I currently breed other breeds of dogs and am now searching for a PUG. This book has all the information you need to purchase a pug. It includes grooming, showing and training as well as problems with the breed. Before you buy a pug read the chapter "choosing and caring for a pug puppy"! This book has great photos however they are all in black and white!

Best Pug Book on the market today !
This book was so complete, from giving the full history of the breed to complete information on each of the major breeders of the dog today. I found that this book reads easily, is entertaining as well as informative, and provides information not previously covered in other Pug books. Its a must-have! - Susan Aschner, Pug Lover.

Rhymes for Annie Rose

A favourite at our house
We read this book at least once a day when my daughter was 18 months old, until she was three. She really identified with Annie Rose, and the day-to-day events in Annie Rose's life. As a parent, I enjoyed this book too, even after the one-millionth reading. I think toddlers and preschoolers really enjoy the peeks at everyday life that Shirley Hughes creates.

This is the sweetest book for babies and young children.
I named my baby girl, Annie Rose, and so when I found out about this book I had to snatch one up! It is an adorable and gentle little poetry book for young children. My baby enjoys it; even my 3- and 5-year-old boys love it. They think Annie Rose is so funny and they like her big brother, Alphie too. We have read this book many times together and have enjoyed it every time.

A two-year-old's thought on this book.
My two-year-old daughter recently received this book for her birthday. She was immediately intrigued by it and wanted it read to her often. About two days later she picked it up once again to have it read to her and announced, "I yove dis book."

Suns Go Down

A Superb Kansas Saga
Being a fellow Kansan myself with farm-family roots back to the Civil War, I found SUNS GO DOWN to be a masterful depiction of the ups and downs, failings and triumphs, of four generations of one Flint Hills family not too unlike my own. Rich in characterization and setting, this is the work of an award-winning author at the height of her craft and completely at home with her subject matter. It's a true family saga, anchored in the 50s, that transports the reader away through time and psychological depth. The Lutzs, amid the plot's twists and turns, become a part of the reader's own world. I've long admired the short stories of Shirley Sikes. This novel, however, is a crowning achievement.

Intriguing Picture of Kansas Life
Suns Go Down, an excellent American saga, deals with a small-town community and how the unique people who inhabit it interact with the past, which has made them what they are, and with each other. Shirley Sikes writes with compassion and empathy about the human situation, the heroism of the common person, and the importance of family.

Suns Go Down
Shirley Sikes has created a splendid family saga filled with dynamic, rich characters. It is a summer read to thoroughly savor. She transported me to small town Kansas in the 1950's. It was a memorable, satisfying journey with a masterful storyteller.

Truth

100 Years From Now
My first reaction upon opening "The Truth" at a random page (the way I've always read Shirley's other books) is amazement in how so few words can have such a disarming impact. If you have the courage to read this, you won't look at anything the same way again - whether you agree or not with the message. I believe 100 (or more) years from now, civilization will look back at "The Truth" and still be awed by it. Personally, "The Truth" resonates unlike anything 10 times its length.

It's What We Came For
A small innocent looking book. But it is more profound than anything I have ever read before. It speaks to the part of me that has never been satified with any job, relationship or belief system. It offers ultimate freedom. Who will accept the offer?

More Brilliant than all the stars in the desert sky:
The words in this short book are more brilliant than all the stars in the desert sky. Their potency is immense. Therefore, fair warning. As in the movie, "The Matrix", where the hero is given the choice of taking the red pill, which reveals the truth, or the blue pill, which puts you back to sleep forever, know this: Once you read this book, your life will never be the same. All of your assupmtions and perceptions about what's so will be challanged. I said in another review of a Shirley Luthman book that these books are for warriors only. Navy Seals training is easy compared to dealing with the truth. Shirley Luthman writes about existance at the sub-atomic level. When you read her words, you can expect your body to react at the level. These reactions might surprise you. That being said, if you go ahead and read this book, you'll discover a foundation of a world that is wonderful beyond imagining. You will see the glimmer of your deepest wishes fufilled. You may even catch a glimpse of who you really are in the light that shines from these pages. You will also see the many lies and falsehoods upon which the present world is based. Are you tough enough for "The Truth"? The choice is yours.

If Only Shirley Were My Mom!
A friend gave me this book and I read it in one sitting. It made me feel like I had the family I have always dreamed of having. If only Shirley were real! Kudos to the author and to the publisher for giving us something so simple and yet so powerful. When will the next book be out? I could use a trip back home!

oh no, it is me
I loved the book, Toni could have been writing about me. Life in the fast lane. We all want to be loved and appreciated. What we don't always know is why others appreciate us. Toni brings reality home in this book. A truly very real and funny look at herself.

Dont miss this one!
I walked into the store, and I thought I saw my name as author of this book. That is what caught my eye. I picked up it, read the back, and bought it! Shirley is every mom of the 90's! I am starting a book forward. Now that I have read it, I have dedicated this book for every mother. We are going to sign it with our email addresses, and hopefully turn Ms. Sorenson Brown's book into a web site! I have the space! Every Mother needs to read this book. Without it, we would all keep buying into an image that we just are not all about. Love you Ms Sorenson Brown!

WOW!
What an outstanding read!! I absolutely could not put it down! It will be a long time before I sort through all the details of the culture and religion. I am thankful for my freedom......

what a wonderful book!
As a avid reader, this is one on the best books I have read all year! I could not put it down! The customs and traditions of the characters are unbelievable! The story kept me so close that I would feel my heart racing! I whole heartly recommend this book.

A Veiled Journey
I totally enjoyed this book and could NOT put it down. It was a nail biter just about all the way through. While the book is fiction, it did touch on a lot of customs and practices in Saudi Arabia, making it for a very informational book as well.

Who Made Me

Beautiful pictures and story
This beautifully illustrated book tells a simple story that can be appreciated on many levels. I used it in a mixed age Sunday School class (4-10 year olds) and I think all the kids enjoyed it AND got something out of it.

Spectacular artwork, delightful story.
Zanele has one big question. Who made her? to help her find the answer, she turns to her friends, the animals of the African bush. What she discovers by the end of the day is wiser than she ever imagined. Cathie Felstead's spectacular artwork is a perfect showpiece for Shirley Tulloch's engaging and delightful story.

excellent!
I really enjoyed this book - it's written and illustrated beautifully. The US Publishers Weekly calls it 'quiet and reverend', 'a book that captures the vastness of the African landscape'. That is exactly how I felt when the author presented me with a copy! The story is deceptively simple, and becomes ever more beautiful as it sinks in. It makes an excellent christening present.

The Wild Vine

The Wild Vine
A TANTALIZING TALE: This superbly written novel, The Wild Vine, by authors Sandra Pesini and Shirley Mattson Wolf, kept me extremely interested in this captivating tale. Based on the actual experiences, this gripping novel depicts the traumatic, heart wrenching times that a young girl, Abigail, was forced to endure. The story details how she withstood the deceit and abuse forced upon her and how she faced the challenges that life had to offer with sheer courage. Every time I had to put this book down, I could not wait to read it again. This intriguing story has touched every emotion imaginable. I highly recommend this novel and would encourage everyone to read it and enter a world of intrigue and suspicion.

A tale for our times
Collaboratively written by Sandra Pesini and Shirley Mattson Wolf, The Wild Vine is an unusual, 577 page novel which is based on actual experiences. The Wild Vine tells a gripping story about the trauma and long-lasting ill effects that incest and life at a loveless orphanage inflict on a young girl named Abigail. The Wild Vine is a dark story of long-lasting scars and repercussions, and eventually overcoming the nigh-overwhelming challenge of dealing with impossible abuse, as the reader follows Abigail through adolescence and marriage. Compelling and recommended reading -- a tale for our times.

IT'S A WINNER
"Usually I enjoy crime novels or biographies. When I first started to read The Wild Vine. I expected it to be a novel for women. How mistaken I was! The Wild Vine has every kind of emotion imaginable. It is a novel portraying a family's dysfunction in all of its raw explosive drama. Truly a page turner with the impact of a heavyweight boxers left hook. Looking forward to a sequel."-Paul Surden, Philadelphia, Pa.

Wind Child

Story for a Windy Day
The next blustery day, the kind where you stay in doors and make soup, curl up with this book and enjoy a wonderful experience. The illustrations are lovely and filled with the motion of wind. You can almost hear and feel it about you as you go into the story. The writing is lyrical and evocative, brimming with romance and mystery. A girl who does not realize she is the daughter of the stormy east wind develops into a weaver with magical talents of artistry and eventually wins her heart's desire. Here's a sample about her father so you can just imagine how lovely HER story is. "He found a girl who was not afraid of his wildness. They were wed. He built her a house of blowing branches and wind-torn cloud. They were happy there. She bore him a daughter, but then she died." I love this book and I encourage you to read it and let it sweep you up in the winds of its magic.

beautiful!
Beautiful story. Beautiful illustrations. Sit and dream a little with your child (or by yourself). Such joy to read a story which speaks to the heart instead of the cartoonish world which so many children's current books fall into. Your child deserves this book of beauty.

Exquisite plot complemented by beautiful art
Murphy's rhythmical and mythic-sounding text conjoins with the Dillons' subdued and melancholy illustrations to create a subtle and rereadable work of art. I recommend this for anyone who enjoys fairy tales, as well as people who are looking for strong and engaging female protagonists. This one's going in my collection, and neither am I a child nor a librarian, only one who likes fine art.
