I love this book. I really liked how all the authors used the same contest in all of the stories. This is a great read. For Amos, Forster, and Hailstock fans you will not be disappointed. Much love from a Fan!

Love Conquers All!!
This anthology was simply beautiful. I especially enjoyed the first one, written by Robyn Amos. It usually ends up that way. Two friends after long awaited years discover that they have deep-seated feelings for each other. That is a beautiful thing. Well, I enjoy the holiday anthology's by arabesque's super talented authors. Keep up the good work.

charming
I have been reading this book to our grandchildren since our first grandchild was born - he is now 19 years of age(he was four or five when I bought the book). Our youngest is now two and a half years old. It's a fun book to read with the children and my way of letting them all know how thankful I am for each and every one. I highly recommend it to any Grandma out there.

Pleasing little book for nearly every grandmother to give
Charming illustrations of grandchildren interacting with their grandmother in common activities such as baking cookies, a zoo trip, talking on the phone, playing a game etc. Grandmothers and children of different ethic backgrounds are portrayed which broadens the scope of the book even further. Hugs and hand holding are pictured to enhance the overall feelings of love and caring. Every child would feel extra special receiving this little gem from a loving grandmother.

Fresh look at contrasts between Regency English and Irish.
When it was discovered that young Patrick O'Fallon inherited a vast fortune from his grandfather, his older sister Evleen wanted to accompany him on the journey to England. While in England, Evleen takes a liking to Lord Thomas Alberdsley, son of the Marquess of Wythe. The older man, however, objected to a marriage between the couple, simply because Evleen was Irish. Shirley Kennedy's very descriptive, evocative writing is a refreshing look at the contrasts of English and Irish lifestyles of the Regency era. It is also very nice to see a strong willed Irish heroine who defies stereotypes among the backdrop of London society and the personalities of her own country.

Another Winner by Shirley Kennedy
Shirley Kennedy has not failed us in her newest novel,The Irish Upstart. As with her other books The Rebellious Twin and The Selfless Sister she has once again given us a winner. The Irish Upstart has humor, charm, and greed woven into a heartbreaking family story. One of Shirley Kennedy's talents lies in the development of her characters. She makes each character come alive in this book.Evleen, the oldest daughter,is a true Irish upstart. I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to Ms. Kennedy's next adventure in writing.

The perseverance for truth and freedom in Christ.
This is a sincere and transparent story of a woman's thirst and hunger for God's truth. Shirley Borgialli opens up her life to the reader, and this book is a welcomed literary find to all of us who have made similar choices and have given into our own selfish needs and wants or have followed the enemy's wiles. However, this story of her life shows how God is always in control of our walk, and when our heart desires His true will and plan, He will always show it to us. She exposes the spiritual abuse that she has experienced first hand, and how the Lord turned those experiences around to help her grow and become closer to Him. Shirley uses scriptural passages and truths throughout her book and the reader can definitely see that God inspired each chapter she wrote. I couldn't put this book down once I began reading it. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who isn't afraid of the truth.

Honest book
This book is an excellent view of one woman's Christian walk. It draws the reader in with her ancestors and keeps them captivated through her life. It is a great testimony and is very well written. A great read! I highly recommend it!

First-Rate Work !
I feel sad because "Kinderculture" is the type of book that should be a bestseller or it should be a reference guide for experts who write books that aim for the layperson.

No future for corporation kids
This is a collection of essays on the theme that childhood is a creation of society and today it is the corporations who are constructing childhood.Topics examined include Disney movies,"educational" television,Beavis and Butthead, video games, television wrestling, Barbie, and Macdonald's.Children are shamelessly being exploited for profit with no consideration for their welfare.Graphic violence and sexism is promoted in many video games. The writers want to expose the hypocrisy and exploitation of the corporations who have taken over the minds of children.Macdonald's promotes a family friendly image, yet employees have to put the company well ahead of family interests.Never have a generation of children been subject to such intense exploitation, as this book shows. The writers hope that more parents and teachers question what is being done to the kids.

A Life-Span Approach to Nursing Care for Individuals With Developmental Disabilities
Published in Hardcover by Paul H Brookes Pub Co (September, 1997)
Authors: Shirley P. Roth, Joyce S. Morse, and Ilona Roth
Amazon base price: $49.95

A classic!
I entered the field of Developmental Disabilities with over 20 years in nursing and a certification in continuing education and staff development. Neither my nursing education nor continuing education included enough content to make me an "expert" in this field. I joined the Developmental Disabilities Nurses Association (DDNA) and signed up our nurses to undergo certification. This book was instrumental in refining our nursing practice. In conjunction with this book, I would recommend Batshaw (Children with Disabilities)for medical information and Beirne-Smith, Ittenbach and Patton (Mental Retardation) for an overview on special education. Carolyn E Munroe, M.Ed, RN, CDDN ceamunroe@aol.com

Helpful and Informative
With over 20 years in nursing, I was suprised at how much there was to learn when I started working for the ARC (Assosciation for Retarded Citizens). This book helped me learn while also developing resources for the group home staff. I highly recommend it. It's a classic and worth waiting for.
