My daughter loved this book as a baby & still does at 4!!!
This was one of the first books my daughter liked to look at as a baby. She loved to lift the flaps and look at the picture printed on the page underneath. Being able to add our own pictures on the back of the flaps makes the book even more special. Now, as a 4 year-old, my daughter loves to look at the book to see pictures of herself as a baby. I highly recommmend this book and plan to buy it for friends when they have kids.

Still my sons favorite book.
I gave this book to my son for a first birthday present. This very clever book allows you to add photos of you child or children. It follows delightful text and when you lift the flap to see who's there...surprise it's your darling child! We had to buy another copy so our daughter could have a book of her own. We've read them daily for over three years now!!

A wonderful, interactive book where your child is the star!
A beautiful, original idea by Ms. Meryl, combined with vibrant and colorful illustrations make this book a winner. It's the perfect gift for any newborn. You will treasure it for years to come because you can put your baby's pictures right into the book. My six year old son is rediscovering his copy because he is now able to read a book that he stars in! Simple sing-song rhymes are easy enough for youngsters to read by themselves. With this book, family photo albums have a whole new meaning.

A great read!
A heartbreaking and yet uplifting book. Moore imbues her characters with real life, pain, emotion. We really feel for them as we follow their story, their struggle to "overcome", as they triumph in the end. I love stories that are about friendship at the core of them, and this one definitely is.

Loved Break Even
The best part about this book is the ambiance of college life and the realistic feelings of the main characters in the days and weeks after the horrible events take place. I can really feel the reality of both girls being attacked and their struggle to "break even" afterward.

I loved Kat and Jenna and really felt like I know them! Ms. Moore draws a very clear picture of them both, and the book flies by. I stayed up all night and read it!

A great book!
When her best friend, Jenna, is raped on the University of Nebraska campus during her senior year, the event brings back all the horror of Kathleen's own rape that took place on the same campus four years before. As Kathleen struggles to support her friend during the difficult aftermath, she is determined that the only way either of them can "Break Even," is not to allow the pain and humiliation of the events to ruin the rest of their lives. While Jenna's approach to overcoming the trauma is quite different than Kathleen's, each learns in her own way that through the love and compassion they have for each other, it is possible to overcome anything.

This story gives hope to women everywhere who have been attacked and are rebuilding their lives...it is possible to go on!

Very well done book on female sexuality
I enjoyed reading this book, particularly because it validated me as a Christian woman and validated my sexuality in a healthy, spiritual way.

The book was informative from a "sex ed" point of view, as well as from a Biblical point of view. I especially appreciated the discussion on birth control and the emphasis on the fact that children and fertility are gifts from God.

Was a great help!
This book has helped me to understand many things about myself that had ended up being a sourse of friction between my spouse and I. Ms. Evans gives lots of helpful information about many of todays commen misconceptions about how a woman should "be" sexually. She also includes some wonderful information about the menstration cycle and how it affects women on a daily basis. The questions at the end of each chapter make you really think and are most helpful.

A comprehensive insight into the nature of women.
This book brings into focus a woman's unique nature, dispels male centered misconceptions about our sexuality, and carefully explains God's design and purpose for women. It is easy to read and engaging for a book of this nature. The questions at the end of each chapter are thought provoking and meaningful

Class Winning 3-Dimensional Valentine Boxes

Vacation Bible School Crafts
I am donating my copy of this book to my church. It will be great for those mission study groups involving kids (and even teens), and I think the kids will enjoy making the boxes during Vacation Bible School. Consider buying one for your church library. School libraries might appreciate the gift, too! (Grandparents: Looking for something to do with the grandkids when you have to babysit?)

Great Self-Esteem Builder!
I have two elementary school children and they are really excited about taking their boxes to school this year for the Valentine's party. My daughter is making a big yellow bumble bee and my son is making a fire truck. They are making these boxes using the simple directions and cut out patterns in this book. The boxes are made out of recycled household items so I don't have to buy a lot of stuff for them to make the boxes. My daughter is going to use her box as a piggy bank after she's done with it at school. (They've already picked out the boxes they're going to make next year too.) My mother bought this book for the kids. It has been one of the best resources for encouraging them to be creative and for building their self-esteem-- they can't wait to show their friends at school. To wrap it up, I found this book to be a wealth of creativity and simplicity. I hope other families enjoy it as much as ours does. Thanks mom for the book!

Spend some creating time with your children
This book is a good crafting guide for creating projects with children. It provides step by step instructions, with illustrations for those of us who can't follow instructions (yes, dads, you might be able to do it by looking at the pictures). The book even provides pattern guides for cutting out pieces. This is a good brainstorm book for creative crafts using common household items. Highly recommended for K-5 grades. (yes, I am a certified teacher, so I would know about age appropriateness.) Ideas can be used for other holidays as well!

Excellent Buy
This book is truly value for money. I bought it 2 weeks ago and have already made and enjoyed several of the soups. Each recipe is accompanied by a color photograph and easy to follow directions. I am doing the South Beach diet and most of the recipes are easily adaptable to this diet as well as the Atkins diet - this book made it easy for me to lose 10 pounds!

I would recomment starting with the Harira (a Moroccan soup). It tasted excellent and was easy to make too - most of the ingredients were available from the normal grocery store.

Wonderful Series of Books
I have five books from this series, and they are all uniformly excellent. Whenever I see another one, I immediately buy it without bothering to look inside. Not one of the recipes I've made from these books was a dud, and most of them were exceptional.

The most recent recipe I made from this book is Spicy Chicken and Mushroom Soup, which turned out to be one of the best things I have ever made. Many of these recipes are somewhat exotic, pairing ingredients that you would never think to pair, like watercress and orange, but the results are often spectacular.

The book wanders the world, delivering absolutely-authentic recipes. When a friend called to say his date had cancelled, so instead he was bringing a Moroccan friend, I was quickly able to serve what she enthusiastically claimed was the best Harira she'd ever had.

Sometimes, the author will take an ethnic soup, and greatly modify it, to its eternal benefit. One recipe I was already familiar with -- a Ghanaian recipe for okra and banana soup, gets completely transformed here by the addition of smoked cod.

But don't let me put you off by suggesting that this is a purely exotic cookbook: of the 30-odd recipes I've made, five of them were variations on tomato soup. Since there are 200-odd recipes in the book, there are still eight variations on tomato soup that I have not yet tried.

I have four or five cookbooks that are dedicated only to soup -- this one is my favourite.

Love "Cook's Encyclopedia of..." books
I have been collecting as many of the "Cook's Encyclopedia of..." books as I can find. I have twelve currently. Like the Soup book all these books have colored pictures of each recipe and illustrations on how to make each recipe. I love that the soup book is not full of common soups, because I can get recipes anywhere for those. Of course these recipes are not so strange or unappetizing that you won't make them. In fact they look down right delicious. Most are simple and easy to follow. These recipes range from hot, chilled, vegetarian, creamy, spicy, seafood, seasonal, from other countries... The point is there is a great variety of soups to choose from. I never considered making home made soup until I found this book.

The Return of an old friend
I first read this series when I was still in grade school, back when the title's were the Prince's Players, Tournement and Tower and City By The Sea (does that make me old or what?) They were the only stories that I would read over and over and over and ---well you get the point. I loved reading about Randal, Lys and Walter, their story seem more realistic to me b/c the charcter's actually had consequences for their actions: like Randal's ever present scar from when he broke a majory wizardry rule in order to...(read the first one and find out) When they went out of print and my library sold them I was crushed (though I did find #2 and #3 at a used book store a year or two ago.) I'm glad that once more the series is back in print and other people can journey with the trio like I once did.

For All Fantasy Lovers
I bought the first of this series for my 8-year-old. After reading the first one myself I had to buy the others. I hope the fifth one comes out soon. If you like magic and adventure, you'll like this series--no matter what your age.

An outstanding book in an outstanding series
This book was originally published ten years ago under the title The Prince's Players. It hasn't lost any of its freshness or originality since its first publication. It was great then, both as a stand-alone book and as part of the series. (The Circle of Magic books tell one story from beginning to end if you read them in order.) All of them can be read by themselves, though, without losing the magic, the charm, and the characters.

I'm glad that these books are coming back into print, so another generation of kids can get their first taste of fantasy. There's lots hidden inside of them for older readers and more experienced fantasy readers too. This is a series that isn't just for kids.

Anyway, in this book Randal (the hero) learns more about what magic means, both to himself and to others. The overall thrust is of self-discovery, personal responsibility, and other positive values, told in the midst of an exciting action-packed adventure. Violence, spies, good twins, bad twins, and theatre all mixed, with the hero making choices that matter. Good book.

A Strong Man and a Passionate young woman
I absolutely loved this book! This was the only Debra Dier book I've ever read, but it made my heart melt. Who would not want to fall in love with Austin? He's smart, brave, loyal, and utterly gorgeous. And Sarah! The type of woman that any man should fall in love with. She may not be beautiful, but she has character. I loved the scene where Austin and Sarah met. It's a beautiful love story where the woman doesn't have to use her body to get a man. I'm going out to get the rest of Debra's books!

This book was so wonderful, one of the best in a long time!!
"Deceptions & Dreams" has everything, magic, action, jealousy, terror, hate and most of all LOVE. I could really understand the way the characters were feeling she really has a flare with discriptions. I had no problem thinking Austin was the most handsom and powerful man ever. I'm not finished with it yet but I know I won't be dissapointed with the ending! THIS BOOK MAKES DEBRA DIER LOOK LIKE A GENOUS!!!

Wonderful! Tender and Honest with just enough fantasy.
This story is simply magical, with plot surprises and a hero that is steadfast, loyal and sensual from the start. Austin is the kind of man that deserves happiness, and you'll be glued to the book until he finds it with Sarah at the end. Deceptions and Dreams made me go out and immediately buy all of Debra Dier's other books--the first of which was A Quest of Dreams, Austin's twin brother's (Devlin's) story. Ms. Dier managed to create two completely different, but equally attractive men, and A Quest for Dreams was a winner too. Don't miss any of her books.

A must-have!
This is the book to have whether science was a weak subject in school or none of the scientific knowledge was retained once out of school. Parents would find this book useful in quelling the barrage of questions from their inquisitive children while satisfying their own curiosity in the field of science. Do you know why people have different blood types? Different types of proteins found in red blood cells and the plasma they float in determine the type of blood a person has. What causes hiccups? They are caused by the diaphragm going into spasms. These are some of the interesting subjects explained in this book accompanied by funny and amusing illustrations. Parents and children will repeatedly reach for this book as a reference for their questions in the field of science.

Really cool book!
This is a really cool book! I always wondered why drops of water cling to the inside of a glass when you turn it over, and this book finally answered my question. I also found out that pandas aren't really bears (they're more like oversized raccoons) and whether it rains on other planets. I would recommend this book for any kid or adult who really wants to know. The drawings are funny, too. (like the radioactive toupee and the black widow spider wedding, where she promises to love, honor, and DIGEST).

A Fabulous Book!
This is one of the most fascinating books I have ever read. It seems like everything you've ever wondered about science or nature is explained here, everything from where zebras got their stripes to where lightning comes from. Although the publisher classifies this as a "young person's book," it contains far more detail in its explanations than you find in some science books aimed at adults. Each answer, in fact, is an essay on the subject, long enough to really explain the answer. I also think that the tone of the answers is just right -- it's just like having someone who knows all about science and nature and also has a great sense of humor come to your house and answer all the questions you've wondered about for years. And the drawings are GREAT -- this is the only science book I've ever seen that actually made me laugh out loud.

One of our all-time favorite books!
We received this book from a friend when we were expecting our first baby, and now, six years and three children later, it is still one of the most prized books in our family library. The rhyme beautifully expresses a child's faith in God, and the illustrations are gorgeous. A must-have book!

I See the Moon
This book has a great message that young children can easily understand. The illistrator did a wonderful job! The entire book is just beautiful. Our two year old follows the little girl from sitting up in bed at the start of the book to laying down at the end. The flow of words is soothing and is easy for our daughter to memorize as well. This book is always in the "must read" pile at bedtime and is cherished by everyone in the family.

BEAUTIFUL!
Not only does this story have a wonderful message that God is always nearby, the illustrations are absolutely captivating! My son just loves the pictures in this book, and you know what? So do I!!! I think this book is worth the purchase just for the beautiful illustrations which make this old favorite come alive!

a splendid collection!
julia margaret cameron's women contains 63 different plates representing magnificent victorian portraits photographed back in 1864 to 1874. every plates are monochromed in sepia or black & white. ...5 pages are consacrated to her models biographies, her favorite ones like: julia prinsep jackson (mother of virginia woolf & painter vanessa bell), mary ann hillier (her maid, cameron described her as one of the most beautiful & constant of her models.) , Alice Pleasance Liddell (aka the little girl from whom Lewis Caroll wrote "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" in 1865)..etc.. - 5 other pages focuses on cameron's Literary & mythological subjects:from "DAPHNE" (nymph pursued by the god Apollo) to "OPHELIA" (from shakespeare's "Hamlet")..all are well explained and presented...the rest of the 242 pages are dedicated to margaret's life, her debuts, her Illustrations to tennyson's "Idylls of the king", her different relations... - all fans of painting & photography should own this book! it is a unique reference! cameron was and still is one of the greatest portrait photographers of all time...

other interesting books in this genre: "Reflections in a looking Glass" a centennial celebration of Lewis carroll. , "Photo Historica" landmarks in photography , "a new history of photography" edited by michel frizot.

An Often missed Pre-Raphaelite Vision
This amazing book is well worth the investment. These photos still have the power to knock one over the head with their dizzying beauty. Too often people look to the men who made up the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood for an ideal of the Victorian woman. For a fresh look, one should explore Victoriana through the eyes of the women themselves. Cameron's photography is the perfect counterpart to Christina Rosetti's poetry. Enjoy.

Not merely an expensive coffee table book.
Most photographs here were made in ca. 1870. Looking through the book, I imagine that at that time photography was still so new, so unprecedented, that no one yet had idea of what portrait photography was to become. An art? Or a detailed recording of what the eye perceives? In this ambiguity, Julia Margaret Cameron shows herself in this volume to be great artist, a portrait photographer second to none. In the faces of her women, I can see stories and history as recorded nowhere else.

Most notable is the series of images of Julia Jackson. (She also appears on the front and back covers.) One can see her life evolve over the time span of the photos. These images become even more interesting upon learning she was mother of Vanessa Bell and Virginia Woolf. So here at last is the real Mrs. Ramsey.
