Hot chick
She's not only a great writer, Alex Finlayson is also really cute and surfs good.

Two great American plays produced by a British theater.
These two plays by American playwright Alex Finlayson premiered at the Royal Exchange Theater, Manchester England directed by Gregory Hersov. Winner of the prestigious Mobil Oil (UK)Playwrighting Prize, WINDING THE BALL is a black comedy about a charming mass murderer who terrorizes (and amuses) a small town in the Appalachian mountains. "The writing is splendidly self-assured, with wit and perception that bespeak a major talent." (Financial Times) "Gripping, luridly funny." (Sunday Times)"Devastating piece of writing" (Sunday Observer) "Brilliantly imagined" (The Times) MISFITS is an epic 22scene, 17 character play about the making of the 1961 movie, "The Misfits", starring Marilyn Monroe, Clark GAble, Monty Clift. . .and written by Arthur Miller, directed by John Huston. Miller called the film "his valentine for Marilyn" but it was anything but. MISFITS goes on location in the Nevada desert to show the brea! kup of their marriage. Although Arthur Miller and Magnum photographer Eve Arnold did protest, MISFITS premiered May 1996 with Lisa Eichhorn as Marilyn. "At the end, the audience clapped a long time." (The Times) "This is a great play." (Sunday Independent)

The Mix & Match Book of Dinosaurs

It's a Dino-Book!
I recently purchased The Mix and Match Book of Dinosaurs for my 6 year old grandson. He couldn't put it down. He absolutely loves it. He takes it with him in the car for both long and short trips. We had many laughs together while he created many imaginary dinosaurs. He shared this book with a friend who now has added it to his Christmas wish list. It was interesting to hear their comments as they created many unusual dinosaurs. He also enjoys learning about real dinosaurs from the illustrated chart of dinosaurs in the back of the book.

My three year old will not put this down!
We first saw this book in a doctor's office. My three year old has the names memorizes to these dinosaurs. while most of the tree year olds are raving about elmo or Buzz Lightyear, mine knows what a Tyranosaurus Rex is and will now name them when he sees it. Or a Stegasaurus or one of many others. It also lets his imagination roam as he makes up other dinosaurs and asks for help naming them. I think every child should have this book!

My Beautiful Life: How Macrobiotics Brought Me from Cancer to Radiant Health

Authors: Milenka Dobic, Michio, Aveline Kushi, and Alex Jack
Amazon base price: $15.95
Average review score:

Aligning With the Healing Powers of the Universe
"Cancer." This dread diagnosis is now heard by one out of two men and one out of three women. In telling the story of her illness and subsequent recovery, Mina Dobic openly talks about the kind of problems we all face these days - emotional family conflicts, environmental pollution, stressful work life, and thoughtless eating habits. All these present our bodies with conditions they can't handle.

For Mina, these pressures accumulated to the point that in 1987 she was diagnosed with fourth stage (terminal) ovarian cancer metastasized throughout her body. But this courageous woman was not about to surrender her life to outside influences.

Her spirit rebelled against doctors judging she had "two months to live". How could anyone else know the strength of her heart? Of her soul? How could they know the depth of her passion for life and desire to care for her family?

With the help of a doctor friend knowledgeable about the importance of a balanced and nourishing diet, Mina took matters into her own hands. Undergirded by the loving support of family and friends, she faithfully followed the instructions of Michio Kushi, a leading macrobiotic healer. In six months she was pronounced cancer-free!

I liked this book because it testifies to the miraculous healing powers of our human bodies and the Universe which created us. Her story assures us that cancer need not be a sentence of premature death. I found very helpful the details of her daily routine and recipes that restored her health. Reading it can help prevent cancer. It is a beautiful gift for anyone struggling to overcome this life-threatening disease.

Wonderful Story About a Courageous Woman!
It is a heartwarming story of a courageous woman and her fight with ovarian cancer. She was given 2 months to live-she has survived 12 years. She was introduced to Michio Kushi's and his macrobiotic diet. She simplified her lifestyle and adopted Kushi's macrobiotic diet. Mina has become cancer free and her healing advice has helped many others. This book gives us an insightful way to look upon any health challenge!

The New Frank Schoonmaker Encyclopedia of Wine
Published in Hardcover by William Morrow (1988)
Authors: Alex Bespaloff, Frank Schoonmaker, and Alexis Bespaloff
Amazon base price: $25.00
Average review score:

Best straight reference guide for beginners or experts
We use this book constantly in our tasting room. I have years of experience in the wine industry and I'm always running to Schoonmaker to answer all kinds of obscure questions that our customers come up with. The format hits the major points of each topic without opinion or prejudice - how refreshing to get the facts without the hype on a subject that is over-hyped to begin with!

The basic wine encyclopedia
I cut my own wine-loving teeth on an earlier edition of this excellent encyclopedia, literally reading it from cover to cover over a weekend when I was first excitedly discovering the wine hobby. Alexis (not Alex) Bespaloff's revision (and his editors) unfortunately took a lot of the guts out of the old book -- along with adding in much new information about New World wines -- but it's still a useful reference, arguably the one single-volume encyclopedia a wine lover ought to have if you can have only one

The Passage
Published in Paperback by Onyx Books (10 October, 2000)
Author: Alex Lawrence

Average review score:

Wow
I just really enjoyed this book. Great plot, great character development and very well laid out.

Moving relationship tale
As he nears his fiftieth birthday, San Diego architect David Thomas wonders when the better from his marriage vows will reappear. Ten years ago, he and his wife Angie lost their third child to sudden infant death syndrome. Angie never recovered and has turned into an agoraphobic. In celebration of their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary, Angie buys two tickets for she and David to go white water raftering at the same place they honeymooned.

When the day arrives to leave Angie is unable to leave her house, but she throws David out because she cannot deal with the guilt of ruining his plans. At site in the Rockies, David meets the owner Sierra Stone. He and Sierra are attracted to one another, but will he betray his wife who he loves but detests at the same time?

PASSAGE is an intriguing relationship drama. The story line centers on David's reaction to two seemingly different yet quite similar women. Alex Lawrence deftly touch on a social issue as David struggles with what to do for his ailing wife, a problem baby boomers face with aging parents and spousal illnesses. This tale is a strong novel that will provide much of the audience with much to think about with their own relationships.

Photographing People: Portraits Fashion Glamour

Authors: David Wilson, Roger Hicks, Alex Larg, and Jane Wood
Amazon base price: $17.47
List price: $24.95 (that's 30% off!)
Average review score:

Excellent Book, BUT...
As the latest from the Rotovision series, this IS an excellent book, BUT it is a compliation from the very popular Pro-Lighting series (which I already own). If you haven't purchased any of the books in this series, I would not hesitate to get this one! If you already have Portraits, Fashion, Glamour or New Glamour, you already have what this is made up of.

Very instructional
This book is like a catalog of photos; real high quality fashion/glamour/style photos with illustrations of how they were made. There are not a lot of text there. Maybe you still need another book that deals with technique, basic and advanced. It will be great in conjuntion with this book.
