Fiery characterizations -- Highly recommended
Teresa Scott is a waitress at the Rainbow Café in a small, Arkansas town where she meets Riley O'Neil. He's a reporter who enjoys disconcerting people with off-the-wall comments. She's cautious in her interactions with Riley because he doesn't need any encouragement from a woman who doesn't date. She insists that she finds his teasing more annoying than amusing, despite her attraction to the reporter. When Teresa realizes that he's already chummy with her children, she can't help wondering how that ever happened. Especially with a guy who claims to not like children.

Fear of rejection keeps Riley from submitting one of the fantasy novels he's written to a publisher. That same fear has always kept him from issuing invitations to women he knows will be accepted. So now he wonders why he finds himself pursuing a woman who consistently declines. Especially when he learns she has children. And especially when he has no intention of every marrying. Worse, he even rents her the duplex next door, insuring that they see one another frequently, and resulting in intimacies he didn't quite predict.

Author Gina Wilkins offers a terrific conclusion to her miniseries Hot Off the Press. DATELINE MATRIMONY concludes the underlying secondary plot while never taking the emphasis from the burgeoning romance between Riley and Teresa. Riley's an unlikely hero, not necessarily because he's forsworn marriage or dating a woman with children, but because he's mouthy, irritating, and won't take no for an answer while still remaining charming, funny and honest. Indeed, DATELINE MATRIMONY'S crisp dialogue and fiery characterizations result in a strong read. Highly recommended.

Dirt Behind Our Ears: An Infantryman's Life in World War II As Related in Letters He Wrote Home

It is an engaging book of WWII recollections.
As a former WWII marine who served in the Pacific, I found this book representative of experiences and feelings which all servicemen in that conflict encountered. I was moved by the universality of experiences we shared. Furthermore, it was exceptionally well-written and can be enjoyed by everyone, not just military personnel. The author, since it is his letters to his family throughout his tour of duty, defines chronologically the series of events in a very realistic and personal manner. The book gives a clear rendering of what it was like to be a serviceman in WWII from induction to the close of the war and reentry into civilian life. I would highly recommend "Dirt Behind Our Ears".

A good textbook
I started using this book for self study as my textbook, and compared to other textbooks that I have used I consider it to be the best. It has a lot of drill and good grammer explanations. I would recommend this book even though it is pricey.

The authority
This textbook is largely considered the authority in Aerospace Medicine in the United States. If one wants to become familiar with Aerospace Medicine, they must read this text. It moves from history to the many aspects of medicine, which effect the aviator. It is fairly well written, and up-to-date. It is not written with just the FAA or any one military service in mind, but can be generalized to all. Space medicine is also covered. If you need info on this subject this is a good text to purchase.

Very good but difficult questions. High-yield material, but some questions are too detailed. Long and good explanations. Consider this book only if you plan to start early.

Genetic Analysis of Animal Development
Published in Hardcover by Wiley-Liss (1993)

the genetic approach to developmental biology
This book has become sort of a classic, for anyone who wants to learn about developmental biology from the point of view of genetics (as opposed to classical embryology), this is the place to start. One strength of this book is that it is stand-along, you don't need to know anything about developmental biology to be able to read it. Anyone with a general knowledge of genetics and molecular biology will have no problem. Another great strength is the writing, it is not only clear but also somehow easy and enjoyable to read, it's the kind of book you can read even if you are tired from a hard day in the lab. The only real flaw in this book is that by now its getting a bit dated, the last edition came out in 1992, which is why I only give it four stars. Of course, the fundamentals haven't changed, so its still an excellent way to learn about the genetic approach to studying development, but it should not be viewed as necessarily the state of the art in terms of what is known. I think we're all looking forward to the next edition!

A great book
My son loved Peter Rabbit as a preschooler and now my toddler daughter does also. I did not buy him many of the Beatrix Potter tales though and I wanted my daughter to have many of the stories in one book and this one has more than the Complete Tales....that is also listed. So I chose this one. I'm glad I did! This is a must for any child who just loves these characters. Each story is just as interesting and as cute as the one before it.

Gold and the Gold Standard (International Finance)
Published in Hardcover by Ayer Co Pub (1978)
Authors: Edwin W. Kemmerer and Mira Wilkins
Amazon base price: $23.95

Average review score:

The simpliest way to understand the Gold Standard
Edwin Kemmerer, "The Money Doctor", wrote this excellent approach to the Gold Standard to be understood for any undergraduate student. The simplicity and the scope of the analysis makes it a necessary part of the economic historian's book collection. With the experience Mr. Kemmerer had teaching and researching at Princeton University, as well as being an advisor of many goverments from the beginning of this century until his last days, he has the simpliest realistic examples to explain the different Gold Standard epochs.

Going through the Gold Exchange Standard, the Gold Bullion Standard and the Bretton Woods System he surveys quickly, but deeply, the way these monetary systems worked and how they died.

As a conclusion, Edwin Kemmerer's book should be considered a classical on Gold Standard, next to Barry Eichengreen's books. The simplicity of the book and the variety of themes it describes makes it an excellent buy.

A Book I've Never Forgotten
When I was a young child, my mother gave me the first issue of this book. Now that I am a mother, I have been on a constant search for the same book for my daughter. When I found this book, I was overjoyed! Not only does it have simple prayers that are easy for children to memorize, it also has prayers for various religions, which exposes children to the divesity of religion. This is an excellent book that will lead young children on the path to righteousness in a fun and simple way.

fantastic read - don't miss out.
For Brynn Larkin, marriage and babies seemed like a wish upon a star. Until fate landed her in the strong arms of Dr Joe Alessandro. Too long Brynn had hungered for happiness and Joe's tender touch almost had her believing in the power of love. This is another of the Alessandro and Walker family romances written as only Gina Wilkins can. Great story and has made my try to find all of the previous books for the other family members. Brynn was a strong character and the concepts of love and family leave you feeling good.
