A convenient courtship
Scott, the attorney focused on becoming a partner in his law firm, is the downstairs neighbor to Lydia, a research scientist focused on completing her doctorate. Neither has time for a romance, and both have pesky interfering sisters determined to set them up with blind dates. They conspire to be convenient partners to family events to get their sisters off their backs. Events push the partnership past convenience, into real friendship and true love. But because neither wants to hold the other back from their goals, and neither wants to break their original agreement to stay uninvolved, their relationship hits a brick wall. Once their goals are achieved, they realize that dreams are more important than goals, and it is one of the sisters that changes her tack and steers them to the solution that finally brings them together.

A love story between two friends
The most commendable element of this story was the friendship between the hero and the heroine. What begins as a mild sort of meeting of minds broadens into a good friendship between Scott and Lydia.

Two career-driven people, Scott and Lydia are always under attack by their respectively good-intentioned sisters who want nothing more than to see them happily settled down. As well-intentioned as the two were, they really began to irritate a bit as meddlesome siblings do. In that respect, they were effective, yet a hindrance to the story.

The main attraction is the expansion of Scott and Lydia's friendship which only grows stronger with their developing relationship. I really liked the idea of a heroine who was determined to see her dreams through rather than push them aside. But most importantly, I enjoyed how Wilkins characterized Scott as a man who was equally career-driven yet willing to compromise because he saw something incredibly special in the strength of Lydia's mind and character.

AN ENJOYABLE BOOK!
I have always enjoyed Wilkin's works. This book is no exception. Wilkins has the talent to combine a relationship with romance and career. I liked Lydia's passion to pursue a career and Scott's willingness to support her. My favorite Wilkins' book is "After Hours" followed closely by "Doctors In Disguise."

This Bombed With My Boys
The text is lovely but needs to be abridged for the attention span of the average preschooler. It starts out fine: "GOD IS GREAT." But when the text waxes poetically about light and stars and ancient mountain tops on the following pages, they lost both my boys. Usually my youngest will at least look at the pictures, but he found the baby doll-faced children, some of them with no pupils to their eyes (at least that is what I think he found scary about their eyes,) off-putting. Perhaps this is better for an older audience (mine were three and five, at the time) -- the message is certainly timeless.

It's Little, It's a Book, and It's About God.
Truth in advertising, what more could you ask for? My Little Book About God is indeed little, and avoids taking any particular dogmatic approach. God is not described as an old man in the sky, nor are any particular religions held to be true to the detriment of others. Simply put, God is presented as great and loving, no more. Comparisons between the child's world and God's make these points explicit. Jesus, Muhammad, Buddha, Zoraster, Joseph Smith and the like never make so much as a cameo, and on this basis perhaps some will find the book too bland. But after all, it isn't My Little Book About How My Religion Is Right and Yours Isn't And You Are Going To Burn For All Eternity Because You Are An Infidel. Certainly devout atheists will find the book objectionable, but there is even room for secular humanists (God might literally be Love, and not a separate, intelligent presence at all) in in this approach. Hopefully most will find it a message of tolerance and love from which their children will benefit--two qualities that are far too rare in today's troubled times.

KEEP THIS ONE FOREVER
This was one of my favorite books as a child so naturally I wanted my daughter to have a copy. To my delight, it has a few new illustrations now [black children are included.]

The wording of MY LITTLE GOLDEN BOOK ABOUT GOD can be at times too lengthy for a preschooler but it adds to the appeal later in life. My two-year old daughter has never complained though, she is mesmerized by the pictures just as I was at her age! Children love to listen to any story with illustrations this magnificient. Way to go Eloise Wilkin! I finally get to thank you after 30 years!

I highly recommend this book because I remember it fondly and vividly from childhood. I had countless books growing up but this is one of only a handful that I remember and that is also etched into my heart forever. Let's keep the little child in our hearts; this is a great book to help us achieve this feat!

But Jesus said, "LET THE LITTLE CHILDREN COME TO ME, AND DO NOT FORBID THEM; FOR OF SUCH IS THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN." Matthew 19:14 THE HOLY BIBLE

Don't waste your money
If anything this book was about a woman going through a mid-life crisis. Not only is this book irritating, but it severely lacks in most departments. I would not recommend this particular book on walk-ins to ANYBODY. Its terrible.

The Walk-In
All I can say about this book is, that is was wonderful. I wish there were more books on "Walk-Ins".

Thank you.

I concur, amazing book!!!!!
After reading Ruth Montgomery's book on walk-ins years ago, I have always been intrigued with the idea of walk-ins. After I read Juelle's book, I was very touched by her story, her incredible honesty and straightforwardness. I knew that if I ever got the chance I'd have to meet her because I found her so inspiring. As it just so happens, I was out in Colorado for 3 weeks looking for a job, and decided to stop in Crestone and have a reading with Juelle. She is truly a wonderfully warm, caring, compassionate, giving woman and so grounded and practical. This book gives such great advice to those who are trying to grasp this concept and Juelle is truly a jewel in our midst. Thank you Juelle for you openness and compassionate heart!

Not bad, but the writing (Ugh!)
The author, Clifford Ross, knows his stuff. His inteview with Edward Gorey provides some illuminating insights into a great artist and charming soul. However, Ross's style often gives the impression that he is promoting his own material. Gorey's work is a pleasure to enjoy, and the book is worth a buy. (...)

A serious look at a funny man
This book features an interesting interview, and then a rather rambling mononograph about Gorey's work overall. This essay is an important first attempt to place Gorey's unique vision into some kind of context, and though quite descriptive, it doesn't reveal a whole lot to me. The best part of the book is plates of some of Gorey's less well-known material, his stage curtain backdrops, etc. Fans of Gorey will appreciate a glimpse of these things for their collections. Those unfamiliar with his work would find a better introduction with one of the "Amphigorey" treasuries.

A great book about the Enbassador of Edwardian times
This book is about Edward Gorey and the part about his art, written by Karen Wilkin, is very good. The interview isn't very good, but it makes up for it by all the great pictures.

A perfect balance of mystery and sensual romance
Small-town reporter Lindsey Gray has had a thing for her older brother's friend for twenty years. Too bad now police chief Dan Meadow's still tries to relegate her to "little sister" status. Fed up with a pat on the head, Lindsey decides its time to either grab Dan's attention, or leave town to create a new life somewhere else. A radical makeover leaves Lindsey tastefully, yet sexily, groomed and dressed. Nevertheless, Dan seems determined to look after Lindsey, honoring his word to her brother, without considering her a full-grown woman.

On Lindsey's twenty-first birthday, Dan gave her a birthday kiss that rocked his world. Unfortunate circumstances, however, resulted in his marriage to another woman -- a woman with little patience for a small town cop on a small town salary. When scandal erupted and Dan divorced his criminal wife, he vowed to not let any such events touch his life again. Burying himself in work was enough until Lindsey's new look shocks him back to reality. With an arson investigation and Lindsey hot on his trail, Dan's going to have to rethink his life decisions, or risk loosing her to the glamour of larger town forever.

Author Gina Wilkins' BACHELOR COP FINALLY CAUGHT? creates a delightful read that spins a web of enchantment, whisking the reader away from the mundane into a world of dreams of love. Excellent escapist fare -- this novel contains the perfect amount of mystery to off-set sensual romance, keeping readers turning the page, eager to solve the puzzle, yet enchanted by the sensual tension. Highly recommended.
