couldn't put it down!
as someone who tends to be an "impatient" reader and usually takes weeks to finish a book, i couldn't put this down and finished it in a day! each story has its own unique personality... sweet, funny, despondent, empowered, etc. the author's description of her surroundings and travels blends beautifully with the honest and raw accounts of her thoughts and feelings. i definitely recommend this!

The Astronaut Training Book for Kids
This book is an excellent choice for any young people longing to know more about space. In the book, Kim Long informs kids how to become ready for the exciting, but tough, life of an astronaut. It explains how to get involved with math and science, which are two keys to becoming an astronaut. "The Astronaut Training Book for Kids" also describes some hands-on vacations, sure to be a lot of fun. The author also describes the future of the space program, and a small bit about the history of it. I'd recommend this book to any individual thinking about their future...in space

When things go south . . .
My friends and I have been playing a Deadlands game off and on since the game came out-- in our current incarnation, we decided (being Southern by nature) to make Southern characters. Without this book, we would've been lost. New edges, new hindrances (if you don't know what I'm talking about, buy the Player's Guide & see), and marvelously in-depth descriptions of various cities throughout the South, including our very own Savannah-- this book contains all of that and more. Marshals who want to take their campaigns "Back East" will find plenty of inspiration here. Notable inclusions include new edges such as Gallows Humor and Rebel Yell, as well as rules for Southern-style duels. This book will definitely add personality to your posse.

A good presentation of the theory of partially ordered sets
This text proposes to present the pure or basic theory of partially ordered sets(posets) excluding related topics like lattice theory, graph theory, and combinatorics that involve the theory of posets but are not central to it. The text is designed to be accessible to upper division undergraduates in mathematics or mathematics education and is presented at an appropriate level. The material seems appropriately presented, and good and appropriate examples are included, making the theory of posets accessible to better undergraduates.

Give Us More!!
Excellent character building books with simple language but deep meaning. This will be read over and over again! As my girls mature, they will better understand its underlying message. Beatrice Loses Her Doll is also great. My girls love adorable Beatrice, and they are begging for more!

An allegory for our time
The Beggar King is an allegory that can be understood on several levels. On one level, The Beggar King is an adventure story about a young king who enters a forbidden room in his father's castle where he discovers a portrait of a beautiful and mysterious woman--the Grail Maiden--the one chosen to tend the Holy Grail and heal the human heart. The portrait awakens in the young king a universal longing for the Mystic Female and speaks to him of suffering and grace. So the young king dedicates his life to finding the Grail Maiden and freeing her from the powers that enslave her.
On a symbolic level, the Grail Maiden is the king's anima, his life principle or Soul. The king discovers that the Grail Maiden is enslaved by Patriarchy--the dominance of the masculine archetype, yang, over the feminine archetype, yin, through the institutional powers of family, tribe, and religion. On a psychological level, this dominance is manifest in the cultural preferences we give to extroversion over introversion, thinking over feeling, and the left hemisphere over the right hemisphere.
In order to free the Grail Maiden, the king must defeat three adversaries--a Black Knight, a Red Dwarf, and a three-headed dragon named Holdfast, who represents the Status Quo and the Patriarchy. He must also overcome three temptations and endure the perils of three curses--each of which test his fidelity to the Grail Maiden and, ultimately, his faith in God. In addition, each ordeal reveals a hidden psychological truth.
In the end, the king marries the Grail Maiden, which restores the harmony of the two opposing archetypes--masculine and feminine, yang and yin--giving each its proper place in the Soul and in the Kingdom.
So The Beggar King may be read as a tale of romance, intrigue, and spiritual devotion or as a psycological drama of the Soul's heroic ordeal. In either case, it is an easy read with lots of action and adventure.
