Molly's Surprise A great book!!
In this book Molly McIntire's Dad is in the war so she thinks he won't send presents for Christmas. Of coarse the famly sent him presents but Molly isn't sure her dad will. Then she and her sister Jill find a package from their dad saying not to tell any one about until Christmas. To find out more read the book.

Moll'ys Surprise
I got this book for Christmas and it is very good.Molly is my favorite character. In this book she almost gave up all hope on her christmas gift from her dad but still had a little flame of hope that kept that gift from getting lost or stollen. But all through still she kept the Christmas spirit which is very important. I would recomend this book to any one. Thank you.

What a great book.
Molly's upset because Christmas cannot be the same because of the war. She tries to salvage whatever part of Christmas she can and when she and her sister Jill find a package from her father they hide it so they can be the ones to surprise their family. My favorite of all the American girl novels.

Wonderful
One of the most comprehensive and enlightening books on the subject!

Best Book on BPD Out There for Consumers & Familes! Bravo!
I own the site BPD Today and have kept up with all of the BPD books that have come out. I just finished this book and I'm not only pleased, I'm stunned!
This book discusses EVERYTHING a consumer would want to know and more. Easy to read. Filled with knowledge about what BPD is, treatment, a special outstanding section for families - you name it, it is here. This book I know will further not only consumer's knowlege of the BPD but it is helpful for families as well. I believe clinicians will learn a great deal in regards to treatment.
This book is easily the best book out there for the BPD consumer. It is also the best book for BPD families and those that love the people who suffer this very painful disorder. The family section reads totally without stigma, is understanding of the consumer and contains information on things you can do to help. "Stop Walking on Eggshells" is a good book and very helpful but it contains some stigma and reads without the heart that this book has. "...Eggshells" just went down a peg in my opinion when this book came out, sorry to say as I advocated for that book for a long time. There is no blaming of the Borderline consumer in "New Hope..."
If you have the BPD or are a family member, this book is priceless. In many cases it is us who have to educate our mental health clinicians in order to be treated correctly. BPD is highly misunderstood in this society. This disorder is treatable and the information is here in this book.

Excellent resource for BPD sufferers, their families/friends
This book takes a more holistic view of BPD than other books on the subject. Topics in the book include diet/nutrition and exercise/spiritual motivation, in addition to the traditional topics of psychotherapy and conventional treatment of BPD.

The text is easy to read and is well organized. In my opinion, it's one of the better sources available on the subject of BPD.

A must-have for all ED nurses
Finally an RN Triage guide book plus. This book was written by somebody who has been there and done that.

I recommend this book for nurses who plan to go through the ED experience. This book will guide them through the difficult and trying times.

The "Pearls of Wisdom" Chapter is a definite treasure trove of experience that each RN can relate to.

To top it all, the book size fits a lab coat pocket so one can carry it all of the time or store it in a locker for that essential quick-glance.

This book should be on the reading list of every nurse!
This is definitely a MUST READ AND KEEP HANDY reference/guide to facilitating an effective and appropriate triage process in any setting, with any patient. Written primarily for the urgent/emergency care nurse, this book is easy to navigate and will be a valuable resource in every ER, outpatient clinic, physicians office, school health center and medical library. I can see it reaching the very top of the "required" reading list for ALL front-line health professionals; especially telehealth/telephone triage nurses.

New nurses will love the "pearls of triage wisdom" section. Experienced nurses will be delighted to finally have such a comprehensive listing of cultural considerations. The Post test feature is a great guide for self directed learners, and would also assist nursing managers in the evaluation of staff competency. The inclusion of humor in many of the illustrations created by John F. Aarne, (who happens to be Val's father) makes this publication not only a incredibly useful educational tool but also a nursing treasure.

Someone has finally done it!
Finally, someone has waded through the mass of ambiguity and arrived at a top notch presentation of the triage function. This book is solid and useful, and it will very likely become the benchmark for any others. I highly recommend this as a read for the serious health care professional, whether in an emergency department or a private physician office.

This Book is A Must For Community Oriented Leaders.
I have read this book over and over again. The more I read the more I find myself talking about it to our Political and community Leaders. This book is a must for leaders with a vision for the community in their rural areas. I have started community projects as a result of reading the book. John Macharia Director, Insight Technologies Ltd. Nairobi, Kenya.

An Antidote to Cynicism about Politics
This book should inspire anyone who feels that our government is no longer capable of making a positive difference. It traces the development of a citizens' lobby on hunger and poverty issues and details the incredible results the group achieved. Buy one for the armchair activist in your life

Anyone can take small actions & really fight poverty/hunger
This is the story of RESULTS, a NON-partisan grassroots, citizens lobbying group that fights hunger, poverty and death due to preventable disease by learning how to successfully create relationships with members of Congress and the media. They have helped the Child Survival fund come into being and grow to $600 million, and have seen a drop in infant mortality and increases in immunizations. They work on global and domestic issues, and are now promoting microenterprise lending to poor families, mostly to women. The results of the Grameen Bank in Bangladesh, and other microenterprise projects in the U.S. and abroad have been remarkable. And these are "everyday" people... teachers, moms, workers, students...very moving book!!!

Insightful for a broad audience
McIntyre's book is an incredible testimony of personal experience in emotional enmeshment and the underlying spiritual and psychological issues that accompany it. It is also an incredible explication of how this common emotional condition is connected to christian concepts of idolatry. For those who have been caught up in the emotional turmoil and conflict that is common in these kinds of experiences, especially when they come out in a church, counseling or ministry context as well as interpersonal relationships, this book can bring insight and clarity to the spiritual and emotional underpinnings of this common condition. Contrary to some interpretations, this book does not label "transference" as "sin", but rather points out from a testimonial and pastoral perspective how the dynamics of transference play an integral part in emotional enmeshment, emotional dependence and emotional idolatry in present relationships. It also covers well how to deal with it outside the therapy office in the contexts in which it can occurr. It is not a substitute for more in-depth psychological understanding of the concepts presented, or for therapy where it is needed. It is a great book for gaining insight and initial understanding on a pastoral level about issues that are tumultuous and confusing in nature.

Protective Armor for the Flock
McIntyre's book is an absolute MUST read for the lay or professional pastoral worker/counselor. Her insights regarding the dynamic of transference are penetrating and relevant to a proper understanding of the subject. Whether you are being transferred onto, or have engaged in this behavior yourself, McIntyre's book illimunates the subject in such a way as to enlighten the reader to the harmful effects of pressing transferences, the appropriate measures and precautions to take when we're the object of transference, as well as what to do if we're the one in transference. A much needed and useful tool in spiritual and emotional warfare.

THOROUGH LOOK AT PROBLEMS INVOLVED IN TRANSFERENCE
The book i personally found very helpful in my own family setting as it looks on why people transfer their emotions onto others. It deals wisely with the need to find wholeness in our relationship with God - to open the memories which when repressed can lead us to transfer onto others. For the one transfered upon the importance of holding onto the truth and not wallowing in a reactive and subjective attitude is made clear. The book has helped me feel less alone and fearful in response to others' transferance and also my own unhealedness. I recommend the book as a 'restoring' book to those 'subject' to their own unresolved needs and those of others.

Subversive Institutions : The Design and Destruction of Socialism and the State

Author: Valerie Bunce

Very Smart Book.
I liked this book for the way Bunce is using Boolean algebra: a simple method but not widely used in Comparative Politics.

Not bad! Not bad at all!
The book is really something. Why? Primarily for two reasons. First of all, there have been libraries of material written on the subject of the Socialist collapse, so the readers - new to the field as well as proficient scholars trying to find a good account of it within the boundaries of a book - find themselves somewhat lost in the jungle of different and presumably equally good accounts of the causes of the Socialist collapse. No more search for them now that we have the Bunce book. It covers the event concisely and to the point. The second reason is that it offers a unique and compelling explanation of the communist collapse as embedded in the system's design itself. That, of course, leaves a room for a debate whether the collapse was somewhat predetermined at the neginning, or it could have possibly been avoided. But if research can produce a debate, it is already potentially good, and hardly any book can conclusively identify all the causes of the collapse. This one, however, keeps the reader excited and the brain stimulating.

A MUST-READ BOOK FOR ADVANCED STUDENTS IN THE FIELD
Among the multitude of books written on the issue of the Post-Socialist collapse, Subversive Institutions is a true masterpiece. It is very readable, and it can serve as a good introduction for a novice in the field, and as an excellent summary to an advanced scholar. Socialism did not collapse uniformly across the region. Bunce poses and answers three main questions: the nature of the collapse, the time of the collapse, and the reason for the collapse os state socialism. Why do some countries submerge into civil wars, while some disintegrated peacefully? To provide an answer to these and other questions, Bunce looks at the differences within the institutional arrangements, the institutional designs these countries developed during tne course state socialism. Undoubtedly, the book is one of the best ever written in the field of transitology.

Tantric awakening by Valerie Brooks
This book also helps men in understanding the thought processes of the female. I found it to be insightful and wonderfully simple. Many books on this subject try to be mystical or bury you in history. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is starting their (male or female) tantric path.

Great book!
This book about Tantra is one of the best written and most easy to follow. Not only does it tell a story but also provides some very insightful information about the world of Tantra and spirituality. I recommend this book from the novice, wanting to learn more about Tantra to the expert, wanting to share the experience of a young woman's journey.

The best written and comprehensive book on Tantra.
I first heard of Valerie Brooks on a radio interview and then I attended one of her many book lectures. She truly has carved out an enviable reputation as the premier author & lecturer on Tantra. "Tantric Awakening" is written clearly and eloquently so that the reader is able to grasp the big picture from falling in love, meditation, infinite orgasms to being one with God. The brilliance of this book is such that as you read the story of this 19 year old girl's initiation into the world of Tantra, you gain her wisdom and learn first-hand about the various aspects of Tantra. I recommend this book to anyone, not just interested in learning more about Tantra, but more about life itself. You will enjoy this personal journey you are about to experience through Valerie Brooks', "Tantric Awakening".

Practically speaking, it is really wonderful to be able to pop open this book and have unique and well thought out contests. The group leaders at our company are all appreciating "Telephone Sales Management and Motivation". Write another!

A Great manual for Anyone getting into Telemarketing!
This is a great place to start for anyone new to telemarketing, and can also teach the experienced telemarketing professional a thing or two. It gives concrete and easy to implement examples that you can use tomorrow! A qucik read and worth the time!

The Best I Have Read on Telemarketing
I spent many years in a business that depended largely on direct mail and telemarketing. I now know how much I had still to learn, and I wish this book had been out then. Telemarketing is considered obnoxious by so many solicitees that I always wondered how to get around the built-in rejection and resentment people have. Sloane and Jackson have hit the nail on the head in this area. I hope to read more by them.

Tight As a Tick: A Laura Fleming Mystery
Published in Audio Cassette by John Curley & Assoc (1999)
Authors: Valerie Leonard and Toni L. P. Kelner
Amazon base price: $69.95
Used price: $57.78
Average review score:

Flea Market Murder
When one of the least liked dealers at the Tight as a Tick flea market is murdered, another dealer asks her visiting niece, Laura Fleming to investigate the murder. Most of the story takes place at the flea market and to be honest I had never thought of how much work could go into setting up booths there. Laura manages to investigate the suspects while helping her Aunt Maggie run her booth. She finds out that the victim liked to make trouble and ruin the business of fellow dealers. No one is mourning his lose. Her Shakespere-quoting husband is helping in the investigation but Richard is having problems of his own. He has bet a group of friends that he can stop quoting the Bard for three weeks.

I enjoy reading the Laura Fleming Mysteries since they are set in an area of the country that I'm familar with. Even though Byerly and Rocky Shoals are fictional, it isn't hard to recognize bits and pieces of local towns in those two towns. I'm seeing the familar in a different way then normal.

Charming and fun
It's as much fun visiting Laura Fleming's hometown and meeting her relatives as it is trying to solve the mystery. That is what makes Ms. Kelner's mysteries so enjoyable. Her depiction of a North Carolina town is dead on, and this novel delves into the subculture of flea markets. While the novel is well written and well plotted (like Ms. Kelner's other work), it's the interesting characters that make this book a good read.

A thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining mysery
Every time Laura Fleming and her husband, Professor Richard Fleming, return to her hometown of Byerly, they always seem to get involved in a murder investigation. Laura has shown a knack for crime solving, so her Aunt Maggie asks her to investigate the murder of an acquaintance whose corpse was found at the TIGHT AS A TICK flower market. Out of their love for their relative, the couple begins to make inquiries even though they do not grasp their aunt's interest in the death of someone she loathed.

When Laura starts questioning the vendors about their relationships with the victim, she discovers that no one has a kind word to say about the deceased. When Maggie's table is trashed, Laura concludes that there is a connection between the vandalism and the homicide, both being done by insiders. Laura soon realizes that the killer will go to great lengths to obtain what he wants, including killing Maggie. It is up to Laura to identify him before he succeeds.

The Laura Fleming mysteries are some of the most whimsical and entertaining books on the market today. Toni L. P. Kelner captures the true meaning of community in a small southern town. Laura's literary quoting spouse adds comic relief as he serves as a counterpoint to the tension filled story line. They mystery is a mind challenger that is difficult to solve because of the long list of viable suspects. Mystery fans will have a jolly time with this well written charmer.
