Right Book at the Right Time
My company is building an internal procurement site and we needed something we could customize to our needs. Gunderloy and Jerke do an outstanding job of explaining how to build an e-commerce site and provide an excellent set of foundation code.

Thanks guys! Great job.

Plumb full of action
Noel Carroll is a composite name of a husband and wife writing team. Husband Noel is a former CEO, while wife Carol was a corporate executive. Together they have published novels, short stories and satiric essays. Circle of Distrust is another of their works.

Therese Elliott has a terrifying and realistic nightmare about her husband's upcoming launch of the shuttle Atlantis, twenty-five days before launch. In her dream the entire crew has been murdered by a madman, and she is seeing dead bodies through her husband's eyes. Little does she know, until she hooks up with a investigative priest from the Vatican, that she has unconsciously tuned into an international terrorist with his own agenda for disrupting the flight and destroying the space station. Sparks fly, and the very current issue of celibacy arises as Therese and Father John enter Lebanon to interview potential witnesses to a murder that would cast light on which of the space crew could be the culprit. Naturally Therese nearly gets herself killed when she dares to go for a walk close to the hotel to clear her head:

"Mustafa did not look convinced. 'The person who did this is known to us, my friend. Your hotel doorman recognized him and passed the information along to the police who quickly called us.' John did not ask in what capacity the doorman did this. In the city of Beirut, there were agents and friends of agents everywhere. He wondered what the man had reported back about himself and Therese."

Plumb full of action, Never By Blood has all the hallmarks of a great whodunit, international thriller style. The Noel Carroll team does a bang-up job of secreting the murderer among a fairly small list of potentials and completely faking out the reader in the most delightful way. Shuttle/Nasa details are complex enough to satisfy the biggest techno-nut. The power is in the details, and Never by Blood spares none. It is a multi-layered exercise in what excellent writing is all about. There is never a dull moment, and characterization is top-notch. A most amazing read. Please keep writing more of these...they're great!

You Cannot Go Wrong With This Anthology!!!
With stories like "Ferryman" (Eric Brown), "The White Stuff" (Peter F. Hamilton & Graham Joyce), and "A Night on Bare Mountain" (Graham Charnock), anthologies don't get any better than this. My only quibble is with the experimental narrative "Thirteen Views of a Cardboard City"(William Gibson) which rounds out the volume with a whimper, not a bang. Otherwise, this is Hugo & Nebula territory.

This story is a favorite in our family
Several years ago we saw the video of Noel on TV and have since then bought the book and a coloring book. Each year we search the stores in vain, looking for the video. If anyone knows how we could obtain it, we would be very grateful. My daughter even wrote a story in school last year about what happened to Noel afterward. It was preciuos.

Classy, Insightful -- A First-Rate Dual Bio!
This book not only takes a fresh and thoroughly readable look at two extraordinary lives -- it also includes some excellent assessments of their songs. I've read most everything published on these two men and found this book worthwhile and highly enjoyable. If only all composer bios were so intelligently handled!

Short stories about life
The twenty stories contained within the 630 pages of this, mostly entertaining, collection were typically about life in, and around, the theater. Some were of a personal nature concerning Noel's philosophy of life: which was something of being an Ockhamist's and he was also anti-altruistic. He seemed influenced in a proginal sense by Saki; a dialectical sense by Wilde; and an antagonistic sense by Waugh. The stories ranged from being very good (Bon Voyage and What Mad Pursuit) to very bad (Traveler's Joy and Stop Me if You've Heard It). The most personal, concerning the purpose of life, was "Nature Study" which was enlightening and Noel gave a very simple definition of his philosophy there. The, perhaps, most personal account of his own life was "A Richer Dust" the meaning of which may only be known by Noel and was not a great story. I give the book as a whole four and a half stars. I really hated some of the stories, others were too schmaltzy, but half of them were pretty funny.

A meticulously-researched compilation of The Master's Voice.
BEVIS HILLIER - The Spectator: "In the LYRICS something close to genius flares out;it is his songs that make Coward immortal...This collection is illustrated with a pleasing choice of photographs of Coward and his friends,song-sheet covers and programmes. The effect is of a personal scrapbook...The second merit is the formidably good editing by BARRY DAY. His notes to often rather-light songs are so learned...it is useful to get sorted out, once and for all,the extent of Coward's collaboration with Kern and to hear from different artists about auditioning for Coward or the premieres of his songs."

Noel Wien: Alaska Pioneer Bush Pilot (Classic Reprint Series (Fairbanks, Alaska), No. 7.)

Great Pilot--Great Stories!
This book is one of my favorites. I am buying another as I have worn down the original paperback that I found in a used bookstore. The book follows the life of Noel Wien from his beginnings in rural Minnesota to his eventual ownership of the largest Airline in Alaska. If you are a pilot or if you are an aviation afficianado, this book will appeal to you. The stories are very readable and the writer does a great job of making them storylike. He ties Wien into Alaska's history, especially the early days of aviation.

A sweet, sentimental story with beautiful illustrations
This book was given to my child at Christmas time a while back. She loved the story, but especially the illustrations. She thought Noel seemed so much like her and her friends. It was a story she could really relate to.
