Patterson was my professor
I have the first edition of this book and, unlike other professors, he did not lecture verbatim from his own book. I appreciated this.

His lectures are dynamic, humorous and insightful. His books can give you a fine taste of his vast knowledge but don't adequately reflect his excellent teaching style.

Furthermore, his material applies directly to your career. No matter what career you choose. He makes certain that there are contemporary touchstones and references. I went directly from his upper level classes into a career in PR and Marketing Communications with confidence that I would never encounter issues similar to his case studies. Wrong!

The funny thing about his writings and lectures is that they trigger epiphanies over a period of years.

I made only average grades in his classes (they are VERY difficult and I admittedly didn't always apply myself) but I am able to quote key legal cases, recall ethics case-studies and comprehend media principles that most people with years in the MarCom/PR field can't even grasp.

If you get a chance, buy any of his publications. If you feel bold and really seek some enlightenment on Media Ethics and Law issues, you should call Oklahoma Christian University and request any of his lecture videos.

If you are reading this Dr. P, I'm still waiting on your book on Media Law. I liked ethics but your media law courses rocked!

I have gone on to become an Information Technology engineer and yet still find myself applying knowledge gained from his courses. (Such as Intellectual Property law, copyrights, libel and fair use.)

In case you folks think I'm a shill, it should be noted that I haven't been in contact with Dr. Patterson since around 1991 and I'm fairly certain I was among his least-promising students, so we had no casual relationship.

Regardless of this, I credit his classes and books as the major force for saving my professional and, to some extent, my personal life, from self-destruction.

Educational, yet interesting...
Most books on ethics and laws are boring. And those that aren't boring usually lean towards not giving any practical information. This book, however, is different.

Each chapter has information to explain a specific ethical question, then a real-life example of how that question might come about, then more questions to stimulate responses. I had the honor of being in a Media Ethics class taught by the author, and our discussions were always A) in depth B) heated C) helpful.

If you are considering becoming a journalist, photographer, tv personality or any other sower of information, read this book. It will help you to formulate your opinions now, instead of being stuck in an ethical no-win situation later.

Read it.

Excellent resource!
My son will be starting kindergarten in September and I feel this book is a great resource to prepare him. I enjoy the activities and it gives us a structured time to "play" together. I also enjoy the references to religion as that is important to our family.

Great Source for Parents/Professionals
The expertise of the author is revealed in this volume packed with ideas for readying your child for kindergarten. The ideas are simple, fun, and speak to the whole child. Wilkins experiences as a teacher and parent have made this book a wonderful resource for anyone who is responsible for the care/education of children. The ideas are applicable and adaptable for ages infant through kindergarten. An added feature of the book are the daily positive thoughts and inspiration for those working with children. This book is my new favorite gift to new parents and professionals.

EXPERIENCE GUIDES PARENTS IN A DELIGHTFUL WAY
I AM ALWAYS SEARCHING FOR RESOURCE INFORMATION TO GUIDE ME IN ASSISTING MY CHILDREN TO DO THEIR BEST. I HAVE THOROUGHLY ENJOYED USING "READY FOR KINDERGARTEN". IT FOLLOWS A WEEKLY FORMAT PROVIDING THREE USEFUL, EASY TO DO ACTIVITIES WITH YOUR CHILD TO REINFORCE OR INTRODUCE VARIOUS SKILLS. I ESPECIALLY LIKED THE THREE PER WEEK CONCEPT, SINCE MOST OF OUR LIVES ARE BUSY ENOUGH TO NOT ALLOW SUFFICIENT TIME ON A DAILY BASIS. THREE ACTIVITIES PER WEEK IS MANAGEABLE. IT ALSO HAS A RECOMMENDED READING LIST BROKEN DOWN BY CATEGORIES. I FEEL THIS IS AN EXCELLENT RESOURCE FOR ME AND MY PRESCHOOLER.

simply great
i'm a french reader of this book and i didn't know anything about computers before reading this book which is the first one i read. it is very well written and beginners can really understand almost everything this book has helped me to improve my regitry and the one of my friends whitout any problem -------------------------------------------julien

i'd like to say that the authors are very sympathics and they answered my questions as clearly as possible

Great book, saved me a great deal of time and money.
The tricks on how to preserve the registry have saved me (and my customers) a great deal of trouble.

I work in the computer support industry and have found the book great.

This Guide is Excellent
This book is an excellent hands on guide to understanding what a registry is and how it can effect your computing life. It is written in a basic manner so as not to lose anyone, no matter what their computing background. The glossary gives excellent definitions to the questions that that most people will have. The tools on the CD-Rom that accompanies the book are helpful. With the included tools and this new found knowledge about my registry, I have been able to slim up my registry and speed up my computer like never before. One fact that I did not know before reading this book is that a regular backup of your system does not backup your registry so...if your system crashes you have to start all over again to build your registry, BUT...there is hope and it is in this book. It give detailed instructions on how to backup your registry (several options). I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn more about Windows 95 Registry and how to save yourself from it.

Baby Listens (Baby's 1st Book)

Old favorite
Too bad this is out of print! It was one of my favorites when I was a baby. Our family's copy is so old and beat up from being read thousands of times, I can't give it to my daughter. I wish it were in print! My dad actually photocopied the pages and had it bound at Kinko's so my daughter could have a copy of this book. It's bulky and awkward, but she loves it as much as my brother and I did.

My Favorite Book as a Child
This is such a wonderful book, and I'm only hoping I can find it for my daughter, as it's out of print. This was my favorite book when I was little, and the melodic prose is as as memorable as the beautiful illustrations by Eloise Wilkin. Here it is thirty years later and I can still quote the beginning: "These are the things that baby hears when he listens hard with his little ears." A wonderful book for bedtime.

Excellent user friendly cancer book
I have read bethesda handbook of oncology. It is a well written, user friendly book with many pictures, algorithms, tables and charts. I use it regularly as a quick bedside reference. I will recommend this book for anybody in clinical oncology. Moreover it is written by some of the well known names in the field. Many of authors have written chapters in the famous oncology text book written by Devita also.

A ready reckoner for oncology practitioners in remote worlds
The Bethesda Handbook of Clinical Oncology by Jame Abraham, MD, and Carmen J. Allegra, MD, comprehensively reviews the clinical features, current management & etio-pathology of all common malignancies. The chapters on supportive care, oncological emergencies and therapeutic procedures in medical oncology though brief are quite precise and informative. The best part of the book is its tables, flow charts and algorithms, which are a ready reference for uptodate information. It truly provides a quick access to information on most common practical problems encountered by clinicians in their daily practice and their solutions .The field of oncology is ever changing and new information is added each year. This handbook would certainly be of great help as an affordable ready reckoner for physicians practicing oncology in remote areas without much access to latest literature. However there are a few suggestions for improvement: (1) inclusion of a chapter on gestational trophoblastic tumors (2) inclusion of a basic chapter on cell cycle and (3) a more detailed description on anti cancer drugs

Warning- this is NOT the book-it's a study guide.
This is a great study guide for the hardcover book. It contains numerous maps, questions, and vocabulary lists, BUT do not order this if you think you've found a much cheaper version of the hardcover-that is not the case.

A Good Book
BY RIGHT OF CONQUEST is a great book. It tells the story of a boy who is shipwrecked on a island where the people think he is a god. When Cortez comes to fight the people of the islands the boy is caught in the fray. This story is a great book full of excitment like in the middle of battles or running away in a boat. Even a point where the boy must escape from being sacrificed. This is a wonderful book which I encourage many to read.

This book is a MUST!!!
Often referred to as the "bible" of dental hygiene, no student should be without this text. Practicing dental hygienists can also benefit from the newest up-to-date information in this book. The textbook is practical and loaded with valuable details required for practicing the art of dental hygiene. The chapters are clearly organized and easy to follow. Resources and references listed at the end of each chapter can lead the reader to more information on the various topics. It could easily be considered a mini-encylopedia for dental health information. This book is a bargain!!! I highly recommend this book to students and practicing dental hygienists.

A Dental Hygienists Bible
This book should be mandatory for anyone considering the dental hygiene field. I found it very perceptive and clear cut. This was one of my best study guides and references for my exams and clinical. I couldn't have gotten through state boards without it.

Excellent Read, fear not!
This is the best book about death ever written. Not morbid, very natural yet factual! Give it as a gift! Originally it was published as The Bedside Book of Death..a much cuter name. This is a great book to start on in Death readings, and a good one for the younger set to help them understand, I mean, you know the teen set that thinks they'll live forever.

Originally Published as The Bedside Book of Death
You won't feel "morbid" reading this! The writter makes the reader feel very comfortable, no stress-Just History. (And a lot of if) I enjoyed this book so much I bought another copy so my friends could read it and I wouldn't miss mine. Where to start....The writter begins with Buried Alive, goes over Body Snatchers,Mummification,Embalming,Cremation,Tombs,Suicide and the Fears of Planning your Own Funeral.
He surely puts the FUN back in Funeral, using humar where appropriate. You will absolutely feel more comfortable thinking about death and funerals after reading this fasinating book.
