Sequel even better than original
Once again, a wonderful collection of canine pictures and witty captions. Even better than the original. Arlene Millman, author of BOOMERANG - A MIRACLE TRILOGY (The tale of a remarkable Boston Terrier).

And I thought the first book was the cutest!
Kim's second book is just as good as the first. I got my money's worth just from the picture on the front cover. That Westy makes me smile everytime I see it.

GREAT Book!
As a "mommy" of 2 of the dogs in the book, I planned on going straight to the picture of our dogs...but as soon as I opened to the first page, that thought totally left my mind. I eventually got there, but not before enjoying all of the many other dogs whose pictures made me laugh and say "AAAWWW"! Since I received the book, I have looked at it at least 20 times and chuckled at every picture! Kim does an AMAZING job of capturing the personality of each and every dog.

Perfect for ideas
This little book is well worth every penny. The pictures are gorgeous, and the breadth of ideas is incredible. Even if you just need occasional "help" in deciding what to wear or how to spice up an outfit, Chic Simple Accessories will help.

Outstanding! One of the best accessory books available.
At first glance, this may seem like merely a pretty picture book, but if you take the time to look closer, you will find advice for building a classic, comfortable, versatile wardrobe through the wise use of accessories.

My favorite part of this book is when the authors take one outfit (say, white blouse and black pants) and show it with different accessories. This tactic really illustrates what a difference accessories can make. It also makes me look at my own wardrobe and think how I can achieve different "looks" with accessories rather than buying different clothes.

The other gem of this book is the accessory checklist at the back of the book, divided into categories: basic gear, ornamentation, work, evening, summer, and winter. These two pages are worth the price of the book alone.

Accessories for the Librarian
I had been wanting for some time to break out of the dowdy Librarian mode. I decided to start my transformation with a book on the basics on accessories and Accessories (Chic Simple) fit the bill perfectly. It has wonderful pictures which enhance the copy making it more understandable and interesting. It also has information about where to purchase every item in the book and how to maintain the items after purchase. It tries to stay with the classics and tells you how to handle the trends. After reading this book, I feel ready to make accessory purchases that will make me look and feel confident

A highly recommended pick for any interested in wildlife art
Africa: An Artist's Journal comes from Kim Donaldson, a renowned wildlife artist who grew up in Zimbabwe on a ranch. His lifelong passion for capturing wildlife in art lends to a journal that covers the wildlife, culture, and history of Africa as a whole. A highly recommended pick for any interested in wildlife art.

The Book You Must Have
This book is for anyone who loves Africa, wildlife and or artwork. It has pages and excerpts from his field sketchbooks, drawings, sketches and paintings. The artwork is exquisite. What makes it a must have is that you also get a well written brief history/description of the countries, the national parks, animals and people residing in each region interposed with Kim Donalson's personal experiences. It makes you feel like you have been there.

A Real Treasurebook
If you are looking for a book that does it all, this is it. Each page is a wonderfully modern treatment of the wildlife and artistic essence of unspoiled Africa. Beautiful collections of drawings, and sketches using photographs of field notes really sets off the wonderful format of the book. The artwork is breathtaking and the paintings will make your heart stir with the desire to be in Africa yourself. This is the next best thing.

Best book on Antarctica I've read
I've been fascinated with Antarctica for some time now, and I recently acquired several books on the continent after seeing the Boston Museum of Science Omni Show, "Shackleton's Antarctic Adventure." Of those books, this is clearly the best. It provides information on the geography and topography of Antarctica, a history of South Pole explorations, and information on the wildlife that populates the coasts. The pictures are far superior to any other book I've read. The writing is concise and easy to understand. It is a truly amazing book--the pictures alone are worth the cost.

Awesome.
When I needed reference material on Antarctica for fact-checking my next suspense novel, I turned to this National Geographic classic. I expected the usual fare: extraordinary photography and a few pertinent bits of data. My expectations were exceeded.

The volume is divided into four sections. The first covers the physical geography, a litany of world record extremes. The coldest, driest, highest, windiest, least populated, etc. The next touches on the rich heritage of exploration and discovery there, incredible tales of bravery and hardship like those of Shackleton, Scott, and Mawson. You'll want to read more after this primer. The third section is on wildlife, very little of which is land-based. But the surrounding seas and sky are the most fertile and abundant on the planet. Penguins, seals, squid, krill, albatross, whales, algae, and more. The final section is devoted to Antarctica's environmental peril. Kim Heacox simply states the facts here, avoiding the overstatement and wolf-crying that cause such disservice to the environmental movement.

The biggest surprise was the quality of writing. My previous exposure to National Geographic was cursory perusal at the dentist's office. This one I read from cover to cover. The writing is simply wonderful. It was the mother lode of information for my next book, and will now rest on my coffee table, proudly displayed for years to come. --Christopher Bonn Jonnes, author of Wake Up Dead.

Antarctica - The World Splendors
Kim Heacox shows in his book,Antarctic Value daily way of life in the Southern Antarctica. The writer recounts to us the history of discovery missions sent to this continent, which is characterized by its interesting style with avery wonderful and unique photos taken be these missions. These photos interpret the very nature of hard life over there on the Antarctica. All the pictures tell the story of human, animal, sea life in this continent in splendid and exciting manner. In addition, there are sufficient and helpful remarks about every thing pertinent to Antarctica. of course, the Antarctica enjoys many splendid characteristics in animal and sea life, which make it distinguished and unique in all over the world. There are also many detailed maps about the Antarctica. It is a minimum- size volume distinguished in its subject matter and photos, which are represented in simple and easy manner. N. B.: It should be noted that the success of an geographical/travel guide book depends on the sufficient number of photos available their quality and uniqueness.in this book we find that there are many photos covering all life aspects on this continent. The photos are of high quality and exciting shots which attract your attention to the extent that you would imagine that you would believe that the photos represents one book inside this book. In short this book is recommended for any one who likes to discover this ambiguous area and who can not visit it. Iconsider this book as a reference/easy guide for the wonderful southern Antarctica.

Community Sailing Center Supported
My name is Scott Livingston and I am the Assistant Director of Baltimore's Downtown Sailing Center.

We have been instructing adults to sail since 1993, and we currently put more than 300 students through our programs every year.

We have been using Basic Keelboat since day 1, and all of our students have given this book high ranks.

This book breaks down the fundamentals of sailing, into digestible bits and pieces, with fantastic illustrations which help people to learn.

There is no better way to learn then actually being on the water, but by thoroughly reading this book, you will gain the academics towards sailing, and this will help the on the water experience significantly.

This is also a good book to come back time and time again, and really solidify your sailing abilities.

SML

A great introductory textbook for learning to sail
This book is the US Sailing textbook for the introductory course--Basic Keelboat. Instead of getting bogged down with too much material, this textbook gives you what you need to know when you first start sailing, and nothing else. I've taught sailing for 16 years at five different sailing schools. I have used this book for teaching and strongly reccomend this book for those who are just beginning to sail. As you advance in skills, more advanced textbooks are available to take you from beginner to advanced in meticulously planned stages. Even if you already of strong sailing skills, you can find and fill in the holes of your knowledge with this series of books. The fastest way to learn is to learn from the pro's.

Peconic Sailing Company Teaches from the Basic Keelboat book
This is an outstanding text. It is easy to read and understand. Sailing is like chess: easy to learn and difficult to master. We advise that you have a copy of the book before starting the course. Amazon does a great job of getting the book to you.

Always travel by umbrella, its the best way
I gave this book to my five year old niece only after strictly informing her that I would be repossessing it after a few years for my own personal collecion. Big Max is fun to read on a rainy afternoon, no matter your age. Is Big Max the world's greatest detective? He only admits that he tries to be, and that is all you can ask for.

Still a favorite, 25 years later
The King of Pooka Pooka's elephant is missing, and Big Max, the world's greatest detective, is hired to find him. This is a heartwarming story about the importance of family, disguised as a suspenseful mystery. Where did Jumbo go, and why? The journey to the answer is entertaining, and should appeal to all ages. I read it for the first time more than 25 years ago, and it is still one of my favorite books after many, many readings.

"Big Max" a treat for beginning readers
Kin Platt's "Big Max" chronicles the adventures of the title character, a Sherlockian detective who approaches a case concerning a missing elephant with unorthodox but always logical acumen. Young readers will delight in solving many of the small mysteries along with Big Max on the way to the resolution of the central enigma. Robert Lopshire's clean illustrations perfectly complement the story, putting a droll face on Max, The King of Pooka Pooka, and Jumbo the Elephant. "Big Max" played a major role in my own development as a reader -- I devoured it dozens of times when I was a child.

Great for a Blue Lover's Birthday
I got this for my little boy's 3rd birthday. He loves Blue, and loved this book. We read it every night, and every night he loves to find Blue's clues and show me all the things he remembered about the story.
Great buy!!!

Blue's Big Birthday Party
This was our first "Blues Clues" book. My children love it.. My 4 year old, enjoys searching for the clues with his own handy dandy notebook, while my 1 1/2 year old enjoys identifying the items in the book, such as balloon, spoon, Blue, etc. It is colorful and well detailed.

Fantastic
Children love Blue and Steve! Transfering that enthusiasm to books is a wonderful thing.Keeping our kids excited about reading should be a #1 priority.

Wonderul Resource on Harrison Fisher!
I have been collecting Harrison Fisher illustrated prints and bookplates for about 10 years now.

Ms. Welch compiles so much of Harrison Fisher's work in this volume.
This book begins with a biography which has the most information I have read about him anywhere. Good quality materials are used; this is a large artbook with full-color illustrations printed on glossy, thick paper. Most, if not all, of Harrison Fisher's Cosmopolitan and Ladies Home Journal magazine covers are pictured here.

Each artbook has its own section that includes detailed publishing and printing information and is followed by the illustrations presented in the order in which they appear in the artbooks. Differences in first and second printings are discussed. Ms. Welch includes insets of Harrison Fisher's signed artbook contracts.
Various collectibles featuring Fisher's artwork are pictured accompanied by a value guide in the back of the book. Please note that postcards of Harrison Fisher's illustrations are shown in another of Naomi Welch's works.

Thorough reference source and great collector's item on Harrison Fisher and his illustrations. Would love to see more reference books in the future on Fisher. Hopefully, a biography will be published about him some day.

If you want to find out more about Harrison Fisher and his illustrations this book will give you wide exposure to his work.

Fabulous! Just what I've been looking for!
A great book--comprehensive, great insights into the author's life, terrific color reproduction and sturdy binding so you can look at it again and again. A minor quibble is that I would have loved to have seen some of the magazine covers full page, but that was probably cost prohibitive. Somebody, please do a Harrison Fisher poster book!

The Complete Works of Harrison Fisher Illustrator
Naomi Welch has done a beautiful job on "The Complete Works of Harrison Fisher Illustrator". I grew up with Harrison Fisher prints and dearly love them. Ms. Welch has certianly done her homework providing a well written history of Harrison Fisher and his works. The pictures are presented in a very loving manner with great detail. It is a must have for any Harrison Fisher collector! Beautiful!

Good instructional CD
This CD-Rom was very useful for me and my daughter (my daughter is 6 yrs old and a green belt, I am a yellow belt). The video and the ability to watch the video in slow motion and from a different angle is great! My daughter really appreciated being able to watch and follow along over and over again - it is definitely more patient than a master. I only wish the quality of the digital video was a bit better but considering the technology available to the makers at the time it is O.K. It is enough for me to practice my poomse just by listening to the narration which is very detailed. I would recommend this CD-Rom to Tae Kwon Do students who need help practicing their poomse at home.

GREAT CD, Helpfull for everybody...for every student/teacher
This CD is a great thing! The students can grow up their knowledge faster! Falses that the teacher makes ....the CD doesn't make!....Details that the teacher forgets the CD doesn't forget!...The movements between steps and positions are hidden in pictures....but not in this CD! It's like you have your own teacher at home....and only this reason worths too much! I am finishing the University now (Physical Education and Athletics) with speciality in TaeKwonDo and I can say that this CD worths all of it's money! Don't hesitate to order it....and in mind that I have no profit from this!

Simple to use and full of details.
I've only been doing Tae Kwon Do for about 3 months and I'm currently 8th Gup. I have found this CD-ROM to be a great resource for learning the Tae Geuk forms. Each video has a Front and Side view which is nice when viewing the moves that are hard to see from certain angles. The voice-overs are very clear and detailed. Highly recommended for any level!

Witchery of Archery

Bedtime Reading
A gentle book telling tales of archery in the deep south of USA, poetic and visually descriptive of the slower life of holiday adventures and the enjoyment shared by two brothers with the bow and arrow during the late 1800's, don't be put off that it is a photocopy book of an out of print edition, the print might be bad, but the content is good. Good bedtime reading.

Like meeting a stranger you have known your whole life.
Like twenty serpents bound together hissed the flying arrows feather. Mauriece Thompson wrote this book in a gentler time for a less politically correct reader.

MUST reading for every Bowhunter/Archer!!!
Maurice Thompsons'writing style is simply magnificent!!I first read this book when I started bowhunting and was in an absolute state of awe! I couldn't put it down!! This book is a beautifully detailed piece of artwork for hunter and non-hunter alike. It will truly give the non-hunter a glimpse into the feelings that motivate the bowhunter...
