Very good book on breast health
The book gives advise on healthy lifestyle factors that may reduce the risk of cancer. New and better methods of breast self-exam are taught along with step-by-step pictures. The book describes breast changes to look for and when to see a doctor. A listing of medications that may cause breast changes is included. There is a very good explanation of different types of breast abnormalities. The book also has a good discussion of diagnostic and surgical procedures. The book is easy to follow and understand, and it has a glossary of medical terms used ib breast care.

The Fog
Published in Paperback by Bantam Books (1980)
Authors: Dennis Etchison, John Carpenter, and Debra Hill
Amazon base price: $2.25
Used price: $0.45

Etchison does Carpenter film justice.
Most film novelizations are simply the script put into narrative form and offer little of interest outside of a few scenes either cut from the movie or presented in a slightly different context. Dennis Etchison avoided that trap and created a fully realized adaptation of John Carpenter's The Fog. While the trouble plagued movie had its weak points, it is quite obvious Etchison worked hard to fix them, developing much needed back story and expansion of Carpenter's concepts and multiple plots. The result is a wonderful companion piece to the film that enriches the viewing experience after reading, much like Orson Scott Card's work on The Abyss. Recommended for both Carpenter fans and ghost story addicts.

Debra Excels Again
In FOR YOUR HEART ONLY, Debra once again pulls the reader deep into the lives of her characters. While weaving romance and intrigue in just the right balance, Debra tells a story that is hard to let go of when you are finished reading it.
Debra is a master at character development--creating characters with just enough flaws to make them completely human.
All of Debra's novels do more than tell a story. They also show how the characters grow spiritually. I highly recommend FOR YOUR HEART ONLY. It is a real page turner.

Excellent book!
Having read all of Debra Benton's books, and also working in the technology field, I was interested to read what she'd have to say about this field currently mired in gloom and doom. Unlike some of her other books, which reiterate and build upon the principles outlined in "How to Think Like a CEO" and "Lions Don't Need to Roar" -- both great books, btw -- this book focuses more on new material for how a person can be successful with a technology-related position starting today and looking into the future.

From the opening of the book, there isn't even a specter of gloom and doom about the future of technology. Rather, Debra has opened up a gleam of light about how technology is still a viable career choice, and how a person can leverage their technical training and experience in both technical and some not-so-technical fields.

Highly recommended reading!

Games Galore Without Tears
I heard the author of this book speak at a Mothers of Preschoolers meeting. The book has several ideas on how to organize a party-from to-do lists to games to inexpensive prizes. All children win with these games! This book is overflowing with wonderful party games. The materials necessary for the games are really inexpensive. (Most of the items can be found in your cupboards.) The games are so creative! Many of the games are non-competitive and lots of fun! It is a great way to throw a TRADITIONAL party like we used to have as kids!

Grandstaff Gang
Absolutely brilliantly written story. I have recommended this book over and over again. I wish it wasn't out of print, because people I have talked to about it have found it hard to obtain. It not only chronicles an amazing story, but also shows the "underside" that exists in many of the larger, industrial towns in Iowa--something that most people don't know about and don't believe exists if they haven't spent a lot of time in the state. A real page turner, and while it's hard to sympathize with criminals, one has to have a grudging admiration for Grandstaff and Weir. Theft was their chosen profession and they were good at it.
