A quality, informative publication for a great price
This book was a surprise. Being interested in knowing about JS Bach's devotional life, I expected to read a commentary on Bach's interlinear comments in his copy of the Calov Bible Commentary. Indeed, the book does have that, but it also has, which was a nice surprise, high quality reproductions (photos) of the actual pages in the commentary with Bach's handwriting. Hence, this book becomes a facsimile edition, and the low price is unheard of for a book of this quality (cloth cover, high quality paper, etc). Highly recommended not only for the music scholar, but any lover of Bach's music who wants to know more about what made the man tick.

Reflections from the Road
If you've ever been on the road, alone, away from home and your family -- on assignment, selling, taking classes -- then you will be moved by Abraham's reflections on two tough but intense weeks in Jakarta.
The book is made up of a series of e-mail messages home. By sharing these messages, Abraham lets the rest of us get a glance of a world we do not know (and a new way of looking at a world many know all to well).
I recommend this as a personal read or as a gift for someone who travels for their job or has someone they love who does.

A versatile devotional book
I've been looking for a good devotional book for my 6-year-old daughter. This is the one I like most. It contains many important topics to assure children's feelings, to establish their value, and help them grow spiritually and emontionally. For each topic, it starts with a simple song, which attracts kid's mind, and help them prepared for the devotion. Then, it leads kids for a simple prayer, some scripture, stories, and real-life application. I like this sequence, which brings the focus from above and then applied what have learned to daily life. To bring your children to Christ, to shape them with Godly characters, establish good devotional habit is the key. And, I found this book is a wonderful tool to help them start early. "Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it." (Prov. 22:6)

A must for anyone interested in Jewish musical development
Mr. Idelsohn takes the reader on a musical trek of discovery. One of the greatest casualties of centuries of oppression against the Jewish people was their musical expression - as a unique art form arose, the community would be destroyed and dispersed leaving behind only an echo which was picked up by survivors. Jewish music today is a hybrid with a strong foundation from Temple times. The author explains the connection and proves the point that even though Jewish music was influenced by non-Jewish music, that same non-Jewish music owes much to the ancient Hebrew modes that preceded it.

One of the few textbooks I've saved
This book was assigned as a text for a poli sci class I took in college. It was great then and is still great now. I refer to it often, it includes everything one could want to know about the judiciary branch (and includes some answers to questions I hadn't even thought of asking) I came here today to buy the 1998 edition, because I have worn the 93 edition out.

Excellent book for First time Hockey Parents
This is the best book for first time hockey parents. I had no idea how to tape a stick, buy shoulder pads, skates or even that there was such a thing as a neck guard.
The book is written by a physician and hockey lover, who knows his stuff. It has given me a lot of confidence when dealing with "more knowledgeable" parents and coaches. It has also helped me make it more fun for my kid.
If you have a kid who is going to play hockey: BUY THIS BOOK!!! The information on equipment and injuries is worth the price alone. Knowing how tape a stick and buy equipment has saved me a lot of time and money.

The Best Argument Against Quebec Separation
Every Canadian should read this book! Many of Dr. Schwartz's ideas from this book have come to fruition. The Supreme Court of Canada's ruling on unilateral separation is consistent with Dr. Schwartz's view of the Canadian constitution, and the government briefly took some of the tough stances (defining the referendum question, etc.) he advocates in this book. Lamentably, the government still has not taken the full clear stance of Dr. Schwartz. He advocates the federal government taking a firm line against Quebec separation and draws out the remarkable parallels between Canada's current situation and the situation of the pre civil war United States. In the course of this book Dr. Schwartz DESTROYS any credibility or moral stance Quebec separatists may ever claim to have.
As the title suggests, Canada does have much to learn from Lincoln. In the face of similar problems Lincoln knew what to do whereas our Canadian leaders have been gutless and clueless in dealing with Quebec.
I also highly recommend this book to Americans. It is a great way to become familiar with your closest neighbour's most serious problem. This book can teach Americans what the problem is and educate them about how to react if separation ever rears its ugly head in such a way that the United States can no longer ignore it.

An Excellent (and comical) novel about family
A Late Divorce is one of my very favorites novels. This ordinary tale about the late divorce of a middle-aged couple, one of whom is in a mental institution, is told from the perspective of each member of the family: children, their spouses and mates, grandson, etc. I have rarely laughed so much, or been touched so much, by the insightful description of the Kaminka family and their travails over a failed marriage, real estate and conflict. The scene with the rabbis at the mental institution is literary hilarity at its best...A wonderful work, original, illuminating and FUNNY!

This book starts with an introduction to ergodic theory. The rest of the book is on absolutely continuous invariat measures and their applications. This is one of the best books that studies conditions of existance of absolutely continuous invariat measures for piecewise expanding maps.

A good account of the 23 years of the lawyer years
This book shows how the practice of law on the Illinois frontier shaped Lincoln into the leader he became during his presidency.
