First true book about food for kids
This book is awesome for children and adults. I gave this book to a child once and he took it to school. Kids were lining up just to see the book. No more Standard American Diet Pyramid brainwashing. This book is one of a kind. And it will be hard to find soon. Pictures are amazing. Text is easy and true to the core. It will make you change your food habits. Even if it's just for a day or 2. Vegan or meat eater you will LOVE it. America is waking up to health. ...
And just an update: the kid I gave the book to - changed his diet and now is working on his family members.

Why Popeye eats spinach and Wimpy eats hamburgers
This educational book utilizes a comic-book format to explain which food is nourishing and healthful. And which is worthless and damaging. Glass Man, whose transparent body allows us to see when he has eaten the right or wrong foods, takes us on the nutritional journey. Along the way we will meet the deadly Mucus Gang, whose members are on the Most Wanted List for making people weak and sick. These are the repulsive Meat Monster, Sugar Demon, Dairy Goon, Starch Creature, and their grotesque leader, the Mucus Destroyer. We'll see the unhealthy results from a diet of this poison: a clogged system, premature aging, failing organs, disease. Who can protect us? The Health Guardians! These are the heroes known as Fruitarian Fighter, Grain Crusader, Vegetarian Warrior, and Seafood Gladiator. Their live, wholesome foods can knock the Mucus Gang out of our bodies. This is a unique book, as informative for adults as it is for children. The colorful cartoons and humorous text contain sound principles of nutrition. Kids will get a kick out of the yucky junkfood monsters and the stalwart healthfood supermen. I wish at least one of the latter could have been portrayed as a superwoman. But that's a minor, ahem, "beef" over a highly recommended vegan book.

Great Message!
This book was given to my children as a gift after my family turned vegan. The book has a great message and presents it in a very non-threatening easy to understand way! I highly recommend anyone reading it to a little one to put them on the right path for healthy living.

A hilarious and hidden treasure
A friend turned me on to this book and I have to say it is one of the funniest and wittiest works I have ever read. If you ever went to college, you owe it to yourself to hunt down a copy. A classic!

I sweat entirely too much
Where's the chapter on "Caddyshack"? Frame-by-frame analysis of this comedic masterpiece reveals startling, poignant truths about the nature of competition, and what it means for a man to struggle in an increasingly hostile, ambivalent society. A stirring achievement, "Caddyshack" belongs in the American cinematic pantheon with the best of Chaplin, Keaton, Kubrick and Frankenheimer. Collegiate literary and artistic analysis starts with "Caddyshack." Ignore it at your peril.

One word: Faaaaaaaaantastic!
I wish that when I went to college, I had a book like this. I bought this for my nephew and he says it's not only hilarious, but darn useful. Don't miss the chapter about road trips!

Great Book
I wrote a review for this book the day after it came out. Hopefully it will not be deleted again. Anyway, the book is a fabulous reference guide. The "Friends of Ed" publishing company has, as usual, come up with a great lesson book. I have waited a long time for a book to come out on this fabulous 3d program. The manual that comes with the software does not go into great depths as to what the program offers but this book does. No offense to "Erain" because there products are awesome.

WOW !!
This is a great book, it will teach you all there is to know about Swift 3D.

As with all Friends of ED books a 5!
I awaited this book for a long time (2 weeks in the mail) and the wait was well worth it. The day I got I couldn't stop reading until my head hurt and I usually wear off after the first chapter of most books, it's that good really!!! This book covers a lot of ground, from modelling a Harley to a city to a lego cube. It also explains a lot of 3D terms I wasn't even aware of.. with all that said, buy it now with overnight shipping!

Well, that's all I have to say. Praise to Friends of ED!

It's hard to put down
The houses are unbelievable and some of our best treasures. For example; Falaise a house built by the Harry Guggenheim, is absolutely beautiful. It is not untastefully large, just right, a dream house. As an architect I am going to try to use some of this house's style in some future designs. By the way, the book failed to mention the house was used for the interior shots for the movie magnate's house in the "Godfather". Try to guess which room was used for the horse's head scene.

Well done all around.
You could think of this as a coffee-table version of the McAlester's Field Guide to American Houses (which I also recommend.) In this case each house is an historical landmark as well as an exemplar of an architectural style, and the photos are suitably sumptuous. I like coffee-table books that also give you solid information as well as pretty pictures, and this one succeeds admirably on both counts. It may not have every artist's or magnate's house you can think of, but it has a lot of them. A modern classic.

Beautiful photos and excellent information
My wife and I love this book. It explains architectural styles by profiling oustanding examples found throughout the United States. The McAlesters not only explain the architectural elements that make a house extraordinary, they also give the fascinating history of the homes and their owners, which include Thomas Jefferson, Mark Twain, and Thomas Edison. In each profile, they also include simple line drawings that clearly identify the features of the style. Since buying this book, we have visited eight of the 25 houses and plan on seeing them all. This book will not gather dust on your coffee table.

Read, look, enjoy
It has rarely been my experience that a picture is worth a thousand words -- the best pictures often elicit no words at all. Maps, however, are different -- these, when well done, I would gladly substitute for the best prose. And those in Mapping Boston are absolutely superb, giving greater clarity to a wide range of topics than words ever could.

Boston, of all cities, must give historical cartographers fits -- the city's boundaries have changed so greatly over time as to render historical comparison a great challenge. But Mapping Boston succeeds wonderfully in helping the reader to understand the city's gradual evolution from peninsula to metropolis. The growth of the city, the changes in population and land utilization, Boston's shifting ethnic and economic face are all elucidated colorfully and clearly. The bottom line is that the lover of Boston history will revel in this volume; indeed, I expect most every resident of the area will derive considerable pleasure from it.

For those who do, I would also recommend Diana Muir's Reflections in Bullough's Pond, which does for the region around Boston what Mapping Boston does for the city itself: places it in context, gives it color, brings it to life.

Must have!
This book beautifully portray's Boston's physical past, present and future through maps and photographs. The book does an excellent job showing how streets and shorelines through the years match to the present topography (a huge interest of mine when exploring the city). This book is for you if you love history and maps of Boston and New England. VERY WELL DONE!

Exceptional
Collects in one place excellent plates of all the great historical maps of Boston, as well as some rarities. Ranks up there as one of the necessities for anyone with a passion for Boston's topographical history.

Trying to make a point
The story begins like an episode of Law and Order or the Firm. Ichabod (Icky) Word has a Minneapolis police officer tied up in his living room and a dead body lying in the corner.

So this is crime fiction, right?

Wrong...

This tale brings together the issues of racism, art, and, most importantly, power. Five lucky artistes have been chosen as finalists to receive a tremendous grant promoting artists of color. The five, a Native American sculptor, a black female painter, an Asian poet, a black male mystery writer, and most surprisingly, a white female jazz saxaphonist. They are the multicultis. But something goes terribly wrong at one of their artist parties.

So what does this have to do with the fact that Icky has a policeman tied up? Who is the dead man and WHY is he dead?

These are all questions that you may ask yourself while reading. These are all questions that will be answered.

Pate brings these characters to life with a vibrance that rivals the classics. His prose is flowing if not conversational, and the novel tells a story that we all need to hear. His use of symbolism paints a picture of the world the world through the eyes of the multicultis. This story left me breathless and enlightened.

---Candace

Witty, intelligent and humorous!
I was thrilled to find Pate's new book, as I've throughly enjoyed all of his previous books; up to this point "Finding Makeba" has been my favorite, as those characters just stay in my mind and heart. However, Icky may become my new fictional hero; his philosophy and view of life resonated with me in many ways. Besides, I love a book that makes me laugh! I flew through this book and it left me wanting more. Do we know what the author's next book will be? My only guess is that it is sure to be original...

Not just good reading, a good time.
Alexs Pate has crafted one of the finest novels I've had the pleasure of reading in quite some time. From its shocking beginning to its climax, I found myself totally engaged with the story and its characters. I'm looking forward to reading more of Pate's work.

Comic Book Hero roleplaying at it's finest!
This is one of the most enjoyable and comprehensive Comic Book Hero based role playing games out there. The only thing missing is "symbiants". The Palladim game system is far more advanced and enjoyable than any other on the market, including Dungeons and Dragons. If you enjoyed it, you'll love Palladium Fantasy RPG.

Hell-yeah
If you are at all interested in role playig you absolutely must get this book.

Excellent
"Heroes Unlimited" is another shining example of Palladium at it's finest.

Eye Opening
I was amazed at the level of detail. It's heavily documented, which is refreshing in an alternative medicine book. In fact, if what Dr. Douglass says is true (and I'm pretty confident it is), then the mainstream medical establishment has a lot of explaining to do about why they have rejected and ignored light-based therapies that have produced excellent, well-documented clinical or double-blind results over the course of a century.

He also does an excellent job in not overselling his claims. He pulls no punches about when and where the therapy failed to work. When it does work, he also doesn't hold back in his enthusiasm. Some might be put off by this last fact, but I think his presentation is well-balanced, overall.

My only criticism is that, while most documentation is excellent, I wish the author had paid a bit more attention to completing all of his references. I have a second edition copy, which includes a reference on page 232 to something called, _AIDS - The End of Civilization_, Chapter 6. Unfortunately, there are no other descriptions of that book that I could find, such as who wrote or published it. I learned later that it was another book by the same author, but that fact should have been included in the reference.)

Another example of an inaccurate reference is on page 236, where he mentions a blue light therapy performed on a little girl in Chapter 14. Unfortunately, Chapter 14 is about a doctor with AIDS and how he has dealt with this personal crisis. It has no reference to either blue light therapy or the little girl.

Such mistakes aside, the overall value of the book is tremendous. I recommend it heartily to anyone whose mind isn't closed like a steel trap.

I also recommend another book by the author called Hydrogen Peroxide, Medical Miracle. The two books should really be considered companions of each other.

Factual history and indications of this excellent therapy
Dr. Douglass is a leading American expert on Photoluminescence (aka Blood Irradiation, Biophotonic Therapy, etc.). In this book he provides a great deal of very useful original source material from the early American clinical trials of this formidable therapy. He has travelled to Russia to consult with physicians there and includes some material from recent Russian sources as well. The book is written in an engaging style, with many insights into topics related to this therapeutic use of the chemiluminescent property of human blood cells. The abundant evidence from this book makes it clear that mainstream medicine has allowed an excellent therapy to slip through the cracks. Readers may also wish to consult George Miley, "Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation" and my "Healing Photons" as well as our Website--biophoton.com. Kenneth J. Dillon, Spectrum Bioscience, Inc.

Good read. Important Information about treatment
I rarely read a book all the way through as I have done with this one. Fascinating. Shocking (why has not the NIH done rigorous studies on light therapy? Full of hope.
