I have seen a lot of cartoon collections in my time, but this is without doubt the funniest and cleverist I have ever seen. This sadly underrated book is pure genius!! A must-have!!

With this book, Segwick displays a creative GENIUS that is all too lacking in the post-Larson cartoon era. This collection of cartoons shows that Segwick is definitely in Gary Larson's league, in terms of creative, artistic and humorous brilliance. A brilliantly funny and creative book. A must-have!!

First Place is an absolutely awesome program, offering a balanced and spiritual approach to health and weight loss.

In the kit you will find a Member's Guide, which contains the essential information about the program, food and exercise plan, etc. There are also four motivating cassette tapes, 13 weekly commitment records, a neat little spiral bound Bible verse memorization book, and a journal in which to write your prayers.

The essence of this Christ-centered program is captured in nine basic commitments. These commitments include daily prayer, Bible study (using one of the First Place Bible Studies, such as "Life Under Control" or "Giving Christ First Place"), the memorization of one Bible verse/week, and daily Scripture reading--so it would be best to plan on setting aside some quiet time each day. Other commitments include a well-balanced food plan (similar to the diabetic or old Weight Watchers exchange program), regular exercise, and keeping a Commitment Record of your progress in all of these areas.

What makes the program work, though, is not the well-planned and reasonably priced materials. It's the fact that setting aside quiet time in this too-busy world to be alone with God will improve your life immeasurably. As you draw closer to Him, you will find that you develop and practice both self-discipline and gentleness with yourself.

I can attest to the fact that there are wonderful people on these boards, willing to support and encourage your efforts, and even to pray for you. ... It has been less than 2 months since I first became acquainted with this program. I'm so impressed with the program that I'm planning on starting a local group shortly. My life has changed so much for the better in a very short time. A modest weight loss is just one of many blessings that have come my way.

When I joined first place, I mainly joined just wanting to loose weight. We are starting are third session now and the Lord has really worked in my heart and mind with scripture memorization and bible study reading verses, has all helped me more spiriturally. You need all four things in your life to be balanced, physical, emotional, spiritual and mental. With this you will see a lose in weight and a gain in understanding and feeling good with excercise. I am in this to be balanced and to grow. So far I have lost weight and still have more to go. Praise the Lord for First Place!

I found that this program was a great way to loose weight. If you want to loose weight and are a Christian, this plan is for you. You will love the bible study and will feel great about yourself.

After reading Mr. Grosz' first book, Wildlife Wars, I couldn't wait to get his next one. For Love of Wildness exceeded my expectations and now I am looking forward to reading his new book.

The main reason I found it so enjoyable is because the passion with which the Mr. Grosz conducted himself while carrying out his profession comes through in his writing. I felt like I was right beside him during his adventures.

For a busy person, it is an easy book to read because each chapter is independent of the others and can be read as time permits. The problem is you want to keep reading.

When I completed this book, I was sorry I that was finished.

Terry Grosz was a conservation officer for the California and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for more than thirty years. His first memoir, Wildlife Wars, covered his early life. For Love Of Wilderness: The Journal Of A U.S. Game Management Agent begins with his move from the state to the federal levels, where his cases were bigger and more complex. Grosz's stories are as infused with his love of wildlife and enjoyment of the great outdoors as they are action- packed and totally engaging. In these memoirs Grosz makes a repeated point that our failure to protect our fragile natural resources is the same as stealing from our children, and our children's children. For Love Of Wilderness is a superbly presented, candid and engaging autobiography that will also have immense appeal to anyone with an interest in wildlife and conservation issues.

After reading Wildlife Wars, I wondered if Terry Grosz could keep up the pace with a new set of memories and fascinating law enforcement experiences. Not to worry. For Love of Wildness takes you into a world almost never visited by even those of us who love the outdoors. Seldom does one who possesses a depth of knowledge in one field of endeavor, rise to be able to chronicle that knowledge and experience in an entertaining and compelling manner. I've not seen the movie yet, but I wanted to read the bok anyway. I loved it. I can't wait to go see the film this weekend!

Also, this is the second movie novelization I've read by Terry Bisson. I believe Bisson also wrote the novelization for The Fifth Element. I really must check out Bisson's work unrelated to film. I heartily recommend this bok.

My Family loved Galaxy Quest ... It was so funny on so many levels... Great writers and a Outstanding cast....

Terry Hamburg'sGrand Entrances is an informative and compelling survey of attractive, artistic retail storefronts in San Francisco provides a closeup color portrait of some of the city's most colorful creations. Over eight color illustrations and photos capture everything from signage to murals and exceptional presentations. Art and architecture schools with sections on commercial art will find this a 'must'.

This book has heart and soul. The imagination and humor these storeowners and artists display is amazing! I especially appreciated the captions which tell the story of each storefront. The details are unexpected and funny. I also liked the Introduction which gives a great history of how San Francisco came to have so many "grand entrances." I know which book I will be giving to friends and family this holiday season!

Grand Entrances opens the door to the whimsy that is in the heart of San Francisco. The superb photographs capture the spirit of the artists, the shopkeepers who proudly display the creations, and the climate of the people who live in the area. This book rather reminded me of the children's book about the man who painted his house purple in a neighborhood where all the houses looked alike. However, in this case, everyone painted his or her storefront with wild imagination. Indeed, looking at the photos and reading the background about this era, I wondered if people at that time appreciated the beauty and creativity of the times. Personally, I savored the diversity of San Francisco. San Francisco encompasses all kinds of spirits, and this book captures that unique strength. Grand Entrances was fun!

It is too bad that this book has been out of print, it is one of the most entertaining children's book I've ever read. My children think so too. Just a great original story with a wonderful message. Also it introduces your child to the not often thought of tapir. Do you know what a tapir is? Read this story then head to the zoo; you'll be looking for them!

This is a very entertaining children's book. It is about little creatures who wear animal suits in a zoo so that visitors can look at them. The newest member is not happy being stuck with the tapir suit at first, he wants to be anything else. The book is well-written and holds the attention of even very young listeners. This is a book that parents won't mind reading a 100 times, and believe me, this will happen. It is fully illustrated with beautiful color pictures that children will enjoy. Every child should have a copy of this book!

I had not heard of this book until Terry Crist came to speak at our church. His writing style is as lively and personable as he is in person. This book is a real eye-opener as to WHO you really are if you have accepted the Lord. I've read "Search for Significance" and ended up feeling worse about myself than ever! This book gives new life, new hope and a fresh outlook. There is nothing made up, nothing fancy. Just a reality-based look at what the Word of God says about you, the believer, and who you are in Christ Jesus. You won't regret the money spent on this one. The Image Maker is BURSTING with life and revelation! As I read each chapter I am amazed at the insight and revelation, it has blessed me beyond belief. After I read a chapter one day God supernaturally showed up and showed me who I am. I used to see myself as a puaper and He showed me that I am royalty, and heir to the kingdom of God. I am the HIGHEST King of all kings daughter! I started prophesying to some circumstances in my life and declaring breakthrough. My faith level rose. In a matter of two days I got the breakthrough I was fighting for! Thank you SOOO much for your labors. There continues to be a real need for good books that show us the Biblical alternative to the humanistic self-esteem movement. Crist's book provides just that. He makes a very important and helpful distinction between self-esteem and self-worth, contending that our value as human beings does not actually come from our "selves" but is rooted in the fact that God has created us to be His image-bearers. The book clearly shows us that understanding our God-given identity is the key to living free from soul-marring addictions and dependencies, and going on to fulfill a God-given destiny. If you want to build "a good foundation for the future, so that you may take hold of that which is life indeed", this well-written, theologically precise book will be a very helpful tool.

I had seen this title around for years & avoided buying it because it looked a bit too "touchy-feely". I also assumed that it contained the redundant, & often abstract, philosophy found in many books & articles on Aikido these days. I am so glad that I gave it a chance, beacause this is truly one of the great martial arts books of our time.

Terry Dobson's stories and statements are interesting, insightful, intelligent, amusing, and MEANINGFUL. The book conveys some sophisticated ideas in autobigographical stories that the reader immediately relates to. Then it reminds us that some of the best & most insightful ideas are really the simplest. The philosophical quotes from the founder of Aikido that begin each chapter are amazingly appropriate given the very "down to earth" nature of the stories, and the fact that most of the book was assembled by an editor who combined Dobson's stories after his death - ie. they were probably not designed to fit nicely under a particular quote.

The text combines with the great photos to create an incredible reading experience. Anyone interested getting more out of the martial arts than physical technique should read this book.

The book is about life, truth, and the contradictions in both. All this & you can probably read it in about an hour !

This book does a wonderful job of capturing the comprehensive impact that the practice of Aikido can have on your whole life. The black and white photography seems to twirl off the page with breath taking beauty.

It is amazing how brilliantly the photographs have been matched with the stories. The photographs are mesmerizing, the stories compelling. This would be a wonderful addition to any library.

If only I had this book when I went to college! I recently bought "Life During College" for my nephew on his way to the Big U. Of course, I read it first, and was impressed by the book's thoroughness. I'd recommend this book for parents sending kids off to college and to those same kids going to school sans mom and dad.

Before buying your first book from the campus bookstore, be sure to pick up this valuable reference! This is a well-written, sensible, and easy to follow guide which incidentally helps students become more responsible with credit and money.

Universally, I appreciated the fact that it addressed scheduling concerns, leases, as well as aspects of campus social life. As a student entering graduate school, this book will undeniably carryover and prove to be a great resource.

I got hold of a copy of this book and sure wish I would have had something like this during college. Life would have been much easier. I'm definitely going to get it for my high school senior as he prepares to head off to school. I know the useful stuff in it will help him out.

I read this book in a time where I was desperate to get some results in my job. I am in sales and it was going terribly wrong. One day, I walked into the bookstore and "happened" to find this book. This is a truly inpirational book. i have not have a lonely day since, my life has changed and everyday I thank God for the gift of my guardian angels and all angels working on our behalf. I have given this book to my friends and family that need spirutal lifts in their lives.
