Fantastic resource
What most impresses me about this book is the relevant information provided right from the beginning. Within a matter of pages I found valuable tools to apply in my everyday activities, and that trend continued throughout. Now I keep the book at arms reach as a reference guide. If all sponsorship seekers were to embrace the principles outlined in the book, our efforts would become more successful, while instilling a higher level of professionalism in what we do.

WOW
I've read nearly a dozen books on the business of sponsorship, and this ranks near the top. It's full of useful information. The book helped me see some things in a new light. For beginning sponsor seekers, this book is worth it's weight in gold. I hope my competition doesn't get their hands on it.

A toolkit you must carry with you...
After reading this book I took a whole new approach to sponsorship and corporate giving. It walks beginners through the basics and explains why new strategic sponsorship is the best new tool for funding your work. At the same time, it has as much advanced material as any experienced professional would need. The examples and templates are invaluable. At a time when things are changing so rapidly, this book lays out a plan, and gives you the tools, to be successful in raising funds. It has been essential in my work.

Excellent bedtime book!
We had received this book from a friend when our daughter was born. We started reading to her at 4 months of age, and this has always been one of her favorites. She is now 19 months old, and this is the only book she wants us to read at bedtime. We try others, but she always goes and gets this one. It is such a nice story, and a nice way to end the day. The illustrations are beautiful as well. This should definitely be a "must-have" for every child's book collection.

Endearing... Sweet!
My 2 year old daughter received this book for Christmas from her great-grandmother. It's sweet, innocent, and an excellent way to incorporate God into your night time routine. The pictures at beautiful. We enjoy reading to together often.

lovely pictures... sweet story
I was so pleased the first time I read this book to my son. He received it as a Baptismal gift. The story is so sweet and the illustrations are beautiful... great detail. This book is an important part of our bedtime routine.

Excellence In Sales
Let's face it. Most sales people we come in contact with drone on about what they think is gonna make you buy. Wahburn and Wallace have revealed profound conclusions of what customers want to hear, based on hundreds of research questionaires conducted with customers of highly successful companies. I've been in sales for 17 years and I gave up on reading sales books because they were not helpful. This one is different. It immediately helped me improve my presentation that I've been giving for the last 11 years. I thought it was as good as it was gonna get. Wrong. I'm making more money and saying what customers want to hear. Even better, more customers are saying what I want to hear. Buy the book. You won't regret it.

EXCELLENT!!!
I refer to this book on a regular basis to train my sales force. It reinforces what we have been working on for several years AND the results are there. Great job Harry and Kim.

Easy to Use Tool Guaranteed to Increase Your Sales Results
I am a CPA and Harvard MBA and have sold sophisticated tax shelters on a commission basis for years. This is one of the finest books on salesmanship I have ever read.

It is grounded in excellent theory, yet it presents the information in a simple manner that is easy to understand AND easy to implement.

The book focuses on two areas:

1) Know where your customer is in the buying cycle. a)Is he committed to do something yet, or not. b)Is this a repeat of a prior purchase or not? c)Is he evaluating alternatives? d)From whom will he buy the product or service selected? e)Is the price right?

2) Different personality types buy in different manners. The book describes three types. a)Commander (take-charge, action-oriented leaders) b)Thinker (logical, analyze details, and like knowing the answers), and c) Visualizer (practical, intuitive, see things as they are).

A buyer is interested in certain information at each STAGE in the buying cycle. Additionally, each personality prefers to receive their information in a different manner. By recognizing the buying stage and the personality of the buyer you are trying to persuade, you can choose the most compelling arguments to make every time. This will avoid 90% of the turn-downs other salespeople get when trying to close a sale.

I have read other books classifying personalities into 9 or 16 types. Other authors define 8 or 11 stages of a sale. By using 5 stages in their DREAM sales cycle, and 3 personality types, I think Washburn and Wallace have done salespeople a GREAT service. These categories are well defined, easy to identify, and easily utilized to increase sales with their strategies.

Readers looking for more advanced strategies in these areas can try Kerry Johnson's "Sales Magic" and "Selling the Way Your Customer Buys" by Marvin Sadovsky and Jon Caswell. However, I feel Washburn & Wallace's "Why People Don't Buy Things" has the ideal mix of quality content which works, is easily digested, and implementable. I recommend it wholeheartedly.

Good list, no longer timely
I have had a copy of this book since the early 90's and I come back to it often to read and re-read the comments given by the various authors on their favorite horror books. It is an interesting experience to be able to see, within these covers, the growth and evolution of horror, inspiring itself over and over to become the phenomenon of today. From The Tragical History of Doctor Faustus (the first work chronologically) to Dark Feasts (the last, the book was printed in 1988), we get to see a veritable timeline of horror.

Lists of this sort are invariably subjective. The authors commissioned for this were asked to write about their favorite book, not to describe the best books so some great works are going to be left out. But it is an excellent starting point and this list (along with the Suggested Reading in the back) should keep any horror afficionado trembling for years to come.

A horror aficionado's guide to great reading!
This updated version of the 1988 Bram Stoker Award winner is appealing for several reasons. First, it's a modern classic in horror scholarship, a survey of horror literature spanning fifteen centuries, several genres, and a plethora of authors. Second, there's the thrill of reading great writers' thoughts about their favorite authors--Stephen King on Robert Marasco, Peter Straub on King, and Ed Bryant on Dan Simmons among others. Third, it's basically a big list of good books. The 100 entries combined with an extensive list of recommended titles (now updated through 1997) have enriched my reading for years. Plus, I'm always gratified when knowledgable people reel off their recommendations--their picks send me scurrying to used bookstores in search of new treasures.

In their introduction, Messrs. Jones and Newman express their hope that the book is "...informative and fun," also stating that it "should offer a guide for the relative newcomer to the subject, but also some meat for the veteran afficionado. We hope we've succeeded in giving a working overview of an often maligned field of literature." I, for one, think they've achieved their goal--Horror: 100 Best Books is a worthwhuile addition to library of any horror maven, a useful, entertaining work that belongs on the shelf next to books like King's Danse Macabre, Winter's Faces of Fear, Skal's The Horror Show and Wiater's Dark Thoughts on Writing.

Don't Buy This Book, You'll Just Need Another Copy
If you buy this book you'll just have to buy another one down the line. My current copy is falling apart from the constant use. The one I had before that still hasn't been returned. So with the next one I buy I'll be on my third copy in just under a year since my initial purchase. For the horror fan who doesn't have the time or volition to check out the horror websites or sift through all the rotten horror novels and anthologies, this book is perfect for you. In this volume of articles by distinguished writers and anthologists you get a taste of everything from splatterpunk to Gothic. Writers as diverse as Harlan Ellison and Richard Laymon (even going back as far as Poe) get to put their two cents in. You find established classics like Shirley Jackson's The Haunting of Hill House and underappreciated gems like Carroll's The Land of Laughs. You get writers who you never associated with horror like Shakespeare(article for Will writen by writer/director Clive Barker) and Melville. Of course Stephen King and Peter Straub, the modern heavyweights, are included, it wouldn't be a party without them. Once you see the Hundred choices made and read the articles, you will understand why they are there(even if you disagree with the choice). Reading this book sent me out to my used book store in an attempt to locate the out of print volumes, but somebody else must have beat me to it. And I still have yet to go through the dozens and dozens of books listed in the recommended reading list at the back of the book. So do yourself a favor, don't buy this book, you'll just have to buy another copy and you'll find yourself hunting for books like Sarban's The Sound of His Horn or Laymon's The Cellar. It is an addiction worse than smoking. It is a fear addiction, and there's no patch for it.

Great Biography!
This is the perfect book for all Kim Zmeskal or gymnastics fans. Just like all of Krista Quiner's other gymnastics biographies, this one was excellent! You learn so much about Kim: how she got started in gymnastics, her early competitions: her feelings about Bela Karolyi, and so much more! It allows you to see the hard work and sacrifices someone has to make to succeed in elite gymnastics. The book lets you watch Kim grow from an aspiring gymnast to a role model to many. Great job on writing another fantastic biography, Krista Quiner!

Kim Zmeskal Determination to Win is a winner!
Take it from someone who knows this is a great book! i have read it at least 7 or 8 times through, and after this book, you really know everything about this American Gymnast. I honestly became obsessed after reading this book, and although she has now retired many videos are still available of Kim. She was a phenominal gymnast that paved the way for Shannon Miller aand others. This book is great for someone that knows everything about gymnastics, like me, or to someone who knows nothing like when I first read the book. This was the book that got me hooked as her fan, and I recommend it to everyone

This was a great book about this awesome champion.
Kim shows of her style and personalaty in this book. She thrives in exellence in and out of the gym, under the watchful eyes of Bela Karoyili

Women's humor at its best
This book is even better than its title. The authors deliver a series of short essays on topics every woman can relate to, and they do it in styles uniquely their own. On one page, I was laughing; on the next page, crying. This is Anne Lamott you can bring home to your mother.

God is at the center of the lives of both women, and, we discover in these delightful vignettes, that he is also the one in the details. Another kudo to the authors: hardly a fat joke to be found!

A chuckle a minute
With keen insights, Bolton and Wave write about the realities and emotions of the ordinary woman's life. They weave a delightful mix of anecdotes into biblical applications that women can personally relate to. Bits of humor scattered throughout the book increase the impact of the book's spiritual lessons. I still chuckle about their self-described waistline after having babies: "a line between 2 rolls of flab that sat on top of each other (picture bagel dough with a crease in the middle and you've got the idea)." Written in conversational style, the book has sections relating to the everyday Blue Plate Special of unconditional love; God's menu of soul growth; comparison of contentment with hash browns; and the Child's Plate of character development.

Do NOT visit Girlville Diner if:
1) You have no sense of humor, 2) You cannot look life in the face and enjoy the wrinkles, 3) You can only tolerate flawless relationships and perfect kids, 4) You live in a museum and ride in a stretch limo.

This Diner serves up a gourmet menu of spicy humor, faces without makeup, angels without wings, all served on a beautifully arranged paper plate. On second thought, DO visit Girlville Diner. Whatever ailed you before this meal will surely be cured by the time you finish it.

A Wealth of Knowledge from a Great Historian
I enjoy Sensei Kim's wiritngs. This as a matter of fact, was the first book I had ever read by him and to this day I still enjoy reading it again and again from time to time.

Lessons in Stories
Richard Kim is excellent at relating stories of the grand masters of Karate. Each story contains one or more stories to be learned by the karateka. This book brings the past to life. Good reading for kyu ranks.

Very Positive for all Martial Arts
I purchased this book even though I am studying TaeKwon Do and not Karate. While the stories of the individuals featured were interesting I really learned a lot buy the lessons each chapter taught. Richard Kim does a terrific job of teaching the reader lessons, such as why it is important not to become a specialist in one area or why a student of Martial Arts should not study for glory but for personal satisfaction, as well as telling a great story. The book is short and to-the-point but also entertaining. I strongly encourage others to read this and will suggest it to the other students where I study.

Great book, plus...
This is a great book. In addition, I recommend "Strategic Organizational Change" by Michael Beitler.

The most helpful book...
This is the most helpful book available on organizational culture. Their OCAI instrument (for diagnosing organizational culture) alone is worth more than the price of the book. I use Cameron & Quinn's material with every one of my clients.

Dr. Michael Beitler
Author of "Strategic Organizational Change"

A remarkable tool
The authors provide a great model for understanding and diagnosing organizations. Their cultural quandrant methodology also provides a common language for people within an organization to talk about what they have and what they want. I recommend this for everyone who wants to understand their own organization. Their instrument (OCAI) is both easy to understand and easy to use.

Sailor Moon Manga
I think this has to be the best of the Sailor Moon manga so far It explains the origins of the Outer Sailor Scouts including the Scout of Destruction Sailor Saturn and how they must protect the world from her I give this book a high rating of 5 stars

Yayyyy! #9
Number 9 is a great book! Rini finds out Pluto is back and Hotaru is not what she seems.Kaori Knight calls on the last of Witches 5, Cyprine, to elimnate the Sailor Scouts. When Cyprine fails Kaori puts her strongest spell on the Sailor Scouts. Will the newly powered up Sailor Moon, Super Sailor Moon, be able to break the spell and save her friends? This book is awesome for any Sailor Moon fan and should definitely be on your must read list. The next book in a great storyline, something I would want to read!

Thrilling!
This is a great book! Like usual Naoko's drawing are gorgeous and the story line is enthralling! We finally get to see what exactally who Outer Senshi are and what they suddenly showed up for. Also, Mistress 9 appears and Chibi-Usa is horribly affected. O_o I'm not going to go into more detail, because I don't really want to give out too many spoilers, if you want to know what happens, go buy the book. :) But I recommend getting number seven and eight because if you don't, trust me, you won't have any idea what is going on.
