Great Book
I loved this book. I can't wait until the next one in the series is out. Not only did the book keep me totally wrapped up in the story, but it was masterfully written. I also loved the fact that it was short enough to read in two or three sittings. Mr. Hillhouse hit the nail on the head with this book, I now have an another author to add to my favorites list. If you want to read an entertaining book that will make you keep reading, this is the book for you.

INTRIQUING!
This is a great story! It kept me guessing and turning the pages, laughing and thinking, intriqued and entertained. Cody is a new breed of detective, the cyber sleuth, and his delicate intrusions into computers (sometimes called hacking), is very enlightening. It gives me similar misgivings toward computers that the movie Jaws did toward the ocean. Can't wait to see what the next in this series brings.

DELIGHTFUL
A very entertaining, lighthearted mystery, which kept me interested and amused from start to finish. I'd love to live next door to Cody! I'm really looking forward to the next book in this series, and am searching for any other work by this author, as he is a creative talent.

wow...
just the memories of this book bring tears to my eyes...it was one of my favorites when i was young. it's a great story. loved it.

As a teacher I give this an A+.
This book is wonderful. As a second grade teacher, I read it so often to my class that the paper back book pages have fallen out. I'm purchasing the hard back version now.

This is a sweet book!
I love this book! I begged my mom to read it to me over and over again when I was little. Now I am going to be a teacher and I plan on having this book in my classroom at all times! It would be an excellent book to read to a child going on his/her first sleep over. But, actually, I think anyone (child or adult) would enjoy this book.

A great book!
I really enjoyed this book on Travler's tales from Ireland. It had some great stories. You really got to know about the country, and it's people from reading this. I highly recommend it.

The Sub-title says it all.
This book consists of a wide variety of stories from the humourous to the profound to the historical. There are stories that you want to sit down with a friend and read it to them: specically, "A Pub Fairy Tale" by Pamela Ramsey tells of a visit to an Irish pub by the author who wanted to take in the "ambiance" of the music and dancing. She hoped that she would be asked to dance, but as closing time drew near, her hopes seemed slim. Then an energetic old gentleman finally asked her, and she describes it this way: "I could feel the other dancers watching us, nodding, laughing, giving us encouragement, but the old man and I had eyes only for each other. We were two odd strangers caught in a moment of tenderness. A moment of magic. I was Cinderella, the belle of the ball, dancing with my Prince - an old, almost-blind man, wearing a black beret." Beautiful. Another story tells of the estrangement of a son and his father when he married outside the faith, and how, when the father died, a reconciliation of sorts was established with his brother with they go hiking on the hills where there father had hiked with them, and how he came to understand his father's secret strength and connection with the isle: "Walking the Kerry Way", by Tim O'Reilly. This brief description of Mr. O'Reilly's story does it a gross injustice, because there is a depth of feeling that only the author can convey. The brief biographical descriptions at the end of each story are informative and to the point. At the end of the book, there is an extensive, "The Next Step" which includes a number of websites, and a good bibliography. The book is well put together, and succeeds very well in conveying "true stories of life on the emerald isle."

Descriptions pull you into the landscape
Like other books in the Travelers Tales series - this book gives excellent insight into the Irish way of life and provides excellent reading (I am slightly biased, having written one of the short pieces that is included - titled Cycling to Dun Aengus). The overall quality of the book is excellent and the descriptions pull you right into the landscape and geography of Ireland - from sitting in smoky pubs to driving past weather beaten coasts. Some of these pieces are also hilarious. Highly recommended not only as a prerequisite to a visit - but for a great read. TJLMullen@cs.com

a blantantly honest, in-your-face commentary on today's kids
Larry Clark books? how many are in print? 1. Tulsa 2. Teenage Lust 3. Kids 4. Heroine (Jan. 2000) 5, anything else? please help...i'm desparate! thanks. peony@compac.net

The Real Thing
I think that this book was great.it tells about the dangers of sex and drugs....me being a teenager it really tought me a lesson.

The truth exposed
When a book or a movie can both be as true as the world that we live in, than you know that it has succeeded. Such is the case with KIDS. As a teenager growing up in the rural life, you don't see very many pieces of art that reflect upon what truly is happening in society with the younger generations. While critics might say that it is too "touchy" or "sick", they don't realize that this is what is really happening in America today and must either deal with it, orchange their opinion on it because what they call this movie or book, is what they call American teenage society.

BOOGETY BOOGETY BOOGETY TO THE CHECKOUT!
I read books at the gym while getting my cardio in, and this book was an awesome read! I'd start, and the next thing I'd know it would be an hour later, and couldn't wait to get back to the gym to keep reading it.

Larry Mac is why you love NASCAR- Hard working, tell-it-like-it-is. I loved his stories about "visiting" the NASCAR trailer, finding that extra edge, the drivers he raced with, and his account of his career and history with racing from the beginning to the broadcast booth. I have great appreciation for someone who worked that hard, with that much dedication, intensity and passion.

Larry Mac tells it like it is, and like the other reviews, he does it with professionalism and dings the people needing dinged, even himself without being malicious. That is what I liked most about the book-Larry's way of telling the story how it should be told, not censored. It reads like Larry is sitting next to you, telling you the stories.

Ironically, we heard at the Winston Cup preview after meeting some crew members of various teams, how some people in NASCAR's negative attitude is towards Benny Parsons, only to come home and read what he said to Larry Mac. Well Larry, it's the passionate and colorful people like you and DW that makes the Fox broadcasts so awesome and fun to watch. You "done good"

TV Sports
I really enjoyed this book. It was interesting, fun, and full of anecdotes about NASCAR. His "Big Picture" includes the 18 months he spent with my favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt. Part of the book is what we see on TV, but the better part is how NASCAR and broadcasting work behind the scenes, and what it does to family and friend relationships. A really great read. I didn't want to put it down.

Great Insider Info
Larry Mac's story of his decades in NASCAR is a true joy to read. He doesn't hold back but is not also out to flame everyone.

He tells it like it is with everything from drivers to owners to how he bent or broke the rules.

All in all, its a great insiders perspective of the sport.

Latter-Day Christianity: 10 Basic Issues
Published in Paperback by F.A.R.M.S. (1998)
Authors: Robert L. Millet, Noel B. Reynolds, and Larry E. Dahl
Amazon base price: $7.95

Quick road map to the Church of Jesus Christ.
This book is a slender, fully illustrated introduction to the Christianity and Christology of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The ten issues are:

1)Are Latter-day Saints Christian?
2)What do Latter-day Saints believe about God?
3)Do latter-day Saints believe in the Bible and biblical Christianity?
4)Does God speak to his children in ways other than through the Bible?
5)Do Latter-day Saints believe that men and women can become Gods?
6)What do latter-day Saints mean when they say that God was once a man?
7)What do Latter-day Saints believe a person must do to be saved?
8)Do the doctrines and practices of the LDS Church change?
9)Ho do latter-day Saints believe they should live their lives?
10)Why do Latter-day Saints try to convert others?

I hope this gets your interest whetted. Robert L. Millet, the Dean of Religion at Brigham Young University-Provo and Dr. Noel Reynolds, an academic vice president at Brigham young University--Provo, are the editors, with several contributors from the Religious Faculty at BYU.

This booklet allows us to speak for ourselves, unfiltered and undistorted. It serves as a great introduction, a guide map if you will, for several points of doctrine and theology that are important for the Church of Jesus Christ. It is written at the high school level, and has beautiful eye-catching pictures. It is a booklet written for everyone.

Very good info from the source
I'm not a Mormon (Evangelical Christian, actually) and I think this is a great intro to LDS doctrine for Christians curious about Mormonism.

If you want to know the true LDS beliefs you should get them from a person who believes in Mormonism, not from a person who thinks Mormonism is a terrible cult. This book quickly cuts to the chase on some of the more controversial issues. This way you can make your own opinion, not get railroaded into a sensational one.

Excellent, Non-Proselytizing, Concise
This is, for its size, an excellent little book that gives a solid, concise overview of Latter-day Saint belief on several issues that almost invariably come up when non-Mormons are asking questions about Mormonism. It's perfect for giving to curious neighbors, co-workers, etc. It makes no attempt to convert, but merely to explain. Very, very well done.

A Must for Whitetail Hunters
This book is great. The stories behind each magnificent animal makes you feel like you were there on the hunt. Very insightful info on the Big Bucks that have been made famous. I am looking forward to the second book Legendary Whitetails II. You won't be disappointed with this one. My hat is off to Dick Idol!!!

Legendary Whitetails
If you are a deer hunter-buy this book! The short stories about the 40 greatest deer of all time and photos of these beasts are enough to make the heart of the most seasoned deer hunter thump with buck fever. Since my purchase of this book, I have bought three others for my three lucky hunting buddies. What a book!

It can happen to anyone!
Reading this book was enlightening. I came away with the realization that what happened to these people can happen to anyone. Most of the people in the book were ordinary people that just went out hunting. Some were "trophy Hunters" but many were just subsistence meat hunters that were out looking for food to feed their families. Many of them would typically have been happier shooting a nice young fork horn or a doe.

Anyone that is a Whitetail deer hunter would enjoy this book thoroughly. I could not put it down once I started reading it. I can't wait for volume two.

A Must Read if You Loved the Movie!
Written by the screenwriter and director of "A Knight's Tale" this book provides a fascinating insider's look at the film's creation. The 24 page photo album includes rare candid shots of the film's cast and crew.

The story is a classic underdog tale with likeable characters. I particularly enjoyed reading the scenes that were ultimately not included in the film. Although I have watched the movie several times... these passages added a depth to the characters that made kept the storyline fresh for me.

Any fan of the movie will relish the complete presentation
The romantic film A Knight's Tale was shot in Prague and here receives its own book which blends a 24-page color photo album of scenes with the shooting script for the film. Any fan of the movie will relish the complete presentation.

He Will Rock You
This was an awesome movie that I absolutely loved, so of course, I had to buy and read the screen play. Brian Helgeland was a brilliant author to create such a wonderful and fun script that everyone could enjoy. It was one of the funniest movies I ever saw and the script was also, undoubtedly hilarious. This story has it all: action, comedy, and romance. A story to please all.

Death is a great teacher.
Larry Rosenberg, a respected meditation teacher, insightfully succeeds in bringing death to life in this meaningful new book. "The truth is," he observes, "death is not waiting for us at the end of the road, it is walking with us the whole time," from the moment we are born (p. 13). Unfortunately, readers who are uncomfortable confronting the unavoidable realities of aging, illness, and death may find this book morbid or depressing. Instead, however, Rosenberg encourages us to view death as "a great teacher . . . it teaches us how to live life" (p. 107).

"Death is here now," Rosenberg writes (p. 80). Everyone must die (p. 87). Our remaining life span is decreasing continually (p. 88). Death will come regardless of whether or not we are prepared (p. 91). Human life expectancy is uncertain (p. 93). There are many causes of death (p. 95). The human body is very fragile (p. 97). Our wealth cannot save us (p. 99). Our loved ones cannot help us (p. 101). Nor can our body help (p. 102). When viewed correctly, Rosenberg observes, these facts can become "doorways to liberation" (p. 141) that "make life more precious. They show us that every moment is a gift" (p. 97).

This book reads easily, and is filled with both interesting anecdotes and profound insights. Reading it could change your life.

G. Merritt

A life changing book
As a new practitioner to the Buddhist way of life, I felt that this book distilled several books/teachings I've encountered on finding happiness in the present. I heartily recommend it to anyone living - especially those living in a fast-paced society.

living in the light of death
This book is brilliant..........using death awareness as subject, the author shows us how we can actually live in freedom now, today. His clear, experiential understanding of the dharma is revealed over and over again throughout and his convicted and loving embrace of it is an amazing gift, given graciously, to us all. One of the finest dharma books ever written!
