A Touching Memoir...
I read this book as a young adolescent... Now, almost 20 years later, I still remember how it touched the depts of my soul. I am of Native American descent and grew up in lovely - yes, lovely - Oklahoma. Why and how I came across this book I cannot recall. I did a search for laughing and weeping and it came up with this title. If you are curious about the Armenian Genocide, the history of the Armenian people, read this book. It's different than a lot of the other titles out there... (I've only read two others regarding this subject...)

Great
Library Journal's review of this guide: "Combining encyclopedic coverage of destinations with loads of practical information and atlas-type maps, the series illuminates the wonders of nature but emphasizes the peculiarity of a place's people and their folklore."

excellent handbook
This book covers everything from the basics of the threat thru the BCW regimes to what the federal government should do to prepare for a disaster of this sort. The closing chapter is what I found the most interesting because of the discussion of ways to deter the use of BCW. The various authors each explain their positions in a thought provoking way that allowed me to think about the problem and arrive at my own conclusions that can be synconized with the writers. This book is great if you want to know what the experts think about this problem and the solutions that they have arrived at.

Provides a fine survey of this symbol of national unity
No Better Hope is an unusual survey of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington and is highly recommended for grades 3-5: it provides a fine survey of this symbol of national unity, covering the development of the Memorial, those involved in its creation, and Lincoln's place in history. Photos by Jennifer Ashabranner abound.

Of the people, by the people, for the people by Abe Lincoln
This book is one of the best, if not the best of the new Lincoln books of this year. Gabor Borit is one of Americas most revered Lincoln scholors, and this book shows why. A must read if you enjoy the history of the Civil War and Lincoln.

The best read on Operating Systems
While doing my graduation, for the Operating Systems (OS) topics, this was by far the best learning book and then a reference. It covers a variety of topics including Memory management, task management and scheduling techniques(quite detailed). The language is very easy going and the diagrams help a lot too.

Would like to get a copy now.

This book is a good overview of Lincoln's life.
The author has purposely addressed the dearth of readable and manageable accounts of Lincoln's life and career. Young people and adults alike will find this book valuable. Although brief compared to the usual tomes written on this subject, the reader will gain a good understanding of the formation of Lincoln's character and magnitude of what he a accomplished. The author's style is smooth and engaging allowing the reader to think about the subject matter rather than struggling from one paragraph to the next. I found that the end of the book came quickley and without great labor. The curious reader will come away from this book with a desire for more knowledge and understanding of this great man.

A Passion for Truth
Published in Paperback by Farrar Straus & Giroux (Pap) (April, 1986)
Author: Abraham Joshua Heschel

Used price: $5.77
Average review score:

Knowing the Kotzker Rebbe
There are a lot of books about Chasidism, but not about this interesting character. In "A Passion for Truth", Abraham Joshua Heschel shows the deep and intricate personality of one of the most significant Chasidic Rabbis: Menajem Mendl of Kotzk. One of the most important things in this book is the link that Heschel establishes between the Kotzker Rebbe and the Danish theologian Soren Kierkegaard. Throughout this amazing book, Heschel shows the semblance and differences of these two important figures of the Nineteen-century. "A Passion for Truth" is a book that everyone who wants to know about Chasidism and the Kotzker-trend system has to read.
