The Hosanna bible
I have had this bible for my youngsters and they love it. Not only does it give the bible verse before the story but, the pictures are excellent. My five year old loves reading this bible because it's fairly easy to read and the colors are vibrant. I especially like the way the New Testament covers a bit of Paul and the return of Christ. I orginally purchased one five years agao and am looking forward to replacing it for my younger one as a few pages are now missing. I hope your toddler to early reader enjoys it as much as my family.

Fascinating social history
Otherwise known as "The Magnificient Shysters," Howe and Hummel were two crooked lawyers of 19th century New York. If you think today's lawyers are crooks, you should read about the exploits of Messrs Howe and Hummel; they bear no comparison. For example you will read about suits for breach of promise. If a man slept with a woman on the understanding that he would shortly marry her, and he broke that promise, the woman could sue him for breach of promise to marry. Some of the lawyers' income depended on a coterie of sophisticated New York women, semi-prostitutes, who "led on" innocent young men from the sticks up in New York for the first time. After a brief relationship these women would file suit for breach of promise and daddy would invariably pay up rather than face the embarrassment of a public court case. If you like reading about the hidden by-ways of history you will love this book. A great little book.

Timeless...Made me smile
I read this book nearly 7 years ago and still remember a few of the anecdotes with fondness. At the time I was 13 and could appreciate the simple logic of Mr. Lincoln and his sparkling wit. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a nostalgic read that won't confront you with questions about Lincoln's political ambitions or racial attitudes. It is simply about a man, famous though he may have been, he was also smart and funny. In an age when humor is all about hurtful, shock-value jokes, this reminds us that it takes far more to make someone laugh and be able to do so more than 100 years after you are gone.

Biography of an American visionary- Abraham Flexner
Professor Thomas Neville Bonner who is a distinguished historian and has authored several books about medical education has produced a real literary gem in "Iconoclast-Abraham Flexner and a life in learning". Abraham Flexner and his brother Simon were true giants in reforming medical education and introducing scientific medical research respectively in the USA at the beginning of 20th century. Abraham Flexner's life story is traced with marked clarity and precision of details in this remarkable book. Professor Bonner informs us about his fascination with Abraham Flexner's work in the Introduction by reading his first book "The American College" followed by the famous "Flexner Report- Medical Education in the US and Canada" published in 1910. He then takes us through Abraham's early years growing up as the youngest son of poor immigrant Jewish parents in late 19th century in Reconstruction Louisville, Kentucky, his graduation from high school, attendance at the newly opened Johns Hopkins University and coming back to Louisville at age 19 to become a teacher at his alma mater, Louisville Male High School. Thereafter he becomes principal of his own highly successful preparatory school. At age 42, he " breaks free" from Louisville and enrolls at Harvard and susequently at Oxford in Britain and then at Berlin University in Germany. On his return back to the U.S.A, he is commissioned by Henry Pritchett of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching to survey 155 medical schools in north America. Flexner Report was a scathing critique of the deplorable conditions of the then extant medical schools and catapulted him into an education specialist status overnite. After being hired by the Rockefeller Foundation, Abraham Flexner was in a unique position to implement medical education reforms, start full-time plan and improve university-hospital affiliations by being able to disburse huge sums of Rockefeller largesse.Bonner points out the immense influence Abraham Flexner enjoyed being at the helm of an epochal reform movement in medical education. He was an author, a negotiator, a highly effective fund-raiser and a philanthropist. He established the Instiute for Advanced Study in Princeton, NJ which became an intellectual powerhouse , through the philanthropy of Louis Bamberger and was solely responsible for Albert Einstein's immigration to the USA. Abraham Flexner's long life was a multi-faceted and highly eventful one. Professor Bonner has done an admirable job in writing this thoroughly researched and definitive biography which will serve as a highly dependable reference work for future researchers. He writes with great clarity and conviction. The book reads like a novel with tremendous intrigue and drama. I recommend this book as a required reading for medical students, physicians and medical educators.General public will also find this book extremely enjoyable and informative

"Intelligent interfaces and systems" constitute important topics in the last decade artificial intelligence conferences. The field is developing both by the increasing number of applications and by their complex capabilities as intelligent agents, speech and image understanding, environment decision making, bio-inspired sensor and neuro-fuzzy systems.

The volume is addressing a very wide range of scientists, employing both theoretical and practical aspects, experienced knowledge in building and using intelligent systems.

The Editors (well-known personalities in the artificial intelligence field, with a prodigious scientific activity authors of many books, tutorials and papers) selected fundamental aspects, software-, sensors-, and hardware-related issues, in order to realize a comprehensive coverage of the field.

The volume is organized in four sections each of them being structured in more chapters.

The first two chapters of the section "Intelligent agents and bio-inspired systems" deal with aspects of building and using various types of "intelligent agents". Chapter 1: "A tutoring based approach to the development of intelligent agents" particularly presents "Disciple", an apprenticeship, multistrategy learning system mend to develop intelligent agents (supervised learning - through examples, explanations and corrections - for specific tasks). Machine learning and knowledge acquisition techniques (inductive, explanation-based, analogy, experimentation) are employed. Chapter 2: "An object-oriented framework for building collaborative network agents" is developed on the design of software agents supporting interoperability in a heterogeneous computing system with a dynamically creating agents mechanism. In the third chapter "Navigation: Animals as Autonomous Robots" - animats (intelligent systems that mimic animal behavior) carry out complex spatial-navigation tasks (multiple target finding, barrier detour and maze learning) in a discrete (in time and space) diffusion surface. The system has been proposed as a guidance schema for the efficient identification of suspected land mines. The fourth chapter "From configurable circuits to bio-inspired systems" describes six applications in the domain of configurable computing, considering both static systems (SPYDER - REconfigurable Processor Development System, RENCO - REconfigurable Network Computer, FPGA - based backpropagation neural network), and dynamic systems (The Firefly machine, The Bio Watch and The FAST Neural Network -Flexible, Adaptable-Size Topology).

The second section of the volume is devoted to "Intelligent data processing". In chapter 5, "Fuzzy Data Mining", fuzzy inference procedures are used to process the extraction of useful information from databases. Chapters 6 and 7 "Feature-oriented hybrid neural adaptive systems and applications" and, respectively, "Algebraic neuro-fuzzy systems and applications", describes feature-space, neuro, neuro-fuzzy and hybrid methods in intelligent data processing, and demonstrates different applications ranging from feature extraction and pattern recognition, to human-like signal and image processing, to decision making.

"Interfaces", the third part of the book deals with aspects related to intelligent interfaces. In "Neuro-fuzzy approach to natural language understanding and processing" - chapters 8 (part I) and 9 (part II), a generic, dynamically-configurable neuro-fuzzy device (NFD), having interactive communication capabilities, with an environment dependent evolution and behavior, is designed. New algorithms of progressive learning are presented. In chapter 10" Graph matching and similarity" the focus is on the fundamental aspects of graph manipulation in view of increasing the intelligence of graphical interfaces.

The fourth section of the volume "Applications and High-tech Management" comprises interesting, well developed "Diagnosis systems and strategies" (chapter 11), "intelligent non-destructive testing and evaluation" methods - industrial applications (chapter 12), in uncertainty, fuzzy and neural approaches. Finally, the last two chapters "Managing high-tech projects", part I and II, emphasize the importance of an integrative perspective on intelligent systems playing an essential part in the success of such projects.

The volume also contains an index of terms, which facilitate a very quick and direct access to new technical, domain-specific, terms. Extensive references are included, offering the reader a perspective on the currently existing literature and trends.

The contributors joint together in this volume to offer a valuable systematic overview of the "Intelligent interfaces and systems" domain and a deep practical knowledge in building and using these intelligent tools in a very wide range of applications. This book is conceived to be an important reference on intelligent systems for a large audience and is highly recommended for graduate and postgraduate students, engineers from high-tech industries and researchers, teachers - to be used as supplementary readings in graduate and post-graduate courses.

Isaiah truly revealed
This is one of the greatest books ever written on the great Bible Prophet Isaiah! I highly recommend this book to anyone searching for Bible truths, studying Isaiah, or who really wants to know the true nature of God. What I really liked about the book was that Dr. Gileadi is such a good writer pain and easy to understand, and he wrote the book in such a manner that the reader does not have to know a lot about the Bible, religion, or even have ever read the book of Isaiah to understand it. Dr. Gileadi is a brilliant man and he truly cracked the encoded message of Isaiah. This book is a must read for anyone searching for true religion. I give it 5 stars.

Great things come in small packages!
This books covers a Kaleidoscope of subjects. From Stress to Preceptions, & lots of subjects in between. Most no more than a page & 1/2 in length. A few references to "scripture" that I had no access to not being Jewish, and a some to Psalms & Proverbs. I didn't feel it took away from the teaching & comfort of this Grand little book. Down to earth, spiritual, reflective. It made me smile and at times Pause to think. This book is a Blessing to anyone you reads it.
