Wayne
Wayne is a true suvivor. We have had numerous conversations across the kitchen counter about raising children in a safe nurturing home. I was aware of Wayne's hideous up bringing, but no where to the extent and the severeity of abuse. I have three children one of wich is a six year old boy. I had to put the book down after the first chapter. I was so disturbed. I was crying and thought I was going to be sick. After pulling myself together and hugging my children tightly I continued to read the book cover to cover. This is a really good, easy to read book. I highly recommend it. Thanks Wayne!!!!

I had no idea!
I picked up this book because Wayne is a business acquaintance and I had no idea! What a story! I couldn't put it down! It's amazing to see the man he has become today after reading all that he's been through. It's very scary to know that this type of thing happens to children everywhere. Congratulations Wayne!

Not to be missed!
As a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, I am deeply moved by the courage Wayne Theodore brings to survivors everywhere. This book is a catalyst for life change.

To the point Job Search
This is an excellent job search manual for anyone who wants to get it done right. It takes years of experiences and nets it down to simple, directed steps. If you are looking for a book that is "fluff reduced" this is the book for you. Highly recommend it!!

We enthusiastically recommend this book
Bookstall 99 is proud to add "The Accelerated Job Search" to our list of recommended business and professional books. We look at many books, recommend very few, and our reviewers must be in total agreement before we issue our approvals. This book we felt was exceptional in it's use of resources, in-depth research, timliness, and ease of reading. It is the only book on job search we are recommending. Dr. Wayne Ford has done an excellent job in producing a complete text for the job hunter, regardless of the level of experience. He logically lays out a sequential approach to getting organized, setting up an effective strategy, and following proven methods in achieving success. A particularly well thought out book with the reader in mind.

This system works!
The system and techniques laid out in this book really work. The proof is that it helped me find a very good job in a short amount of time. It gives you the best techniques available step by step. I admit I bought 7 books when I started looking for a job. This is by far the best one. Everything I did improved, from my resume to time management to organizing. I am enthusiastically recommending this book to any and all job hunters.

It is a handbook for power every quality professional
This is a very good handbook for not only power quality professional, but also electrical engineers. With well organized chapters, it covered comprehensive knowledge of power quality and relevant experience of authors. I really hope it can be translated into Chinese and let more power quality professionals share this valuable resource.

Well organized, complex and up-to-date.
I have recently asked some electrical engineers to recommend me a good book concerning Power Quality. Each of them gave me two or three recommendations and only "Electrical Power Systems Quality" by R. C. Dugan, M. F. McGranaghan, S. Santoso and H. W. Beaty appeared in all recommendations...
Indeed, it seems to me to be one of the best books about Power Quality I have ever read. It is very well organized, complex and up-to-date, and above all it is very useful for my research project as it offers clear descriptions (understanding) of all, important Power Quality issues. I would recommend it as a kind of compendium for engineers, designers and researchers that work not only with Power Quality but also with modern Electric Power Systems in general.

Great Book!
This is a must have for any professional involved in Power Quality. Not only are all the topics covered, they are explained in a way that is easy to read and understand.

Good writing style
I am in my first semester of an MBA program. The required text for my OR/MS class (An Introduction to Management Science, 10th ed., by Anderson, Sweeney, Williams) left something to be desired. I work with the SAS programming language, and happened to be discussing the SAS/OR product with a SAS technical support rep. He recommended this Winston text. I think it explains concepts much better than my Anderson text and has helped me a lot in my OR/MS class.

From Deterministic to Stochastic
This is one of the excellent industrial engineering books. From deterministic and simple linear programming to stochastic systems such as queueing models or dynamic programming, you may read and "learn" lots of things about OR. However, for stochastic cases you will need extra help for its matematics. But if you want to learn something about industrial engineering or something related with it, that is the book you must buy.

A great book for undergraduate engineering students
I have used this book for five years in my Operation Research classes. Its emphasis is in the mathematical modeling. The explanations are complete and clean. But, the exercises are the best part: a lot of examples and modeling exercises. A very good book for engineering students.

a palatable intro text
Used the text to teach intro this past fall. students found it readable (so did I). Will use it again.

this book really helps
This study guide was wonderful, it helped me to get an A in my general psychology class. If you read the material and then follow it up with answering the questions in the guide you too may do well in this class. This study guide is a must!!!

Excellent source of information
I used this book for a course called general psychology. This book is full of knowledge and explains each term in everyday language so the reader can grasp the concept. I felt that the book explained everything so well that I would easily got a A in the class without ever having to have the teacher explain anything to me.

Analyze Your Fighting
Published in Paperback by Target Systems Martial Arts (01 May, 1999)
Authors: Darin C. Waugh, Terri Carter, and Wayne Stanley
Amazon base price: $19.95
Average review score:

Analyze your fighting
A very comprehensive structured analysis of one's training and sparring agenda. Excellent for the novice, and very beneficial for the advanced fighter.

A Must!
This book is a must for the serious tournament fighter. Darin Waugh offers a comprehensive, yet easy to understand, analytical tool for those who wish to excel. A cobmination of work sheets and sound advice makes this a highly usable book. I highly recommend it!

Learning More About yourself...
Learning more about yourself, not only your fighting style, is a major strength in this work. The book is extremely detailed, and gives one plenty of food for thought. The charts and graphs included are very helpful, and the book's unsual format allows the reader to easily copy and use the information given so freely. This is indeed a quality work. The author's years of experience and rational mind shine through. Anyone intersted in martial arts, from beginner to black belt can use and benefit from "Analyze Your Fighting' by Darin Waugh. I can't wait to check out his software package. I give it a big thumbs up, and 5 stars.

Wonderful
I owned this book when it was simply a self-published, Acrobat Reader, file. We used the text as a basic textbook in an introductory course in Family Therapy. Dr. Perry writes in a straightforward, non-technical, yet thorough manner. The reader will find the "Living into the Lesson" exercises at the end of each chapter particularly helpful.

Dr. Perry had this text published at the repeated insistence of his students at the Southern Christian University. I am proud to have been one of them.

Worth the read
I hate reading textbooks because they are written so dryly. Dr. Perry's book is written in an interesting, understandable, and applicable way. I have found this book extremely easy to read, often reaching the end of a chapter far sooner than I anticipated. His examples and practical manner of writing make concepts become clear. He offers "how to" approaches in different styles for the different types of problems that counselors might encounter. Definately a tool to keep close at hand for any new counselor.

Basic Counseling Techniques: A Beginning Therapist's Toolkit
This book is an outstanding beginning help manual for therapists just starting out. The basics are easy understood in a concise and clear manner. Questions no one thought to answer in my training were answered in the book, I'd recommend this to counselor's of all levels.

Vital Resource For All Investigators
Having stumbled upon a copy of this book entirely by accident, I have since found Harm's work to be indispensible in my search for dread Cthulhu lore. With a simple A-Z format, the complier has recorded many useful references that are not confined to the Lovecraft canon of works (which are, of course, thinly veiled as fiction). The works of others with similar foresight and understanding are also used as sources. If Arkham University were ever to offer a paper in Cthulhu Investigation 101, this would certainly be on the required reading list.

The best single guide to the Cthulhu Mythos
Even though I've been reading Lovecraft, and the later contributors to the Mythos, for over a quarter of a century, there were still fine points that I could never quite get straight. This is understandable seeing how you often have to piece the fabric of the whole out of off-hand remarks and vague hints and references. In a way that does contribute to the mystery of the corpus, but it can be dissatisfying, if not maddening at times. That is why this excellently written and designed reference is truly a treasure to the serious reader.
Finally, I know the difference between the Elder Gods, the Great Old Ones, The Outer Gods, and the Elder Things. You finally get the associations in the pantheon spelled out. You know how Cthulhu, Tsathuggua, Hastur, and Ithaqua (the Great Old Ones) differ from Azathuth, Nyarlathotep, Shuh-Niggurath, and Yog-Sothoth (the Outer Gods.) And of course you learn never to associate Nodens, Kthanid, and Yag-Thaddag (the Elder Gods) with any of these.
Come to think of it I probably shouldn't have spoken these names aloud while I was typing. What is that noise in the

THE Handbook for Lovecraftians
I have been recommending this book to people I know since I first encountered the first edition. This second edition is expanded and revised, and is even more helpful to Call of Cthulhu gamers, keepers, and especially writers of Mythos fiction. I've been using it as source material for my own odd little tales since I began writing them. And while it is true that the author has been known to frequent some of the same newsgroups that I do, he did not pay me to say these things. The book is extensively indexed and cross-referenced, with a very helpful timeline of the Cthulhu Mythos toward the back. It is clearly written, has doses of the author's dry sense of humor, especially in his choice of a quote for the preface page, is quite attractively packaged, and will look very nice on your bookshelf next to the many volumes of HP Lovecraft that you should have if you're reading this.

ID only
Do not expect more than ID from the book. It is excellent at ID but that is all you will get for sure. I bought it for ID and it serves the purpose very well. One must also question the range maps since as explained in the text of the book they are compromised.

Finishing the Trilogy
It might interest the reader of this review (since your looking at the book) to know that while fresh water only represents about 1% of the available aquatic habitat on earth over half of the known species of fish live in it. I'll leave it up to you to find out why. Peterson Field Guides have a winning formula, find an expert, set them up with a good illustrator and see what comes out. This book finishes the trio that covers all of the fishes likely to be encountered by a North American fisherman, diver or naturalist. Like the Fishes of the Atlantic Coast and the Fishes of the Pacific Coast it is well organized, well written, all inclusive (of species) and as informative as space will allow. If you are curious about fishes in general or encounter fresh water fish with any kind of regularity you owe it to yourself to find out what they are. And, if you live in North America you should have this book.

A Field Guide to Freshwater Fishes
This book has informed me on the many fishes I catch ranging from California to New York. Every year when I go down to Arkansas I alwyas bring it with me on my fishing journeys so that I no whati am catching. It has over 700 illistrations and over 300 maps. In all of my searching for book this has been the most helpful book I have used. I recamend buying it for yourself. It will help you alot.

Doc Ford Rebuilt
Just as Doc goes through the process of recovery from failures in the previous adventure (Twelve Mile Limit) so the author seems in the process of recovering his hero. As the novel progresses, Doc has a growing awareness of his physical limitations and the effects of depression. Gradually he works his way through these problems while solving a mystery in familiar surroundings. This novel is built around the use of a cult as a front for development in the everglades, including but not limited to casino gambling. Doc Ford gets back to his roots in the sea of grass with a childhood friend whose husband has disappeared, the offspring of Tucker Gatrell's sidekick, Joe Egret, and old pal Tomlinson, whose undergraduate musings on an acid influenced philosophy paper have been posted and become an internet phenomenon.

White too has trimmed down. He plays his strong characters and has eliminated much of the annoying "black helicopter" paranoia of his recent novels. While there is still a lot of violence, but perhaps not as abrasive as in Twelve Mile Limit. I do, however, hope that the coda of a Nicaragua trip might come to an end here. As usual White could probably cut some of the repetition, but sometimes his pictures are right on, as in his account of the disorientating effect of airboats or the case of a fine description of the buzzard trees along the old Tamiami Trail. All in all, it's a good three day read.

Doc Ford is Back!
Trouble is afoot again for Doc Ford in this tenth adventure for the marine biologist from Dinkin's Bay on Florida's Gulf Coast. Doc's childhood pal and one-time lover Sally Carmel arrives at his stilt house with a tale of a missing husband, presumed dead after a nighttime fall off of a boat while on a fishing trip. But is he really dead, and who is the menacing guy shadowing Sally's every move? The trail leads to the husband's business partner, a crooked religious cult leader who is cooking up some devilish plans to replenish his personal coffers. Bhagwan Shiva has no intention of waiting for the afterlife to reap a heavenly reward, and if murder and mayhem-not to mention major environmental damage to the unique and fragile Everglades-is necessary, so be it. Doc is facing some personal demons of his own, as depressed and out of shape, he confronts the price he is paying for continually camouflaging his own essentially predatory nature. The Everglades, eloquently rendered by White's vivid descriptions, offer a parallel reflection of the negative consequences of trying to impose civilization upon the natural order. Through a maelstrom of impressively complex physical combat, a nighttime encounter with a deadly bull shark, death-defying air boat hijinks, earthquake tremors, high explosives and a volcano, White delivers an increasingly complex portrait of Doc Ford and his hippie pal Tomlinson. But long time fans have come to expect more than just great storytelling, and Everglades does not disappoint, as White peppers his narrative with impressively researched information about Florida's Indian history, the ecology of the Everglades, primitive human brain physiology and wrestling, among many other topics. Read this book and you will know some terrific bars and restaurants to visit on Florida's Gulf Coast; how to make a great rum drink and the special brand of Nicaraguan rum to use; which boat engine manufacturer is finding favor with fishing guides these days; the legend of the Swamp Ape; and what exactly the witch's soldiers are chanting in The Wizard of Oz. A brilliant and amazing ride right to the last page, Everglades will leave you eagerly awaiting your next encounter with Doc Ford.

A backwater "grand slam"
For those of us lucky enough to live in the Boca Grande to Sanibel area, Randy's descriptions and characters always bring a smile or a fond memory. For those who aren't so familiar with the area, the author weaves a wonderful plot with colorful characters and his own brand of common sense philosophy that rings true with "islanders" near and far. Once you get to know Doc Ford and Tomlinson, you will want to read the other books in this unique series. True entertainment coupled with skilled prose...take it to the beach or the lake or Central Park!!!
