Interlanguage Refusals:A Cross-Cultural Study of Japanese-En
I do confess that I am fascinated through reading the wholebook which reveals the politeness in different angles, one fromWestern perpective and the other from much Oriental one. To some extent, the author has excellent knowledge and experience the cultures of the two languages. This book is extremely helpful for my teaching and research. A word of appreciation to both the authors and the publisher.END

The broad distribution of most of the plants in the Intermountain Flora make the books useful to those working in adjacent areas. Not too shabby but good information on sled dogging.
This is a good book to read if you don't know about sled dogs or if you want more information. It's not the best book in the world but it is packed with tons of information on running sled dogs. I know the title sounds kind of joyful but this is the book for the serious minded beginning dog sledder.

This is not a book, but a tape of Christmas music.
L'age Noel and its follower, Encore Noel are two of the best compilations of Christmas music I have EVER heard. All flute and guitar. I had them years ago, and have had trouble finding them again. If I recall, they were produced in Laguna Beach, California.

Lord Byron -- Authorized and Expurgated
Lord Byron's parting gift to his friend, Tom Moore, was the publication rights to Byron's autobiography. Moore, however, yielded to pressures from Lady Byron, and burned the autobiography, thereby assuring, among other things, that Lady Byron would have the rest of her life to vilify her late husband without the risk of contradiction. (Do get a copy of Doris Langley Moore's The Late Lord Byron for the details of this story.) In return, Moore was given the rights to prepare an authorized biography, which would say nothing to harm his friend's reputation. The result would have been a long, tedius book, of interest only to scholars and insomniacs -- if it weren't for one thing: in addition to Moore's writing, there are large collections of Byron's letters and journals. Byron was to letters what Pepys was to diaries, and his prose is fresh, sprightly and gossipy. The letters reveal more of Byron than any of the poems, with the obvious exception of Don Juan. They can be read for fun as much as for literary or historical insight. For the modern reader, there are far better biographies of Byron, but for anybody who has become interested in the poet, this volume combines a passable biography with an excellent collection of Byron's own writing. For those wishing to do more detailed studies, the fact that this is the closest thing to an authorized biography makes the Moore volume an essential starting point.

The book of my childhood.
This book was one of my favorites when I was a kid. I never read it in English, I did not even speak English back then. I read it in Polish and now I want to see if it's as good in English as well. It's a book that makes one want to be at the places that are described, see and feel, touch and live with people who are characters of this book. I read this book hundreds times and I still grabbed it tonight, even though I am already twenty. And it still takes me into the author's childhood. Not only that, it takes me into my own childhood as well. It is truly an amazing book.

Excellent overview
The Ottoman Empire was a tremendous influence on many of the things we take for granted in the Western World, bringing with it strange concepts such as hygiene and an appreciation of the finer things in life.

This book gives a well written and entertaining overview of the rulers of this massive empire, from its earliest days to its eventual demise. Along the way we meet many of its rulers and marvel at their cruelty and compassion, great leadership and debauchery. Its a great story, one never dreamt of in fiction, and one well worth reading.

Magnetic Miracles
In "Magnetic Miracles" Catie Norris shares a candid, up close and personal story of her and her family's trials and tribulations after she was bitten by a tick and eventually diagnosed with the life threatening lymes disease.

You are led on a journey of sickness, confusion, family turmoil and guilt, to finally an end of clarity and hope that offered much relief and a life worth living. Now we all have this powerful information to heal ourselves, thanks to one woman's persistence and gathering of research data but most of all thanks to a love she had for a little boy that was brought into the world with a diagnoses the same as his mothers, lymes disease. This is Catie's story.

In Magnetic Miracles Catie takes us through the stages of her turbulence with this disease to an alternative method that WORKS! Not only does this work for one person or one disease but for a plethora of ailments that can be helped by this inexpensive, noninvasive therapy. She has made this an easy read for lay people of all types so that it is understandable while still maintaining the necessary technical jargon needed to fully enlighten and reveal how magnets and magnetic fields work.

I mostly appreciate the "A to Z" guide that is a quick and easy reference for many ills. I will keep this book for future reference as well as recommend it to my friends and family.

Mrs. Norris is not only educated on the subject matter mentally but has a spiritual side of herself that she gives to this book which gives it's content soul. Thanks Catie.
