Another Big Hit By The Master!
Terry Stickels ALWAYS makes his puzzles fun, while still educational, and the variety of types of puzzles, and varying levels of difficulty in the problems make certain than everyone will find something worthwhile within the pages of his books.

What you get in this tome: 150 excellent puzzles that I will look back over many times in the coming years. Also look on Amazon for Terry's other puzzles books, calendars and (if/when Amazon starts to sell them) his top notch Knowledge Cards, of which there are now many decks.

BRAVO!
Im the author of "Thinkertoys (A Handbook of Business Creativity)," "ThinkPak (A Braintstorming Card Deck)," and "Cracking Creativity (The Secrets of Creative Genius"), and, generally read everything on the market that relates to creative and critical thinking. I've become a big fan of Terry Stickels and his puzzles books, cards, and calendars. This book is another superb collection of fresh and original puzzles. Bravo, Terry, for another superb collection.

Terry Stickels - THE PUZZLEMASTER OF THE NEW MILLENIUM
More, more, more!!! It doesn't get any better than this. Stickels has lapped the field with his unbelievable creative genius. Just when you thought all puzzle books were going to the same repeats of old, classic brainteasers, Stickels lights up the scoreboard with an approach that would make Martin Gardner, Will Shortz and even Richard Feynman jump for joy. A recent review in a major newspaper called his work the most innovative thing to happen to thinking skills in a very long time. Please carry ALL of his works. You won't be disappointed!!!!

my favorite photo book of the Missions....
....and written with a lively and moving commentary. Well worthy the money and very informative, each chapter giving a brief history of a particular Mission, some personal reactions, and of course the photographs. The author went out of his way to eliminate contemporary influences like cars and planes and streets; the reader gets a feel for what each Mission might have looked like long ago.

Caveat: if you are aware of how much many of the so-called Mission Indians suffered under a system of religious slavery, you might not welcome the author's effusive tone. My reaction to visiting the Serra Missions was not spiritual delight, but anger, sorrow, and nausea. (My Cherokee ancestors walked The Trail Where We Cried.) At the same time, the author doesn't pitch religion; he photographs and writes up his reactions, and his sense of wonder comes through nicely.

2000 Benjamin Franklin Award Winner
Mission Memoirs recently won a 2000 Benjamin Franklin Award, and is one of 29 titles included in the Rounce & Coffin Club's Annual Western Books Exhibition.

This book is breathtaking
I've never been much for history-- until reading this book. The photographs are lush and gorgeous; the text is rich and personal; the mere layout of the artwork is striking. It's really a wonderful work!

I use this book for almost every occasion!
I hosted a Mardi Gras party and lucked-out finding this absolutly wonderful book. The recipes are easy to follow and everything that I have made (at least a dozen or so)has turned out great. I am constantly being asked for these recipes so now I am buying several copies to give to those close family and friends who have mentioned that they would like to buy it. The best of the best: Shrimp in mustard sauce, Sun-dried tomato pesto, Jezebel sauce, Cajun-Country bread pudding w/rum sauce and Chantilly cream, and on and on.

Absolutely Delicious Authentic Recipes!
I have prepared many of the dishes in the new book. All were excelent. The recipes were easy to follow. The Authentic dishes take more time to prepare than the quickie recipes from other books but WOW! what a difference in flavor. This book is a must for anyone wanting to entertain guests with Cajun-Creole flavors.

My favorite Cajun cookbook
All of the recipes that I have tried in this book, from the staples to the exotic, are wonderful. Some of them (such as the Red Beans & Rice or the Artichoke-Heart Casserole) have become favorites to be prepared whenever I want to impress or just enjoy good eating.

Recipes include background information about how dishes came about, when they should be served and with what. They range from simple, everyday dishes to elaborate, impressive feasts.

If you buy only one Cajun cookbook, buy this one. Its the one to have. I'm buying another one because I wore mine out.

This is a must-have reference for any Asiaphile.
Terry Durack has written the penultimate reference book for all serious noodle-heads, or wannabes. If you've ever wandered the aisles of an Asian market, enchanted yet baffled by fresh, dried, yellow, green, white, thin, fat and medium noodles...get this book. Noodles are ID'd with photos, then identified in 3 or 4 languages, how-to-cook, how to serve and recipes follow. Fabulous recipes and, as a bonus, you'll be educated AND entertained by Durack's wicked sense of humor. No cook should be without this one!!

Cheaper than airfare
Excellent presentation that demystifies the process with simple recipes using easy-to-find ingredients. Yes, you CAN recreate the tastes you experienced in that noddle tent in Fukuoka!

I love this book!
Beautifully photographed, lovingly and humorously written, 'Noodle' is simply superb. First readers are introduced to the various noodles of the world in the Noodle ID section. Then readers are treated to truly wonderful Asian recipes, country by country. (I do hope that the author writes a follow-up focusing on European and American culinary uses of the noodle.)A great book that honors a great, comforting food. Thanks, Terry Durack!

He's Too Hip, Baby!
It's hard to imagine today, but there once was a time when the simple written word could send shudders of fear and loathing down the spines of mainstream America. And no one gave Mr and Mrs Front Porch USA the shakes more than Terry Southern. His novel "Candy" was banned and branded as pornography before it even reached our shores; his take on the military in "Doc Strangelove" earned him the label "pinko." But, like all great satirists (which he certainly was) know, "telling it like it is" often times means "taking your lumps like a man." And Terry took plenty of lumps, and humps, but never let his trials and tribs get in the way of "making it hot" for people. Although the mighty lions of 60's pop culture are now - alas! - all nearly gone, this volume of previously unseen TS works serves as an excellent reminder of a time when humor meant more than just being funny, and words alone had the power to give people the coniptions. And as "Now Dig This!" reminds us, while Southern took on all comers and suffered no fool gladly, he was a gentle giant who did so whilst nudging us playfully in the ribs - not poking us in the eye. "Now Dig This!" is a great addition to any modern humor library, and a worthy addition to the Southern canon. Bravo.

the long awaited sequel to Red Dirt Marijuana
In these heartless consumerist times, irony has become debased. Thus the arrival of this anthology of previously uncollected and unpublished work by Terry Southern is not only a delightful surprise, but profoundly neccesary. Just as his 1967 anthology, Red Dirt Marijuana, proved that Southern was not just the great black humorist of the post-WWII era, but a great short story writer and essayist, so does Now Dig This affirm that status. No one has ever managed to quite duplicate Southern's mastery of so many forms: the letter as put-on, gonzo journalism, literary criticism, screenwriting and short fiction. Southern fans will be delighted at the inclusion of "Heavy Put-Away", a superb essay on Kurt Weill, and reminscences of Stanley Kubrick and Frank O'Hara. For first time readers, I have only envy. Now Dig This will be your all expenses paid ticket to a world of darkness and laughter. To paraphrase Ringo Starr, who acted in adaptations of two Southern novels, Candy and The Magic Christian, Buy a Terry Southern book today. Now Dig This is a very, very good place to start your spending spree.

The long awaited sequel to Red Dirt Marijuana
Hard core Terry Southern fans and first time readers alike will find much to enjoy in Now Dig This. This anthology is a wonderful distillation of uncollected and unpublished work spanning the buttoned down cool of the fifties to the post-Reagan and Bush nineties. Now Dig This offers readers a chance to rediscover Terry Southern in his many guises: as a great short story writer, master of the zany epistle, screenwriter par excellence, raconteur (his memories of working on Dr. Strangelove and staging pranks with Frank O'Hara are worth the cover price alone), critic, journalist (doing Gonzo before everyone else), and all around grand guy. For those who have become numbed out by the coopted irony of our consumerist present, it is refreshing and inspiring to back to the source. To paraphase Ringo Starr, buy a Terry Southern book today.

The Parallel Triangle
There are no words that can describe the details of this book. The wonderfully developed characters were paired up with an extraordinary story. By reading this book you will set yourself on a journey filled with struggles. You will not want to put the book down because you get caught up in the characters and truly want to know where the book is going to take you and how it is going to end. You will also find yourself reading the book as slowly as possible to allow yourself the opportunity to live in the book for as long as possible. I would highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

The Parallel Triangle
I loved this book! The characters were fantastic and you really care about what is happening to them. I couldn't stop reading and didn't want the story to end!

The Parallel Triangle: A Coming to Terms with Sexual Identit
This book was unlike anything I could've imagined! The characters were so well developed that you felt as if you knew each of them personally. I couldn't put it down, and finished it in two days. I became so involved in the story that I even dreamt about it when I finished it. I definitley recommend this book!

A Passion for Books

Sheer Delight for Bibliophiles!
Beautifully illustrated and interspersed with wonderful quotes from book lovers, literature buffs and readers who read for life. It's hard to believe this exquist book is out of print already. I've owned my copy for a couple of years now and I pull it off the shelf re-read sections (or the entire book) every couple of months.

Perfect gift for a book-lover!
I hope that Amazon can find this out-of-print book for you! This slim hardcover book, is a feast for the eyes, as well as the mind. Each of the eight chapters is beautifully illustrated with a variety of pictures depicting mankind's love affair with books over history. Each chapter has a few pages by the author, but then he includes a LOT of quotes from various thinkers on reading and libraries from centuries past. One of the quotes is used on Amazon bookmarks: "When I get a little money, I buy books; and if there is any left I buy food and clothes." by Erasmus.

Two of the chapters I especially enjoyed are "A Place to Read" and "The Lure of Libraries". At the end of the book, a few lined but blank pages are included for "My Personal Book List" where the reader can jot down titles of books that have been recommended.

I noticed that Terry Glaspey is coming out with another book about reading and books this coming June. I'm looking forward to checking that one out!

Please see my other reviews of Christian books and music!

A Pleasant Collector's Book for Booklovers
Although not as good as the author's previous book "Great Books of the Christian Tradition," I did enjoy the picturesque tribute to books and the quotes about books from various authors. This is a book solely for booklovers and will probably not appeal to anybody else. Since I share Glaspey's love of books, I found this slender and lovely volume enjoyable. I just wish his last book previously mentioned was as nice and hardbound since I use it so much! - Brad Clark

great for therapeutics class and for pharmacy practice
This is a great book, easy to read and follow. Concise enough where you can read it fast but with enough background information so the drug therapy makes sense. You will get a thorough understanding on what drugs are used and why. Picks up on the key points a pharmacist needs to know in practice and a student or someone who is studying for the boards needs to know for exams. Flowcharts are great, has JNC-VI guidelines which are the standard when it comes to drug therapy and pharmaceutical care. Overall, a great book that will enhance your understanding by leaps and bounds.

Extremely needed
an excellent reference for students in their clinical clerkship rotations. It does facilitate life as it is extremely well written with the right details..

Thorough, yet concise, coverage of all major disease states
This is the best formatted, most current handbook on pharmacotherapy. I especially appreciate the pathophysiologic approach, drug treatment, and monitoring parameters outlined throughout the book. Chapters are concise, and yet offer thorough coverage of the most commonly encountered disease states. Each chapter is written by one or more expert in the field; chapters can be read very quickly. A great working tool for clinical pharmacists. I definetely recommend it.

not just for brits
since i saw "holy grail" 6 years ago, (i was 10) i have been hell bent on finding everything the pythons ever did. unfortunately most of my friends don't share my enthusiasm for british comedy, but i think it should be known that the occasional american recognizes comedic genius when she sees it. for all those who live in areas where mention of the pythons is scarce, this is a must have. you'll be quoting them in your head at school, at work, on the bus, wherever. just ignore the people who turn and look when you burst out laughing.

This is Abuse....Stupid Git
Well, what CAN be said? It is good to see humour spelled with a pair of U's (per the King's English). Whilst doth contain numerous funny bits, perhaps the American palate is not suited for wit which possesses intellectual subtleties.

For our American friends I recommend Rosanne Arnold, fluorescent plaid sport-coats (with matching white 5cm/2" belt), premium Wisconsin 3 week old processed cheese slices, Napa Valley's finest blush and a domestic rum tipped Colt cigar.

And Now For Something Completely Worth It
A hilarious book! Definitely worth reading over and over. This book is ideal for Python Maniacs and was hard to find up until this point. This is even funnier than "Wenn ist das Nunstuck git und Slotermeyer? Ja! Beirhund das Oder die Flipperwaldt Gersput" (Whatever that means) If you haven't read the Pocketful of Python Series yet, What in the bloody hell are you waiting for? Attention, Python Maniacs... Read this book. You'll love it!
