Everybody's Dream
The Unsinkable Spirit is truly the book about the dream we've all had at one time or another in our lives. It's amazing that Boris and Shirley sold everything at 24 years old and bought a boat. Even more amazing is that Boris, a native of Croatia, bought books and taught himself to use a sextant - and had only one day of sailing lessons before embarking on this awesome journey!
The Unsinkable Spirit takes readers along on a journalistic journey as the Kings learned to navigate around the world. Boris and Shirley are excellent narrators and readers will be held spellbound as they read about encounters with cannibals, sharks and a face-to-face battle with a large eel!
Through it all, the love Boris and Shirley have for their families - and their dreams - comes shining through.
I've never read a book like this. I honestly couldn't put it down! I can't wait for the next episode! Don't just take may word for it. Read the first chapter for yourself at wwww.theunsinkablespirit.com. Only then will you begin to understand how this couple fought valiantly to make their dream a reality. You'll want to stand up and cheer at their triumphs and cry at their tragedies. Through it all, the spirit of living one's dream will challenge even the most insecure reader.
Shirley says it this way: "It doesn't take an extraordinary person to do extraordinary things."
This book is a keeper. You'll want extra copies for your friends!

Could not put it down.
WOW. This book was a real great read. If anyone out there has ever dreamed of sailing the south pacific, this is the book to read. A real treat.

Valle Verde: Sequel to Beneath the Canopy

Wonderful Sequel!
"Valle Verde" by Shirley Chance Yarbro is, by far, her best book yet! It is a terrific sequel to, and even better than, "Beneath the Canopy". I really enjoyed the change from settings, and really liked the real American history put into it. This book would make a great movie! And I am truly looking forward to Mrs. Yarbro's next release(s). I absolutely recommend this book to you readers who have read "Beneath the Canopy".

True Western Adventure
"Valle Verde", by Shirley Chance Yarbro, is a story of how peoples' lives can become caught up between history and progress. The author did some good research on the Apache Indians and tells of how the railroad first came to west Texas.
She also tells how greed can bring grief and hardships to innocent people. The story changes locales several times, and that adds interest. All in all, I found it very worthwhile reading.

Extraordinarily good recipes, rich reading; a simple joy .
I first encountered this book through the aisles of my public library. I re-checked it so many times that I had to see if it was still in print. To my happy surprise it was. I love it for the great recipes and the warm and rich memories of a by-gone time; though I did find mention of a place I had travelled to on my honeymoon in 1996--a qaint little town called Annecy, in France. She described her experience much as I had recalled my own happy time there! This book is simply enchanting and everything I've made from it has been a rewarding and deliciously wonderful dining experience. Try the Green Beans Brittany Style or the simple Escarole Salad. Really good!

Old-World-French-Cuisine...Resurrected!

Is it really possible to cook French food? I wonder how hard this recipe book will be...probably impossible. Aren't all French cookbooks a little hard to understand, my last one was...oh well, I have jet lag keeping me awake, I might as well read this somewhat interesting French cookbook my mother set out for me to read on our return from Europe...here goes!

Incredible! Amazing! When can I start cooking this food? I'm going to give this book as Christmas gifts to all my "Reader-Friends" because this isn't just a classy cookbook, this is an old world novel!

You'll never know that French cooking could be so de---liciously-romantic (need I go on?);

possible to cook? - even for the novice (like yourself!);

exciting! - because you can use all the taboo "fat" foods like butter and cream (we all know that butter and cream makes everything taste better), and without gaining weight (!!)...

Yes, you'll never know until you read "When French Women Cook" (similar to reading a classic, century-old-novel) that you too can actually cook this practical, sumptuous food and be known as a gourmet French chef. (well, almost!)

At least you can say you read this fantastic cookbook-novel that inspired you to cook these incredible tasting dishes! I think one should go to Madeleine Kamman's French Cooking School in France to really qualify as a pro French chef.

OK ?...Let's go!...Bonjour!

REVIEW FROM TRAVELWRITER MARKETLETTER
This is the review that appeared in TravelWriter MarketLetter that goes to travel writers all over the world...

"The Table of Contents for this book is very reader-friendly. Under each chapter heading are all of the chapter's subheads, with page numbers, so if you want to reread the paragraph on seasickness, for example, you find it under Chapter 2, page 35, and find it quickly. The first several chapters tell the many differences between sailing on a small ship and a large one, discuss costs, things to do, places small ships can go, and the many questions the reader might have about small ships. There's a chapter on life aboard a small ship, with detailed descriptions, then one on saving money on cruises with various ploys, and a chapter on ship profiles which takes up more than half the book describing more than 200 ships. The final two chapters are about barge cruising on canals, and sailing in small romantic schooners. It's all good, juicy writing, even if your cruise is not imminent. But if you are about to take a cruise, it will save you money, prepare you, and insure that you have fun."

Small ships that go to off-the-beaten path places
This is a book that tells what life is like on small ships (fewer than 500 passengers) and it includes everything from cruise ships to barges, freighters, dive boats, sailing ships. You can search by destination and find ships that go to wonderful places that you can't go to in big ships.

A 10-Week Recovery Program for Overcoming Panic, Anxiety, & Phobias
Published in Audio Cassette by Whole Person Associates (January, 1997)
Authors: Shirley Babior and Carol Goldman
Amazon base price: $99.00
Average review score:

With the 10-Week Recovery Program, I finally did recover.
After years of unsuccessfully fighting panic attacks, I had just about given up. I was so discouraged and felt like such a failure.

I had been working with a therapist, but I could only see her once every two weeks. In the meantime, my panic attacks would get worse, and at each visit, it seemed like I was starting all over again.

My therapist finally recommended the Recovery Program. It includes Overcoming Panic, Anxiety, & Phobias, and it also has 5 audio tapes. You're supposed to listen to one side of a tape, about 15 minutes, every day for a week. During that week, you also use a little booklet that goes along with the tape and read in the book. I found that they reinforced each other and gave me the support I needed to keep going.

The other part of the recovery program is the CalmDown relaxation tape. I used it every day in the beginning. Gradually, I learned how to relax my body and my mind without even needing the tape.

Now I can do everything I want to do without the fear and confusion that made me miserable for so long.

Realistic Look at Prostitution
I was drawn into the story of abuse and couldn't put it down until I had finished 12Th Street Rita. It's a true story of how one girl becomes a prostitute and how she gets out of the life. It's very graphic in the details and I felt I was there with her on the streets. I cried with her and I laughed with her. It's a page turner with lots of adventure.

"What Do You Wish For?"
This book was written by Shirley Jackson whose spooky short story, "The Lottery", you might have had to read in High School.Originally published in 1963, it's back now with beautiful new illustrations filled with color and dreams from the lively imagination of childhood.
What if a magician with stars on his hat suddenly came up to you and gave you 9 wishes? Would you wish to live forever, or for world peace or for something much more wonderful like "a squirrel holding a nut that opens and inside is a Christmas tree." The wishes our lucky girl chooses are delightful and the illustrations of them are pure magic. The ending is the most beautiful part of a very special book. Read this one and find out.
