Marvelous collection of quirky ghost stories
This collection is well worth the price of admission. Not only is this an attractively packaged title with a dustjacket you could hang on a wall, the stories themselves -- most from the late 19th Century -- pack a punch despite the passage of time.

Buy and enjoy!

A Collector's Guide to Anchor Hockings Fire-King Glassware

Early American Prescut (EAPC) collectors, a MUST have book
The book I am reviewing is the Kilgo-Wilkins book titled "Fire-King Glassware", volume II, (1997), a 200 page bright red hardcover with a jadite collection featured on the front cover. This book is especially helpful to EAPC collectors as it has a marvelous 10 page section on Prescut featuring a timeline listing what pieces were made each year, 1960-1978. In my opinion if this book had been published a year or two later when the EAPC craze really took hold and if it had some reference to EAPC in the title that could have been picked up by a search engine, I wouldn't be the only guy out here waving his arms around. An excellent resource for other Fire-King glassware also. Good close-up photos of most of the Anchor-Hocking labels, good explanation of Anchor-Hocking Company logo evolution. Prices tend to be somewhat out of date as with most reference manuals of this sort. If you're a serious Fire-King or EAPC collector you must go find this one!

It is a very concise study aid and gives great explanations.
I have used this book for the past 4 months in my preparation for the PCAT. I think that the gaps in my knowledge of scientific topics can be filled using the explanations in this book. It was very straightforward and clear in its emphasis on what was needed to be studied for the PCAT. It was just an excellent book.

Magical Romance
Synopsis: School Teacher Gwen DeCLark was Stable and Reliable-and furious that those were qualities her new neighbor, International showman Jeremy Kane, found most attractive. She didn't want to be admired for her practicality. She wanted to be lusted after...the way she secretly craved Jeremy. Gwen sensed a smoldering undercurrent between them and, she has a choice: remain the timid schoolmarm for the rest of her life or show Jeremy a side of her he had yet to discover. What could she lose? Miss Prim and Proper was about to become Ms. Hot and Heavy.

Gina Wilkins has written a great cast of Characters in this novel. Not only are Gwen and Jeremy fantastic, but the supporting cast of characters embrace and heighten the entire story. The sexual tension in this book is super. Very few writers can really portray it as well as Gina does in this novel. It is worth an out of print book search! Order it Today!

Best Tooth Fairy Story Ever!
What a splendid story! From a Tooth Fairy who's a hip African American woman using a computer, to a child in a wheelchair, this book adds unusual features to a traditional story, enhancing it immeasurably. It includes just the right amount of suspense and humor for young children. The photorealistic illustrations are spectacular. I couldn't recommend it more.

Accessible art, fine writing
I opened this book as an uninformed amateur of modern art having no idea who David Smith was. I chose it because I had read other material by Karen Wilkin and found her insights interesting. That continued to be the case here and in addition I found David Smith's sculpture immediately compelling. Smith's whole career is covered, not in great depth, but thoroughly. This book is a good value.

Excellent 1st book for babies & toddlers-beautiful pictures!
This book is a collection of 27 poems & nursery rhymes. The text is short & simple. The pictures are beautiful depictions of babies and toddlers with lots of nature and animals. Includes favorites like, Peek-a-boo, My Puppy, Pease Porridge and many others you'll recognize. Was absolutely my daughter's FAVORITE book for quite some time. She wanted it read over & over again on a daily basis. For about 1-3 year olds is best. A definite must-have!

Good Introduction for New Readers of Musil
Robert Musil is not read much anymore; if he is known at all, it is usually through his monumental work, "The Man Without Qualities" - a piece comparable to both Joyce's "Ulysses" and Mann's "The Magic Mountain" in its complexity and elusiveness. Among the modernists, Musil is noted for his attempt to bring a sort of "mysticism" to the problems and philosophies of society; he was interested in the cacaphony of ideas which littered the modern world, drowning out the order of the past. This new collection of his short stories, previously published separately as "Unions" (1911) and "Three Women" (1924), provides an introduction to Musil for the uninitiated. As one reads these five stories (the "women"), one cannot help but notice the low hum of disorder welling beneath the surface - whether in "Grigia" with it's Poe-like ending, the retro-fairy tale of "The Lady From Portugal" or the seductive hopelessness inherent in "Tonka." These stories are set in a time and place not our own, but the reader is presented with the universal themes of love, death, and power - indeed, the very nature of our being. These works are challenging, they require effort, but ultimately they are rewarding and necessary. Musil once wrote of the "union of soul and economics" - the combination through literature of the ethereal and the real, the past and the present, the timeless and the mortal. This impressive collection is an entrance to Musil's world, to his ideas, and to a better understanding of our own condition.
