A Fabulous Gift
The recipes are wonderful and the book itself full of gorgeous photos, drawings and, in general, just wonderfully produced. I'm buying several for Christmas gifts for out-of-state relatives and friends. I'm new to the state and this is a fabulous introduction to the food and customs.

Definitely goes "beyond bbq and chili" to wonderful fusion of the traditional and the most up-to-date. You will not be sorry you bought this.

Wow!
This is a beautiful cookbook! Even if you have lived in Texas your whole life, you will see places you haven't glimpsed. Having been born in Texas and raised on the variety of foods available here, I love how these recipes take it to a higher level. The recipes are perfect...though not always easy, they are always worthy of the effort. I made the cover dish first thing and got raves from all who ate it. I love the way she pairs the Texas wines with each meal. And she tells so much about Texas...research well done!

Good Food from Texas
This book has some really wonderful recipes...and so true to Texas. I took a cooking class from Terry Thompson-Anderson where she demonstrated some of these wonderful recipes. When I tried them myself, they were just as good....the measure of a truly good cookbook!

super
fantastic book! a great way for westerners to learn about tibetan medicine... Clifford enables the reader to connect an eastern tradition to our western minds... if you're interested in Tibetan medicine, this book is a great on to begin with...

Ancient Knowledge that is still valid today
I am a Native American and I have found many spiritual similarities between my own Hidatsa-Mandan traditions and the Tibetan tradition. The section on causes of Psychiatric disorders is the most interesting and relevant section in my opinion.

If nothing else, this book will open the hard nosed "scientific" community's eyes. The mere survival of its people and traditions is a testament to the validity of the views of Tibetan culture.

Indispensable book for everyone interested in Tibetan Medici
True story of psychiatric nurse, Terry Clifford, who left her job working in a NYC psychiatric hospital to travel to Tibet, Nepal and Northern India to research traditional Tibetan medical methods of working with mental illness.

The traditional Tibetan doctors really opened up due to Ms. Clifford's sincerity, knowledge of physchiatric illness, and amiable personality. They translated esoteric Tibetan medical concepts, related expereinces from their medical practices and even gave her traditional Tibetan herbal formulas for pyschiatric illnesses.

The author's description and explanation of "demons" in Tibetan Medicine, including one that causes the patient to believe that their religion is the one and only true religion, shows a great deal of the insight, humour and intelligence that permeates the entire book.

Tragically, Ms. Clifford died shortly after this book was published and her work was cut short.

Everyone working with traditional Tibetan medicine owes a debt to Ms. Clifford's groundbreaking work.

This will possibly save your life!
This book is chockfull of easy to follow tips that might possibly save your life. Whether you are travelling for business or pleasure, the valuable information gained from reading this book will make your trip a lot more enjoyable in today's climate.
What's more, the contents are put forward in an easy to read format that even the novice will grasp.
A must for the business traveller and those that serve the business traveller.

Reveiw from Security Management, September, 1998
Kidnappings in India and the Philippines. Violent robberies in St. Petersburg, Russia, and Washington, D.C. Hotel fires in Las Vegas and Havana. How can a business traveler keep safe while on the road? This book tries to answer that question, and for the most part, it does so in fine fashion. International terrorism, plane hijackings, hostage situations, and street crime have made the security executive an important resource for the peripatetic business person. This pocket-size resource provides an easy, convenient way of informing the corporate road warrior of the dangers that exist, how to avoid them, and how to escape them. Its small size also makes the book easy for an executive to pack with belongings so that he or she can have an on-site reference. The simple chapter layout and titling make it easy to pick out topics of immediate interest, such as dealing with hotel fires, using public facilities, or preparing for a trip on short notice. The book is written in such an easy prose style that it makes good reading for a short plane flight--though a lot of information is squeezed into the book's 185 pages. ...this is a valuable little book

From The Tactical Traveler on BizTravel.com, June 8, 1998
Maybe it is the revelation that two historic enemies, Hindu India and Muslim Pakistan, now have state-of-the-art weapons of destruction, but I'm feeling a bit paranoid about travel again. If you're similarly spooked, check out the second edition of "Travel Can Be Murder," a practical, easy-to-follow guide to on-the-road safety. Written by psychologist Terry Riley, the paperback offers more than 600 useful and thought-provoking tips. You've read most of the information before, but consider this a refresher course on paranoia, the traveler's best friend.

good medicine
I love the brief essays in Terry's book. I use them to help me get a quick good therapy, perspective, attitude of gratitude, smiles, laughs, warm fuzzies, -- its a lot better than watching the news w/ my morning coffee! Terry is magic, good hearted, and a great writer. She describes her experiences without self-centeredness and makes the reader feel good about themselves and their time spent w/ the book, vacationing!

An exquisite artist of language
Terry Marotta's use of words and language in this book is so exquisite that her phrases catapult you to familiar images. I found myself saying "Yes, that is exactly what that looks like. Yes, I know that feeling exactly." Her fine use of words paint pictures that were delightful. And her handling of everyday life and subjects was fun, at times funny, but always respectful. Having read this book, I am buying it as Christmas gifts for others who love the fine craft of words and I am getting a second of her works for myself!

Funny, moving, delightful, and occasionally entrancing
Written by syndicated columnist Terry Marotta, Vacationing In My Driveway is a collection of 52 special columns, one relating to every week in the year, about topics ranging from religious devotion to learning to relax and enjoy life. Funny, moving, delightful, and occasionally entrancing, these vignettes are like popcorn - reading one only makes you want to read more. Vacationing In My Driveway is highly recommended reading for Terry's legions of fans, and will well serve to introduce her particular brand of wit, wisdom, and observation to those not yet familiar with her writings.

A Guide to State Programs
The book was easy to read, and not complicated to follow and understand the instructions.

Long overdue book
My State Representative has a copy of this book and we are working on improving benefits for the State of Oklahoma. Our benefit book now has thirty two pages and seven of those are dedicated to license plates.
All PX's and BX's should have this book available to all future veterans so they can get ready to return to civilian life in their home state or any state they decide to live in.
Every Veterans Organization should have this book to have informed service officers to help veterans. Also this book should be used by service organizations to help them improve their own State's benefits.
My sincere thanks goes to Mr Armstrong & Rizzuti for the work put into this book

The guide you have been waiting for.
Very informative and comprehensive , a thourough and well organized list of state programs to aid any vet looking to simplify their search through the quagmire we call governmental agencies.

Terrific Book! Buy It!
Beth Terry is a delight to know and her collection of inspired wisdom in "Walking in a Crowd of Angels" is the work of an angel. Her words carefully craft a message of hope, understanding and Love.

Saved by an Angel
"Walking in a Crowd of Angels" has been my angel. Although I normally do very little non-business reading, I have read this book twice in two weeks. It has been such a breath of fresh air that I feel I can breathe again after a period of feeling nearly suffocated by my job circumstances. I'm remembering what peace and joy are like. Thank you to the angel!

Chicken Soup for a Crowded Soul
You do not read Beth Terry's Walking in a crowd of Angels book - instead you devour it like an ice-cream sundae after a stressful day. Her witty, humorous and poignant short stories and quotes will lift you from the "funk" that sometimes overwhelms us: self-pity, fear, sadness, the "why me?" syndrom and just plain the blues. This honest and down-to-earth collection of quotes and stories will make you laugh, cry, smile and answer: Why not me! Get one for yourself and then one for all your friends - your gift giving worries are over. This is chicken soup for the crowded soul - everyone's!

Touching
This is a storie to remember! Makes you feel like your part of the action, your scared when the characters are scared, you cry when the charicters cry! It is a awsome book

Absolutely a MUST HAVE "heart-wrenching" Book!
This book is utterly captivating! The author literally pulls you into her life and heart-felt feelings as soon as you start reading it. She shares her experiences, her love of husband and family, as well as her intermost thoughts at the most perilous times of her life. She shows complete unselfishness in her ability to lead her family through all the ups and downs of ill health, surgery, death and heartache; while still trusting the lord with upmost faith. This book is a must have book! I would recommend this to all adults and children alike, as it provides so much strength and courage for all of us to use now, or to hold it into our hearts to use later on if we need it. This book would be great in our school libraries to build great character traits for our children and grandchildren.

Everyone should own this book
This book is amazing. It makes you really look at your life and understand what is important. It is not money or how big your house is or even what car you drive, it is family. The love, hope and suport you get from people you love and that love you. My 9 year old daughter did a book report on this book and now the teacher is reading it and loving it. If you ever have a day when nothing is going right just read a chapter or two of this book and everything wont seem to bad.

Wormwood
Published in Unknown Binding by Aphelion Publications ()
Author: Terry Dowling
Amazon base price: $
Used price: $7.95
Average review score:

Superb
A very fine piece of SF, reflecting on what it means to be human by exploring interactions with alien races. The aliens are not humans in rubber suits, as in much inferior SF. The non-humans in Wormwood have genuinely different viewpoints and motivations.

Wormwood also has an allegorical side. Humans, as a species, representing those dispossesed by invaders; their assumptions and values arbitrarily redrawn by a superior power.

Wormwood is also somewhat easier stylistically than some of Dowling's other offerings (such as Blue Tyson).

A great book
Read this book ! It's great piece of litterature!

The best SF I've read in years
I've always liked Zelazny and this is as original and as deep as anything he ever did. How this can be out of print, I have no idea. I'm hoping that this writer has writing since Wormword and that there will lots more great SF waiting.
