Beautiful gem rooted in the present
A real gem on how Noel Perrin started sugaring from his own trees. He's revised the book over 20 years, so he's learned from his own mistakes and successes. He has some pithy commentary on Thoreau's costs of cabin making versus his own, as well. And did you know that milk (just a drop) will calm a roiling boil?

Spans the whole of a truly remarkable and varied life
Arthur W. Page: Publisher, Public Relations Pioneer, Patriot is the definitive biography by Noel Griese of one of the most prestigious public relations experts of the 20th century. Sent to England in 1944 to oversee troop information for the Normandy invasion, Arthur Page later became famous as the bearer of world-shaking news when he presided over the release of what was perhaps the most important news story of the last hundred years: the first military use of the atomic bomb at Hiroshima. From his youth and graduation from Harvard in 1905 to his government service in World War I and his work for AT&T after World War II, this biography spans the whole of a truly remarkable and varied life.

The Whole Relationship
Another sagacious volume from Tyl. His amiable writing style takes the reader where no "cookbook" could ever wend. He prepares the student to investigate the "needs" of the individual behind the chart while providing insight for the helpful guidance in understanding these needs. This book is not for the beginner or faint of heart. Be prepared to roll up your sleeves for some indepth work in the art of synastry.

A Well-written, Entertaining Book.
I cannot say Noel Tyl is the greatest astrologer I've ever known, but certainly he is a gifted writer & astro-psychologist with a considerable degree of charm. Please ignore its childish cover design which reminds me of kindergarten textbook - the content is truly entertaining.

If you think the first was great the second is better
I have read both books by Miss Peaches. I think hearing about Thanksgiving and Christmas from a food point of view is just great. It honestly made me think twice before i sat down for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. It differently teaches a good moral message.

A fascinating book about a fascinating, scandalous woman
This story captured my attention as a Reader's Digest Condensed Book when I was just a kid. Lillie Langtry lived outside of the conventions that ruled her times and became a legend. "Because I loved Him" focuses on Lillie as a woman, with colourful anecdotes, a fastpaced narration and a great admiration for the subject. I came away feeling like I had known the multifaceted, fascinating Mrs. Langtry

Jimi fans- buy this book
"Bold As Love- The Jimi Hendrix Experience" is a great book on Jimi, whether you're an old fan or someone who wants an introduction. It gives a well-balanced, brief bio of JH in 115 photo-packed pages. Speaking of photos, this book really delivers in that department. Many full- and half- page photos in their original glory brilliantly illustrate the many fascinating moods of uh, maybe the coolest guy ever. 'Bold As Love' is not as exhaustive as Gleebeck's 'Electric Gypsy', but it offers a more candid look at the JH legend . If you thought 'Electric Gypsy' was a little Chandler/Kramer heavy, you might enjoy this perspective. In fact, 'Bold As Love' would be a nice companion to 'Electric Gypsy'. Worth twenty bucks just for the photos.

Brief Encounter

Classic Film, Timeless Story
Move over Kate and Leo! Why go all the way to the Titanic when all the really interesting English romances occur at the Milford railway junction? "Brief Encounter" was simply meant to be a small art house film but instead it struck a certain chord in both England and America. Written by Noel Coward ("Mad Dogs and Englishmen") and directed by David Lean ("Doctor Zhivago," "Lawrence of Arabia"), the film represents the ascetic, upright, emotionally restrained lives of the people living in pre-WWII Britain (1938-1939). It concerns the doomed love affair between a married, suburban housewife, Laura, and an equally suburban and married doctor, Alec. Unlike "Madame Bovary," both characters hold no illusions: they know that they are middle-aged and unimpressive people, unable to be drawn to the extremes of emotion enough to defy society. It is a story of two undistinguished, but unhappy people who found each other but could not have each other. With its simple plot, drab setting, but intricate dialogue, it was honored with an Oscar nomination in 1947. If you just cannot refuse an art film, a classic film, or a foreign film, this screenplay deserves more than just a brief encounter.
