Terrific Tub Toys
Tub Toys is truly a terrific book by Terry Miller Shannon and son, Timothy Warner. I was reminded of my own tub time toy experiences as a child while reading. This book is delightful, fun, bright, witty, and even silly. I think a few of my favorite touches were the jacket and the cover design being different from eachother, what a thoughtful touch. I also enjoyed the authors' play on words as the toy search escalates. I thought the Mom and Dad turning into ocean creatures was a fun twist. As if the child's imagination was completely submerged in the water.
As soon as this book arrived I sat down and read it to my daughter. She has dozens of books and brought this one to me three times in a row so that she could hear the rhyme and see the lively illustrations. She's young now, but will surely grow up loving this book. Even now, at 14 months, bath-time is her favorite time of day, she gets so excited about her rubber duckies and her bubbles. I know that she'll be able to relate to the young boy in the story as she grows.
Terry, Timothy, and Lee, you have all done a tremendous job with this one! I look forward to your next collaborations with great excitement and I thank you on my daughter's behalf for sharing your amazing talent for writing and illustrating with the world! Cheers!!!

Tons of toys - Yahoo!
When you tell your children to get ready for bath what do they do? Immediately they run into their room to find toys to play with in the water. The bath must be journey before they think it's fun. This is the issue in 'Tub Toys' - a cute and funny children's picture book co-written by Terry Miller Shannon and her son Timothy Warner.

The real 'star' in this book is Timothy Warner's son Liam who gave inspiration to the creation of this book. When the book arrived in the mail to me I showed it to my three year old daughter, and she LOVED it! The book is written in verses and has wonderful and funny illustrations done by Lee Calderon.

There is no limit of what the little boy in the book is taking with him in the tub. A bit sad about that he only has ONE bath duck; he takes revenge and throws all other animals in the tub, so his duck won't be lonely. How it all ends I won't tell you; but how do his parents handle this situation?

This book is the perfect gift for a young child. The illustrations are many and are the perfect affect for conversation with the child. I can tell you it was funny to see what my daughter got out of this book. It's a fiver!

I LOVED this book!
Terry Wolverton's Insurgent Muse is one of the most powerful, moving memoirs I have ever read. Once I started reading, I literally could not put the book down and stayed up way past my bedtime to finish it. Wolverton writes with insight, courage and humor about her own coming of age as an artist, her coming out as a lesbian, and her experiences with the Los Angeles Woman's Building, not only as an institution but as a vision of a creative, collaborative community of women. Anybody who is interested in the connections between art and politics, especially how artists get politicized and how political art gets made, should read this book. Though there's no happy ending to this story - in that the Woman's Building is no more - I found Insurgent Muse incredibly inspiring and an important reminder that art DOES matter and that sisterhood - however chimerical it sometimes seems - can indeed be powerful.

Extremely Important Book for Understanding Art and Feminism
A woman has to search high and low to find any book that comes close to Wolverton's Insurgent Muse when looking for a truly feminist history of women and art in this country. Wolverton takes the feminist discourse course by blending in her own story with very honest critique and appraisal of the influence of Los Angeles' Women's Building on helping women bridge the gender gap in visual and performing art. True to the notion that "the personal is political" Wolverton recounts her own journey from the Midwest and her own journey on her way to becoming a self-realized artist and person. I think some of her points along the way are very important and do blend with feminist literary criticism, for example, that the developing woman and the developing artist are most often one and the same, that these two stories cannot be separated out from a woman's personality.

Though, it must be said of Insurgent Muse, the best thing about it is just that it is a damn good read. Historical and feminist criticism, many times, can be so dry and theoretical (on purpose, you think. Maybe academics think they get brownie highbrow points for that.) that many women are discouraged from reading it. Wolverton's book blends theory, personal history, historical anecdote into something that is insightful, informative, and enjoyable!

Fascinating memoir!
What a pleasure to read. Wolverton weaves through the book personal history and her experiences at the Los Angeles Woman's Building to bring art history and feminism in LA to life. Wolverton easily evokes engaging images with just a few strokes of the pen.

grisham is gone
Great characters...I like people I can feel for - either love or hate. This book has some of the best characters I have run into in fiction. A few are completely outlandish, but somehow beliveable, nevertheless. Great bad guys, great heroes, and lots of grey area between on real humans - trying to to the right thing, it seems, but bogged down by life, ethics, conflicts, that kind of stuff. Anyway, this is a MUST READ.

Fun read!
I could not put this book down and finished it straight through. It kept me up all night. It was such an absorbing and fast-moving story. There were a couple of stops where I had to close my eyes. The descriptions of stuff is just too real! This is a really fun read.

This Book Will Move You
The most passionate and moving piece of fiction I have probably ever read. This is chock full of political intrigue and full of amazing detail on politics and every other subject under the sun...takes you away like Clancy...but better prose and style than Clancy. More important, Terry captures the reader's mind with his exploration of motivation, character, morals and integrity as they work in both the common man and in our nation's leaders. Do not miss an opportunity to read this book!

About the human spirit, loving freedom, life and each other.
"The Writings on the Wall" by Terry Tillman is my favorite Cold War book. I had the pleasure of becoming acquainted with the author shortly after the book was published and learned that his book is more than just historical - it is about the universal human spirit of loving freedon, life and each other. I commend the book to anyone interested in enhancing international understanding and world peace.

Great gift item!
The book The Writings on the Wall" by Terry Tillman was purchased in multiple quantity, and given to co-workers and friends. All enjoyed the "story" being told, AND shared by the writer. I highly recommend it.

... it captures the essence of the times and the humanness.
"The Writings on the Wall" by Terry Tillman is without a doubt my favorite book on the Cold War and the breaking down of the Berlin Wall. In graphic pictures and quotes it captures the essence of the times and the humanness of what was going on, not just a factual account.

The Blood Remembers
The author succeeds in spanning 800 years as she tells the story of Rose, a jewelry designer who lives in Santa Monica, and Rosamonde, a medieval woman who has been sent to Sicily to be a surrogate mother in ther court of King William of Sicily. I don't want to tell too much more to spoil the story for any one reading this review. The author is like the magician, Michael Scot, a character in the book, as she tells Rose Kirkland's tale-part quest, part mystery, part romance. I also learned a lot about the history of the Normans and their conquest of southern Italy and Sicily. I was sorry when I arrived at the last page of this rich and satisfying novel.

A facinating quest
Anyone who loves history and romance (in the most sophisticated sense of the word) must read this book. I didn't know what to expect when I ordered it: I was attracted by the cover, first of all, and by the intriguing title; and I must admit I wanted a fantasy that would remove me from the turmoil of our post Sept. 11th world. I was not disappointed. The tapestry-like story that unfolds within the pages of THE BLOOD REMEMBERS is simply marvelous: a brilliant, at times even searing, evocation of a little known era of medieval history -- Sicily in the 13th century --- intertwined with a modern day quest. At times, I had the chilling feeling that the author had actually KNOWN the emperors and Norman knights whom she so powerfully evokes. This would be enough: but the author also manages to create an endearing heroine, Rose Kirkland, as well -- a woman who is most definitely of our time. I can't recommend this book enough.

haunting time travel tale
In Santa Monica, California, Rose Kirkland feels she has lost the essence of being herself. Instead life is fulfilled through her relationship with others such as being the wife of Matthew or through her work as a jewelry designer. Even her greatest desire of having a child adds to her lost identity, as she knows she would become the mother of that infant. Alas, a saddened Rose cannot claim that identity as she fails to become pregnant. In her even deeper melancholy, Rose hears a medieval voice and begins having out of body experiences that display to her the posh inside of castles.

Rose obsesses over what is happening to her and travels to Europe on a quest to silence the inner voice haunting her. From Oxford to Italy and finally to Normandy where in Pirou Castle, Rose recognizes the place but not in a Déjà vu sense, but as if she once lived there. For here the past and present converge, but only time will tell whether this proves the salvation or damnation for the "visiting" American.

THE BLOOD REMEMBERS is a haunting time travel tale that is so rich with interwoven historical tidbits, readers will believe the author is writing an autobiographical fiction novel. The story line is loaded with action yet the key player Rose is a multifaceted individual struggling with her life and the intrusion of the voice. Readers will remember Terry Stanfill's deep tale because Rose haunts the audience by getting into your blood.

This is a must read for all church members!!
This book was, and continues to be a very important part of my ministry, it helped me discover who I am in Christ with relation to the Man Of God that I've been called along side to serve under. We all need to realize that God is building His church, and that He has given the church all it needs to be powerful, and accomplish all that He desires. Pastors/Leaders are a gift from God, and must be treated as such. This book is very dynamic, honest, and very well written. It is very easy to understand and does an excellent job in portraying the truths of God's Word.

We are all called to be Armor Bearers
All of the reviews are correct. This is an awesome book, as is Armor Bearers II. Our entire church participated in bible studies on these two books. All Christians are called to be Armor Bearers, not just the leaders. Our leaders need our support. We need to be a help, not a drain. Read the building of the wall in Nehemiah. We are all called to build our part of the wall with a sword in one hand and a tool in the other. And while we build, we need to stand firm with our leaders.

1 Peter 4:10
This book is a MUST READ for anyone called to the ministry. You must first learn how to be a servant before you can become a leader. Terry Nance tells us from his own personal experiences, how and why we should serve the leaders and shepherds that God has called us to serve under. Ministry Leaders cannot do every single thing in the church, that is why it is your job to step up to the plate and get off from warming the bench and stop watching everyone else play the game. We as servants must help fulfill the God given vision given to our Apostle or Pastor and God will ensure that our own visions and dreams come to pass. We must bloom where we are planted and be willing to submit not only to God, but also to the leaders He has set over us.

1 Peter 4:10 sums it up plainly: "Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms." - 1 Peter 4:10 NIV

For many years...
For many years I have been planning on getting around to reading the "Secret of the Ruby Ring" I always forgot to order it, or buy it. When I finally bought it over the holidays, I eagerly opened it and from the first word to the last I was not only thoroughly satisfied, but I also knew it was worth the wait. I felt disgusted at first with the young protagonist named Lucy, but as the book commenced, and Lucy began to understand her life and the history of her country a bit more fully, I was in awe of her. I would never think to do things she knew automatically, yet I would have done things she didn't think of as quickly before she did them. I found myself connected to the characters, who in the beginning I had loathed, and I myself had more of an appreciation for not only MY life, but for those who lived in a time in Ireland that history books in the U.S. shallowly mention. A good book for anyone who loves to learn about history without learning directly, loves novels, or just thinks it sounds magical and exciting. It lives up to every readers expectations and more!

One of the best books I ever read!!!!!
I am a 9 year old girl (named Morgan) starting 4th grade. I liked this book because its about a girl going back in time and she meets a lot of friends, especially the children who live in the castle in Ireland. Its an exciting book and was hard to put down. After a few chapters, I wanted to read the whole thing. I also learned about life in the 1800s.

A great read!
This is a wonderful story. It was a little slow to get into, but after the second chapter I found it hard to put down. (I also read Emma and the Magic Ring.)I highly recommend this book.

The Ultimate Pool Maintenance Manual

Great for handyman pool owners, not just those in the trade
I'm not in the pool maintenance trade but I've owned and maintained a pool, built two fish ponds and am currently having a pool, spa and koi pond built. Being an engineer by education, I was thirsting for in-depth information and wasn't disappointed. My pool plaster will be black and I was especially interested in Tamminen's very detailed opinions on the controversial topic of pool start-up after plastering and how to avoid mottling from plaster dust (a BIG problem with colored plaster.) But there's a wealth of other tips as well. For instance, I'm installing a sand filter, despite claims that it can't filter particles as small as those trapped by a DE filter, based on the comparative information in this book. A sand filter promises relatively low maintenance and my dark bottom doesn't require the same high clarity as a white plaster pool.

I might have liked more info on the hazards of installing rocks in the water on a notched bond beam, under-edge fiber optic pool lights and ways to hide pool tiles. But those would more appropriately be in a book dedicated to pool design and construction rather than pool maintenance. Also, the discussion of fish pond design and maintenance was a bit too rudimentary to be of much value, although, like the rest of the book, the author wasn't shy about stating his opinions strongly. I liked that.

All in all, this is a treasure trove of very practical information that should really prove its worth after my pool is completed....

Everything you want to know about pool maintenance
In Arizona, pool care is a common teenage chore, just like snow shoveling in more northerly areas, so I'd had some pool experience when I moved into a house of my own. (Thanks, Dad.) This book will tell you everything there is to know about pool care. Other homeowners have complained that there's too much information, but I think the information is presented in such a way that you can skip the gory details. The author mentions that the chapter on water chemistry is optional, for example, but if you want details, they're there.

After we moved in, we had some out-of-town friends stay with us, and being from Chicago, they were curious about owning a pool. They were even more surprised when I could answer every question, from the workings of pool filters to pool chemistry -- I told them it was all in the book.

This book is about maintenance as well, and not just the theory of it. With this book on top of the pool heater (don't worry, the heater was off), I stripped my DE filter all the way down to the piping and cleaned it from top to bottom. If you want to know about pools, this is the book. You also get a different perspective on movie and sports stars -- you see them form their pools, as with the description of John McEnroe's pool filter. While not exactly cocktail party chatter, it does liven up the presentation.

not for beginners!
Very detailed book on pools with US measurments. Not a guide on how to take care of your pool, but more of a deeper look at pools. From chemistry to construction, etc. Having this book at the pool store where I work at is very handy.
