A pleasing addition to the sense of Design
A very comprehensive book full of pictures of everything it covers. All aspects of design are covered from floors, walls, colors, furniture, accessories .. etc. All rooms of a house are featured and very detailed explanations are with each picture. Many new ideas that are actually feasable. A beautiful book for anyone who is planning a new house or just renovating an existing one (like me). I Particularly liked the mix of colors and the various ideas for the floors. This is a excellent addition to my decor library.

Fresh and filled with ideas
Looking through this book will take the film from your eyes. The rooms often have wildly disparate pieces or structural elements juxtaposed, yet on page after page the results are elegant, clean and fresh. I found the book especially good at suggesting innovative storage and space solutions -- see the bright white classic colonial kitchen with columns, by Mark Epstein on page 112, or the modern kitchen, all warmth, light, and soft curves, by Leopoldo Rosati on 116. (Speaking of storage solutions, don't miss Rosati's stunningly sensible take on how to show off your wine, 118.) "Eclectic Interiors" is full of unusual, eclectic ideas -- Livingston has a terrific eye.

Nice Overview, Great Presentation, Elegant Salads
I bought this a few years ago and it is probably my favorite cookbook. The salads presented here take the dish to an art form which focuses on simplicity, taste, and exquisite presentation. While some of the ingredients specified in a few recipes are for the epicurean who knows where to find edible flowers and other such ingredients, many of the dishes are simple, inspirational, and adaptable. It's like having haute cuisine accessible: without all of the labor you need for entrees or desserts. So if you want one easy-to-prepare aspect of a meal to impress your guests (or yourself), this is the easiest and the best way to get there that I've found. The authors have a great sense of aesthetics. I'm sorry to see that this book is out of print; if you like salads and you can find this book, get it if you can!

cafedemedici
From oils to spices, vinegarettes to cheeses and artistic planning, this is the most beautiful salad book I've come across. I learned how to make basic and complex dressings and gained ideas on preparation and presentation to make my guests' mouth's salivate!

A thoroughly detailed account of a birth mother's search
This was literally two books in one! Kathy Denton's account of searching for, and finding, (though not meeting) her daughter was very detailed and she provided excellent search tips on finding missing people along the way. Her sister, Teresa Cummings, added a lighter side to the book in her contribution of "Spynet, A Fable", a search for a missing town. It is interspersed throughout the book, providing a step-back-and-breath break from Kathy's emotional search. Kathy includes many internet sites and all kinds of other places to go to aid in your search. It really is a handbook for searching!

The Search of a Lifetime-- AWESOME BOOK!!!!
Very Interesting and Captivating, and then some! I am a Bmom, who is searching for My Son. These authors, have put together tons of information, which I have found to be most useful. As I read the book, I felt like I was right along with Kathy, as I have so many of the same feelings, as she did! It is a MUST read for ALL Bmom's who are searching for their child/children. Once you start reading it, You won't want to put her book down... Do yourself a favor, pick it up today, and be Captivated, from start to finish. 5 STARS +

A delightful "How-To" book on what's considered a dying art!
Where was Kathryn Flocken's book when I was learning the fine art of silhouette cutting over 15 years ago? When I first discovered this unique art form, I was fortunant enough to have been taught the basics by two experienced Silhouette Artists, each woman having over 12 years under their belts...but I couldn't learn enough from these talented women (one decided to start a family, so she gave it up, and the other took another job offer out of state), so I was left with my limited knowledge, and had to figure the rest out for myself!

That's where Kathryn's book, "Silhouettes, Rediscovering the Lost Art" comes in. This delightful book, with all its information in clear, consise, easy-to-understand language, is the perfect learning tool for the budding soon-to-be silhouette artist. Not only would I have mastered the art alot sooner, all the little questions I had concerning certain techniques would have been answered. Best of all, Kathryn also shows you step-by-step how to create the right styles with all the detailed illustrations throughout the book's 170 pages. It's like having a Master Artist beside you, guiding you through all the difficult proceedures! This book would have fit the bill in my early years of learning the artform...it would've taken over where my teachers left off! Kathryn may have written this great gem 15 years too late, but it's the perfect guide for the aspiring artist who wants to learn the fine art of silhouette cutting, but can't find anyone to teach them! Better late then never!

Bravo!

Golden Presentation and Priceless Printed Instruction
This is a one of a kind in the art of silhouette portraiture. Kathryn Flocken has renewed my childhood memories and appreciation for the silhouette artist and art of portraiture.

As an educator, I was thrilled to find consideration for multiple learning styles in this friendly and down-to-earth guide. Kathryn's attention to detail goes beyond the history and how to of the art form. Equally noteworthy: This book is so well written it serves as an exceptional example of A+ word choice, clarity, voice, and more! Parents and teachers! Capable artists and scholars! Get this TREASURE!

Great photos, great dermatological synopsis
Those practitioners looking for a good overview of many dermatological conditions, with up to date treatments have found a pear in this Habib edition. This book stays on my desk or in a room - where I peruse through pictures or show patients pictures of others with their condition. Most dermatological atlas or text are incredibly expensive. The price makes this edition a MUST BUY.

Great Images
Contains the most information I've seen in a derm paperback. Great reference. Excellent images and diagrams.

Vulgar and wonderful
"The sporting life" is an odyssey in an american effort to preserve the european tradition of hunting and fishing. Vulgar, but absolutely wonderful.

A celebration for the American Sporting Life traditions
I love this book!. My copy, which I bought some years ago is getting rather worn for the many times I've re-read it and browsed through its pages, discovering new small details every time in its wonderful pictures. The book reflects the deep old involvment of Americans with land and its flora and fauna, as well as its reverence and respect for it. It shows the traditions of Americans, and their concern for keeping them alive. A lovely book, nice to read and nice to view its photographs.

Private homes, fishing and hunting lodges, collections of hunting and fishing memorabilia and old books, together with old decoys, nice interior decor and furniture are delightful to be seen. I'd surely would love to find another book with a similar content and approach to this subject to enjoy as much as I enjoyed this one!

A Sweet Book
I absolutely love this concept book. My preschool children love it too. I have 4 & 5 year olds and this book is a great jumping off point to all sorts of Springtime themes! I have read many of Eve Bunting's books and all are wonderful; I highly recommend them all.

Colorful, playful, nostalgic, bright and fun.
Looking for the perfect book for kids to understand the concept of 'how a seed grows'...? This one is great, and shows the development of the seeds, from beginning to end while bright illustrations show what fun the garden brings home to the little boy who grew his own 'sunflower house' and shared it with others. How one seed can grow into a plant that supplies even more seeds to sow, and bring pleasure not only for one season, but many seasons thereafter that others may enjoy as well.

Survival Stories: Memoirs of Crisis

Above all, hope.
There's a whole slew of books out that strive to inspire via "happy ending" stories. The prayer is answered, a mysterious stranger appears to set things right in the nick of time. But as Reynolds Price, one of the authors of in this collection writes, "The answer to most prayers is: No." In "Survival Stories" Editor Kathryn Rhett presents unanesthized stories of the people whose lives took that hairpin turn, got the fatal diagnosis, bore the child that would never get better, lost the face to snarling huskie or the jaw to cancer, failed at marriage not once but twice...all the things you hope, pray or smugly believe righteous living will stave off, but happen any way. This book is sobering, clear-eyed, and, in spite of being filled with people whose bodies, minds, souls have been flayed, inspiring, for these authors have all gone on living. They write of the will to survive that is what you are left with once every layer has been painstakin! gly peeled away.

Genre defining anthology
This genre defining anthology proves essential reading for anyone interested in the contemporary memoir.Highlights include the editor's lucid and exacting introduction, and affecting essays by Rick Moody, Lucy Grealy, Natalie Kusz and Richard McCann. Taken together this impressive collection offers both the challenges and consolations we expect of great literature.
