An Awesome Birthday Present
I bought this book for my brother and he loved it. Any sports fan will love it.

Written by a Fan for Fans!
Terry Pruyne is a fan of sports; there's no doubt about it. What an amazing collection of nicknames. The effort that went into this project is outstanding. A great coffee table book that leads to many sports conversations and debates with friends and sports foes. As a sports reference book, I highly recommend this to professionals and fans alike. The nickname, in both society and sports, is very important to understanding the trends and values of an era. This book holds the keys to so many unanswered sports questions. It is both easy to read and well organized. This is a must for any sports fan and sports trivia buff. I look forward to the next edition-if indeed there is one. Nice job Mr. Pruyne or should I say Mr. Nickmane.

Great Book
I bought the book for my father and he loved it. He couldn't believe the information the book contains. I see him leafing through it all the time.

A strong two thumbs up
Still with Me is a wonderful read, beautifully written and warmly delivered. It is universal in its message and will touch anyone who has lost a parent. I began reading the book in a restaurant as I dined alone; but became somewhat self-conscious as I cried almost as many times as I laughed, and sometimes that happened on the same page. This book promises to be not only a best seller but would make a splendid movie.

Still With Me
I felt as though I was in the same room with Andrea King Collier listening to her tell this story. It is a true account of the roller coaster of emotions that accompany caring for an ill parent. The book demonstrates the importance of preventative health care and the reasons to advocate for one's own health. It is fortunate that Andrea had the support of her husband, the distraction of two young children, the strength to care for her mother, and a sense of humor to help make it through even the darkest of days. This book is a tribute and an inspiration to all women.

Still With Me - a must read!
I was so moved and so utterly totally shaken by this book that I have been crying though the reading, my nose running and my chest tight. Now I am just raw with my grief. This book isn't so much about Ms Collier's mother as it is about all our mothers.
I am one of those daughter's who has taken on the care of an elderly parent. My mother is still living and I have been her "assisted care" for several years. In the years since my mother suffered a debillitating stroke I have struggled with the varying feelings of helplessness, inadequacy, andger, resentment - all of those and more.
This book is a gift to all of the daughters, all of the caregivers. It gave me permission to cry, to let it all out.
Beyond a clearly superior ability to write - the author posesses an indefinable quality that allows her to dip into universal truths and make them personal and immediate. "Unflinching" as one review characterizes it, does not even come close.

such a nice story...
finally a book I could read in one night and feel good about the whole next day. Actually, I find myself thinking about all of the characters, especially Angelo. I don't know what it was about story, but in the end it all made sense. Like, three cheers for love and life and pink floyd!

it's romantic and simple and touched my heart again and again. I'm probably going to read it again tonight.

not the typical book I usually read but am I glad I did.
Seriously, I read this book because a friend gave it to me. At first it was going to be one of those books I'd give a four page try and then probably toss into my closet. But once I got into it, I couldn't put it down. I was more than pleasantly surprised.

I'm still trying to figure out what I liked best about the book. It's really weird how I can't explain it. I think the only thing that I can say is that there is something about this story that was magic. There were certain lines of dialogue I know I'll never forget. And the moon, I don't think I'll ever look at it quite the same way anymore.

I'd recommend this book to anyone who is looking to be "moved" . This book has changed my life. Gosh I feel like I'm being so cliche(sp.) by saying these things but sincerely, While The Moon Looked Up To Heaven was a pure JOY and so romantic.

A magical work displaying the destiny of love.
The journey that one goes through while reading this book is one of hope and courage. I was reminded of the power of love and fate. If one listens to the whispers of their heart they will find the love that was destined to be. As always, I was utterly enthraled.

Angel's Fire

Unusual Partners
Though Jake Rivers and his dog/partner, Dancer, appear in their first novel in Terry Fain's ANGEL'S FIRE, devoted mystery fans know them through short stories. In this mystery/thriller, Dancer and Rivers, a former fireman turned detective after finding himself traumatized by fire, confront a pyromaniac.

Besides exciting, dramatic scenes, Fain's excellent characterization and understanding of both man and beast, intrigue me. I'm eargerly waiting to read more about Jake and Dancer.

A Terrific First Mystery
Terry Fain's debut novel, Angel's Fire, introduces Los Angeles PI Jake Rivers, a former firefighter with one of the most appealing sidekicks in crime fiction. Dancer is half Doberman and half German Shepherd, with sufficient charm to entice a former K-9 officer for LAPD to help Jake in his search for a missing Latino teenager. Since this is L.A., nothing is quite what it seems, and as Jake sorts out conflicting information, somebody keeps setting fires that force him to confront his own personal demons. Terry Fain exhibits a wonderful sense of the contradictions and possibilities of Los Angeles in this terrific first mystery.

Fire Lover's Delight
If you have a fascination with the mental machinations of pyromaniacs or an appreciation for the special relationship a person can have with a dog, "Angel's Fire" is the book for you. Set in the barrio of Los Angeles, it's a top-notch mystery that, like its hero Jake Rivers, doesn't stop until it gets its man. "Angel's Fire" is a journey through the mind of Jake Rivers, an ex-firefighter turned private investigator, who is lured by a beautiful and mysterious woman into solving the disappearance of her younger brother, Angel Cordoba. Jake has company on his journey in the character of his devoted canine partner, Dancer. Together they confront drug lords and gang members in their search for Angel. In his pursuit of the answer to why the troubled youth disappeared, and much to his chagrin, Jake must face his own demons, which have haunted him since he was caught inside a building during an especially destructive fire. You'll be memsmerized as Jake removes layer after layer of obfuscation to lay bare the truth behind both Angel's disappearance and the painful reality of his own personal fire-based trauma. "Angel's Fire" was a delight from the heart-stopping beginning to the surprise ending. The main character, Jake Rivers, is fully developed and engaging, and the plot winds its way mysteriously through the book much as Jake must take circuitous routes through the barrio of Los Angeles en route to solving not only the disappearance of Angel Cordoba but also the problems behind his own personal nightmare. I highly recommend "Angel's Fire" to both the mystery afficionado and the first time mystery reader. It's a great introduction to the genre. I'm sure that, as happened to me, from the moment you start reading it, you won't want to put it down.

Barber-Osophy: Shear Success for Your Cutting Edge

Barberosophy cuts to the root of personal enhancement.
This book is full of funny short anecdotes with lessons to be learned. It is highly recommended for the person on the go. And who's not? The stories are light and breezy, only 2 to 3 pages in length, so if need be, one can put the book down but it won't be by choice.

A common sense approach to life and business
Mr. Sumerlin's common sense approach to life's problems is a breath of fresh air. One would think that the neighborly, value driven "Barber-osophies" defined by Mr. Summerlin would be a naturally occurring thing, but everyday interaction with people and buisnesses show that they are not. Mr. Summerlin shows show practicing such credos can lead to a happy and productive life.

This book is a refreshing look at the world in which we live
The philosophy behind Barberosophy is that, with keen observation, extraordinary life lessons can be learned from everyday settings and ordinary people. The author takes an opportunity to draw principles of human relations, happiness, and success from daily encounters in his barbershop. Because this book is formatted into short vignettes, I found the stories and lessons to be accessible, and the book hard to put down! The author writes with an easy, down-to-earth style and a wit as intellegent as it is funny. I highly recommend this book for anyone who's become bored with the standard self-improvement niche books- but would appreciate a perceptive insight on human nature.

Lavish "trek" into the making of a television series
With print and pictures detailing EVERY inch of the making of three Trek productions, this is a book that is a treasure for any student of filmmaking. One does not have to be an aficionado of the offspring of the original series to appreciate the work that went into the publication of this book.

The book is a fascinating (to use Spock's word) how-to-make-a-television episode (or movie scene) primer.

More pictures than you can point a phaser at!
Provides an in-depth and fascinating account into how Star Trek productions are conceived, filmed and produced. The book showsthe transition from initial idea to final product in 3 Star Trek guises - DS9, Voyager and the film Insurrection. The book is jam-packed with pictures throughout and Erdmann's dialogue is very much narrative in style, as the story is told for much of the book in the quotes of various cast and crew. The book particularly highlights how stories are formed and the various inputs from script writers, producers, directors and cast, and it is fascinating to see how a story develops and changes throughout time. An extremely good read.

The ultimate behind-the-scenes experience
From the first writers' meeting to the satellite upload, this book describes in detail every step taken by actors, producers, designers, directors and editors to create an episode of Star Trek. Terry J. Erdmann has had unprecedented access to production meetings, film sets and post-production facilities to unveil how various Star Trek incarnations get from idea to (small of big) screen. If you're interested in what's going on behind-the-scenes, I highly recommend this title.

A beautiful and useful book!
I just got the Tarot Spellcaster and am really enjoying it. First, it is a delight to look at, packed with full-color glossy and very detailed photographs. The paper is nice and thick, and the book is well organized, with a section in the front categorizing all the spells following which is nice, you don't have to search, and it has a good index in the back. It also has some astrological tables and other helpful tools, but I cannot vouch if they are fully accurate or not as another reviewer suggested. The hardcover format is nice so you can lay down the book and follow along if you wish.

As for the content, it is pleasant to read; not "dumbed down" so more experienced users will be bored, yet not to complicated for beginners. The spells are practical, varied, laid out and explained well without a lot of jargon or unecessary verbage. I've been working with the Tarot and magick for a few years and this is a welcome and useful addition to my library. I found many spells I wanted to use right away, and all of them in the book can be used for various purposes depending on your needs, i.e., a "love" spell in here could be used for attracting a soul mate, a lover, enhancing a current situation, or bring you the love or relationship you desire while not specifically naming anyone. I really liked the flexibility in the spells and the topics selected.

I think the comments some other reviewrs made regarding the items that seem to be missing or not described in the layouts are simply items that were put into the photographs to enhance them, such as herbs and incense, and/or perhaps are suggestions of what you can add to or substitute for the spells (as the author says in one section, if you cannot find the oil he recommends you can use the herb or a similar scent). I tend to use herbs and incense a lot so I would naturally add those with these spells also. I think that may be what the pictures were trying to get across, or at least to me :-) But as another reviewer said, I also would not consecrate my cards with any type of oil as the author suggested, but would use incense or sunlight instead.

Overall, I really enjoy this book! I think it is a worthwhile investment and a nice addition to the slim pickings out there on Tarot magick, and think you will enjoy it too.

Visually and spiritually appealing...
This is a lushly-illustrated and inspiring book for those of us who are looking for rituals to add to our spiritual lives, but who are not necessarily interested in the more obscure aspects of Tarot and Magick which are presented by some books.
I am not sure if I received a mis-printed copy of this book, however, because one of the charts and a couple of the pages have astrological symbols either associated with the wrong name, or it is the wrong symbol entirely. I also noticed that a few of the photo-illustrations have missing objects (i.e., candle, paintbrush, etc.), or some object pictured which is not explained in the text.
Despite these faux pas, the author provides simple but substantial instructions for many spells (which makes it very easy to fill-in-the-missing-blanks noted above).
This book can help you give yourself the gift of enhanced magic in your life.

Beautiful!
This book is a very worthy follow-up to the wonderful book by Janina Renee. Terry Donaldson has created a visually stunning and thought provoking journey through the Tarot. The book differs from Ms. Renee's in the way the spells and rituals are arranged. After preliminary discussions on magic, preparation, and correspondences, the Major Arcana are presented--each card with it's own beautiful spell and photograph of the altar arangement. Each spell is described thoroughly, from intention, to materials used, to procedure, to meditations. There is also a section of spells using multiple cards. I especially appreciate the very poetic meditations which find the heart of each intention, and are oriented toward serving humanity and spiritual growth. The book is perfect for beginners, but I've read Tarot for nearly twenty years and I've gained much insight from this book. If you love "Tarot Spells" by Janina Renee like I do--you'll feel the same about "Tarot Spellcaster."

Taxes and Business Strategy: A Planning Approach (2nd Edition)

A good text
Excerpts of the text are used in the Taxes and Business Strategy course at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. Scholes and Wolfson have provided an excellent, multi-perspective framework for thinking about tax issues and how taxes can impact the value of a transaction. Unfortunately, S&W have been making too much money in the private sector to update this book so some of the details in the book regarding tax laws are dated.

Solid treatment of material
We used this book as the text for a masters level course in our masters of accouting program. Students responded well and appeared to enjoy the book. They found the treatment of the material to be at an apporpriate level, and they rated the book a five on a five point anonymous rating. The only suggestion they proferred was for some companion piece covering a few of the more currently used planning techniques.

Great Text For a Complex Subject
As another reviewer states, the material for this book was used in the Taxes & Business Strategy class at both the University of Chicago and Stanford's business schools. Compared to other texts on this subject, it is actually readable and, more importantly, understandable to a non-tax professional. The are an abundance of examples that you can apply directly to situations which arise in real world situations. The 2nd edition has been updated to reflect most recent changes in the tax law.

The book is a must for anybody in investment banking, law, private equity, and other fields where a tax plays a large role in determining the outcome and structure of deals, compensation, etc.

Excellent - met Terry from Ms. Olson, the blonde at Shadle
This probably won't go anywhere but I met you Terry when I was a Junior, wrestling for Shadle Park. I was at North Central High at a wrestling match when Ms. Olson came up and introduced you to myself and my good friend Brett. You told us about wrestling at Shadle, with I believe Lyle Pugh as your coach. Anyway if this makes it to you that will be great. I'm now 34 and still remember meeting you and I've watched your movie more than once. Thanks for putting "Shadle" on the map. DJ_Anderson@battelle.org

Much better than the movie
Seventeen years ago, as a junior going through a rather undistinguished high school wrestling career and frustrating first relationship with a member of the opposite sex, this book really hit home with me. The story was much more complex than the movie, as were the characters. It was about more than wrestling, it was about the insecurities, fears and hang-ups of a young man trying to find his place in the world. It wasn't just about Loudon's relationships with Carla and Kuch, it was about his whole world. His family, his friends, his teachers. It's a cliche, but it's true. It made me laugh and it made me cry. It still does.

Go on a Vision Quest and find your place in the circle.
I wrestled in high school, and saw this movie before I read the book. I was nowhere near a state champ, but this story inspired me to do more and work harder than I ever have in my life. It is about goal setting, and dreaming big dreams. Trust me, if you haven't read this DO!!! It is one of the most inspirational books I have ever read, and one of the most quotable as well. It celebrates the triumph of the human spirit. We all have our own Shute to get on the mat with, in all walks of life. You will be inspired by Terry Davis, and the story of a young man who is looking to find his place in the circle. "Ready gentlemen? Let's wrestle!"

A fresh look at nature
Goldsworthy's art isn't what he makes. It's what he does to things that are already there to make them fresh and beautiful to the jaded eye of an average human. Simple things work best in his art, evoke more raw emotion and longing: he lines tree branches with dandelions and red maple leaves; he hangs large snowballs in trees; ribbons of leaves trail off into the water and spiral icicles circle tree trunks. It's all so simple and captivating, it's really quite astounding. Goldsworthy's art is fleeting. The only reminders of his non-permanent works are photographs. In Wood, Goldsworthy goes beyond the confines of this material and shows us his mastery with the entire spectrum of natural media - snow, ice, rock, leaf, etc. The book is subdivided into sections dealing with each specific medium, the last being Tree - each work is centered around a low-lying branch of a large oak. Nevertheless, I must say that this collection of Goldsworthy's art is slightly inferior to his Collaborations with Nature, which is a better first choice if you are unfamiliar with his principles.

Wood Highly Recommend
It's a big and invigorating book. If you like earth art this book (and there are others) offers some of the best of Goldsworthy. The concepts and execution are as inventive as they are cerebral. While I've never seen his work in person the photos and narrative of this book really feel like they capture the detail. In other ways the book itself is as well presented and printed as any book of art I've seen. If you can't afford it (it was expensive for me) try and get your local library to invest. It would be a great contribution to your local enclave.

A teen's point of view
This book is so cool! I studied about Andy Goldsworthy for Art, and he is my fav artist. What he does is different and is not boring. When you look at his art it makes you think. They look so beautiful and peacful.
