As well, real, authentic literature is included in almost each new thematic unit.

The Radical Wesley and Patterns for Church Renewal

The Radical Wesley sets aim on the Western Church
Howard Snyder's third book in his series regardng renewed church life (The Problem of Wineskins and Community of the King) focuses on the contribution of John Wesley to the renewal of existing church patterns. After first giving a brief history of the conversion of Wesley and the growth of the Methodists, Snyder then brings Wesley face to face with today's church. The fundamental issues at stake in Snyder's arguements are 1) How do you renew the church without destroying it? 2) How do you gain an apreciation for the apostolic faith in a contemporary context? 3) How do you touch people that the current tradition of the church doesn't touch? Beautifully, Wesley addresses all of these. It is amazing that Wesley's voice is as fresh today as it was two centuries ago. In Radical Wesley, Snyder brings this voice out with clairty and alacrity to our current situation. I heartily recommend this to those who are searching to address the gospel in light of post-moderism.

It's about time.
So often when raising our children we turn to the ways of the world and then wonder why their values end up reflecting the degrading morality apparent in today's society. This book is a powerful tool for parents, and cuts right to the heart of the matter. It will challenge you to take an active role in your child's life and to truly consider the priorities you exemplify in your parenting style.

THE biography of John Wesley for the next 100 years
Most people who know John Wesley at all, not regarding if they like or dislike him, will know at least about his "conversion" in 1738 as the lift-off of the Methodist movement. But research within the last ten to fifteen years has corrected this image totally. One of the scholars who are to earn merits for this surely is Henry D. Rack. His biography of John Wesley and the rise of Methodism in 18th century is one of the most skilful works on the subject I know. For he avoids all hagiographic tendencys which dominated nearly all biographies of Wesley and still do in popular writings. Therefore he provides a fresh image of Wesley and his companions as well as his counterparts freed from traditional presuppositions. For instance, he considers Wesleys development throughout the whole of his long lasting life where traditional Wesley- hagiographies will always put stress on the 1738 Aldergate experience of "conversion" and are not able to discuss his later development. Also, Rack considers not only Methodist communites of the Wesleyan circuit but embeds Wesley and his followers within the whole Movement of Methodism which had a lot of different aspects and leading figures (e.g. George Whitefield). After all, Wesley apears as a man like you and me, his movement as an often troublesome gathering of people like you and me. Nevertheless Rack shows the historical place and merit of John Wesley and his legacy not only to Methodism but to the English society without exaggeration. "Reasonable Enthusiast" provides not only (as the title hints) a lively image of an in many ways contradictuary man but also of his world which has vanished since a long time. (Reader, please apologize for my teutonic English)

Classic 'revival history' book
Wesley Duewel has certainly done us a favour with the publication of this book. Written in a very readable style, it held my attention from start to finish, and that's a full 350+ pages worth! He gives more than a glimpse of a great many spiritual awakenings right through the centuries. Many are well-known stories, others less so; but all are absorbing and detailed accounts of fascinating moves of God's Spirit. An essential study for anyone interested in revivals. I loved it and continue to use it for reference.

lot of action and bloodshed, but quite a thriller
Councilman Whitman Richards is a force to be reckoned with in New Orleans in the days before the attack on Pearl Harbor. He has his hands in every racket in the city and he uses the money from his dirty dealings to fill his political coffers. He's madly in love with his mistress and plans to marry her once he divorces his wife Georgia.

Whit's perfect world begins to crumble the day his daughter Jessica is kidnapped from her local high school. When the ransom call comes in, the Councilman learns that the kidnapper is his half brother Pete Carson, a person he set up on a murder charge years ago and thus ran him out of town. Sick of her husband's action, Georgia goes to Wesley Farrell, a dangerous man who works both sides of the law. They had a fling two decades ago and Wes can't resist Georgia's pleas to help her rescue Jessica. Even though he makes himself a target from one of Whit's unknown enemies, Wes goes to the wall to find Jessica.

The fifth installment in the Wesley Farrell series is a thrilling reading experience. The protagonist goes the extra mile to help out a former friend and in the process gains a priceless gift. There is a lot of action and bloodshed in THE RIGHTEOUS CUT so fans of cozies will want to avoid this novel. Readers of historical urban noirs will find Robert Skinner's latest novel a very entertaining experience.

Intro to Science Dream
I am teaching Physical Science, an intro to science freshman course, at a high school in NH. I asked my students to find some information on who discovered the parts of the atom for homework. Most of my students didn't have much success with the internet, their science text book, or other text books. However, one of my students brought in this book. It had a full page on the information that I was looking for, plus other references on other aspects of the atom. The atom wasn't the only topic that I was impressed with. In general it contains an excellent, basic description of most fundamentals of science. For a teacher that is trying to find new ways of presenting information, it is truely a find. It is also a great companion for the student that might have a little trouble in the sciences. There are wonderful, full-color illustrations to accompany simple, yet well written and content filled text. In short, I was very impressed with this book. Not to mention the author was also involved in another of my favorite books "The Way Things Work". If I could require this book for my students, and reccommend it to all science teachers, I would.

An Important Work and a "Keeper"!
In this offering, Collins employs the Wesleyan "via salutis," or "the way of salvation", as a framework upon which he successfully maps out John Wesley's theological thought. What Collins has accomplished beyond his careful organization of this material, is to capture many of the important nuances found in Wesley's scriptural-based theology. Although deep and profound, this text is composed in such a way as to not only instruct, but also to engage the reader. Wesley's theological convictions are presented in a clear and crisp style to which the student cannot help but become involved, both spiritually and intellectually. I am convinced this is already an important text, and will grow to be more so as time goes by. "The Scripture Way of Salvation" will no doubt receive the wide reading it so richly deserves.

LESS THAN 20 COPIES REMAINING
Line art illustrations of more than a hundred and fifty mollusk sea slugs from Panama to Alaska. Price each is 10 bucks. Nearly 30 some copies remain. Perfect bound. Gave a copy that personally colored in with the Chromacolor Pencil set to Queen Elizabeth and a couple to their grand children. She visited the Univeristy of California Scripps Institution of Oceanography. The Regents presented here a gift of a book of 8 by 10 color photos of Sea Slugs or Opisthobranchs. The other way to see these colorful critters is by a line drawing. Then match their color in this case using 80 Chromacolor Pencil set.
