I see my son
I received this wonderful book over a year ago when I was in the hospital having my son. A few months later his father left us. I received several parenting books, but didn't feel like reading. I was busy finding a job and feeling sad and scared. One day I decided to finally clean up the books stacked up beside my bed, and I was drawn to this book. For me to take the time to find this site and to write this, means I am motivated (I have never done this before). I don't know who will ever read this, but I want to some way say "thank you"! I love the way the book is written, it is written from my baby son to me. I "see" him now... I understand his feelings better... and I even understand my feelings better. I realize he has been going through hard things because I have been struggling. I have grown up over night! I am the MOM, and my job is to understand and care for my child! I got so much from the house cleaning and cooking section- My gosh - I never thought that much about the house and how it affects us... Thank you, thank you! I wish more young Moms could have this great book so they could SEE what these little kids need from their parents!

As an instructor I am grateful....
I work with parents or teen and single Moms on a regular basis. I am always looking for parenting books that will help me be more teachable. DEAR MOMMY DEAR DADDY certainly filled the bill! How wonderful to finally find a parenting book that expresses needs, wants and concerns of young children. I see it as a special training program for the parent from their child. So easy to follow and to understand. When I use the common sense (basic) messages in the book, my class actually listens. When I ask them to read a section, they actually read it (and understand what it says)! I have overcome many obstacles because of this wonderful parenting book written as if by the baby & young child. "Thank you!"

This is a GREAT GIFT for young or new parents!
I am not too proud to say that I needed advice when I had my baby. If it wasn't for the hospital and their parenting classes I would have made a lot of mistakes. They gave me a copy of this great parenting book, and it helped me understand my baby better. I try to give it to my friends who live in other towns (their hospital isn't giving parenting classes or this book). When they receive the book, they have all thanked me, and it has actually made us all closer friends. We discuss our concerns more and aren't afraid to ask for answers anymore. We realize we don't have all the answers and it's OK to be real. I've never done a review before and my friend is sitting here helping me, but we want to let others know how much help from this book we have had. Thank you. Is there anyone out there who can give books to other hospitals, so it can help other young Moms the way it has helped me?

Blackfoot Boy
I found this book to be a thoroughly enjoyable read. A lot of the situations that Terry finds himself in, I as an ex member of HM Forces can relate to.

From the outset of the book, with him as a young child, through to the end of the final chapter with him leaving England, with the intention of never returning to live there again, I found the story to be wonderfully entertaining.

The book is a series of stories within a story and is full of examples of life both inside and outside military service. A life that can best be described as full of adventure.

Some of this 'adventure' no doubt Terry would describe as extremely pleasant, and some, very frightening.

Well done Mr Lowndes.

Yours sincerely

R.G.Moss

Great Story, what a interesting life
I read this book and could not put it down. Terry is a great story teller. He takes us on adventures during his childhood in New Zealand with laughter and tearful stories. He then takes you to England where he joins the Navy as a boy seamen. The stories or wild and witty. He tells of his days when being discharged from the Navy. Once you start this book you can't stop turning the pages.

Life in the Lower deck in the Andrew ---and beyond
The story of part of the life of the author begins quietly, running quickly through a childhood spent in many different countries. We then move to the character forming experince of lower deck living in the Royal Navy in the sixties. Swinging it certainly was and Terry takes us through his various 'adventures' consisting mainly of drinking, fighting, drinking, punishment, loads of laughs until he and the Navy part company. He then embarks on an even more hairy ride through life in the cab of trucks which travel into some of the most dangerous places on earth. A rumbustious rollicking read

Goodnight, Dear Monster!
I recently purchased a copy of this book for my two nieces. My nieces are ages 4 and 7. They really enjoyed this book and they love the pictures. I would highly recommend this book to anyone that has young kids. I am sure they will enjoy reading this book.

This book spans all ages!
This delightful book was purchased for my son, and also my grandson. It gives my grandson a thrill he can tell a story from the illustrations, and as a parent I see what wonderful positive stories can be told about monsters! This book is really empowering for a child. It helps overcome the child's fear of monsters. It's such a good bedtime story, wonderfully illustrated by the author. My son is older now, but we share fond memories of reading Good Night, Dear Monster! together.

Terry brooks books
When i started reading Terry Brook's books, I thought them to be boring, then you get caught up in the story. That was 4 years ago, now I own every book he has ever writen, except the screenplay for ''HOOK''. If I'd have to suggest a certain book to someone(and I have had to do so often), I would absolutely suggest to anybody to read his books. He's a brilliant writer, and has a way to captivate his ''audience''.

A Fantasy Classic
I have read the entire series several times and still find myself in awe...It was Terry Brooks that got me interested in fantasy books and remains one of my fave authors. I would highly recomend the Shannara series to anyone. A new continuation of the Shannara series has just started and i look forward to the thrills that they hold. Terry Brooks is amazing and it is not only his Shannara series that has destinguished him, i have also read "Running with the Deamon", "A Knight Of The Word" and Angel Fire East" and although they are not the conventional fantasy form set in a magic kingdom worlds away it brings it home and is excellent in it its own right. Well done Terry Brooks and keep wrighting for us. Anyone who wishes to talk about his books or related books is welcome to e-mail me...

Hail Terry Brooks!
This series (along with the other two) is the best fantasy writing I have ever read. The characters are REAL....you begin to feel their moods as you read it. When I read The Wishsong of Shannara... the main character developed an introspective, depressed mood, I did the same. I had to get up and go do something else....it's that influential. The descriptions are superb....you feel like you are THERE as you read them. That's about it.....if you like fantasy...these books are definitely the best ones you can find.

A Non-Stop, Don't-Drop Book!!! It was, SPELLBINDING!
I grabbed this book online on a lark... and am I ever glad I did! I couldn't put it down! From the opening bell of the trading pit in the first paragraph, the author takes off at the speed of the markets, sidetracking only to share the lessons hard-learned along the way. For the first time ever I read about an "Everyday Joe" who buckled up for daily war and successfully fought to win in the greatest financial wars our society knows. He also lets us in on his REAL personal life, his fears, and the dichotomies and dilemnas of being a devout Christian operating ethically and morally in a world that most Christians neither understand nor condone. This is a work that stands for ANYONE trying to succeed in an arena that at first appears counter to their chosen values, regardless of religion or career. If you're reading these reviews to help you decide, STOP HERE! CLICK THE BUY BUTTON! It's the best trade you'll make today!

A well written, introspective inside look of pit trading
Lessons From the Pit opens with a strong narrative depicting a day in the life of a young trader unable to reconcile his behavior as a star trader with his father/husband role model. With this same type of introspection, the author shares in a candid, humorous, and at times, self-effacing, manner his foibles and strengths in his struggle for survival and meaning in the chaotic culture of the pit. As Dr. Clayton Yeuter aptly pointed out in the Forward, Joe Leininger, was a quick learner and garnered valuable lesson from his experiences trading that are applicable both to business and life. The metaphors used in this book are drawn from the contemporary sport scenes and news events which makes for both easy assimilation and enjoyable reading; so much so that I had difficulty putting the book down--also, the comments that I heard from other readers! In sum this is a well written volume giving an inside look at the bizarre culture of pit traders through the eyes of one who factored the spiritual dimension into the equation of his success.

A quick and enjoyable read with many excellent insights.
"Lessons from the Pit" is a page-turner! It is an honest and easy-to-read account of life in the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. What makes it so fascinating is the way Joe and Terry bring characters and scenes to life and use them to show how God worked in Joe's life. No matter what their career, all readers will come away with valuable insights and helpful suggestions. My only wish is that the book had been longer. I didn't want to put it down.

Big problems for little people.
Another race also inhabits this Earth, a race four inches tall that lives and moves very quickly, and they are called "nomes." Masklin, the leader of a dwindling band of nomes, decides that a better life must be found, so they stowaway aboard a truck, and find themselves taken to a huge department store. This department store, Arnold Bros. (est. 1905), is populated by thousands of nomes, something the humans above then never suspect. To Masklin and his band this place looks like heaven, but what is the meaning of the signs that read, "Final Sale: Everything Must Go?"

This book is a laugh-riot. Terry Pratchett succeeds is making the Nomes so different, and yet so human. This book is the first of a trilogy; with the other two entitled Diggers and Wings.

Funniest book ever!!!!
Terry Pratchet has done very well with this one and I believe I shall read the other two from the trilogy of the adventurous nomes(Diggers and Wings). I find it hillarious. These nomes live under the floorboards of a Super Market and are led to believe that there is no such thing as an outside (trees and sky are all just silly legends to them) and they beleive that the manager of the store is some kind of God. I suggest this book to every child aged 12-14. Best book ever!

A Fabulous and Hillarious Adventure
Truckers is the first book of the Bromeliad trilogy (followed by Diggers and Wings).

Masklin and his family are the last ten nomes of their warren, devastated by cold, predators and hunger. Desperately, they set out on a last chance journey and climb up on one of the lorries of the humans.

What they'll soon discover is that this lorry has lead them to the Store of Arnold Bros (est. 1905), the home of thousands of other little nomes who, having never left the Store, think of the Outside as of nothing more than just another fairy tale. The coming of Masklin will be a great upheaval in their quiet lives. And as they learn that the Store is to be demolished, they make plans for their escape.

Although Truckers was originally written for a young audience, it's an enthralling adventure but also a story about understanding other people's ways and helping each other, and no doubt grown-ups will love it too. Because Terry Pratchett's unique sense of humour is lurking round every corner, especially when nomes try to interpret our human world... and what's more to make sense of it!

Through dangers untold...
There is no way I can write a review good enought for this novel. It is, hands WAY down, the best fantasy ever written. It is the biggest shame that it should be out of print, and that the only place to find it anymore is on the internet. There is no way that you can not fall in love with every single character, especially Jareth, the seductive, and evil, yet good Goblin King. It is the essence of magic, and everyone should read it. It is a definite yes for those who saw the movie and loved it, because it holds true to the script. I'm begging the publishers, on my hands and knees, no, lower, to please please please put this book back into print. No one should miss it!

Jereth, Sarah and Toby....and odd group
This is a wonderful tale of love, infatuation, and family laced with adventure, friendship, hardship, and triumph. I first read this book in Junior High and later saw the movie. The book in my opinion was much better than the movie, but I found both exceptional.

Sarah made a wish she should have never made, and found out the had way that some wishes do come true. Her baby brother Toby is now missing and she is struggling to find him. She embarkes of a journey where she meets and makes friends who accompany her on her journeys. Just when she thinks she might just win the game, Jereth, King of the Goblins and Toby's captor, throws another wrench into the works.

No one's too old for Labyrinth
Since I was only nine, I adored the movie. I read the book a little while later, and I love that even more. Things aren't identical to the movie, exactly, making it a whole new experience. I wish I had a copy of my own, but they're hard to find. So, if you find it, you won't regret purchasing. It's wonderful for all ages, and each time you read, you'll find something you missed the time before.

Best Book
This book was reeeeeeaaaaaalllllllyyyyy gggooooodddd and it was introduced to me by my mother who recommended it and from then on i never looked back. i have read as many of his books as i can find and my favourite one in the discworld series is Mort, my fav in the truckers series is Truckers. Wings is about these little blokes who lived in a department store and then in a quarry and now they have to escape from the quarry because the humans have decided to re-open it. Its just about their advendtures to get away. I'll stop there so as not to spoil the book for you. Definetely worth your while.

Hilarious WINGS
My Dad has been reading Terry Pratchett books and he thought I'd like this one. He was right! You should read this book , because it is very funny and exciting. The book is about three nomes that got stuck on Earth and need to take a space shuttle home. The nomes get a lot of useful help from Thing, a machine. But too bad when Thing runs out of "pow" (power)!
I don't have the first two books from this trilogy but I am getting them next!

Wings
Wings is a wonderful, fanciful tale. It is also the third book in a series and is best read in order. Terry pratchet's work is always strong enough to stand alone, but I wouldn't want to miss a single book from any of his series.

Got Started... couldn't put it down
I don't like to read novels, books etc.... unless they are metaphysical in nature. That's my passion. But I was given this book by a friend, and on Easter evening I started reading it.As soon as I reached the second page.... I found myself playing all the characters .... as in a movie... I have to admit that I even enjoyed playing the leading woman. The writing was so fluid and moved quickly. I thought to myself," I'll just read a little more".... but I didn't put the book down until the end.
If you want a little romance in your life... with a twist..... pick this book up for you and you mate and read it together in bed!
Louie

I'm hooked!
It is great! I couldn't put it down, even the second time. Each chapter brought new ideas and new twists and turns to the story. It is a wonderful blend of romance, deception, history, and revenge, with a unique twist on the idea of time and fate. Throughout the book, I found myself rooting for the success of love and revenge. I really enjoyed my travel on the Journey, and I anxiously await the next one.

Terry Elton - The Journey
Excellent storytelling! The best read I've enjoyed for quite some time. Two people meet on a plane to NY, then decide to spend a bit of time together. It turns out to be a couple hundred years as they are swept back into colonial New York, where their bodies are inhabited by a tragic couple who, even in death, keep searching for each other. Using the present day couple's bodies, they are able to return to find and deal with those who had been responsible for their tragic endings. But the story isn't nearly that simple. It is light and romantic, dark and tragic, clear and mysterious, with more than one twist, leading to a conclusion which is satisfying, yet leaves us wanting to know more. The tale also takes us to 1760's London, to recognizable landmarks still existent in New York, and north to Indian villages. This book is in the tradition of Jack Finney, but set a century earlier, and while not strictly a time travel tale, will satisfy readers of romance, mystery, time travel, and historical fiction.

This made history fun!
"The Measly Middle Ages" is a really funny book! I can hardly believe it's true, after reading all those "boring history books!" Anywayz, I'll have to try and read the rest of the "Horrible Histories" series. Just can't wait!

These books got me hooked on History
I am really in the debt of Terry Deary. If it weren't for him and his wonderful "Horrible History" series, I would never have been introduced to history. I first read his work when I was only ten. Seven years later, I'm still enjoying his work. Yes, childish, but it is so much fun. I now want to teach, to make history fun to others. I wouldn't have known it possible if it weren't for Deary. Right next to my "Measly Middle Ages" and my "Woeful Second World War" is my John Keegen and William Manchester.

Onto "Measly Middle Ages". I really enjoy this book. Both irreverent and insightful at the same time, this book really shows the reader how horrible the middle ages actually were. I've read several works on the era, and this book nicely fills in the basic details, with out bogging it down with the details that us history dorks love. A great book for kids, a great book for people who both enjoy history and enjoy having fun.

A replacement for Harry Potter
This great, enchanting, and captivating series attracted me since i was a child. Not only is this an educating experience, this also provides information in a very enjoyable way. Attractive to the most intelligent minds, and interesting to every child, this makes a great gift and also a great reader.
It will make you smile and even laugh out loud as you read book after book. My only question is, why would they ever stop priting? I ask Scholastic to continue print so all who desire a book can recieve one. Thank you.
