La Cuisine: The Complete Book of French Cooking
This is an excellent reference for experts and beginners alike. The book starts with illustrations and explanations for the most basic elements of cooking.

Each recipe, and this is its best feature, tells you the degree of difficulty with one (simplest) to three chef hats (most difficult). It also tells you the preparation time and cooking time, so you know before you engage in a recipe, how much time it will take you. Last but not least, the recipes are superb! You really have to try them! I bought the book in (circa) 1986 and am looking for a new copy/print.

This author is unafraid to talk about relationships (and the way we Latinas approach them) with absolute honesty and concrete advice.

Thank you!

What a delightful little book!
Recipes, aromatherapy, herb pillow directions, advice on soaps, nosegays, potpourri, it even includes directions for making lavender wands and bath bags! Each two page spread has its own theme, my favorite was the end of the book, entitled 'Tea Time' with recipes for lavender biscuits and directions on how to make lavender tea. This little tiny book (only 41 pages) is packed with beautiful pictures and loads of information. My only regret is that I didn't get the rest of the books in this set.

This is so cool!
I love this product! It taught me so much about Pirates, and it helped me get an A on a report in school! It showed me that learning doesn't have to be boring, and my little brother who can't read yet liked me to show him and teach him about Pirates, too!

Very good book- an awesome picture on every page
I'd recommend this brand new and excellent coffee table book to anyone interested in lighthouses. it's not really a book to "read", it's just pictures of lighthouses. but the pics are GREAT! There are pics of the lighthouses in Cape May, Cape Cod, Assateague, Portland, Frankfurt, and more. Get this book if you like lighthouses.

An adorable "Backpack Book"
This fun-filled little book certainly can fit in your backpack or even back pocket. It is filled wth little notes to fill out, rip out, and deliver to friends. Provides lots of fun to keep girls busy. The cute shape makes it fun to use and it even comes with a keychain and name tag to attach it wherever a girl on the go needs it!

GREAT
Looking for Perfection is about a woman who has decided she has had enough of the city life, and decides to pack up her family and head for a more peaceful life in a small town. Before she even gets there, she encounters a man she's not sure she can have a future with, but she realizes she would like to try. Together they make a perfect couple.

This was my first Valerie Kirkwood book, and it won't be my last. It made me laugh out loud several times, and I feel in love with the characters. It was amusing, but at the same time gave a story of two people who didn't have perfect lives, but were willing to try and find one with each other.

Another wonderful story
Valerie Hansen has done it again. I love the way she has made up the little Arkansas city of Serenity and caused it to come alive in her books.
Having them all set in and around Serenity gives the reader a wonderful sense of "knowing" the people there. Some are so typical of the Ozarks that it gives you a true sense of "meeting" new folks. Then you run into secondary characters again in another of Val's great stories and it is just like running into old friends! This book is no exception, and I really enjoyed it.

A most compelling read
Valerie Kirwan's Lovers & Losers Of The Last Century is an anthology of four superbly written novellas, each dealing with the theme of love lost in the last decades of the twentieth century. The novellas include And Then There Were The Good Night, love, friendship, and good times 1974 to 1994; In the Cold Morning Light:, a mystery thriller and a story of elusive love; Michael - a story of illusory love; and Mrs Wedge's Waterford and a Crate of Champagne - a black comedy about life without love. The wry, winding prose is heavy with emotional feeling, relating broken hearts and the search for truth at the close of a century that revolutionized the world. A most compelling read.

very easy to read and use
Although I was not interested in low fat cooking when I bought this book, I found it almost converted me! I am now much more conscious of how I cook, shop and eat. Its a very practical, down to earth book with great recipes. The recipes are very real-life (I have kids and a husb. who don't want anything weird or fancy) and tasty. It has good, down to earth information about reading labels, deciphering types of fat and calories, and overall health. Its not fanatical, its common sense good ideas.
