A book that will touch your soul!!
As a woman myself, this book is a great read. It touched me in places, that had long since died. Its the journey of four women, sisters, from all different corners of the world. They come together, for there fathers funeral. This book is the discovery of what every woman goes through, the discover of strength, they didnt know they had, of friendships that are reborn again, and learning to trust your heart. Read this on it will take you on a journey of yourself also. Let it make you cry, laugh, and smile so big, you think your heart will burst. A MUST READ BOOK.

A real writer!
I love all of Kathryn's books and SOMEWHERE LIES THE MOON has to be one of her best. Oh, what am I saying? They're all terrific reads, brimming with emotion, fully developed characters, plots and rich settings. Suspense lies inside the hearts' of these characters, and she keeps you wondering about them long after you've closed the book. All of her books are keepers for me, I just wish she would write faster. It's probably one of the reasons why many don't know about this wonderful author. If you like richly told novels, real novels with characters that stay with you for years to come, don't miss this book.

A beautiful book!
Kathryn Lynn Davis is the kind of writer you rarely see anymore. In this world of instant gratification, it seems like no one takes the time and care to write really satisfying, evocative stories--but Ms. Davis is the wonderful exception. SOMEWHERE is a book you can truly curl up with and enjoy for hours on end, savoring its characters and settings, its passion and wisdom. Like THE SHELL SEEKERS or THE THORN BIRDS, it will give you days of pleasure and you'll wish for it never to end.

Truly Wonderful Book!
This book quickly became a favorite in our house, my four girls love to have it read over and over, and they love to read it themselves and look at the pictures. They story is so sweet, and the illustrations are beautiful. I recommend this book for everyone, but especially for adults who have had that one special doll in their past, and for children who have that special doll now.

A modern day Velveteen Rabbit!
A truly touching story, brought to life with delightful illustrations from Wendy Anderson Halperin, about the special bond between a child and a treasured toy. As a collector of children's books, this one is a winner and will be treasured for years to come.

The simple pleasures of loving a doll
My seven year old and I sat down to read this book. It brought back memories of the little dolls that I had loved. The wear and tear on the little doll did not matter to Sophie. No matter what happen to Rose, Sophie loved her. The illustrations were wonderful. My little girl loved to follow the boxes around the edge. Everytime we read it, she discovers something new. I bought this book for her to keep and share with her children someday.

e-business on a reasonable scale
Rather than portray e-business as a huge effort that will consume everything and will transform the world, this is a solid book on getting down to the nuts and bolts of real world. If most e-business books are geared to business suits and theories, this book is down to working uniforms and getting things done without a lot of people or time. It does not assume that you have some fancy systems or technology or that you are a big company with hundreds of IT people. It can fit start up firms and small firms as well. The book provides a detailed roadmap and tells you how to deal with the pitfalls that you will find along the way. The extensive experience of the authors in doing e-business really shows in this book in the issues, lessons learned, and examples. In using the book we have already used 40 of the guidelines and run across over twenty issues. If you want to do e-business, buy this book. If you want theory and vague concepts go elsewhere.

Deals with real implementation
One thing that I liked about the book was the analysis of specific issues across an entire part of the book. There is a chapter on outsourcing as well. The steps in the book can be carried out in parallel. We have been using the book to lay out our project. The book really gets into business and politics as well as technical issues. The book points out that e-business is a program not a project. Commitment from the bottom of the organization is as important as upper management support. This is an important point that the book makes. Another thing--the book does not assume that you have an ERP. A company used the method that had an ERP and found it very useful, however. The book contains little of the "chain" and business model jargon--thankfully. As an example of common sense, the book suggests that you keep searching for the answer to the question "What is success?" This turns out to be critical in e-business since you gain a better understanding as you work your way through installing e-business. The examples and lessons learned in the book are of real use. They are detailed and specific. We have found that there are also good hints on how to manage vendors and consultants and what the roles of consultants and business departments should be. Overall, an excellent read.

excellent step by step approach for e-commerce
I must have purchased 10 different e-commerce books. Typically, they have concepts and buzzwords, but are short on how to implement e-commerce. This is one of the few books that really deal with putting in e-commerce. It gives excellent details about how to implement--from creating a strategy to expanding your site. A best buy.

Trixie Belden and the Red Trailer Mystery

Runaway Jim & a stolen red trailer
This book is the direct sequel to Trixie Belden and the Secret of the Mansion, which really must be read first. On the quest to find Jim -- on the lam from his evil stepfather Jonsey -- Trixie, Honey, and Miss Trask arrive in the Autoville trailer park, and the girls eventually find the dual mysteries of Jim's whereabouts and a stolen red trailer converging in one area of countryside.

The Red Trailer Mystery does get confusing and could have used a map, but the author summarizes the action periodically, and it sounds natural and helps develop the reader's comprehension and critical thinking.

I think this series gave me an appreciation in my adult life for the benefits of family, community, and enduring friendships.

great
l too loved these books and still have the whole set funny how these can be so much fun to read even after all these years....nope l dont wanta sell them....LOL

This was my very favorite Trixie book!
As a young girl (like seven years ago!), my mom pulled out a box from the attic when I showed an interest in reading. In the box were the first fifteen Trixie books. I have treasured them dearly. Number 2 is still my favorite! I have enjoyed reading and collecting the rest of the set. I have only 3 left to find! - Julie Major

Original and Full of Unexpected Twists
This was a spectacular find. I loved this novel and found it very hard to put down. There was no way for the reader to know which direction the novel was going to next as there was a new twist around every turn. The characters are very real, and never stray from the form the author has constructed for them.

The story line was also one of the most original I have read to date. Yes, this is set in the time of castles and magic, but you will be amazed at how different the story is from others in its genre. I wasn't dissapointed.

Careful about plot giveaway in previous review!!
Excellent book that I found years ago and have always remembered - simply and elegantly told, with a big huge "ah hah!" moment payoff that's just so much fun that I'm dismayed by a review below that gives it away. The review was written with all good intentions, I know, but trust me:

If you intend to read this book, don't read the review below entitled "One of My Favorite Books"!!

Definitely worth looking at.
This is one of my faves... anyone into fantasy should check it out... has some great plot twists.

thought provoking for the spirited soul ...
Since purchasing WISDOM'S CHOICE, I have had the opportunity to read it and read it again. Each time I was challenged to stop and think not only about Kathryn's words but how they might apply to my own life and spiritual world view. Since I am someone who is quite spiritual I did not have much trouble accepting her thoughts or even the fact that she believes they came to her from a higher power. What I enjoyed most was the breaking down of simple words such as disease (dis ease) and nothing (no thing)and the pages that are filled with food for thought. The book does not preach but rather suggests that you take your own interpretation on what you read. Gently written yet seems to pack a soulful spiritual punch. Size and style make for a nice gift book. If you enjoy thinking about what you have read then this is a must have book. Go a little deeper with WISDOM'S CHOICE!

Providing a series of spiritual messages
Shapiro's spiritual experience resulted in her production of a journal transcribing the thoughts that were reaching her from beyond. Wisdom's Choice contains the messages which she received in a 40 day period, providing a series of spiritual messages average readers will easily absorb.

THIS BOOK WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE
As a skeptic, I was hesitant to open Shapiro's book. But the words spoke to me and touched my heart in a way that I cannot express. Simple, elegent encouragement for this journey we call life! It's totally practical advice, too. Nothing out of the ordinary from this 'spiritual healer'. Thank you!

Kudos to Kathryn Tucker Wyndham
These books were a delightful part of my childhood, I grew up in southeast Alabama and visited many of the haunted sights (the hole that wouldn't stay filled, the grave of the dancing ghost, Huntington College, et al). I recall attending a "storytelling" by Mrs. Wyndham in the 1970's, never was it more fun to be so scared!!!

Kathryn Tucker Wyndham - A State Treasure
From time to time, someone appears in our lives who holds a special place in the culture of Alabama. Those of my generation have been blessed to have Kathryn Tucker Wyndham, a great Lady of the first order, and a true state treasure. It is perhaps fitting that one finds it near impossible to place Mrs. Wyndham in a niche. She is a historian, to be sure, but she is more than that, as is evidenced by "13 Alabama Ghosts And Jeffrey", as well as her numerous other works. Long popular in Alabama, "13 Alabama Ghosts" can be enjoyed by a broad spectrum of readers, both within and without Alabama. Her skills as a writer are equally matched by her rare talent as a raconteur. Mrs. Wyndham is one of the very few authors who makes herself so accessible to the public that she literally emobodies the written works she has produced. Anyone who has ever attended the annual "Pilgrimage" in Selma can attest to Mrs. Wyndham's abilities to hold an audience in rapt attention to her tales of ghosts and such. This book is a must for those interested in a taste of a unique slice of Alabama culture, by the foremost practioner of the art. Mrs. Wyndham has produced a delightful book, one which is a significant contribution to the body of works of Alabama history. Accordingly, this reviewer highly recommends this book - as well as all of Mrs. Wyndham's books - for readers of all ages and interests.

Long Lasting Impression
I first read 13 Alabama Ghosts as a elementary school student in Alabama. In the twenty years since then, I have re-read it numerous times. The stories stay with you and provide an interesting and alternative look at Alabama's history. Since the stories involve local ghosts or haunted places, it is possible to visit these locations yourself, which makes the book all the more interesting. I highly recommend this book to anyone with an interest in ghosts and Alabama history.

Its a "target game" dummie!
Your problems (and mine) are between your ears. That's why you have a death grip on the club. Before you spend another dime on equipment or lessons, spend $20 on this book and you'll get a plan to last a lifetime in this stupid game. You will enjoy, improve and understand. Tomasi rules!

Confidence
If you are a golfer, this book is a must read.

Great Mental Preparation
Don't buy this book if you're looking for golf swing mechanics. Do buy this book if you'd like help on your mental approach to the game. This is what separates good golfers from great golfers, inconsistency from consistency, and frustration from enjoyment.

A must-read for mothers struggling with breastfeeding
I don't know where the breastfeeding manuals get the information that "97% of women can breastfeed" because my experience and that of many I've talked to is that one can try awfully hard to exclusively breastfeed and still fail. With both of my children, I've had to pump, supplement, use a lactation consultant, and still had to use both bottle and breast. My first child ended up dehydrated at one point and both lost weight until interventions were started. I ended up with neither the convenience of breastfeeding nor the flexibility of bottle feeding. The harder one tries, the more deflating and discouraging it is when breastfeeding never completely clicks.

So this book is a welcome find for those of us that don't fit into the so-called "97%". Its stories are real life successes and failures in breastfeeding, rather than theoretical or idealized examples. The variety of stories is so great that most mothers would find at least one story that resonates with their own experience. They reflect the true intensity of establishing breastfeeding and the hardships of the newborn period. The only mothers who might not care about these stories are those that never had any intention of breastfeeding.

I met the authors at a book signing and they are neat ladies. One has decided not to have another child given her first experience. Her example is an illustration of how overwhelming the experience of breastfeeding can be when it goes wrong.

You won't need another breastfeeding book
I thought this book was absolutely fantastic. Even though it is not a "how-to" book, every situation and problem you could have breastfeeding is covered by one or more of the contributors. This book really helped me to continue with breastfeeding, even during the painful periods. I would highly recommend it. The only critique I have is that there are an awful lot of contributors from Decatur, Georgia (wherever that is!) - also the area where the authors are from. I would have liked to have at least seen more authors from different parts of the US.

wonderful variety of breastfeeding stories from real people
This is a great book to educate parents-to-be, reassure nursing parents, and allow parents of older children to wax nostalgic. Some are funny, some are intensly emotional, and others are quite practical and prosaic. Although many of the essays tell of the joys of successful breastfeeding, others describe the pain that often accompanies nursing and even the satisfaction of giving up for the bottle. The essay format is perfect for new mothers, you can actually finish something during naptime!

Tracking the Vanishing Frogs: An Ecological Mystery
Published in Paperback by Penguin USA (Paper) (1995)
Author: Kathryn Phillips
Amazon base price: $13.95
Used price: $4.75
Average review score:

Great book-highly recommended
This is a wonderful book which has covers the current issue of declining amphibian populations well in regards to the pet trade, habitat loss and fragmentation, and exotic species as well as specific species such as the golden toad and california's red-legged frog. Its an adventure as well as a source of information. The only reservation I had was that it didn't cover chemicals (pesticides) or frog deformities as issues towards species loss.

Scary and timely
This reads like a novel, but the subject is non-fiction: the disappearance of frogs from our planet, what it means, and what we must do about it. Recommended to all adults and thinking teen-agers who are interested in the planet.

Fantastic! Well researched and written!
This is a facinating and gripping tale about an animal that is simple, slimey, and generally not well thought of by humans. Our desensitivity to the legitimate role in our world of reptiles and amphibians (from the bible to the Sound of Music) has left them without an advocate when they need it most. Kathryn Phillips explains why their loss is anything but insignificant.

In the old days, coal miners would take a canary into the mines with them and listen to it sing all day. If the canary stopped singing and fell over dead, the miners didn't stop to wonder why or grieve its passing, they got the heck out of the mine as fast as they could. That was the very reason they took the canary in with them. Frogs are the canaries on this earth. But here on earth, we don't have the easy option of just getting the heck out of here as fast as we can. Kathryn Phillips tells you why with the power of a fiction writer but does it as only a professional journalist could with clarity, accuracy and completeness.
