Great Book!
Well written, honest and easy to read - this is the kind of book that gets dusted off every year or so and re-read.

A Bulls-Eye for "One Slug"
I found The First Hellcat Ace to be a thoroughly enjoyable chronicle of Hamilton McWhorter's experiences in World War II. The book reads well and the story is engaging, providing a balanced view of his personal and professional life as a Naval aviator. The deprivations of shipboard life, the risks of combat, and the pain of separation from loved ones provide a solid foundation for "One-Slug" McWhorter's story.

The story of how it was for carrier based fighter pilots.
I was prepared to like this book before I bought it. My opinion had to be a biased one. Mac McWhorter served in USS Essex, the same ship I served on although I was a aboard a decade after he was. He was a ship's hero and considered my Shipmate. All those who served in USS Essex, from her commissioning in 1942, as CV9 to her decommisioning in 1969 as CVS9, and even those who serve in USS Essex LHD2 are shipmates, even those who served in that first 32 gun frigate Essex built in Salem in 1779 are considered shipmates. We all served, or are serving in United States Ship Essex. It's a Navy thing. I have been in correspondence with Mac in things related to Essex. I have found him to be a man of warmth, with a great sense of humor. A family man, and a true shipmate.

This book is about what it was like for a carrier fighter pilot. About missing one's family, and about squadron members and friends lost in battle, About just getting through it. Mac McWorter survived three carrier deployments in World War II. He earned a reputation as one of the Navy's deadliest fighter pilots. His memior is not the stuff of shootouts in the air, although there is plenty of that, as the First Pilot to ace in the Hellcat, and with 12 air victories it's neccesary to his story. His story is of comradeship, and sacrifice, survival and getting a job done. This is a great read. It's a story that needed to be told and needs to be read. Lest we forget Hamilton "Mac" McWhorter and those who served with him.

Thorough introduction to account management.
As a manager in a large international consulting firm, I've been exposed to a number of different issues in a key account management. This is one of the most thorough reviews of the subject I've come across.

The book spends about 30 pages covering the introduction to what Key Account Management is, and more importantly what it is not. It provides a balanced view to the benefits to both the customer and supplier firm, as well as instances where key account management may not be appropriate.

The bulk of the book (Part 2 and 3) covers key account analysis and planning. It devotes two entire chapters to key account analysis and supplier firm analysis/competitor analysis. These are perhaps the most valuable chapters in the book. Chapter 7 covers formulating and capturing the key account strategy -- from the vision and mission statements through action plans and resource committments. Part 2 also provides significant coverage of the various organizational issues around organizing for key account management.

Part 4 covers critical issues in key account management, including issues in partnering with your key accounts and a whirlwind treatment of issues related to global account management.

The content of the book (though dry) is good for a survey of the issues. A number of examples are provided to illustrate points, though some of these examples are fairly weak and could have easily been omitted. The exercises and appendices provided take up nearly 70 pages. The exercises are extremely helpful at boiling down analysis, planning and information requirements for improving key account plans. The appendices provide exposition and further examples to back up the content.

Overall, I would recommend this book for anyone who is new to account management and looking for a very even-handed overview of the structure, processes and critical issues for account management. It was exactly what I expected. I would not recommend this book for someone who is looking for an introduction to a sales organization or for tecniques on selling as that's not where the book is focused.

Very thorough
Working in KAM and writing my thesis on Benchmarking KAM/KAS, I find this book to be one of the two cornerstones for me. It is well-developed and unlike many of the other books on the market, it leaves you with the impression that the process is difficult, but possible with proper planning. I have read many other books on the subject, that tell amusing anecdotes, make it look simple, and give little structure for proceeding. They are actually long sales brochures for the consultants that wrote the books. Capon's book covers how to manage the process of selecting, approaching, and acquiring key accounts, and more importantly, how to align this process with the strategy of the firm. Very useful.

An exceptional guide
Middle to large business managers who want a practical handbook for managing a company's assets should consider this extensive guide a 'must': Key Account Management And Planning focuses on customers and how to retain them, examining the systems and processes of maintaining and expanding a business and developing key account plans. The focus on common problems and solutions makes Key Account Management And Planning an exceptional guide.

Great book!
This is the best guide to the DC and surrounding area, but in some cases this book needs to be updated. Some attractions have relocated or closed since the book was published. Fortunately, the book lists phone numbers and websites so you can make sure of the current location and hours of operation. I would highly recommend it to anyone, with or without kids, who wants to see the sights in DC and the surrounding Virginia and Maryland area.

hoping for a second edition!
Great resource. I just was hoping it would be updated, since it's been a while, and not all information is still current.

Great resource for curious kids (and their parents)
We live in DC and we love this book! Whenever I feel like we need a new place to visit, I flip the pages and find something perfect to do. All of the places we've discovered through the book have been places we've vowed to return. My son is one and a half -- I look forward to exploring more and more as he grows up in DC. I work at a school and have also purchased copies for teachers to give them great ideas for field trips.

Quick road map to the Church of Jesus Christ.
This book is a slender, fully illustrated introduction to the Christianity and Christology of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The ten issues are:

1)Are Latter-day Saints Christian?
2)What do Latter-day Saints believe about God?
3)Do latter-day Saints believe in the Bible and biblical Christianity?
4)Does God speak to his children in ways other than through the Bible?
5)Do Latter-day Saints believe that men and women can become Gods?
6)What do latter-day Saints mean when they say that God was once a man?
7)What do Latter-day Saints believe a person must do to be saved?
8)Do the doctrines and practices of the LDS Church change?
9)Ho do latter-day Saints believe they should live their lives?
10)Why do Latter-day Saints try to convert others?

I hope this gets your interest whetted. Robert L. Millet, the Dean of Religion at Brigham Young University-Provo and Dr. Noel Reynolds, an academic vice president at Brigham young University--Provo, are the editors, with several contributors from the Religious Faculty at BYU.

This booklet allows us to speak for ourselves, unfiltered and undistorted. It serves as a great introduction, a guide map if you will, for several points of doctrine and theology that are important for the Church of Jesus Christ. It is written at the high school level, and has beautiful eye-catching pictures. It is a booklet written for everyone.

Very good info from the source
I'm not a Mormon (Evangelical Christian, actually) and I think this is a great intro to LDS doctrine for Christians curious about Mormonism.

If you want to know the true LDS beliefs you should get them from a person who believes in Mormonism, not from a person who thinks Mormonism is a terrible cult. This book quickly cuts to the chase on some of the more controversial issues. This way you can make your own opinion, not get railroaded into a sensational one.

Excellent, Non-Proselytizing, Concise
This is, for its size, an excellent little book that gives a solid, concise overview of Latter-day Saint belief on several issues that almost invariably come up when non-Mormons are asking questions about Mormonism. It's perfect for giving to curious neighbors, co-workers, etc. It makes no attempt to convert, but merely to explain. Very, very well done.

Great Companion for Your Paris Guide Book
This wonderful little book makes a good companion for whichever Paris guidebook you plan to carry. It not only lists many interesting Cafes to visit, but also gives interesting background information on the famous writers and other celebrities who once hung out in them. It gives you an excuse to visit parts of Paris you might not otherwise visit. Great book.

A must read for the intelligent visitor to Paris!
I stumbled across this little gem a few days before my wife finally dragged me to Paris in 1991. Lucky for me! Thanks to this work, we have come to love Paris, especially the Left Bank. Away from the tourist throngs, the reader can people watch and sip for literally hours reflecting upon Hemingway at the Brasserie Lipp, Picasso at the Cafe de Flore, Shirer at the Brasserie Balzar and so much more. It is truly amazing to me that these places still function just as they did 75 years ago and more. I considered myself a well educated and well traveled person, but this small volume has opened up a world that I knew about but never fully appreciated before and has made Paris one of my favorite vacation spots. To heck with the Louvre, this is what Paris is all about!

A great gift for Paris lovers
This is the first book to take to France with you (or to give to a friend who is going). The history is brief, but it goes back two centuries.

Coward's lover,friend and literary executor's retrospective
I read and reviewed this book for my on-line theater magazine -- The new off-Broadway musical about Coward's friendship with Gertrude Lawrence draws much material from this book as well so I found myself referring back to it for my write-up of that show -- both show and book are particularly timely as the Coward centennial celebrations get into full swing.

the wittiest bio of the master
coward's longtime companion graham payn probably comes as close to coward as anyone ever will. he manages to artfully weave the details of his own life with a plethora of new anecdotes -- and old -- about sir noel. the added bonus is the appendices containing previously unpublished coward works, including a tenth play [!] written for "tonight at 8:30".

well worth your time...

Further Adventures of Miss Virginia Bell and her family
At the beginning of this sequel to Family Shoes, the Bishop has asked Rev. Alex Bell to move to a new parish, a depressed housing project outside London. The residents there seem entirely lacking in community and church spirit, and indifferent to their new vicar. Because the Bishop has urged each of the Bell children to find a way to make the new assignment a success, each uses her or his initiative to make connections between the vicarage and the community. By the end, they've learned an important lesson: people become invested in each other by *doing things together* to improve their community, rather than by having those improvements done for them.

Streatfeild's books are among my favorites to re-read, but they are markedly formulaic: each has three or four kids, one of whom is pretty, and one who is plain or fat. One or two will be talented and driven, one gifted but unmotivated, and one lazy and often resentful of her position within the family. Almost all of the children in her books end up being essentially responsible, family-oriented, enterprising, and good problem-solvers when they learn to work together, using their different skills. What saves these books is Streatfeild's ability to capture the little resentments and solidarities of family life. As well, even the less likeable characters tend to become more sympathetic, because they grow in realistic ways. Ginnie Bell, Jane Winter, and Nicky Heath all mature through their escapades, but they do not really repent or fundamentally change - they certainly continue to infuriate their siblings!

Streatfeild's refusal to thoroughly reform her characters keeps the books from being saccharine-sweet and makes possible some truly touching moments. In New Shoes, this moment comes when we see Ginnie's realization that her smug, horribly spoiled cousin Veronica is desperately lonely. Although Ginnie certainly uses Veronica's desire for attention to get what she, herself, wants, by the end of the book she has ensured that her cousin's parents see their daughter in a different light.

a classic family story; please reprint it!
"New Shoes" is one of the most enchanting of Noel Streatfeild's delightful stories. With all the warmth of its prequel, "Family Shoes," it has a refreshing newness and youth. Cathy and Alex and their four children accept the bishop's invitation to a new church in a new town outside London, and all the children join together to help make Crestal New Town proud of itself. The children's talents expand on this broader stage, and the book is so vivid, so vital, so absorbing that you'll enjoy it even if you have not yet read "Family Shoes." The publishers were mad to allow this gem to go out of print. Please reprint it!

delicious sequel to "Family Shoes"; warmth, humor, delight
"New Shoes" is a delectable sequel to "Family Shoes." The book can stand on its own, but it will make you eager to read the first adventures of the Bell family. Reverend Alexander Bell accepts a call to a church in a new town outside London, where the bishop thinks the new town needs not only Alex but Cathy and the childrem, Paul, Jane, Ginnie, and Angus, to help make the new town proud of itself. The blossoming of the children's talents, Ginnie's adventures with Admiral Oakley, what it takes for Mrs. Gage to stay with the family, the surprise reappearance of Miss Bloggs, Aunt Rose, Uncle Alfred, and Veronica (we all have relatives!), Ginnie's plotting to remain at St. winifred's, and the transforming effect of the Bell family on the new town, create a book you'll read over and over. Don't miss Ginnie's debut in the national press!

EXCELLENT INFORMATION - EASY TO READ
I would like to say that I enjoyed this book .The author apparently schooled under Noel Tyl. How exciting to learn from the best. ( At least one of the best) This( the quindicile) is an old aspect brought to light by Mr.Tyl.The author is clear and concise in her writings and makes this book easy to read, easy to learn and a joy to have in your library.Discover new things about your self through the Quindicile. It reveals why you sometime act the way you do ....Why some things you are motivated in and others you arent. It gives you enlightment about yourself and the wonderful thing about it is you can learn to use the motivation in a positive manner .Great book !

A Watershed Work
This book on the seldom addressed quindecile aspect clearly explains the psychological implications inherent in quindeciles. Many chart examples of well-known figures are used, making this book accessible to astrologers of all levels of experience. Knowing about quindeciles illuminates often overlooked dimensions of the birthchart. Highly recommended!

At last!
Ms. Reeves has done us all a service with her book on Quindeciles. Noel Tyl read my chart for me in 1997, & mentioned
2 of them in my chart, & the info he gave me concerning them was
deeply personal & ultimately helpful in a "put the past to rest" kind of way. They're kind of an itch-you-cannot-scratch, but you can use them if you understand them better, and so I recommend this book to one and all!

Delicioso!
Every cookbook should be loaded with pictures like this one is. This book has a great sampling of dishes from all over Mexico, and helpful substitutions for hard to find ingredients. Not only are the recipes great, but the history behind the dishes are interesting also. I found most of the recipes require a lot of preparation time, however that is due more to the nature of Mexican cooking. I haven't found a bad recipe yet in the whole book.

Marilyn Tausend Rocks!
This book is a wonderful followup to her collaborative work "Mexico The Beautiful". I was afraid that many of the wonderfully authentic recipes from her other books might be duplicated here, but that's not the case. As usual, she's managed to come up with very authentic recipes (I have lived in Mexico for many years now and have studied the cuisines) that I had been hoping to find, such as Quail in Rose Petal Sauce of "Like Water For Chocolate" fame, Cream of Chile Poblano, and Torta Azteca, among others. The instructions are easy to understand, the photography is brilliant, the ingredients are relatively easy to find and Ms. Tausend again did her research right because these recipes taste like the real thing! This is not another taco/enchilada/burrito cookbook, there are many truly fascinating and hard-to-find dishes in this book. I'm so glad I bought it! If you're looking for another great Mexican cooking aid, this is the one to get after Mexico the Beautiful!

Excellent mexican cooking book!!!!
I was looking for a good authentic mexican book (my husband is mexican) and this one captured my attention. My husband reviewed it and he aggreed that the recipes are authentic from a lot of regions in Mexico. Each recipes has its own picture and very well presented.

I recommend it to all people who wants to cook mexican cuisine. The recipes are relatively easy to make and it's easy to find the ingredients.

A fabulous book!
