STUPID BETSY
ok because claudia just should not have gotten on the swing. she had already been tricked by betsy what, 10 times that day already?? if she were smart she would have not gotten on the swing. any reasonable human being would know that. then she winds up with a broken leg. beautiful. just beautiful. do you know how hard it is to take baths/showers with a cast???

it's a good book.

GOOD WORK!
I liked this book. Claudia was my favorite of the original quartet, so naturally I enjoyed this book. I love the descriptions of Claudia's cleverly put together ensembles and her appreciation for art. That speaks to sensitivity and creativity.

Betsy Sobak, Claudia's young charge is a virtuoso in the fine art of practical jokes. Her jokes are hostile and are always at the expense of another person. During Claudia's first sitting stint with Betsy, she falls from a tire swing and breaks her leg. Luckily for Claudia, her trio of sitting pals come through like the Cavalry by out-joking Betsy (in a safe way, of course) to teach her an object lesson in how to treat people in a humane fashion. Lesson: It is only kidding or funny if all sides are enjoying it, but if one side is not having fun, it is no longer kidding, it is mean.

I liked Betsy. The description given of her sounds like a cute kid with a vivid imagination. Ann Martin has a real gift for descriptions, dialogs, character development and I like the way the charges have a parallel plot running to the central plot the sitters are contending with. Ms. Martin has a real gift for the voices and feelings of kids.

Betsy Sobak
Claudia's not worried when she hears her newest baby-sitting charge, Betsy Sobak, is a great practical joker. After all, how much harm can one little girl do? Plenty. Claudia breaks her leg as a result of one of Betsy's mean jokes...and now she's talking about quitting the club. "Baby-Sitting," she says, "is too dangerous." Kristy thinks Betsy needs to be taught a lesson. She also thinks the Baby-Sitters are just the ones to do it. Wath out, Betsy Sobak! The joke war is on!

A Moving Sociological View on Modern Morality
I think that this novel is one of the greatest pieces of literature of our time. Claudia's exposé of "the little liar" is symbolically exposing modern man's deluded preconceptions of ethics and delves deeply into attempting to define what "truth" really is.

The book was almost perfact.
This book was preaty good. I thought Hally's lies were funny the way they where so ridiculous. No one could really believe them. Once she admitted why she had been lying you felt bad.

Claudia's got a little liar on her hands!!!!
It all starts when Claudia baby-sit's Haley Braddock, one of the B.S.C.'s client's. Haley starts lying about her homework. Cann claudia fix the homework problem? Read this book to find out!

good
i'm taking ASL in school and i was looking on my books shelf and found this book and i decided to re-read it. its really good. the only thing that bugs me is that on the cover jessie is using see sign when the book said it was ASL. it doesn't matter to much though. it is a really good book and shows how people who may seem diffrent at first glance can have a lot ion common with you. i hope you enjoy it.

Awesome...
This book was great! Jessi gets the baby sitting job of watching a little deaf boy, Matt. She learns sign language (his "secret language) and gets to know him better. She even explains to the neighborhood kids that he's not weird, he's cool, because he's got his own language. Pretty soon , all the kids learn something in sign language, and he has plently of friends. I really enjoyed this book, and I'm sure anyone else would too. :]

Care for the deaf
A very touching and realistic story. It features a young boy named Matt who was born deaf and this family, the Braddocks, move into Stoneybrook. Putting Jessi as the main character in this Babysitter Club book is very interesting because the deaf cannot hear music and therefore, none of them had exactly went to watch a musical or a ballet concert. Jessi's a ballerina and she feels especially sympathetic towards the deaf in that very aspect.
This story touches on the sensitive areas of a deaf person's life, about being ridiculed by others, looked down and thought of as weird. However, the babysitters were intrigued by Sign Language and the other kids int he neighbourhood begin to slowly accept Matt and were fascinated with sign language.
We also find out more about the deaf in this book, we learn some sign language, we learn that it is crucial that the deaf are kept well away from busy roads as they cannot hear cars approaching. We also find out how some families are being inconsiderate in not bothering to take up sign language to communicate with their deaf family member and instead, expect him/her to lip-read instead. Lip reading is extremely difficult.
The story has a happy ending and reveals what Jessi does to make the children in the school for the deaf happy. A must-read.

Good book
I read this book as a girl, and am sad to see it's out of print, but glad that I saved my copy. I've always found twins and large families fascinating, so this book was great. Mallory is from a large family and babysits twins, who turn out to be nightmares. I also loved to shop and they did that in the book. It was one of my favorites of the series.

Great book to read while relaxing.
I liked this book a lot. I keep it downstairs and read it while I am eating my cereal in the morning. Its about the Arnold twins, Carolyn and Marilyn who try to confuse Mallory and switch their identities. But the truth is, they don't like even dressing up like twins and stuff, they want to be their own seperate people which Mallory eventually discovers. So, this is a great book, enjoy!

Fantastic!
The Arnold twins are new clients to the BSC. Mallory gets the job. But her job is a disaster! But soon, Mallory has to find out why the twins are acting so horrible. Mallory soon finds the answer, and she's trrying to help them through their terrible time.

untitled
I think that the lowell children

should have been able to stay apart of that band

and be in the concert, like they really wanted.

it just breaks my heart to see those children

being left out of whatthey should be a part of. END

this book is well written
I'm not really 9, but I was when this book was issued.

I used to be a huge baby sitter club fan and though I'm in college now, I still read some of the books time to time. Keep Out Claudia was my first baby sitters club book and I'd been hooked since. The descriptions of the band rehearsals and the Lowells was well written, and when I was reading it, I could feel the hurt Claudia, Jessi and the rest of the club felt towards Mrs Lowell's prejiduce. And I also feel that a rainbow is nothing without all the beautiful colours, just the way this world is nothing without all the beautiful people of different races, colours and ethnicity. We could all learn a lesson from this book about how prejiduce is irrational, especially for children. Buy it today

Great for Young Readers
While some BSC books are a bit off-the-wall in terms of the girls's adventures, like winning the Lottery, this one is level-headed and a good example of teaching what's right and wrong. Mrs. Lowell is a bad person for treating Claudia and Jessi the way she did and this books is one of the best BSC books I've ever read.

boring
If you have nothing to read it may be okay. But otherwise no.All they do is orginize a yard sale. There is no plot.It is a waste of time.

The Baby-sitters Club
The book i read talked about these three girl saying bye to their best friend who is going away, well moving back to new york city.
But to her friends that means no more Stoneybrook Middle school because it's not going to be the same with put her, and no more Charlotte Johanssen, but the only thing that s no more is, the baby sitting club. All of stacey's friends was sad, especially her bestest friend, claudia.
They all sit around bored, because their friend is gone, and how will the babby- sitting club stay up without stacey, there.
But know that stacey's gone to new york city the baby-sitting club is going to have to find a new member.

A Good Way to Start
The book "Goodbye, Stacey, Goodbye (BSC #13)" was the first book in the series that I owned and I absolutely loved it. My copy is all tattered, torn, and taped to keep the cover on. That's how much I loved it and reread it. It started my obsession with the series, which will never be over, I don't think, even though the final book has been written. This series is too good to forget about, ever, even when I'm 93. I think I'll always read these books, because I feel like I'm a part of it. They are written so well that I understand the book so much. I love the BSC so much. It has made me a lover of reading. I feel like I've grown up with all the babysitters (not a spoiler so I cannot name names).
This series is such a wonderful series to get hooked on.

A Book I can Relate to
this book is about Mary Anne's friend who died. Just over summer break, my best friend and english partner, Judy, died in a car accident. This book relates to me and is written very carefully. sad.

one of the saddest BSC stories
In this book Mary Anne starts getting real close to a girl named Amelia when they work on a project together. Amelia and the other kids working on the project come over Mary Anne's house to work. Later that night Amelia and her family are on their way out to eat and they are hit by a drunk driver and Amelia is killed dead. Everyone is grief-stricken and goes to Amelia's funeral. Mary Anne finds a special way to keep Amelia forever in their memory. This was too sad for me because I like a happy book better but I am sure a lot of people would love it a lot.

One of the Saddest books I ever read
This book is about when Mary Anne and her English group work on a project. So then everybody thinks of a good idea to write an old-fashioned newspaper from Shakespeare's time. A girl in Mary Anne's group named Amelia Freeman told everybody she was going out to eat with her mother, father, and brother. She said she knew this project would be an easy A+. She told them how she wished she could bring them along.
The next day it was announced that Amelia had been killed in a car accident. Luckilly, the rest of her family was in the hospital and would be fine. Mary Anne was so upset that she needed to talk to a Psycayatrist. But what she told the Psychiatrist made me think. This is what she said, "As she was about to go home she said she wanted to bring us along. So if I was in her car then, I might have been dead now if I were with her."
I recomend this book for people who just lost a loved one.

Well written but some parts unrealistic
I loved the parts describing California life, but the parts about the club becoming so famous seemed unrealistic. Kristy was a baby about being jealous of them. Also how can Dawn book her own flight back to Connecticut? That was totally irresponsible. I liked Dawn a lot better in the earlier BSC books. Later on she goes from friendly and kind to snotty. She was a coward to try to run away from her problems.

GET READY TO THROW SHARP DARTS AT PEOPLE WHO DON'T LIKE DAWN
DAWN ROCKS. She is AWESOME, COOL, and ADMIRABLE for getting on her own flight. That's POSSIBLE. Perhaps sneaking away from problems and stealing from her dad wasn't so good...but every interesting novel has to do with a character making mistakes! Dawn is NOT vain or vapid or self centered or ANYTHING negative AT ALL. She IS THE BEST!!!!! She would NOT make a good target because NO ONE WOULD THROW DARTS AT HER UNLESS THEY WERE SOFT!!! Everyone loves Dawn. I WIN; YOU LOSE. I AM THE ETERNAL VICTOR. DAWN IS ALSO AN ETERNAL VICTOR. END OF STORY.

GET YOUR DART THROWING ARMS READY TO THROW DARTS AT DAWN!
Get your dart throwing arms, ready to throw some sharp darts at Dawn. She is a crybaby and a snotty brat to boot. I don't like the way Kristy jumps on the crybaby train by bellyaching about not having fame and TV coverage like the BSC's West Coast counterpart. Kristy, for all her bravado is a big crybaby too.

I don't like Dawn. I think she is sneaky and self centered. Stealing her dad's credit card and booking a cross country flight was just too cowardly and irresponsible for words. I was glad she got put on the next plane back to California and was made to pay for the two plane tickets. Serves her right. I think she'd make a good bull's eye in the dart board.
