Seriously delicious!
I love this cookbook! The recipes ARE simple, the flavors are wonderful. They're easy enough for everyday cooking, and delicious enough for guests.

Seriously Easy
My sister bought this book for me, knowing that with two small children I don't have much time to prepare gourmet meals. This book gives some great ideas on how to prepare fabulous meals easily and with little time required. I especially love how the author includes "the clever cook could" section to most of the recipes which gives ideas on how one could serve any leftovers or jazz up the meal. The photographs are beautiful as well. I think this book would make a wonderful gift to anyone who loves to cook or just wants a change from what they usually prepare at mealtime.

Diane Rossen Worthington's Seriously Simple
I own all of this author's cookbooks and love them all. But this one reaches a new height. The author understands what it means to live in a house where all cooking adults work but where no one is satisfied with restaurant or take-out food. She provides recepies that are in fact simple: marinades that are easy to make; combinations of ingredients that are immediately accessible; good healthy food that all members of the family are likely to enjoy. The recepies are for the most part easy, but they are also extremely elegant. Kids will love the simplicity and the great taste. Gourmets will admire the subtlety. A user-friendly, teriffic book.

Excellent commentary on "good vs. evil."
The characters and plot are well thought out and there are no loose ends in this book. Not only is this book an intelligent commentary about religion and faith, but it tells a great story. This author is one to watch for...Am eagerly awaiting the author's next book.

A good summer read!
This book has a really unique structure for a fantasy book. A full cast of richly developed, memorably named characters keeps the story completely engrossing. An underlying subplot promises more good things to come from this author.

Definitely one of the all time best!
How many ways can you say 'fantastic!'?. Triple it for this diamond among all the garbage being published these days (and promoted by people who should be ashamed). Incredible characters living an incredible, soul-feeding adventure that you never want to end. This author should be declared a national treasure

The Children on the Top Floor
Published in Paperback by Dell Pub Co (1985)
Author: Noel Streatfeild
Amazon base price: $3.25
Average review score:

Delightful Streatfeild in rather a modern setting
"The Children on the Top Floor" are the Master quadruplets. Like the Fossil sisters of "Ballet Shoes," Margery, William, Lucy, and Thomas are adopted by Malcolm Master, a popular television personality on whose doorstep the four babies are left one Christmas morning. Their existence on the top floor of his house with Mrs. Comfort, their governess, and Nanny; their work advertising for television, and their struggle to stay together when Malcolm Master disappears make an absorbing and enchanting story. The publishers would do well to reprint this book, along with all the "Shoes" series. What a great loss to the American audiences that only three of Streatfeild's books are now available in the United States!

This took me away!
I first read this book when I borrowed it from my fourth grade teacher, and I liked it so much that I never returned it! I read it so often that the cover has been torn off. As you read the book, you are taken captive by the wonderful story of Margorie, Lucy, Thomas, and William, all named after fairytale characters. Each starts taking an interest of their own in the entertainment world, plus the book is filled with happy and sad moments. This book, and all the Shoe books, are great for young girls who have always been enchanted by acting, drama, and musical things, but have never gotten to have the experiences themselves. A must read!(oh yeah, and I'm really not one, I'm 14)

Its a great book!
this book is about a television star who says on christmas eve that christmas is not christmas without children. what a suprise it was to find 4 kids on the front doorstep the next morning. the children on the top floor expresses the way the kids feel growing up as television stars right from the start;when on of them falls down the stairs, and when their father(who is considered mr. master disapears on his yaht. i recomend this for kids ages 9-12.

A Great Dictionary
People, places and things are all described in this dictionary. If it holds any significance in the bible, it's in this dictionary.

This dictionary isn't the most compact book in the world, so it kind of has a limitation there. There are really quality facts and ties in this book. Some symbolism is identified. This is really a top quality bible dictionary. There are ties of some biblical figures/stories to others in the bible. Many terms are identified. Some Hebrew names for God are explained. Things like the Dead Sea Scrolls are explained thoroughly.

If you want to know the bible on a deeper level, this dictionary can really help you. it is a really easy to use reference. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to know the scriptures more thoroughly.

Provides a new tool for reading and studying the Bible
Dictionary Of The Bible is a weighty reference which provides a new tool for reading and studying the Bible, offering nearly 5,000 alphabetically ordered articles explaining all the books, people and terms of the Bible. Accompanying discussions of cultural, geographic and literary influences provide Bible readers with a wider range of insights than most, with nearly 600 Bible authorities contributing their articles and insights.

The best overall Bible Dictionary.
This dictionary is the best on the market. The articles are indepth and provide a wealth of information. At the same time, the style is understandable and easy to use. The contributors respresent a wide range of Christian backgrounds and give the book an excellent scope of views.

If you are interested in getting a better understanding of the Bible, a good Bible dictionary is a must -- and this is the best one to have.

Family Shoes

One of Streatfeild's very best
"Family Shoes" tells the story of Alec, the vicar,Cathy, his wife, and the four Bell children, Paul, who wants to be a doctor, Jane, who longs to be a dancer, Ginnie, who is at once truculent and charming, and Angus, the pet-lover. Their adventures and triumphs, relationship with wealthy Uncle Alfred and Aunt Rose, the flowering of Jane's dancing talent, and the extraordinary atmosphere of the family make this book a delight from start to finish. Please treat yourself and your children.

I Love this Book!
I like all the "Shoes" books but I really love this one most of all! This book introduces you to the Bell Family of 2 Boys,2 Girls, their parents & there wonderful Housekeeper Mrs.Gage.These Kids live in Great Britain with there parents and are always having fun & adventures. They are like a real family with arguments and getting into trouble and having fun too! This is one of those books that you dont want to put down once you have started it! And there is a sequel too called "New Shoes". You will enjoy meeting the Bell Family!

When Meg Ryan entered FOX BOOKS in You've Got Mail
And the customer asked about the "Shoes" books, and amonologue about the wonders of Noel Streatfeild's "Shoes"books ensued, touching on Dancing Shoes, Ballet Shoes, and Skating Shoes, which is absolutely wonderful, I cried. And I did that because I had never heard anyone other than myself talk about these terrific books, and the fact that it is tragic that they are mostly out of print and hard to find. This book is a wonderful story of working hard for a goal, and accomplishing it, or at least getting on the road to achieving a reasonable, yet magical, goal. If you want a great book for your favorite elementary school girl, buy this one - then buy the other "Shoes" books (and get a copy of Tennis Shoes for your favorite boy too!)

Kids get more than "Fast Cash"
We have had this book for over 2 years, and I have watched my 11 year old develop in her ability to choose increasingly more sophisticated jobs. This book is a great tool for children to develop a creative business sense. The ideas are practical and attainable for children to produce. As they work out the details of a chosen task, they can learn business ethics and how work well done can increase their earning potential as well. My daughter was interested and encouraged by the section on stories of famous and successful entrepreneurs who started creating various projects as children. This book is definitely worth buying.

Exellcent and helpful book.
exellcent book. Has some faboules ideas. It is a must read for any children.

Fabulous, with real-kid examples of success
I have only skimmed it, but am ordering 10 copies to give to inner city kids through a non-profit organization.... stimulates the reader's creative imagination. It's easy to become convinced that a successful REAL business is possible. Dozens and dozens of creative teenage entrepreneurs are interviewed, each with a different kind of business, each one successful, and many of whom have continued running their business as an adult!

Fingerstyle Noel: Selected Fingerstyle Guitar Transcriptions from Mark Hanson's Recording, Yuletide Guitar
Published in Paperback by Accent on Music (1997)
Authors: Mark Hanson and Music Sales
Amazon base price: $19.95

A great book for the guitarist that wants something new.
I have been playing guitar for many years and wanted to branch out into a different style. The songs in this book are great. The tablature is well written and is easily understood. There is enough material in the book to keep me busy for a long time to come. The level of playing is for intermediate to advanced player. The CD is an extra bonus that is great listening. Warning: I liked the book so much that I ordered a Chet Atkins SST model guitar to accompany me so that I can sound even better.

Beautiful
When I first got the book, I put the CD in to listen briefly to the first track to get an idea of what the pieces sounded like. I ended up listening to the entire thing. Track 6 was so emotional and unbelievable that I had pains in my chest. The price of the book is definately worth the CD alone. The book comes with probally around 20 songs with TAB. The songs are NOT easy so if your not a fingerpicker, then start with Mark Hansons "Beyond Basics Fingerstyle" book. That will give you the basics to play the easy songs in this book. There are songs in this book to challenge most players also. He did a great job of adding in easier songs near the back of the book. Theres also a couple of songs that are written for a duo. On the CD it is a flute player, but anything will work, even another guitar. My sister plays violin and It sounds incredible with guitar.

If your like me, and taught yourself to play guitar, then this book is definately something to challenge and educate you in fingerstyle. After playing 1 of the easy songs from this book at a correct tempo, you will start to see immeadiate improvement in your style and fingering.

In a wrap up, this is the book for you if you either A: want some great classical xmas tunes B: want to learn som great classical xmas tunes C: want to learn to develop some fingerpicking skills.

Excellent book!
First rate espionage tale, well researched and well written. The plot is absorbing, the pace is swift and the conclusion is unexpectedly devious! Noel Hynd is the equal of Follett (Jackdaws), Thayer (Pursuit), and my own personal favorite, the wonderful Jack Higgins and his exciting Eagles!!!!! Mr. Hynd, if you're listening, how about another World War II espionage tale?

Flowers from Berlin
There's not a whole lot of words that can describe this piece of literary genius that the folks at Stealth Press have revived. I got a copy from my mom for Christmas because she knows that I'm Hynd's biggest fan. I think she got it directly from their website. At any rate, if you haven't gotten a copy of this book, do NOT hesitate. It RULES.

Synthesis & Counseling in Astrology: The Professional Manual
Published in Paperback by Llewellyn Publications (1994)
Author: Noel Tyl
Amazon base price: $29.95
Average review score:

Counseling Straight Up, with Twist of Astrology
As a reader, I often find that I am not so much using my knowledge of astrology and tarot in the reading, as just counseling people. I don't think I would be exxagerating to state that well over 75% of the people I read for just want to unload and get some type of counseling. I found this book to be helpful in gaining more skills and knowledge in these areas. Granted, it didn't seem to teach me anything new in astrology, but I do feel I gained a wealth 0f knowledge when I look at how it has helped me look for key signs and know how to react in certain situations during readings.

A helpful guide for serious astrology
I read this book as part of Noel's correspondence course. At the beginning it scared me the size of the book, but after I started reading my fear was replaced for a need to continue reading.
Noel's course and books definitely helped me to organize my analysis of a chart. The many examples and cases in this book are very helpful on how to approach and start a chart interpretation. Noel's background in psychology, social work and philosophy adds an important ingredient to the book. Highly recommended!

A Very Useful Tome
I cut my astrological teeth on Tyl's work. He tends to be somewhat psychobabble jargony, and as a result often lapses into abstraction, but his technique of homing in on a chart's key points--the points of developmental tension--is remarkably accurate and useful. This book is huge, with gobs of information and examples. The prose is often clunky, unwieldy, but the information is great.

He addresses a wide variety of topics in this book, including career profiling, sexuality, health, and prediction.
