The Letters of James and Peter (The Daily Study Bible Series. -- Rev. Ed)
Published in Hardcover by Westminster John Knox Press (December, 1976)
Authors: William Barclay and John C. L. Gibson
Amazon base price: $29.95
Average review score:

Excellent historical review
I have read many commentaries and Barclay and John MacArthur are the best in my opinion. Barclay is the easiest to read. He aims at the people to which it is written, the culture in which it is written and the language at the time. Barclay is the most quoted in terms of history. Very, very interesting reading.

Fun, Accurate and Informative
Anyone at any age with an interest in Roman history will be pleased with this coloring book! The drawings and descriptions cover the time of Julius Caesar (1st century BC) up to the 1st century AD. The drawings are well done AND well researched. The clothing, armor, tools, and equipment are all well based on archaeological evidence. After seeing so many Hollywood/TV movies with bad props, it is a relief to see it done right! This is book is a fun little history lesson.

A Life in Our Times

Authors: John Kenneth Galbraith and William Galbraith
Amazon base price: $2.98
Average review score:

Galbraith - don't miss him!
When I borrowed this book at the library, I had never read Galbraith before, and intended to read just a few chapters. Now I am still reading his books.

Galbraith is funny. You learn a lot from him, he makes you see under the surface of things. He is never boring. His writing style is exceptionally elegant. And he obviously is a very good man.

Long John Dunn of Taos: From Texas Outlaw to New Mexico Hero
Published in Hardcover by Clear Light Pub (September, 1992)
Authors: Max Evans and William Eastlake
Amazon base price: $22.95

Northern New Mexico lovers¿
This is the book to buy if you've ever floated through the Rio Grande Gorge near Taos and, as you passed beneath the John Dunn Bridge, someone on your trip asked, "who exactly was John Dunn?" As a river guide you have full authority (and some would argue a professional obligation) to make up whatever answer you like, but I've found it helpful to occasionally sprinkle facts among the many assertions I've made to trusting passengers over the years. This slim volume, only 163 pages, is full of wonderful information about the life of John Dunn for whom that bridge is named, as well as northern New Mexico from the late 1800's through 1953, the year Mr. Dunn died. By reading this book you will be well prepared for passengers' questions and, as a bonus, you'll glimpse a lifestyle that predates most of us. For me the few early photos of the Rio Grande, all from pre-boating years, and the building of the John Dunn Bridge are alone worth the price of the book. The regional history and the life of John Dunn are exquisite bonuses.

John Dunn apparently was an irascible and only sporadically honest fellow, the sort of individual whose life story is fun to read about. His is not an exception. You'll learn about his early years in Texas, his later life in New Mexico, and the various legal and not-so-legal enterprises in which he was engaged throughout. I don't think I would have liked being around John Dunn, but I did enjoy reading about his adventures. I suspect you will too.

Excellent!!
Hamilton and Wittaker's Guide to Mammals of the Eastern United States is an excellent book. It allows one to become familar with species of mammals and those that are related to them. The diagrams and pictures are very useful. The text is very complete and leaves nothing out. The key at the beginning of the book allows those that are no very familar with mammals to get a head start in finding out what the mammals they are looking for is. I highly recommend this book to amateur and experienced mammologists.

THIS IS A TERRIFIC TEXT!
An excellent introduction to management theory and practices. Major subjects are economic and social environment, planning, organizing, leading, and controlling, each containing key topics such as motivation and teamwork.

Each chapter offers examples (provided as embedded boxes), begins with study questions to provide learning objectives and an opening headline, and concludes with an excellent summarization of key points, a self-test that is in depth and challenging, and a listing of key terms. Do's and don'ts of managerial behavior are highlighted. Photos and diagrams add color and clarity.

There are also career development tools, cases and exercises, research projects, and management skills assessments linked to each chapter and available online and in interactive format at a website. A website has been developed in support of this text. Includes CD-ROM and a good glossary. THIS IS A TERRIFIC TEXT! Mansell and Williams: The Challenge for the Championship
Published in Hardcover by Motorbooks International (October, 1992)
Authors: Nigel Mansell, Derick Allsop, John Townsend, and Derik Allsop
Amazon base price: $29.95
Average review score:

A great glossy insight into the man behind the glory
1992 Formula 1 champion Nigel Mansell is one of Britain's racing legends, his duels with Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna and Nelson Piquet fresh in people's memories. Williams' wheelchair-bound boss Frank Williams writes the foreword, and the two have achieved success hand-in-hand. With the help of veteran racing author Derick Allsop, he has written his most authoritative work on his success. Sections look at his personality and life off the track, which conveys him as a classic family man, the Williams team and what made it tick, the way a race weekend works (fascinating information for all F1 fans), the drives eh has raced against (unsurprisingly his comments on his 'Gang of 4' rivals aren't always complementary) and each race individually. Derick writes a section on his 1992 championship triumph, looking at each of the races in which he emphatically achieved the dream it looked like he would be denied. A great look at a great racer.
