My 11 year old son just loves it
One third of the way through the book, he was already looking at the back cover to see if there is any sequel to this book. At the end of it, he was narrating some of the scene and telling me how much he enjoyed it. "Definitely a good book! Most enjoyable!" was his comment.

Our Family Favourite, constantly reread!
When we select a book for reading together at night (I find it helps children's literacy if we take it in turns reading a page); this is the one we most often select. Why? The characters ring true, the situation is about something we can all relate to : bringing out the best in yourself while coping with new and different challenges; personal growth. Also, it just APPEALS to us! (And the children love the funny voices I do with the animals! Sometimes we laugh so much, and the children say "Mom, RJ wouldn't approve of you making him talk like that", and I pause, but we all laugh some more. Because the truth is, RJ is so realistic, you CAN imagine him glaring at you for making him 'talk' the wrong way. I just love this book - I wish it'd been around when I was a child.
Read it soon - with someone you love.

Articulate, intelligent, and well thought-out
Greetings all. I am a schoolteacher from England.I came across this book via the web and, as it fit into the parameters of the English Literature studies we were undertaking ie 'Farm Animals in Literature', I purchased a copy for the 'New Talent' section of our studies. (I like to expose the students to a wide and varied cross-section of literature in our society.) WHAT a pleasant surprise! This is a very articulate, and amusing book, with characters so deftly sketched you feel as if you'd been friends with them all your life. No sooner had I finished the book, then I wanted to read it again. Of particular interest was the way the author avoided making either of the main protagonists more worthy of our support. Indeed, we warmed to both sides as we learnt, independently, about their needs and interests, about their stance and why they had taken it. SUCH a balanced view of society I can only applaud! What fascinates me most I think, is the way that the animals are more people-representative than animals (think George Orwell's 'Animal Farm'), yet they remain intrinsically animal. Never does the author stoop to that time-worn path of making animals speak in human tongue. No, they can only converse amongst themselves, and in mime, albeit haltingly, to the human protagonists. I am FASCINATED by this book and can not recommend it highly enough for study by classes of all levels, and interests in literature. No matter how deep you dip, you will always come up with something new and different from this extremely articulate, intelligent, and well thought-out novel.

Stratton never had an original thought
I have read the book. I do not know for sure but I would bet that Mr. Stratton had nothing to do with this book.
Why?
Because I knew him in prison and he never ever had an original thought in his life..ever.

Squeezing
How powerful. It re-questions me how to be myself as a human being in reality. What is freedom, what is a life, what is "the time"? It keeps questioning me without elicit answer that I must have been seeking by myself.

Outstanding, unexpected, poetic excellence on film.
I had searched and searched for movies that would expand my imagination and give me some sort of hope for tomorrow that there are people that still strive to make quality movies and write quality books. Thsi is definitely one of them. I read the book and then I saw the movie that went far beyond my expectations. What a sensory pleasure.

A book from the heart
This is a wonderful book from the heart of Prophet Kim Clement. He gives not only his background, but explains the prophetic side in a very concise and easy to understand way. He very much has a "big brother's heart" to share so those of us learning about our prophetic gifting can hear from someone who is mature.

This is the one you hoped would be written!
This dynamic book takes you deep into the life and calling of a Prophet of God. It is an excellent tool for winning souls. It reveals how God's mercy can save anyone. It shows how God can deliver you from religious bondage. Prophet Kim Clement also gives you some valuble information on pitfalls to avoid. How to tell if you are hearing the voice of God or a stranger. It also shows some hidden influences that can manipulate prophetic words and what to look out for... Buy this book, it will surely strengthen you in the prophetic.

If You need confirmation, read this book!
If you feel that you are called into the ministry, this book will help confirm if you have a prophetic calling, although this book doesn't call you to the ministry-only God does-it sure helped me by confirming in my spirit that I have a prophetic gifting.

Straightforward Techniques
Therapeutic Parenting is a very well written, easy to follow book. It condenses the various types of children's problems into chapters so that parents can understand their child's problems. I really enjoyed reading about natural and logical consequences in dealing with your kids. It really helped me to understand the different ways to handle children, especially in difficult circumstances!

Are Your Children Pushing Your Buttons?
Aren't children amazing? They know just which buttons to push to get a parent going! No matter what problem your child is experiencing and thus, which button he or she is pushing at any given time, it is addressed in this book. Not only does Ms. Kim recognize this issue, she gives examples showing a parent's normal reaction, and then shows how a parent's calm and matter-of-fact response can defuse the situation turning a negative experience into a positive one. The book format makes it an excellent reference guide easily referred to as various situations arise. This makes it a book that can be used over and over again instead of being read once and placed on a shelf. This is definitely a book for every parent. It will help you to keep your sanity, especially when your children are in the "terrible two's and horrible three's" and during those "challenging" teenage years.

Yes , you can handle your kids!
...This book is a must have for anyone with children......it lets parents know that many of the things that kids do are normal and aren't the end of the world. The author gives excellent recommendations on how to manage your children on a general basis. But the best thing about this book is that the author K.H. Kim addresses a problem behaviors that are can be very frustrating and overwhelming for parents to handle. Not only will you find that many of these behaviors are perfectly normal, but you will also be given suggestions for dealing with them......

fabulous ideas for open-air living
After reading it, I wanted to knock down every wall in my house. Or at least remove the window glass. My next house will definitely be designed based on the rooms in this book.

I didn't read much of the text because the pictures were so captivating. They show every aspect of the tropical Asian house, except perhaps kitchens, which seem to be nothing more than a stove-type device near the dining area. The predominant theme is living among nature and even inviting it to share the living space with you (or is it the other way around?). Instead of windows and doors, you see slatted screens and netting. Very romantic. And a far cry from most of America's obsession with locks and glass. I need to move......

Wish I were there...
My dream is to be surrounded by teak and orchids, eating curry and sipping lime juice, and not owning any sort of time piece. Since that isn't going to happen for several more years I bought this book. I am neither a designer nor a photographer so my only input is how this book makes me feel. I have come to love Southeast Asia after several all too brief trips to the region and Tropical Asian Style, specifically Tettoni's photos, has brought some life to my dull suburban living room. And, while I realize that this book comprises several distinct cultures, it is the overall effect, not any particular region, that is so overwhelmingly beautiful. If you feel trapped in your American workaholic routine, this book is a wonderful diversion.

Truly Gorgeous Overview of Tropical Asian Luxe
This is an excellent look at the best examples of tropical Asian luxury living.

It is not a detailed exploration of regional design elements (look to Bali Style, Thai Style, Tropical Garden Design, et al, for the next degree of depth). It is, however, a rich overview of the best of SEAsian luxury architecture and furnishings.

Every page is simply gorgeous, with photos "bleeding" out past the paper, one trait of a good coffee table or style book. There is little or no image repetition in the coverage of the homes or boutique hotels featured, and each photo is perfectly focused, every composition seen in its best light.

In all the shuffle of Thai grandeur, Balinese earthiness, and Malaysian simplicity, the book might at first glance seem to be presenting a kind of fusion. I think it's fair to say that there is plenty of contemporary blurring of the distinctions between regions, but the reader can also look for regional elements and quickly learn them. Each property is given its own mini-chapter, which helps a lot. And the regional details and sensibilities really come alive when you read the accompanying texts, which are the work of expert style writers.

In fact, the contributors list reads like a who's who of style gurus. There is the clever and quippy Made Wijaya, descriptive Diana Darling, the meticulous William Warren, and details-minded Robert Powell. It's a great read!

Excellent second book of go
This was the second book I purchased for learning go (the first was Charles Matthew's 'Teach Yourself Go'). For the beginner, Go can be somewhat frustrating to get into. There is a plethora of books that will teach you the basic rules, but these can also be learned from a variety of web sites.

After these, the average beginner knows the rules, but not how to actually play. An opponant will play a stone right next to one of theirs, and they don't know how to respond... do I play above it? or on the other side? do I ignore it and play another hoshi (star point)?

This book teaches the reader about making jumps (how to expand on territory you're claiming or keep from being captured), base extensions (in order to stake out territory), and the basics of ko fights and contact fighting (what happens when stones are played right next to each other). If you've done a bit of playing and problem solving online, I would recommend picking up the next book in this series at the same time. As soon as you finish this book, you'll begin to see more patterns in games and understand that there is more you should be seeing behind the moves. As a result, you will probably want to study the game more, and the next book is really still a mid-level book.

My only complaint about the book would have to be just that. The niche it fills, for the reader who has learned the rules but isn't ready for serious study of go patterns yet, isn't filled unless you have both the second and third book in this series. These probably should have been published as one larger book. That notwithstanding, it's an excellent second (and third) book of Go.

As a side note, while the fourth book in this series is quite interesting, it is not as much of a prerequisite for studying other books, such as the Elementary Go Series, as book II and III.

Best Go Series for Beginning to Intermediate Players
By far the best series of Go books for beginning to intermediate players. So much of success at Go, at least of the recreational player who does not have a huge amount of time to devote the game, hinges on mastering some basic ways of thinking about problems and "stances" that help to identify opportunities avoid pitfalls or common mistakes. This book continues the focus on these elements initiated in Volume I by concentrating on a small number of principles and skills that are the key to doing well at beginning and intermediate Go. This book, like the subsequent volumes in the series is written with the beginner in mind, but should by no means be ignored by even the advanced intermediate player--any player at any level who can truly master and consistently apply the concepts presented in this book will be a stronger.

One Sure Step at a Time
This is the second volume in the Go teaching series authored by Janice Kim and Jeong Soo-hyun. It takes the basic principles laid out in "A Master's Guide to the Ultimate Game" and begins to tie them together into coherent game play. This is no trivial task, as anyone who has struggled through the first few months of Go playing will tell you.

Learning is a habit that a good go player has to have. This short, easy to read volume lays the rest of the framework needed to start the process. The authors start with an introduction to the real task of the game, claiming and achieving territory. This is a more theoretical approach than the 'you need two eyes' approach of volume one, and, for the first time, the player is lead to looking at the whole board and the fine art of moving in a game where nothing moves.

This little bit of theory out of the way, the book turns to the core skills of Go playing - attack, defense, capturing, Ko fighting, hand-to-hand combat, the endgame, and the intricacies of life and death. All of the discussions are good. I give a special tip of the hat for the attention the authors pay to the playing of Ko's. It is one of the marks of beginning players that they avoid these repeating capture attacks like poison. Here the authors give enough attention to this strategy to get anyone past their doubts.

While this volume goes deeper than volume one, it is by no means heavily written or over analytical. Plenty of illustrations and examples, but the chapter tests are gone. There is a final exam though. Almost painlessly, the beginner is eased into having a good basic concept of what Go is about.

Best darned book this teen's ever read
I had the privilege of reading the first ever copy of The Best of Radio Free Bubba as it came from Pat"Bubba"Jobe's computer. This book had me rolling in a hurricane of laughter for two solid hours. I finally had to stop while the second half of the book printed, and I was afraid that if I didn't go to the bathroom soon, I would wet myself! I recommend this book to anyone who can read, including teens like myself. :)

A real pick-me-up on those "dark" days.
This book is a joy and delight. Of course it helps to be able to identify somewhat with down-home Southern culture, but most readers will be able to relate to the writers' wisdom and humor no matter where they're from.

At Last Real Bubbas!
Finally, the world can get to know some real "Bubbas." With the publication of "The Best of Radio Free Bubba" by the Hub City Writers Project, the South has unleashed a powerful force and sent it out to create havoc among the prejudiced. For those of us who have been listening for years to "Radio Free Bubba" on WNCW in Spindale, N.C., the book holds no surprises, just 170 pages of some of the best essays we've already heard by four writers who believe in people. Meg Barnhouse, Pat Jobe, Kim Taylor and Gary Phillips share their thoughts on everything from blister packs to making lists. The book's philosophy is summed up by a bumper sticker: "It's Not Up To Somebody Else." Here in the South, we know that "Bubba" is short for "Brother," or rather it's the sound small children make when they call to that older sibling who looks out for them, protects them and teases them. Bubba is the real "good ol' boy" who will haul your furniture in her pickup, pull your car out of the ditch with his tractor, take care of your children in times of distress, and pray for your body and soul.

Provides full coverage
I have several books that are cited to support full coverage for the difficult CCDA exam, none of which except the CISCO written books really lived up to their promise.
If CISCO are manageing the exam, then it make sense to train up with their books.
If you buy this box set, then read all and learn all you will pass the exam.
Don't waste your money trying to save pennies - - Get the real thing and pass first time. These book are as good as it gets.

Makes my taking the exam a whole lot easier.
After passing the CCNA exam I decided to pursue the CCDA certification and since the exam was developed by Cisco, why not use their material in order to pass the exam. What I found in this prep library is 3 of the best books out on the market.

While there is no one saying which book to start with, I recommend the Internetworking Technologies Handbook as the place to start. Starting with the basics, then LAN protocols, then WAN technologies, bridging and Switching, network protocols and finally routing protocols gives you the foundation to build on.

I then moved to the Designing Cisco Networks book, which can be used in a classroom without a hitch. This book covered topics like business solutions, designing topologies, building and testing prototypes and even has a sample exam and case studies.

Rounding out the set is the CCDA Exam Certification Guide which helps prepare you for the actual exam with topics like Applications, customer support, topologies and LAN design, Wan Design, documentation and case studies. Overall there seems to more than enough information to pass the exam.

a common mistake...
...is to confuse the CCDA design exam with the CCNA support exam. There is NO new CCDA design exam - it is the same exam Cisco has been offering for some time now - #640-441. However, the CCNA support exam has been superceded by the new #640-507.

If one cannot match the correct certification book with it's correlating exam - maybe it is time to consider a different way to make a living.

This bundled pack is excellent. One should probably not invest hard earned cash on anything else. If one wants to learn the Cisco way - buy Cisco Press books. Also worth mentioning is the high quality paper, great type set, and superior graphics.

Wow
This was such a compelling book. It really touched my heart. The people/dog relationships impact the way you think about dogs and being a dog owner. Dogs are so loving and forgiving...they don't care that we aren't perfect. This book is easy to pick up and hard to put down. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Sorry I waited so long to read this book
I got this book for Christmas and should have read it right away, it is wonderful. I loved every story, especially the one about Louise, the rescue dog, who rescued others. I have three dogs but I wish Louise was my fourth.

Compassion of Dogs Compassionately told
My son received this book for Chirstmas because he is a big dog lover. We all read it and loved it. We were impressed by the intelligence of the writing and the research that was done for each dog. Few books are as revealing as this.

Lovely and valuable
This is not a book that I would usually pick up much less bring into my home. The book looked to "cute". But being a fair person I opened it up and read a few chapters and was hooked. Sometimes a book like this is simply something we need.

Just under 200 pages the some 40 stories are no more than 3-4 pages long and to the point. They offer brief lessons and encouragement.

As the back cover notes " In Touched by Kindness you'll discover powerful, heart-stirring stories about real people who reached out in small ways and gained tremendous results. You'll also discover how small acts of kindness can reap great and sometimes unexpected rewards, and catch a vision for how you can touch lives by extending the simplest, most inexpensive and most powerful gift of all: the gift of kindness."

Even if you are not a Christian consider reading the book and putting some of the suggestions into action where you are now.

Touched by Kindness
This book is a refreshing reminder, that even the littlest kindness that we show one another can leave a lasting impression on that person. We tend to get caught up on the materialistic things in life. This is a truely well written book that I recommend everyone to read. The inspiration and dedication to sharing the kindnesses the authors have experienced along their path with God and his will, can not be equalled.Sit down and enjoy this delightful and heartfelt book. You will find yourself wanting to read more.Job well done!

Engaging, Evocative and Lovely
I liked these fresh and beautifully told stories about kindnesses, especially those performed by people with hard exteriors that were really only crusty layers over gentle souls. The authors' writing is superb, the advice is sound and the overall effect is lovely. Every year I renew my decision to be kinder every day; this book nudged me to act on it.
