K-12 Web Pages: Planning & Publishing Excellent School Web Sites (Professional Growth Series)
Published in Paperback by Linworth Pub Co (2001)
Authors: Debra Kay Logan and Cynthia Beuselinck
Amazon base price: $44.95
Average review score:

How to make an excellent web page
This book, produced by Linworth Publishing, is the result of an online collaboration between Cynthia Beuselinck, who worked in libraries for ten years, then as an internet support specialist for the Calgary Board, and now owns an educational internet training company; and Deb Logan, a school librarian from Ohio. It is the culmination of many years of work by the authors on school Web sites, and their solution to the problem of how difficult it is to find information on how to make good educational web sites. They have gathered here the wisdom of experts from books, magazines and other Web sites, and their own tried and true experience. It answers questions about content, design, safety, ethics and responsibility. What it doesn't do is focus on how to build Web pages step by step or how to use software packages. Instead it helps educators define their needs and plan for high quality, low risk and meaningful educational Web sites. It covers such essentials as creation of a vision statement, categories of content, publishing guidelines and policies, copyright issues, technical considerations, design, and maintenance. The appendices contain reproducible planning and check sheets, lists of helpful resources, including exemplary web sites, a glossary, index, bibliography and recommended resources list. The text is clearly written and well organized, with "Fast fact" sidebars and screen prints, as well as easy to use lists and catchy quotes. This is an extremely useful tool - one that all schools should have on their professional reading shelf.

Best K-12 Web site Information I've seen!!
Debra Kay Logan has done a marvelous job with this. Everything teachers, administrators, and parents need to know about Web site development in schools. Safety and security and privacy of student information is covered rationally as are the details of construction, content, and design in a school setting. This is a definite must have for any one developing school Web sites. Deb Logan's own Web site is a great model.

Fresh and inspiring
A treasure. Rabbi Orenstein has not only put together a wonderful, informative, and inspiring book, she has opened up a fresh dialogue within Judaic studies. Surely, this volume of learned women's voices will effect a new and inexhaustable discipline of study. I find myself refering to "Lifecycle's" often.

Absorbing, fresh approach. Required reading!
Rabbi Orenstein's book is a gem. She has looked at ritual with a fresh light, and collected essays that are fascinating and useful for those of us who want to integrate Jewishness into the pivotal moments of our lives. The essays are down-to-eath and not pedantic. It's hard to put the book down! The best book on the topic ever!

Great book. Lots of good trig.
This book is pretty small but it gives great explanations of geometric shapes, angles, and trig functions like tan, sin, cos, and others. It's straight to the point and I learned from it very quickly. I highly suggest getting this book before moving on to a more advanced, or even just a regular geometry or trig book.

Informative and inspirational
Had no idea when I ordered this book from Amazon that it would be both informative and inspirational. The background on a host of touch therapies enriched me; the real stories of healing, using hands-on touch enlightened me. A must read for anyone who wants to know more about alternative therapies and how to incorporate these in your lifestyle for health and healing.

Superb guide!!! True healing studies using TOUCH therapy
This guide is superb! I picked it up because I wanted to know more about massage and acupuncture for pain relief. I was so surprised as the guide not only gave me the history and factual information on MANY touch therapies, it also detailed many patient stories of healing using touch. It was uplifting!! So often alternative therapy books are negative in tone. But this book was magical--it empowered me to feel like a touch therapy could actually help my back pain and gave me the confidence to try one. A great read for any age and very fresh and genuine in tone. Especially helpful--the chapter on managed care and how to get your HMO to pay for the therapy.

Great resource!
If you are thinking of writing a book or have one you are trying to sell, buy this book! The real life experiences of these authors will help you move forward! (Plus the stories really are interesting--nothing run-of-the-mill here.)

Great info!
This book was a gift from a friend and it's wonderful. As a new author--one without a book in print--I found the information on how these authors landed their first book sale very encouraging and interesting.

A touching story for both children and adults
Frances Park and her sister wrote a beautiful, moving story about the way families were split up during the Korean War. I bought this book initially for my daughter, but enjoyed it just as much as she did. The Korean wording interspersed throughout the book made it even more touching for me. Not only did I find the book educational for my daughter, but a great, interesting book.

An emotional experience of rare depth
The words and the illustrations condense an intense experience of family love, loss and hope into a format which can be shared and appreciated by a very wide range of readers. A beautiful work which can gently launch meaningful and memorable discussions between children, young adults and parents. The themes of sacrifice and freedom are portrayed in a manner which is realistic without being unnecessarily harsh for a younger audience. I very much look forward to future efforts on the part of the two talented authors.

Nobody Nowhere
Published in Audio Cassette by Audio Literature (1994)
Authors: Donna Williams and Debra Winger
Amazon base price: $16.95
Average review score:

amazing
This is my favorite book. I read it in less than a day wich is rare for me. Some other books I love are Catcher and the Rye, and The Sound and the Furry. Donna Williams is amazing. This book is amazing.

The book is excellent because it relates to my disability!
I think Donna Williams is one of the world's greatest authors. Although she suffers from pervasive developmental disorder, (autism related), she has shown great courage and will be of great benefit in the future for other people with disabilities.

I suffer, myself, from Asperger's Syndrome (I am 23 years old) and I have benefited from Donna's three autobiographies written.

I am trying hard to find information and correspondence with other autistic people like myself; but the process has not been a walover. I recommend reading of the books, from "Nobody Nowhere"(first) to "Like Color to the Blind" (third) because all three books run in sequence.

I have rated Nobody Nowhere a perfect 10!

A fantastic resource
As an information junkie, I'm always turning to the Internet for fast and up-to-date information for my garden design business. This book has replaced my computer for first-glance information. Debra provides significant editorial value in this reference, which I find dog-eared and well-used in a few short weeks. A must-have for any gardener in the Northwest, and a brilliant gift for a gardener new to the area.

A must have for northwest gardeners
It's a Northwest garden enthusiast's dream come true! Stephanie Feeney has outdone herself and compiled information in this edition I will refer to again and again. The list of nurserys to visit is complete with directions, business hours, the types of plants they sell and what they specialize in, e-mail addresses, and any other helpful information that may be of interest. I especially appreciate the geographic locator in the very back that breaks down locations by region that makes planning a garden outing a breeze. I even found a few nurseries in my small town that I didn't know existed. Other chapters include organizations that help gardeners, clubs, foundations, societies and volunteer opportunities, education, gardening with children and young people, internet gardening, publications, professional services, gardens to visit, shows and exhibits, and the list goes on. And it's all written in a friendly personal manner.
