a 10....
....for the introduction alone, written by Malcolm Margolin, who discusses the actual life of California Indians in the Missions in 1786, the year two French ships brought Jean Francois de la Perouse to Monterey to see for himself what was going on. The book is largely his journal, and an honest one it is, European prejudices and all.

The routines, the manacles, the superstitious judgmentalism of the ruling padres are sketched here, as well as the mistreatment by Spanish soldiers, and hanging over all, the depression of a people who'd held their hand out in friendship and been conquered, systematized, and subjected to deicide by idealists who brought into their land what had never been there before: homelessness, poverty, hierarchy, and plaguelike illnesses that rippled outward around each Mission.

Want to be humorous without being a clown? This is the book
This is a tremendous book for upper level managers on the use (and misuse) of humor in the workplace. Kushner is informative and helpful without being silly. He treats his reader as an adult and although there are smiles and laughs aplenty throughout, he never forgets that his goal is to provide some workable techniques for using humor as a management tool to enhance both quality of life and quality of productivity. I bought it years ago and return to read it often.

A Witty and Sometimes Curious Account of the Royal Household
Malcolm Barker takes you behind the scenes condensing 4 years into a 1 year chronology of events occuring in the Royal household. From the drunken staff members to the bizarre behavior of the Officials of the Household, Mr. Barker paints a picture of true disaster, which says it all in the original title of the book "Courting With Disaster". The reader will leave with an impression of true confusion and disorganization of the Monarchy that has continually tried to hide its mess from the public. But no more, for if this is all true it paints a sad picture of an institution who's time may have come. To bad this tomb was banned in Britian, you just cannot put it down.

London : a companion to its history and archaeology

Excellent guide & history of what's left to see in London
Though I lived in Europe for several years, I never had the opportunity to visit Great Britain, so it may be odd that I've long had a strong interest in the history of London. This well-written and beautifully illustrated survey of the capital's course since its founding by the Romans c.50 A.D. is very satisfying in that regard. Billings, a sort of non-academic historian at the BBC, is heavy on the architecture and archaeology of London's churches, but that's about all that remains from the earlier centuries. He also doesn't have much good to say about the British habit of continually tearing down historical structures and replacing them with badly designed office blocks -- which is all the more frustrating since so little that was built before the 18th century survived both the Great Fire of 1666 and the more recent Blitz. There's also a very good "brief guide" to the City's Churches and an extensive bibliography.

What a great book!
Wow - I'm amazed that this book hasn't got more attention. First off it looks like a coffee table bookw ith loads of good pix and graphics - there is one of McLaren & Westwood from 1971 which is incredible. I've got all the books and pix relating to the Sex Pistols and this pair but I've never seen that one before.

Anyway there are loads of examples for everyone - the Elvis pix are great as are the Beatles and Mod ones. But once you start reading it really comes into its own.

There are interviews with the guy that made Elvis's clothes way back in teh eraly 50s as well as The Beatles tailor but also up to date people like Wayne Hemingway.

My own criticism is that there isn't enough on American style but I guess since we stole a whole lot from the limeys it could be justified.

Can't recommend it enough.

Pete

This is the most valuable nature book in our library!
The illustrations in this book are fantastic! The artist's renderings of animals are colorful, refined and better than photographs. The book is divided into five sections, mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fishes. Each page offers illustrations and a discription of the animal, it's habitat, and behaviour. If we see an animal and don't know what it is, the first thing we do is look in this book. A wonderful addition to any home library.
