One of our favorites...find the cat!
4 ("and three quarters!") year old Maria and I love this book. It's one of our favorites. The illustrations are great, the rhymes are clever, and there is a cat to find in each picture!

Get the whole series!
The "Maxi" books are a wonderful series for girls and boys. Our daughter first fell in love with the taxi dog and his friend Jim when she was 4. Don't miss out on all three books in this series: "The Adventures of Maxi," "Maxi The Hero" and "Maxi The Star" (when he goes to Hollywood to shoot a commercial). Great art work accompanies the fun stories.

My five-year-old daughter loves this book. So do I.
My five-year-old daughter loves this book. So do I. It's great to read, has a nice rhythm to it, and the art work is fantastically surreal. There's a moral to the story but the authors don't lay it on too thick. In fact, "crime doesn't pay" is just part of the plot. The real theme is that life in the big city can be bright, cheerful, intriguing, and there is a certain comfort in a routine job peppered with small adventures

Worth Every penny!
I love this book. It is an enjoyable read in addition to a great reference tool. I use it on an almost daily basis. It is a great place to find ways of improving your diet, finding healthy recipies, or just looking for something new and interesting to snack on. I have shown this book to several people and they have immediately ordered their own copies. Buy it - use it - you won't regret it.

A "user friendly" guide to nutrition
Maximum Food Power for Women taught me how to make positive changes in my eating habits that I can actually live with. Not only does it tell the reader which foods to eat, but it provides sample menus and recipes to incorporate these foods into your daily life. Reading the book actually motivated me to change my eating habits, and the recipes are so good, that my whole family is eating healthier. I keep going back and reading; learning more and getting more excited about good health and nutrition.

Maximum Food Power for Women
This is the best book I have ever read and used daily. It has a wealth of information about how to eat sensibly and how to incorporate all of the healthy power foods into your diet without denying yourself. It has gotten me on track with my eating habits and exercise. Whenever I want a healthy meal or snack I just open this book! I keep it right on my end table so I can consult it daily. I love it so much and find it so helpful, I am purchasing one for my Mother! You can't go wrong with this book!

An excellent shower gift
I have given this book to two different expectant mom's. Both new mom's have told me how wonderful a support this book has been in dealing with their own concerns about their own changes. They liked the way they could focus on specific concerns using the straight forward question and answer format.

The Essential "Bible" for Every New Mom
A friend and I were looking for a gift for a first-time mother when we came upon The New Mom's Companion. As a mother and a psychiatrist, I know first and second hand how much a woman's life drastically changes when she has her first baby. This attractive book insightfully and sensitively touches on all of the many concerns I had when I first became a mother, from internal, identity issues to changes in my marriage and other relationships. The Question and Answer format is easy to use and allows a harried mom to focus right in on the issues coming up for her at that moment. The index takes her quickly to where she needs to go. Every new mom desperately needs the reassuring tone and easily found answers to her questions. This book helps a new mother feel confident, normalizes what feels abnormal, and helps her to know when her emotions or behaviors indicate that she needs professional help. (With all of the most welcome current media attention on post-partum depression and psychosis, this is particularly valuable.) I wish I'd had The New Mom's Companion when I was a first time mom, and it will be the book I give to every new mom I know.

A "must have" for New Mom's
I am a first time mother and received this book when my son was three weeks old and it really helped my sanity. With the new found awareness of postpartum psychosis this book is a must for all new moms. When I brought my son home from the hospital I had such a swing of emotions (some to embarassing to share) that I thought I made a big mistake having a child! It was difficult adapting to this "little bundle of joy" let alone coming to grips with my new role as mother. I mean wasn't this supposed to be the best thing? Well, when I picked up The New Mom's Companion and read through the questions that pertained to me I felt not only relieved but confident that I didn't make the biggest mistake in my life. What I liked most about this book was the format of question and answer it let's you browse the questions that pertain to you. The great thing is that this book not only validates your feelings and let's you know they are normal but offers some great coping advice. I can't thank these women enough for taking the time to put out such a great book for such a great cause our children and their hard working Mom's.

Pretty funny book!
Well aside from the fact that Greg makes fun of my favorite Northwest clothing outfitter, Filson, its great! I'm a newcomer but can pass for a native as I've been here long enough to grow moss on my toes and I still found some interesting facts and tidbits that I either once knew and have forgotten or maybe never knew. Anyone from California thinking about moving North should read this. We get cloudy and rainy weather, this is a temperate rainforest after all so don't move here and then complain about the weather. Get some goretex and some wool and some waxed cotten coats and get outside and do something! (like split a cord of wood! Go Fishing! Go for a hike!, Go skiing.) Contary to popular myths, skin does not disolve when wet. It is possible to be warm and comfortable when out in in the rain. The sun will come out for good by Mid July and stays out until Late September and early October. Until then work hard and save your vacation days.

A Northwest Must Have
I've lived in Oregon my entire life and still discovered some great insights in Mr. Eiden's humorous (and educational) review of the Northwest. I particularly enjoyed "how to order a latte." A great gift, too.

Upfront seriousness & laid back humor
I have been around one half of the world four different times and I wish that I read this book before my travels. It goes beyond essential, consider it a manual. Gregg should go international.

As deep as the ocean itself
In a time of mushrooming materialism and tearing technomania, this delightful book for all ages pays homage to life's precious treasures that can be so easily taken for granted if we are not careful to notice them. Debra Frasier's enchanting collages combine cutouts, photographs, and words to eloquently remind us of the simple pleasures that are right under our noses if we remain open and take a moment to appreciate them.

A joyous celebration of simple treasures.
This is a very sweet book for any age, any setting, to read over and over. I'm buying a stack to use as gifts.

Awsome Photos - Great lesson for kids!
Awsome photos and collage art make this a visually stimulating book for children. The second graders in my class loved it and clearly understood the deeper meaning of appreciating all of the gifts we receive each day - sunrise, air, water, etc.

Easy Read & Informative
In comparison to other books that I have read and/or bought, this one is highly recommended as a must read. The book is informative in so many ways. Example: the chapter on zoning was to the point minus legal jargon; and the usual redundant babble that is of no value for being an entrepreneur, it's only to fill up the page. I've found that most books on being an entrepreneur graze over the topics and don't get to the meat of the subject, but this one does, which is what I wanted and needed. I'm the type of person that needs specifics and for things to be in plain terms - - I'm not one for beating around the bush. This book is a definite keeper, and I use it often as a reference at home and in my new company as an entrepreneur.

Where was this book 2 yrs ago?!?
I've bought a lot of supposed "entrepreneur guide" books that have not been a waste of my money and I started to pass this one up. The lady at the book fare convinced me (after 20 mins) and I'm glad I made the investment. I'm writing this review because this book was a God-send for me, and I KNOW it will be for you. It's plain, simple and straight to the point; no unnecessary jargon, no dictionary or attorney needed for comprehension. I followed the steps listed and believe it or not EVERYTHING WORKED! My company is up and running, and it's only because this book is written in layman's terms, nothing technical. Yes, it took 2 years to find a true entrepreneur guide, but the timing could not have been better. This one is highly recommended. I've bought copies and passed it on to other up and coming entrepreneurs and it has benefited them all as well. Sheila Taylor-Downer, THANKS for writing this book; Great Job!

For anyone aspiring to become their own boss
Ready Or Not...Get Set Go is the ideal "how to" book for anyone aspiring to become their own boss through launching their own business enterprise. Debra Hamilton and Sharon Taylor effectively collaborate to offer the reader an informative and practical guide and reference to starting and operating a successful business as they survey such essential issues as the legal structure for a self-owned business; "law & taxes"; do-it-yourself evaluation for personal qualities necessary for running a business; the start-up costs of a small business; creation of an effective and goal oriented business plan; marketing; and much, much more. If you are contemplating having a business of your own, begin with a careful reading of Ready Or Not...Get Set Go -- it will be the best investment of your time and money that you could make in deciding whether or not to go out on your own in today's highly competitive marketplace.

Songs of the Orcas

Original Story Engages the Young
I personally know children ranging from 5 to 12 who thoroughly enjoyed this book. Both boys and girls became involved in the story and look forward to the resolution. They shared the story with their friends and it was successful in stimulating their own creativity. The story reinforces their nature to follow their own heart and believe in their individual value.

A Great Story for Children and Adults
"Songs of the Orcas" is a wonderful tale for anyone, child or adult, who has ever felt different. If you have ever had a time when you wanted to be someone or something else you will enjoy this tale of a young North Pacific Native girl's longing to escape the mold others are trying to force her into.

This book is an easy read and very enjoyable for adults as well. Jan Grokett did a great job at drawing the reader into the story and making you wish you could be in Taahiasu's place. The illustrations are fantastically detailed and really add to the story.

Great book-great read!
This is a great book for children and adults alike. The author expertly blends myth, legend and imagination to tell her story and her expert knowledge of the subject matter is very evident. The reader is given a fascinating glimpse into the main character's culture and the many fine details make the story both visual and real. I would highly recommend this book to everyone. It is one to be read and reread many times!

Wonderful!
"The Soup Bible" has delicious and simple recipes for all tastes. There are lots of full-colour photos to appeal to the eyes. When it says "all the soups you will ever need" it's not kidding; everything is here! This book is an asset to every chef.

The Soup Bible rocks
This book is an *extremely* detailed and easy-to-follow recipe book. Although I think it is British-influenced and sometimes calls for ingredients with unusual names, it is easy to figure out what they mean.

The book also has fabulous colour photographs -- 2 to 5 for every recipe -- to give you ideas of what your work should look like, every step of the way.

I have yet to have a failed meal produced by this book. Purchase it if you have a chance, and enjoy!

Excellent collection
This book had and excellent collection of soups! I could even find a few south Indian soups in it and I was amazed. It has clear step by step directions with illustrations, so even a beginner will find it easy. Its a useful book to have in Ur kitchen!
