A Great Read!
How to describe the charm of Mossy Creek? By turns hilarious and heartwarming, Mossy Creek is populated with the funniest, homiest, sometimes orneryist bunch of characters south of the Mason-Dixon line. If you like Southern humor and superb writing, go on down to Mossy Creek!

Fine MOSSY CREEK tale
If the Lovin' Spoonful had been in the Georgia village of Mossy Creek rather than Greenwich Village, they would know that hot time, summer in the mountains means plenty of fun, ole southern style. The townsfolk look for a quiet uneventful season, but also know their enemy in slimy Bigelow still remains on the prowl. Meanwhile the librarian pushes the Police Chief into bluffing an abusive parent while the Mayor leads by example applying common sense to seemingly difficult problems. Much of the townsfolk meet eating dessert at the diner, but along with fans will find hot fun in the summertime here.

The third Mossy Creek tale is a series of vignettes written by a virtual whose who of the irons maidens of the south (more talented than steel magnolias). The contributions differ in size while providing a slice of life in a small remote Georgia mountain town. Each story builds up on the previous contribution so that the audience receives an anthology that uses the best elements of a novel and that of a short story into a tremendous collection. SUMMER IN MOSSY CREEK holds its own with its superb predecessors. Fans of the series already know that the first two books flow smoothly; the third tale shares in common with the previous duo a southern comfort smoothness.

Mayberry meets Picket Fences
This charming small town series really comes into its own with the third book, Summer In Mossy Creek. It has something for everyone--laughter, tears, romance, and the cozy appeal of lovable eccentrics.

Very Educational!
What a great idea for a book! It teaches kids to accept others and at the same time they learn the facts about Cerebral Palsy.

Believe in yourself
You can do anything if you try hard enough. This book is great because it shows that even if you are challenged there is a way you can meet your goals. Just like kids at my school that are in wheel chairs still do p.e. and everything else.

It's a great book!

Great work!
Very interesting to learn about other people's disabilities. Easy to read.

A "MUST READ" book by Kim Hyun Hee.
A Korean spy changes her way of life. I would go into detail, but it wont do the book justice.

A terribly moving autobiography...sheer beauty!
I have already recommended this book to my soul-mate Sehar

Story of a North Korean terrorist whose life changed.
This is a moving account of a North Korean terrorist who was responsible for bombing a KAL airliner in the Bay of Bengal in 1987. The story tells of her childhood and progression through the North Korean Communiist party. She describes her training as a agent and spy.

Following the bombing and after her capture, Kim struggles with the differences between what she was taught and the "evidence" she found in South Korea. She came to the conclusion that all she had been told were lies and with this realization, she became open to life.

Kim read the Bible for the first time while she was a prison in South Korea. During this time she realized that she could receive forgiveness for the murders of the passengers on the KAL flight.

She went on national TV to ask forgiveness of the families of the victums and to confess Christ as her Lord. Under a death sentence, she faced it with courage until the South Korean government commuted the death sentence to life.

She now travels telling her story of God's grace and forgiveness.

The Best Practical Guide In One Book
There are lots of books that do their best to guide you toward successful sailing but they never tell the whole picture. They all leave something out so you have to buy several books to get all that you need. This is the best and most complete single book on what it takes to do practical sailing, specializing in the tropics. Everything to think about... food and it's preservation, repairs to the boat, weather(cyclones) and forcasting, tropical diseases and how to stay healthy, and my favorite- pirates..how to stay away from them and be safe...of course much more. It's highly readable, too. If there was a fault I guess would have to say I wish there was more story telling of the author's experiences in his 25 year cruising time. But this book can't be beat for practical teaching and price. So I guess I read stories another time.

Tropical Cruising Handbook
I have been a "wannabe" tropical cruiser for several years. I have read several 'cruising guides' and many magazine articles, but when I do go this is the one that will be on board. It is all there, well presented and in language we all understand. A gold-mine of solid, practical information, excellent value.

A practical guide to forfilling your Dreams
I am not a person who is easily impressed, but having recently received and read "Tropical Cruising Handbook" by Mark Smaalders and Kim des Rochers I felt the need to write and congratulate the authors on producing a truly excellent book. The book is a superb and comprehensive guide to all that you need to know to make your tropical cruise a rewarding and safe experience. In particular, I was very impressed with the authors' sensitivity to the cultures and people of the tropics.

This book has reinforced my desire to sail the tropics.

I can't wait to cast off and set sail.

These pages are chocked full of valuable information for anyone planning a TEAM trip! Pros in short-term missions, Authors Kim & Chris provide great tips and insight in making your trip successful! For a terrific mission trip this is the guide to follow!

A must have!
"Vacations With a Purpose" is a crucial tool for anyone leading or participating in a short-term mission or service trip abroad. Whether it's your first trip or your 100th, you'll find useful and easy to follow preparation activities, team member guidelines, packing lists, and much more. My leaders gave us these books for two trips on which I participated, and it really helped me know what to expect, how to prepare, and how to apply the lessons I learned once back at home. Since then I have used "Vacations With a Purpose" when leading teams myself, and have also recommended the book to other leaders. You will not be disappointed!

Keep Your Team Members on Track
I've used the VWAP for years. I know of no other single resource that provides such a thorough overview of the short-term missions experience. It contains great information, exercises, and questions to stimulate thinking. Your team members will be better equipped for their experience if they have this book.

A Week in Vermont
About six months prior to my husband's and my trip to Vermont, I purchased Tree & Jennison's book and poured over its contents, intrigued by all that the New England state could offer these Texans. Because the authors had taken the time to visit the various locations noted in the book, I had no worries about the trip. Once in Vermont, I used the book as a bible, knowing what to expect in each village. I met many of the people that they had mentioned, and each had glowing remarks about them. Without this book, my vacation would not have been as organized or enjoyable, and we even went during Mud Season! I recommend this book wholeheartedly because the information is well researched.

more than just useful
This book captures, for me, something close to the heart of Vermont--it's clean, simple, direct, truthful, and deeply entertaining. I have done a lot of travelling in the state over the last 18 months, and found the Explorer's Guide reflects with accuracy and cultural compassion the experience of living and wandering here. Some people will buy it for the inn and the restaurant listings, but its real strength is in its quiet delineation of the regions and their differences. If I were allowed another star, I would use it.

well organized, concise, well worth every penny
We did not know much about Vermont but the book got us on our way quickly. The different sections are clear and get straight to the point.Wide variety of things to do, places to stay, eat and shop. A very satisfying purchase.

Vero Will Bring a Smile to Your Face
Caroline Hatton's first published full length story is well-crafted and appealing to young children of all ages. It is a great read-aloud book for younger elementary school children. Because it is based on the author's own childhood, the characters ring true. The essential spirit of a loving family is captured in a realistic, humorous way. Young Vero is struggling to adjust to her new home in the city after living in the French countryside all of her life. She and her beloved brother Philippe have their differences of opinion, but they love each other dearly. Vero has a strong spirit, and a creative mind that gets her into scrapes at school, at home, and everywhere she goes. If you are looking for a charming, fresh story--this is the book for you. If you liked reading Little House on the Prarie but wished it was funnier and more modern, you'll like Vero and Philippe. Nice pen and ink illustrations throughout for those children who prefer books with pictures to go with the text.

For parents looking for good books for their children--this is a winner--no bad language (like Junie B. Jones), no situations requiring parents to explain about bad things in the world (like Magic Treehouse historical fiction), no violence (like Pokemon)--just a wonderful story that will become a children's literature classic and that you will want to read again and again.

Vero and Philippe
I think Vero and Philippe is a great book. I really enjoyed all of the adventures that they had. I really liked how Vero let her pet snail Thor free in an orchard. Philippe turns out to be a nice older brother when he takes the blame for the practical joke that they play on their parents to get their maid Francine back. I would reccommend this book to kids and adults.

Vero and Philippe
I like this book because it taught me how hard it would be to move from one place to the other. Because I have two brothers and a sister, I could relate to the fighting and frustration between Vero and Philippe. There were many parts that were very funny and just as you were going to put the book down, something would always happen to make you continue reading. It was a fun book to read.

When the Drama Club Is Not Enough: Lessons from the Safe Schools Program for Gay and Lesbian Students
Published in Unknown Binding by Beacon Pr (E) (2001)
Authors: Jeff Perrotti and Kim Westheimer
Amazon base price: $24.00

Interesting Informative Innovative
I know first hand the dedication that these two amazing people have to end descrimination in the public shool system. It's more than dedication to end descrimination, its using their knowledge to spread understanding acceptance and celebration of our uniqueness.

As a student public speaker with Jeff and Kim and as a young person myself, I can attest to the startling yet informative statistics and other realities that this book puts forth. This book gives the teacher, or any caring community member, a general blueprint for a successful movement to create change in your school or neigborhood. It includes helpful tips, resources, historical facts, and the laws pertaining to glbt rights. The book also includes touching stories from the straight from the work Jeff and Kim have done in the Mass. school system.

I feel honored to work with Jeff and Kim. I promise you this book will be a valuable integral part of your path to gain the understanding and encouragement you need to end descrimination.

Great Book - Invaluable
This book is absolutely invaluable to so many different people...gay,straight,students,teachers,administrators,parents,
school boards,etc...It should be required reading for all teachers so that they can help create an atmosphere condusive to learning for all students. The anecdotes and stories told are poignant and touching.

Fabulous!
Jeff Perrotti and Kim Westheimer's book is important on at least two levels: 1. as a resource for those working to make schools safe for and respectful toward both queer and straight youth and teachers, and 2. as a piece of the history of social justice work in Massachusetts. I wish it had been available when I was a queer kid in the MA public school system! I would have found a useful how-to organizing guide, as well as a piece of myself and my history and future, in its pages. Throughout the book are clear and practical suggestions for working WITH--not against--communities to increase respect for people with diverse gender identities and sexualities. Perrotti and Westheimer offer analyses of the interactions between sexuality, gender, and race that are both gratifyingly complex and accessible to general readers. For those unconvinced of the need for a climate of respect in the schools, the authors present a strong case for change, as they bring their own experience as organizers, the words of lgbtq and ally youth, and the current sociopolitical climate to bear in the text. In all its richness, the book can be used as a basic consciousness-raising tool in addition to its use as a guide for working on making the schools safe for lgbtq youth. If the book is limited in any way, it's in the fact that so much of the material presented is specifically relevant to Massachusetts. Yet the authors have information, examples, and voices from all over the country, and they are always careful to generalize what they've learned from one instance to application in other places. (Meanwhile, I'm looking forward to reading the results of Dr. Laura Szalacha's further work evaluating the Safe Schools Program for Gay and Lesbian Youth, as mentioned on page 30. Even in another state, the lessons that can be learned from Massachusetts's version of a Safe Schools Program will be useful--beyond the scope of even Perrotti and Westheimer's book.) I wholeheartedly recommend reading this book. Furthermore, I recommend that you use this book. Pass it on to others who can use it. Once you've read it, you can hardly do otherwise.

Absolutely bewitching!
I wasn't sure what to expect with this anthology, but I found myself enthralled from beginning to end. Nnedi Okorafor's "Crossroads", Seth Lindberg's "Atropos", and James Dorr's "Madness" were special delights.

Stories for all tastes
A great mix of chilling, horrifying, and otherwise entertaining stories.

Very Satisfying!
This is a great compilation of magic, madness, culture and creativity. All of the stories were pretty satisfying, some of them terrifying! There are some writers here that are going to go places. Watch for the authors of the two longest pieces, Nnedi Okorafor (her story is called Crossroads) and James S. Dorr (he wrote a story called Madness).
