Most up to date
For the dictionary on Japanese economy, ¡®MIT Encyclopedia of the Japanese Economy¡¯ has been widely used. Such a dictionary is needed for you can¡¯t read all the material on the Japanese economy. Literatures on Japanese economy are still flooding on the market. Moreover, there are so many sub-disciplines that you can never read through them all, and even making a reading list is prohibitively time-consuming.
MIT Encyclopedia was updated in 1999 to the 2nd edition. It deals with mainly big topics such as unemployment with some length. But this book, published in 2002, tackles not only general economic subjects, but business affairs like Sony, Japanese business in US, and Chalmers Johnson, as title implies. And that I think the quality of articles is not behind MIT¡¯s. This book¡¯s contributors are well-known figures in Japanese studies. And like MIT¡¯s at the end of each article is the reading list on that subject.

An Excellent Reference
This book is the most comprehensive reference I have seen on Japanese business related topics. Entries cover business history, leaders, management, technology, and company profiles. The authors appear to be well informed and up-to-date on what is happening in Japan, the writing is concise and the citations are helpful for research. I highly recommed this as a must-have reference for anyone interested in Japan and/or global business.

Nonfiction at it's finest!
In a word, Mr. Allport is brilliant. I was first astounded by his critically acclaimed, "Austria" and was thrilled to see it followed up with "England". I can only hope that the rumors circulating about the conclusion of the trilogy, "France", are true, and that the book is still in the works.
Mr. Allport's works are simply a must read for history buffs and those who never go out on Saturday nights.

Excellent Offering
As eloquent and articulate, yet gratifyingly easy to understand, as Mr. Allport's previous work ("Austria").

Great for all outdoor persons
Every person with an interest in the outdoors or wildlife should read this book. It is especially useful to hunters and photographers. I have been an outdoorsman all my life but learned several things. I found the crow trap to be interesting and plan to try it next summer.

The author writes in a loose, flowing narrative style that makes it seem like he is conversing one-on-one with the reader. His instructions are easy to understand and the diagrams are simple to follow. The tidbits of folklore he includes make this book a wonderful read.

Excerpt reprinted from Rambles.

Great book!
This was an great book! The pictures did alot better than other popular survival books. A most have for any primitive survivalist or survivalist. Goes into much more deepth than othe survival books.

Strong Suit
This book opens new avenues of thought, awareness, and perception. It does not confine its content to gender issues but expands to study all types of human relationships by categorizing personality types into the four card suits. Using this typology and subsequent scenarios, the reader is able to understand his/her personality, social interactions, and social reactions. Strong Suit studies the root of relationship obstacles, not only discussing why an occurance develops but also how to work through the obstacle. The book's manageable language allows the business and general public to readily understand and utilize its tactics. I highly recommend Finding Your Strong Suit to anyone who wishes a better comprehension of the human character.

A great book on personality typology
No one has written on matters of personality typology better than James and Jung. However, one will not find a clearer presentation than the one found in the following book. The style in which we think, gain access to information, and those forces that motivate our emotions, intellect, and will are all influenced by our own personality typology. The authors in this book give a clear presentation of not only their unique theory, but also its practical implications for daily life. This book is highly recommended. You will find it an enjoyable read.

A suitable text for an undergraduate course
This book seems to be one of the best choices of the text for an undergraduate course. It covers all topics that can be included in such course. It contains many exercises. Some of the exercises are routine, some others are more challenging. Also the price of the paperback edition is quite reasonable for a text for a semester course.
I should mention that there are some misprints in this text. Also, there are some gaps in the proof of the Brooks' theorem (pp. 194-196). So a new corrected printing is desirable.

An excellent compilation of short stories with a lesson.
This is an easy to read story made up of several short stories that each offer a lesson. It would be a perfect bedtime book for a child, and it's an enjoyable and quick read for adults. Offers a great message...

From Beggar Boy to Prince
This book would be a pleasure to read for both children and adults. This story is about a poor beggar boy who goes from living in the street to having a life that must have seemed like a dream to him. He has many lessons to learn along the way and doesn't even realize that he is also teaching those around him the most important lessons.

I think this would be a great story to read to school classes, and I plan on giving this book to a friend to read to her fifth grade class. I am sure her students will enjoy it as much as I did. Recommended!
