Great user-friendly reference for vet students
This book is great when you just need the down and dirty on a disease, and don't want to wade through a 50-page description in the heavy-duty references. It was also very useful during second-year, when you're just trying your hand at figuring out the diseases, and need a little confirmation of your diagnosis and treatment plans. Or, when you're totally clueless and need help get started in the right direction. Fair warning, faculty usually won't accept it as 'reference' especially if you're trying to argue a point, but during a recent open-book final, I brought mine in anyway and there was practically a mob of other students rushing over to check out one thing or another.

5 Minute Veterinary Consult: Canine and Feline (CD-ROM for W
Tilley's 5 -Minute Veterinary Consult book has been an extremely valuable asset to my library. When the CD-Rom came out, it was even more useful in that immediate and current information can be retrieved much faster than picking up a book. It is faster since topics related to a case can be searched for and reviewed with a touch of your mouse. This information can be quickly printed and given to clients to further understand their pets diagnosed condition. This printed information alone is priceless! A client that has something in hand and can follow and confirm their veterinarian's diagnosis and treatment, helps establish the trust a client needs to have in their pets doctor.

I reach for my 5- Minute Vet Consult CD-rom more than any other resource in my library. It is very accurate and has a surprising amount of detail to assist in the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of each topic. The drug search is a very helpful formulary for those quick reference needs. The most recent CD has a good number of cytology and radiographic images attached to the topics. These can be enlarged to see more closely the great detail.

In my opinion the 5-Minute Veterinary Consult CD-Rom was one of the best reference investments for my practice. It is definitely the most utilized reference I have. Time is money and this has saved me many steps and thus time and money. Every practice needs this reference without doubt!

Kim Phillips
My vet suggested me getting this book (I have worked for him for 6 years) and I am glad I did! It has 4 different sections in it, "Presenting Problems and Physical Findings", "Diagnostic-Laboratory Tests", "Diagnostics-Electrocardiography", and "Diseases and Clinical Syndromes". Each section has detailed information on each finding, usually two pages per each problem, which covers the Basics (definition, signalment, causes and risk factors), Diagnosis, Treatment, Medications, Follow-up and a Miscellaneous. There is plenty of information in the Appendix section of the book as well. Including a Formulary, Conversion Tables and more! I would highly recommend it to vets, students and vet techs.

Yard Sale Find
I paid 25 cents for this book and it was the best quarter I ever spent. This book grabs you at the beginning and does notlet go of you to well after you are done reading it. The subject matter is so topical that the 22 years from original press does not matter at all. Buy it used, find in in the library, or if you have money to burn buy it from a Zshop. You won't be disappointed.

A riveting and nail-biting tale
Readers of Frederick Forsyth, Jack Higgins and Tom Clancy must get their hands on this brilliantly written thriller of a potential nuclear catastrophe in NY city. This book seems especially plausible today and adds to the impression. The characters are believable and the plot unfolds superbly, no let-ups or loose strings! A must read for all thriller readers, you will not be disapppointed. I read this book at a stretch and it is at the top of my all-time favorites list (and I've read quite a few thrillers!)

How remote? Still? After 9/11?
The prospect of an event is everyone's worst nightmare. Yet it is precisely what the think tanks responsible for national security have on their agenda, and have for years...what to do...if. The prospect was so daunting that the US and USSR for decades pulled out all the stops to insure that a nuclear explosion would never be initiated at the expense of either side, yet ironically devised every diabolical delivery vehicle, intellectual platform and system capable of destroying NY or MOSCOW in a NY minute. Now it is horribly realistic, save the inability to acquire and successfully detonate one (but would need several to probably assure that a success would be achieved, notwithstanding discovery of one or more attempts)Fanaticism is unpredictible. Can you match unpredictibility with effective unpredictibility? An extraordinary look into a fictional story which we should hope never strays from that genre.

The Bible; God's Word for the Bibicaly-Inept
Wonderful! I used it a lot when teaching my sunday school class the big picture of the Bible. Great book!

Excellent
When you lack a framework it's very difficult to understand anything. The interesting decorations of a home would mean nothing if there were no framework to attatch them too! This is what this book has done for me, given me a framework to attach these stories too. Many of the stories in the bible come to life when you know and understand what happened before and after and how the people who had the experiences might have thought. It really has brought to life the power of God for me and his complete plan from the beginning of the Bible to the end! I would recommend this to any level of Christian. I have been a Christian for 15 years and this has been an excellent tool for both learning and better equiping me to witness.

great for beginners and old-timers alike!
I'm enjoying this book so much because it gives key points and lessons so clearly that it makes me eager to learn and know more. It has made me eager to read my bible again.

Every Self Employed Person Should Read This Book!!
Although it is written from a Biblical perspective, EVERY self employed person needs to read this book. It is packed with common sense business principles which, in this world-gone-mad with secular humanism, most of us have lost sight of. It doesn't matter what your faith is... even an athiest would greatly benefit from the business principles taught in this book. It turned my little mom-and-pop business, and my life, around to the direction it should have taken in the first place.

Tested over Time
I read an earlier version 10 years ago and tried many of the concepts. They were straight forward and easy to understand. I just read the latest version and it stands the test of time.

I give away 12 a month
This book is so good that I give away 10-20 of them a month. I set people up in business and I send it to all my new dealers. Read it and you will know how GOD wants you to run HIS business.

An excellent, effective study on prayer
Prayer is key to a successful relationship with God. I read this book 15 years ago when it first came out (in the workbook form and video). It changed my life! The study on the Names of God helped me in worship. As I began to understand the different aspects of Jehovah God (i.e. Jehovah Tsidkenu - Jehovah is our Righteousness - He has made us righteous through Christ and his sacrifice on the cross. He no longer sees our sin, but only the Blood of the sacrifice, Jesus, who pays the price, makes us righteous and which allows us into the presence of a holy and pure God), worship songs came alive for me as they express the many aspects of God to us. Take the time to go through this book and watch your life in God mature!

Could You Not Tarry One Hour
I read the book several years ago and found it to be a wonderful study plus it's a marvel when you use it in your prayer life. I have been hunting this book to read again and to give as a gift and haven't been able to find it. So glad to know it's still available. Thank YOU

Is your spiritual life BORING?
Excellent book on prayer and its far-reaching influence. Well-written with some humor. Recommended for middle-of-the-road Christians who need a boost up the spiritual ladder. If you're stuck in a spiritual malaise, resolve to begin a regular prayer routine.

The Day the Music Died: The Last Tour of Buddy Holly, the Big Bopper, and Ritchie Valens

The best book I've seen on the subject
Lehmer's book is downright exhaustive in the coverage of the fateful Feb. 3 1959 plane crash that killed Holly, Valens, and Richardson.

I appreciated the detail and content of this book a lot. Being from Iowa, I have been interested in the Winter Dance party, and accounts of the crash for a very long time. (In fact, I just visited the Surf Ballroom and Mason City Airport while returning from a recent weekend vacation.)

Lehmer's book is very well-balanced, with chapters devoted to each of the three headliners. And it also has detailed plane crash info as well as analysis of the official CAB report.

In my opinion, easily the best book on "The Day The Music Died".

A Detailed Story of the Winter Dance Party
Author Larry Lehmer has provided readers with a very detailed story of the events that led up to the deaths of early rock and roll stars Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, J. P. Richardson, and pilot Roger Peterson. Individual chapters are provided on each individual and a thorough description of the various cities the rock stars visited during the Winter Dance Party in the Upper Midwest beginning in January of 1959. Due to inadequate bus transportation with little or no heat, the three singers decided to charter an airplane from Clear Lake, Iowa, to Fargo, North Dakota, for their next performance in Moorhead, Minnesota, to arrive early and get some needed rest. The crash of the airplane was due to poor flying conditions and the inadequate skills of the pilot in flying by instruments. The author explores other theories such as a fight on the plane or, incredibly, Buddy Holly shooting the pilot. Author Lehmer also provides a great deal of information on the airplane that was used and what has become of the arenas the singers used for their performances in each of the visited cities. Numerous photos of the singers during this Winter Dance Tour and of the crash site are also provided. Some readers may feel they are being told more than they want to know about this subject, but the author has done an incredible job in covering this story of this incident and what rock and roll was like during the late 1950's.

Excellent book about rock and roll's central event
This is a very excellent book about the Last Tour of the Three Stars and the plane crash that Don McLean dubbed "the day the music died" (and it did). I would give this book 8 to 10 stars if I could. I remember reading about the event in the evening paper on the day it happened (Feb. 3, 1959, near Mason City, Iowa). When one has read as much about the history of rock and roll as I have, one realizes that the most influential person in the history of the genre was Buddy Holly, and his death is the central event of the music's story. The losses of Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper (J. P. Richardson) were also very devastating to rock and roll.

One feels great sympathy and pity for pilot Roger Peterson, whose unwise decisions and lack of skill were major contributing factors (along with the weather) in causing the crash.

Awesome DVD, beautiful book!
This book will take you back to Burning Man but it's the DVD that I want to rave about. Watch it over and over. Beautifully done. A wonderful effort. Thanks to Holly and thanks to Bam Bam!

Full-color visuals and personal memories
Based on the images of Holly Kreuter, Drama In The Desert: The Sights And Sounds Of Burning Man is a book and DVD set collecting full-color visuals and personal memories drawn from the harsh desert of Black Rock City, Nevada. Capturing the sometimes quizzical, sometimes cruel, sometimes dramatic art and documentary efforts of seventy contributors, Drama In The Desert is strongly recommended as an eclectic, unique, and vibrant experience impressing its fiery artistic message upon the reader's spirit.

So great I bought 7 copies for gifts and one for myself!
I bought your book for my son's 22nd birthday. He loved the book so much that I bought myself a copy. Last weekend I watched the DVD and was amazed at how beautiful the photography and music is. I went to Burning Man for the past two years and the experience has completely changed my life. I get inspired by the creativity of all the beautiful people that work so hard to make it the greatest art show in the world. I decided to share my experiences with my relatives this Christmas by sending them all Drama in the Desert as presents, so I ordered another six copies. Thank you for everything. You are an amazing group of artists.

Finding God

Life Changing
Well, I'm not sure that I have the ability to express my sentiments and thoughts any better than the other reviewers here, but with the hope of perhaps affecting one reader, I'll share a slightly different experience...

I read this book at a time when my life was falling apart. My marriage was in shambles, my business was bordering bankruptcy, my faith was wavering, and I didn't know what else to do or where else to turn. I didn't know whether or not to pray scriptures, get on my knees 3 times/day, get counseling, rebuke Satan, start fasting, give more money to church, or drop down and just want to die.

The point is that many of these things are well and good in and of themselves, but they have very little to do with understanding and trusting God. He's not a magic Geenie, He's not here for our personal material comforts, and much of today's teachings about God seem to lead us toward Him with the expectation that He'll solve our problems and make things better here on earth.

Dr. Larry Crabb truly puts life's difficulties into perspective and certainly helped me to turn to the Lord and turn away from trying to use "tricks" to get Him to do what I want. That alone is worth all of the pain and suffering I've been through.

Hope this helps. God Bless.

One of those books that drives it home
Finding God speaks honestly and openly about the pain and hardship in our circumstances. Larry Crabb writes about the hurt in the loss of his brother in a plane crash and how this pain has impacted his walk with Christ. He lends his own insights as to the why and the answers God won't provide as well as what He does provide.

The Unexpected Answer to "Why"
I read this challenging book during a time of personal hurt and questioning. It helped me see that the answers to questions concerning why things happen as they do are not as important as the Christ who came as The Answer. I learned that our feeble attempts to manipulate and control God by our prayers and whining will not work -- we must accept the fallen-ness of our world and through faith in God's ultimate goodness we find Him. Very thought provoking and inciteful.

This book is phenemonal !
Two thumbs up! Finding an investment book that actually makes sense to me is a rarity. This might actually be the first that actually helps me make money. I would recommend it to any investor, not just the neophytes. It is written in an easy-to-read fashion, but is jam packed with information that anyone can use. In fact, I'm going to give it to everyone I know as a Christmas present. This is the best book I've read all year. Buy it. Read it. Use it.

Really helpful & suprising
I read this on a flight overseas. It helped me to understand what I've been doing wrong over the past few years. As a doctor I have very little time to commit to investing however this was without a doubt one of the most useful and practical books I've ever read on investing. I only wish I'd gotten it sooner, it would have stopped me from making a lot of mistakes! Easy to apply and gave me some real peace of mind.

Easier than studying
I read this book to see if I could get more out of it than I was getting at my college investments class. It actually helped me to understand the concepts the complicated text books included. As a student I can see this book being very useful to anybody learning about investing. The graphical depictions are awesome. Really interesting and practical, I'm sending this to my Mom to help her out. Now all I need is some money to do it with!

Absolute Honesty: Building a Corporate Culture That Values Straight Talk and Rewards Integrity

Read this book. Spread the message to others.
Recent corporate scandals have shaken confidence in leadership and the ethical underpinnings of the business world. Without significant change, we risk increasing problems in the years ahead. It's time for leaders to step forth, declare a commitment to ethical performance, and set the example.

"Absolute Honesty" tells it like it is, and like it must be. Johnson and Phillips, management consultants who have been inside and seen how things work, have produced a powerful tool. This easy-to-read book emphasizes that no one argues against corporate integrity, but some executives need support on HOW to apply the principles. Readers of "Absolute Honesty" will learn how to build the right kind of cultural infrastructure.

The authors argue that too many companies adhere to what they call "the Kumbaya Syndrome---embrace all decisions, no matter how stupid or unethical; smile and sing the company campfire song." It's too easy to just go along, and confronting or fighting superiors or The System is frowned upon.

The alternative is to apply their Six Laws of Absolute Honesty: Tell the Truth, Tackle the Problems, Disagree and Commit, Welcome the Truth, Reward the Messenger, and Build a Platform of Integrity. A chapter on each of the laws explains what needs to be done, with effective supporting material including advice, anecdotes, and a style that makes the whole process comfortable and acceptable.

The book is organized into three parts. The first part, The Challenge, includes chapters on The Naked Truth and A Culture of Absolute Honesty. These 52 pages set the stage nicely for the rest of the book. Part 2 presents the Six Laws, with engaging detail. Part 3 is aptly entitled "Where Do We Go from Here?" The final two chapters discuss building an ethical infrastructure and Key Points to Help Your Implementation Efforts. Lots of good, practical advice here. The book concludes with Notes and a good index.

You'll find this book to be a disarmingly fast read. There's a personal sort of feeling that draws the reader into the subject and keeps the flow moving. This book is one you'll keep in your office-for reference and to send a message to all who enter.

Not For the Faint of Heart
Absolute Honesty is not a book for the faint of heart. It takes courage to bring integrity to work. It takes commitment to long term, sustainable success to build a corporate culture founded on honesty. If you value this kind of courage and commitment, this is the book for you. It is practical, with loads of examples of what it takes to be honest at work, the obstacles that prevent us from being honest, and tips for overcoming these obstacles. These stories and examples come from genuine organization experience - no irrelevant academic theories here. The Six Laws of Absolute Honesty are a clear and compelling distillation of a complex bundle of information, and the last chapter on implementation is solid and helpful (and too often missing from corporate culture books).

And - especially rare in books of this genre - it is very well written. Practically a page turner!

Following a year in which Time magazine's "persons" of the year were whistle blowers who risked their careers and reputations to tell the truth, this is a timely and important book. Strongly recommended for everyone who cares about ethics in the workplace.

A Road Map for Organizational Culture
Finally a book that takes the black magic out of organizational development. Beautifully written. Easy to read. A must for HR professionals and executives who are trying to create an organization capable of thriving in turbulent times. Absolute Honesty pulls together the various concepts and processes needed to define and drive an enabling business culture. It then provides a road map for discovering the cultural attributes need in a given business, communicating the expected attitudes and behaviors, and ultimately walking the talk.
