The revolution was to effect deforms that were needed
As a senior at Southwest Missouri I have fallen upon this book in my History of France lecture. This book will show you a wide arrangement of ideas for exactly why the revolution took place economically to its role in the monarchy. At this time you will be looking at groups of people such as nobles and cleargy that make up a small percent to the heavy taxed labouring class. Loe Gershoy helps us along in the reading by envolving us in the understanding of why the old Regime no longer had a place after the french midevel times. I recomend this book to anyone who is intrested in the struggle of not only a country, but the struggle to more civil rights and a worthy society to live in.

Fundamentals of Egyptian Grammar: Elements

WOW - STRESS FREE GRAMMAR
This grammar is the best so far. I have purchased just about all the middle egyptian grammars and this by far is simple.. at least for me. It is not as complicated and/or complex as all the others. I am able to grasp and understand terms better. It has vocabulary lists, simple exercises following the chapters and an answer key. It even has its own grammatical terms and their definitions Appendix in the back, i.e. whats an adjectival sentence, direct genitive, etc. since understanding middle egyptian requires good knowledge of your grammar. Not only does it explains it, but also show examples. The only draw back is that it does not have a dictionary to refer to in the back of the book. But it does have a good amount vocabulary for some of the lessons. However, for this purpose you can purchase a separate dictionary or refer to other grammars for definitions. I wonder if part two contains a dictionary, but have not seen it. In any case, I believe this book deserves a 10 STAR! It's a must for those studying Middle Egyptian. THANK GOD I'VE FOUND RELIEF and a lot less headaches.

If you want a great job, get this book!
To all jobhunters out there- Get this book! Why should you get this book? Because it works and it helped me get a fantastic job that I am using as a stepping stone for my future career. This book applies to everyone. From the recent graduate to the stay-at-home parent that wants to re-enter the job market.

I am a recent university graduate and I got a hold of this book through a friend. It helped me in so many different ways. The book is an easy read, it is well organized and gets straight to the point on the different steps one should take in the job hunt. This book was a valuable tool for me and I think for anyone who is determined to find that dream job.

The beginning of the book describes many of the emotions one might face if just entering the job market or if one has been laid off for whatever reason. As a recent graduate, I felt that noone was going to hire me and that I would not find anything. This book helped me understand that the most difficult obstacle to overcome before being successful and finding that dream job are your emotions. I got past my self-doubt and began working harder at my job-search.

The next step is how to turn your resume and cover letter into a winner that will get the attention of anyone willing to look at it. The book helps by providing what to do and not to do. Examples are provided. I took the authors' advice and my resume looked more professional and polished.

Once I received a phone call asking for an interview, I turned to the book to find a chapter on various interview methods. I took the advice and aced the first interview. Without taking the advice provided by this book I would not have felt as confident as I did. I was fully prepared and ready for all types of questions.

What I want to say is that this book gets to the point, moves you through step-by-step and helps in preparing you for what to expect with the job-hunt. What you find won't fall into your lap, you have to work hard to get it. What this book did give me was the confidence that I needed to get through the process. Now I am working full-time and I credit the book to my success.

Brains and Beauty
Aside from the wonderfully told stories, this book is an exceptional example of bookmaking, from the white on white end pages to the frieze-like illustrations by the Dillons that tell the story along the top of the page. A great choice for a gift book.

The Golem Of Gleiwitz

A Look Back in Time: A Time to Look Back
Sometimes a work of poetry travels to a world not well known to the public, yet the poetry reveals what is hidden from the public's eye. This work by Mr.Yankevich achieves a strong presence of mind of a time now more than half a century removed for the undiscerning reader. The time was one of silenced screams and unattended tears. It so happens that my own father-in-law spent a year of his early life in the Gleiwitz satellite of the Auschwitz camp complexes, so I have heard first hand how unbelievable were the conditions and how relentless were the designs of the Nazis. Limning the ineffable desolateness of those present in the Holocaust, Mr. Yankevich affords his reader a true glimpse into an unbridled evil which transfixed the time with a chimerical blow to the spirit.

an accurate mix of surgical war story, wit and wisdom
Gordon pays attention to detail in his witty, often hilarious account of one of surgery's sacred cows, the Morbidity and Mortality Meeting. Intended to serve as a forum for surgical education, these meetings often wind up a chaotic circus of finger pointing and eye rolling. Leo tags every participant: the hapless junior resident, the out-of-date senior attending, the sleeping medical student, the exasperated chief resident. His description of the room arrangement (including where the coffee is located) could be duplicated at every teaching hospital. The tale of the unfortunate victim of appendicitis recalls disasters that every surgeon has had to report. Yet throughout the book there is a constant effort to strive for excellence in turning the meeting into a tool that will be valuable, a learning device for all attendees. Gordon's Guide is filled with pearls; it should be required reading for all surgeons, both in-training and beyond.

The Greek Theater
Published in Hardcover by Fairleigh Dickinson Univ Pr (December, 1985)
Author: Leo Aylen
Amazon base price: $50.00
Average review score:

Brilliant discussion of what Greek theatre truly was.
Absolutely the best book on Greek theatre I've ever read, even better than Peter Arnott's works. This is the book that made me learn Ancient Greek! Aylen really brings that society and theatre to life, discussing the culture of the times and finding modern parallels for certain production styles (i.e., Monty Python insanity as a parallel of Aristophanes) and shows that the plays are not boring, slow, hidebound snorefests, but vibrant, colorful shows filled with dancing, singing, and wild theatricality. A must for anyone interested in theatre.

The "Start Here Manual" for serious Students of Stress
Nothing is more complicated than stress. No single volume provides a more balanced and substantive range of theoretical and research articles and chapters devoted to clinical aspects of stress and stress management. The authors/editors wisely warn in chapter one about "Stress Research at a Crossroads." Any professional involved in researching or clinically treating forms of stress knows all too well that stress research is multiplying exponentially and that as the body of information is expanding it is also diversifying and dovetailing with similar topics such as emotion, neurology, physiology and even physics and linguistics. Given, then, that no volume - let alone one that attempts to maintain a substantive input by the classical pioneers such as Selye, Lazarus, Janis and Meichenbaum among many others - can keep up with the research, this one constitutes a masterful, one-stop basic text for integrating the rich underpinnings that launched the stress revolution. The three major strengths of this book that keep it almost constantly on my desktop are its rich classical/historical content (just where exactly did we get the ideas of "eustress and distress"?), the expansive range of topics ranging from medicine and emotion to psychological measurement, diagnosis, and environment, and its applicability to a wide array of practical clinical applications including social turmoil (the Holocaust, migration of populations, HIV), treatment modalities and links to overall physical health. This classic text is the springboard handbook for any professional who makes a living trying to understand or apply stress theory to helping people change, or addressing the social context in which people live.
