A must read book!
First off, this is one of the best books in the BSC Series and it was so well written. Great job, Ms. Martin!

Since Mary Anne has been sitting for the Kuhn kids, she's noticed how much Jake misses his divorced dad. Mary Anne thinks jake needs a guy to hang around with...but she doesn't tell Mrs.Kuhn this. So Mary Anne invites Logan over to play with Jake while she's baby-sitting.

Everything's perfect--until one day Mrs. Kuhn comes home early and finds Logan there. It's just a misunderstandding, but all Mrs. Kuhn and Kristy see is that Mary Anne has broken the number one rule of baby-sitting. She's invited her boyfriend over. What will happen to the BSC when their other clients find out? Read this book to find out!

What a wonderful story of raw courage!
Excellent! A great book on overcoming fear. Mary Anne is filled with so many fears, including facing an emergency and also a fear of losing Logan because of his dad's hairbrained idea to send him to boarding school. Mary Anne learns that being brave isn't about never feeling scared, but feeling the fear and doing what you have to do anyway. I thought it was so beautiful they way she plunged into the pool to save the little boy from drowning, then cried and cried. I also thought it was great that she encouraged Logan and his mom to stand up to his dad. I think his dad's a control freak. I got the feeling he kind of looks down at Mary Anne and the fact that Logan babysits. There needs to be more books about girls as life-savers. It should be on all high school and middle school reading lists. A must-read for any girl who doubts herself.

Second Grade Baby was awesome!
I have seven year old twin daughters. One of them loves to read, the other isn't quite as interested. This book, however, got her interested in chapter books. We read it together and the plot was so good, that she stayed interested enough to finish it. It is about a second grader named Natalie whose classmates think she is a baby. They find out just how grownup she can be when she turns out to be the only one brave enough to send her beloved stuffed animal--"Buzzy Bear" on a trip around the world. At the end of the book, Natalie ends up doing something even more brave and surprising! A wonderful book for that age group.

an excellent book
I think this is an excellent book. The babysitters decide to do secret santa's. They each put their wish into a hat and draw someone else's out. Mallory wishes to be remembered forever, Kristy wishes she didn't have such a big mouth etc. Also in this book the babysitters play santa for a little girl who's parents don't have much money. she wants her sister back who ran away from home. Claudia grants her own wish (she wishes she could do something meaningful for someone) when she finds her sister and gets them back together. You can open the cards and letters yourself and read them. Inside you get a friendship necklace that you and a friend can wear.

This book was so good that I read it all on the same night!! Stacey and the BSC members get jobs in the Mall. Stacey gets a job in a toy shop called Toy Town. She loves her job and is really confident to work there after school three times a week. But little things start disappearing and Stacey finds herself taking in all of the clues; solving the mystery which involves some weird kids and the perculiar mall manager Mr. Morton.

Don't be afraid of this one! ~ from a teacher
I found a gem in this little book that has sadly been taken out of print. Sara is a shy little girl who really has just two friends (one of them is her cousin). Her mother is constantly pushing her to be more social and not spend so much time in her room, but Sara doesn't like people looking at her much less speaking in front of them. This is why Sara is understandably upset about the upcoming play that she must be in.

On top of Sara's problems with public performance, she is having to cope with her best, and only real, friend moving away during the summer, and trying to get an epic poem the three girls have written included in the Guinness Book of World Records. Unfortunately, they sent the only copy of their poem to a rather famous actor in England, instead of to the publishers.

This book does a wonderful job of showing how a young girl was able to overcome her shy behavior to get through a public performance without going overboard. I don't want to spoil the ending, but I will tell you that it does not end with Sara getting bitten by the "showbiz bug". This story is very real and I wish I had discovered as a shy young kid.

Why 5 stars?:
I expected this book to be a comedic look at something embarrassing happening on stage. Instead, it was about some children going through some very difficult times. Students, teachers and parents are portrayed in a real manner too, not necessarily the models of good behavior we want to see, but how a person would really respond. I highly recommend this book become a part of your classroom library. I intend to use it with every shy kid in my class and wish I had discovered it earlier in my life.
