Marshall Islands Rituals
In Nuclear Nativity, Carucci explores the rituals, customs, and meanings of the Kurijmoj festival. Feasts, competitive games, speeches, dances, songs of apocalypse, and gestures of extraordinary generosity are among the means by which Enewetak and Ujelang people celebrate the festival. Carucci thoroughly investigates the empowering aspects of these ritual devices. He gives special attention to the array of valu ables and intricate scenarios of exchange - including food and money, speeches and songs - and illuminates the ways that people create histories of Kurijmoj tracing the festival to its ancient or Christian sources depending on their positions or status in the community. Carucci's book will engage Pacific anthropologists, ethnographers, and scholars interested in the anthropology of religion and ritual.

An Outstanding Book for Dads
Too often, children's books focus on just the mothers or are absent of any adults at all (unless they are bears or elephants) In the book Octopus Hugs, the father is a gentle, caring man who actively plays with his children.
He invents games that are fun and engaging. My children have wanted to play Octopus Hugs, Put-A-Quarter-In and Animal Bridge for weeks. This book is an outstanding story as well as an activity book.
The pictures are very well done. It is without a doubt the most positive African-American father I have EVER seen in a children's book.
I wholeheartedly recommend this book. It is well worth your time and money.

A unique look at a unique actor
Although this is not a comprehensive biography of Laurence Harvey, it is still a good insight into his unique talent and personality, written by his widow. The account of his death is particularly moving.

First Hand Account by Counsel and Primary Documents
This book was easy to read. It includes a narrative by Shattuck, a talented writer and lawyer, relating his experience with the land claim. It also includes primary documents from the Supreme Court and other legal scenarios related to the claim. It is a necessary introduction to this very important case.

Simply the Best
This is by far the easiest, most thorough, best organized thesaurus I have ever used or owned--and I've tried most of them. I've never seen more synonyms per entry, and it even includes colors, which too many don't.

Neighbourhood secrets
This is the first and only guide to Paris' 20 arrondissements - or local districts - and, though a few years since I wrote the last edition, remains the only neighbourhood guide to the city for regular visitors. Feel free to search the site for info on my more recent French travel guides, includin AA Essential Lille, AAA Travelbook France and Paris Scene.

This book had some of the strangest words I'd ever seen, right alongside words I used every day. Luckily, for most of the words I already knew in there, I was using them correctly, but every once in a while I would find something that I'd used often, but used completely incorrectly! The title is definitely not a misnomer.
It's a scary thought, but once I started searching through this thing, I found that I could not put it down. It's a load of fun using it for Balderdash words, and it really is quite informative. If you're stuck on an essay and need a few synonyms, or you just want to make George Orwell turn over in his grave, this book is a must-have.
Honestly, it's a first-rate piece of work!
