Painting the Drama of Wildlife Step by Step

This is a dramatic wildlife book!
I like this book, it is very attentitive to small details, the resulting paintings are very naturalistic and often very dramatic as well. The artist knows about nature and it shows.
The illustrations are absolutely gorgeous and you just sit there, stuck and fascinated.

The book is using acrylic paints, but the book can be absolutely and utterly recommended for oil and watercolor as well. Even if you aren't an artist it is well worth just for browsing on the coffee table... Buy it, steal it, borrow it, just Get it.

Not Just for Acrylic Painters
In contrast to the abundance of books on oil and watercolor painting there are few high quality books on acrylic painting. This book however helps fill that gap. The numerous photos of step-by-step techniques for painting everything from backgrounds to various types of fur (dry, wet, patterned, white) to eyes, feathers, leaves, grass, clouds, water, waterdrops, rocks, snow, special effects and a gallery of textures is a feast for the eyes. If not for the close-up photos I would think Mr. Isaac was painting in oil.

The author covers composition do's and don'ts, balance, repetition, lighting, getting a correct pose and other tips for integrating the subject into the scene. The numerous demonstrations list the supplies used for each painting followed with step-by-step details of composition and techniques. The end of the book shows a gallery of some of Isaac's paintings and an index. These techniques can be used by anyone wanting to paint wildlife scenes in an opaque manner - not only acrylics. I've sat with this book open beside my paintings and continually used these techniques for several wildlife paintings I made in casein, Chromacolour and even alkyd. This is a book to be used, not read then stored away on the bookshelf. Get it and see your wildlife paintings improve.

Top of the line...
This book like the artist is top notch. It's hard to find a book done by a world class artist. Terry Isaac is such an artist. Any one of the concepts presented in this book it worth the books price. All aspects of his thought processes and painting technics are revealed. Terry shows step by step examples of how he created works that he exhibits, not stuff whipped out to create a book. If your looking for a book on wildlife painting or landscape painting your not going to find a better book.

SOMBER YET PRETTY
THE POET SPEAKS IN BLACK is a melancholy collection of poetry by Terry a.
O'Neal that covers a gamut of life experiences. The poems will evoke emotion
and paint vivid pictures of the pain and hurt that many people experience.
The mood of the collection is somber, but laced with hope. Pieces like 'Jump
The Fence' speak to the resilience of the human spirit. In this poem, O'Neal
talks about escaping and her words are so vibrant, you are running with her and
planning your own escape.

O'Neal uses her words like a painter uses color in his work. She creates a
world between each syllable and punctuation mark. The poems will leave you
sighing and pondering. She ends the collection with a thoughtful tribute to
September 11. After delving the reader into the abyss of sadness that
surrounds that day, she dips the tip of her brush into yellow paint and leaves
us with 'Lessons Learned,' reminding us that there is always hope in the midst
of darkness.

"Word of Mouth" [he say, she say] the poem rings true as does the entire collection. Terry A. O'Neal is a wordsmith. "Loose Change," "A Bottle's Blues," and "Behind Romance," are some of my favorites and posess words that take you poetically and hold you hostage, leaving you finally understanding what drives some people to write poetry. Her poems are crisp, clear and are varied in that they range from love to a prayer for the people. The Poet Speaks in Black is a collection that you'll be glad that you purchased and will encourage your friends to own for years to come.

This poet definitely speaks to you!
I received this book in mail just before a Thanksgiving road trip to Dallas! Thank God it arrived on time. I could not put the book down. As a poet, I found myself totally "into" Terry O'Neal's delightful way with words. Sometimes I thought I was reading a poem I'd like to write myself. Other times I tricked my husband with her words along the road as I read him a poem or two from the book.

We often think of poetry as a fast read or a complicated read. You will want to read this book again and again as you find that you have favorites throughout the book. My personal favorites were "Choices," "Guide Me" and "Word of Mouth" to name a few. Terry O'Neal not only speaks to you, but she teaches you a thing or two about life with her words and experiences. That's what poetry is all about.

It's a beautiful book inside and out: well written, well designed, well spoken and well worth the purchase! Congratulations to this sister poet for such stylistic, heart-grabbing poetry. Her words on life, history, family, relationships and self will have you believing she wrote the book just for you! I can't wait to read another selection by this author. Not only does this poet speak in "black," but she also speaks with a language that your soul can understand. Great book of poems, a must have if you call yourself a poet and/or poetry reader!

The work of the Holy Spirit
I was so amazed to read how the Holy Spirit could work and be manifested in and through young Samuel Morris' life. The same Holy Spirit made me shed tears as I browsed through the pages. The life of Samuel Morris would be a great impact on every heart and without doubt on young people. Well written and easy to follow. Praise The Lord !

Everything is possible with Faith
Samuel Morris : The Apostle of Simple Faith is simply written and convey the Christian faith to the reader. While reading this book, one feels living in Samuel Morris' era. The book makes you forget that this young African was living in the time when slavery was so deep in this country. Yet, Samuel Morris became the common denominator for both white and black people. His faith saved Taylor University. It is sad that he died so young and so full of promises. Jesus couldn't have a better disciple than this young man.

Great book on simple faith and prayer.
I was crying all the way through this book as GOD saved and walked with this man. Great book to pull your heart strings. Simple and easy to read.

Shadow World Master Atlas

Author: Terry K. Amthor

The finest fantasy atlas I have ever read.
This book is simply impressing. It displays a huge quantity of information without ever being boring to read. It is the first fantasy atlas I have ever read from the first to the last page without ever wanting to close it.

Its main features are:
- a COMPLETE description of the world (it is vast, but all the continents are treated, and each has been granted a beautiful map).
- A very rigorous and comprehensive presentation of the way magic is considered and used in this world.
- An overview of all the available PC races. They are more than 50, and each one of them is beautifully described.
- A complete history of the different regions of this world.
- Chapters on the Gods, the ores and the creatures of this world.

Above all, this atlas is remarkable for two uncommon features: Its JRR Tolkien-like credibility (the author display an outstanding knowledge of the myths and legends of the western cultures) and its poesy (the author treat all its subjects in a gentle and courtous way which is really refreshing).

shadow world at its best
im collecting rolemaster since 1st printing and this atlas rocks. not only is the timeline expanding, it also features all the info on kulthea u need to get a fantasy world going. very good storytelling and wonderful setting. i really hope mr. amthor keeps it up. if u master/play rolemaster get it NOW! its worth every cent.

Top of the world!
Maybe you've been looking for a magical, real, fantasy world; it's here.

I've been playing in many different fantasy settings, Young kingdoms, Glorantha, Greyhawk, Forgotten realms, Old World, etc. There are only two worlds I love, Middle Earth and Shadow World.

About the edition, Terry's books are always impressive works of design and style, well organized and you can find that wonderful index by words, very useful.

About the content, a complete explanation of what is, who lives and who delves in planet Kulthea. It's full of interesting ideas and has all the information you need to play in this world, and the last tip, I always thought in Shadow World as a mature world (it's nothing related with sex), I mean it's a world where the bad guys are really really bad, or maybe you can imagine a zhentarim being as evil as any Arnak priest?

Buy it.

Mr. Benson

a classic
Another "BDSM" erotica classic! A must read for those who love submissive men or dream of dominant men -- like both then you'll be doubly pleased. The only problem is that the plot tends to drift off from the training to a police drama at the mid-point.

This is one excellent read!
Mr. Benson kept me on my toes the entire time I was reading it. From start to finish, it kept my attention. It was full of mystery as well as physical action, which is a great combination. I've never read a more thrilling book!

Fine Leatherswx & more
There will be no "follow-ups" to Mr. Benson, because John Preston passed away. However, his works include several more excellent volumes of erotic work involving men and their passions for SM and each other. See also "Looking for Mr. Preston", a tribute anthology to the man and his writing

Not a Tame Lion: The Spiritual Legacy of C.S. Lewis (Leaders in Action Series)

A Wonderful Mix
The book is short and so are the sections. And for some reason, it gives the book a certain charm. You can take a minute or two and read the next section, and if you want put it down. There is a lot of information in each section. The first part of the book is biographical in nature. The more interesting part, in my opinion, is the second part. This is where the editor really shined and his admiration and understanding of Lewis shines through. Each section deals with Lewis' thoughts on certain subjects. It is not really biographical...it is picking the brain of a giant. The book is truly wonderful and I suggest it for all Lewis fans, or for those serious about becoming more acquainted with his thoughts. Would make a great gift.

Not a Tame Biography
This book is a part of the Leaders in Action Series, which contains many biographies of great leaders throughout history, all of which are extremely stellar. Each book is divided into a biography section and an analysis section, the latter of which is always very insightful. The chapters are short, so reading can be spaced throughout a few weeks, which is very helpful.

But beyond the series itself, this book is hands down the best biography I've read on C.S. Lewis, barring his own autobiography. Terry Glaspey traces three main attributes of Lewis throughout his life: imagination, reason, and faith. Threaded all throughout Jack's life, these three things set him apart as a leader, and Glaspey brings them out beautifully. The man had such faith in God that he couldn't help but glory in fantasy and intellect, and after reading this biography I want nothing else but to lay hold on these traits and incorporate them into my own life.

I would first and foremost recommend Lewis' autobiography, _Surprised by Joy_. But for the facts Lewis left out and for a delightful analysis of Lewis' life and writings from an outside stance, this book can't be beat.

Will leave you wanting to read more of C. S. Lewis
I had only read the Chronicles of Narnia, which I had found to be very profound, yet I had never really understood the breadth of the contributions of C. S. Lewis before reading this small volume. Mr. Glaspey does not waste words in this interesting biography. I have not read anything else about Lewis, but I feel that I know and understand so much about him because of this book. This book is divided equally between the life of Lewis and His teachings. If anything was a could be improved it would be that much of the teaching is paraphrased and summarized by Glaspey. I am certain that larger excerpts of Lewis own very eloquent words would have been better. I appreciate the small bibliography of other biographies of Lewis included at the end. This book does a wonderful job of highlighting a christian genius.

One Great Short Story
After Flash and Filigree, this is the second weakest of Southern's books. It does, however, contain a remarkable short story, "Razor Fight," images from which have remained with me for more than a decade. After reading that Joan Didion used to retype Ernest Hemingway's short stories to gain a better understanding of his style, I did the same thing with "A Clean, Well-Lighted Place" and "Razor Fight," and then ran them through the Grammatik grammar checker, which ranks writing according to its succinctness. Both stories were ranked at the third grade level -- no small accomplishment.

weird and crazy
Screw prose. Screw plot. This book is so damned funny! It reminds me of the war stories of Michael Herr or the drugged ut fantasies of Hunter Thompson. What about the woman who colors her hair blond, only to return home and have her husband mistake her for a mistress. What about the irreverent humor about Hoover trying some neck-crophilia on JFK's body. This is one of the most original collection of stories I've ever read. It's so hard to find stuff like this nowadays.

Excellent, excellent, excellent.
Should be required reading in beginning English and journalism classes. Book is date sensitive. Readers can explore the historical context and content. A very funny contribution to journalism.

Fun reading
From England to Nazi Germany to the West Coast of Florida,
RUSH is a fast moving adventure of three unlikely friends who find themselves mistakenly, but strategically involved in
supplying the U-boat submarines that were sinking Allied ships close to the shores of America in early part of World War II.
RUSH is a war story, action packed and often humorous. It moves to a surprising, dramatic and satisfactory end.

RUSH
A fun read. This reader was pulled into an exciting tale with deep south local color, German U-Boat tactics and American heroism in World War II. WOW!

A fast paced, compelling story
"Rush",the adventures of three downtroddened individuals, caught in their own greed, falling into World War II due to their naivete, keeps the reader captured through Mr. Terry's descriptions, humor, and timing. Mr. Terry's first book "The Battle for Pusan", was a fast paced, compelling first hand account of his experiences during the Korean War. "Rush" is a compelling, fast paced fictional book that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Both books contain a certain tenderness, bond of brothers and family, and a moral lesson to be learned. An excellent, entertaining read.
